Shoot us a Text.Episode #1167: GM kills its creative EV tax credit plan while Ford plays coy, the Chevy Bolt returns faster and cheaper than ever, and three Nissan dealers take their high-mileage heroes on a 1,500-mile proving ground through the American West.General Motors has scrapped a short-lived plan that would have allowed dealers to keep offering a $7,500 federal EV lease credit after the subsidy expired on September 30. The move follows political pushback and dealer uncertainty around compliance.GM's plan involved having GM Financial buy EVs from dealer inventory, claim the federal credit, and pass the savings into leases through the end of 2024.GM had already begun funding incentives on about 20,000 EVs, with 5% down payments made on those vehicles prior to September 30.The program was meant to help dealers avoid being stuck with higher-priced EVs post-credit, but Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH), a former dealer, objected to the move, calling it an overreach beyond the law's expiration. GM ended the plan shortly after.Ford rolled out a similar workaround ahead of the credit's expiration but has declined to confirm whether it plans to continue offering the lease incentives. At a “Bolt Block Party” at Universal Studios Hollywood, GM has officially reintroduced the Chevy Bolt, its beloved affordable EV.The new Bolt gains GM's Ultium 65kWh LFP battery for faster charging, improved range, and bidirectional home power support.Charging now jumps to 150kW (10–80% in 26 minutes) — triple the previous speed — with 255 miles of range and Tesla's NACS port for Supercharger access. The interior gets a bigger screen, refreshed materials and GM's SuperCruise driver assist with lane-changing “route following.”Pricing starts at just under $29K, making it the cheapest announced EV in the U.S., with production starting in early 2026.The only controversy? No more Apple CarPlay or Android Auto — GM is betting on its new in-house infotainment instead.Three Nissan dealers traded in their desks for desert dust, road-tripping 1,500 miles across the American West in three used Nissans — all over 100K miles and under $10K — to prove the brand's reliability and shake up customer perceptions. The “Tour Detour” YouTube series follows the group's off-road trek through salt flats, canyons, dunes, and mountain passes in two Muranos and a Juke.Dealers Tim Pohanka, Chris Lenckosz, and Jason Cole financed and drove the cars themselves, documenting every gritty mile. The goal: to challenge Nissan's reputation around “continuously variable transmissions” durability and show that even high-mileage models can take a beating.“We bought the cars ourselves and pushed them through the toughest roads in the West,” said Pohanka. “We wanted them to earn our trust — and our customeJoin Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/

Flight 44: If it moves on wheels at Disneyland, it was probably designed by 93-year old Disney Legend and Thea Lifetime Achievement recipient, Bob Gurr. Walt Disney was so impressed with his knowledge and skill, that he invited Bob Gurr to join WED Enterprises to design the very first Autopia cars that debuted at Disneyland in 1955. Over the past 74 years, Bob has made transportation magic worldwide, developing such legendary Disneyland ride vehicles as the Monorail, the Flying Saucers, the Haunted Mansion “Doom Buggies," the Submarine Voyage sub fleet, the PeopleMover, and the Matterhorn Bobsleds. After “retiring” in 1981, Bob went on to co-found Sequoia Creative and design the massive King Kong animatronic for Universal Studios Hollywood. He designed the flying spaceship for the 1984 Olympics opening ceremonies, effects for The Jacksons' Victory tour, and dinosaurs for Steven Spielberg's “Jurassic Park.” Plan now to join us as Bob climbs aboard a vehicle with no wheels for a journey across ten decades on one of the most incredible time travel adventures we've ever had!

With our first official house announcement of the year, Fallout is coming to HHN 34 in Orlando and HHN 2025 in Hollywood. An interview with John Murdy and Matt Flood reveal additional details about each coast's house and what we can expect from it. In that same interview, Murdy and Flood also let it be known that Five Nights at Freddy's will indeed be a house at both events. Shutting down any speculation that their initial announcement implied a different experience. We also finally have tickets for Halloween Horror Nights. In Orlando, that is for single night tickets and add ons. In Hollywood, the full ticket selection is currently available.Follow HHN 365 on social media:Instagram HHN365Twitter @HHN365TikTok: @HHN365podJoin our Discord Server: https://discord.gg/jUD9nZav2UMerch: HHN365.comFeatured audio is courtesy of White Bat Audio
On this episode of the California Now Podcast, host Soterios Johnson hits the road with three seasoned travelers to explore California's epic road trip experiences. To kick things off, Johnson chats with Zach Dundas, the editorial director behind the Wildsam field guides and Wildsam Magazine, a publication focused solely on road trips. Dundas explains why the open road remains one of the most profound ways to experience California. “You could come up with dozens of different themed road trips just within the state of California, and that's what makes it amazing,” says Dundas. He then dives deep into California's extraordinary range—recommending a route that begins in the artsy neighborhoods of San Francisco and travels east to Yosemite National Park. He also highlights the surreal beauty of Joshua Tree National Park and shares an itinerary that links California's desert, mountains, and forests. Next, Johnson catches up with Scott Clark, the chef and owner of Dad's Luncheonette, a beloved roadside eatery in Half Moon Bay. Clark talks about leaving the fast-paced fine dining world to open Dad's Luncheonette, a cozy spot in a red train caboose along California's coast. “I wanted to make food that felt like home, but that you'd actually want to eat,” he says. Clark also shares highlights from his new cookbook Coastal: 130 Recipes from a California Road Trip, including stories about foraging in Monterey, making frequent stops at oyster shacks, and exploring hidden coastal gems. Finally, Johnson chats with Alessandra Martinez, a digital creator who recently embarked on a four-day theme park road trip with her husband and four kids. Their high-energy itinerary hit Universal Studios Hollywood, Disneyland Resort, and LEGOLAND California. Martinez offers tips for navigating theme parks with kids of all ages and reflects on how to make road trips feel magical for the whole family. “Let everyone pick one thing they're most excited for—and make sure it happens,” she says.
Universal has shocked us all by releasing an announcement on a Sunday evening. Five Nights at Freddy's will be making it's way to Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando for HHN 34 and Hollywood for HHN 2025. However, this wasn't your traditional house announcement and it looks like Blumhouse may have leaked this prematurely. Prior to this, HHN was posting cryptic static teasers likely leading up to announcement this week. What will the house announcement schedule look like for Halloween Horror Nights 2025?Follow HHN 365 on social media:Instagram HHN365Twitter @HHN365TikTok: @HHN365podJoin our Discord Server: https://discord.gg/jUD9nZav2UMerch: HHN365.comFeatured audio is courtesy of White Bat Audio
