Epcot or Magic Kingdom? Dole Whip or Mickey pretzel? Castaway Cay or Lighthouse Point? This week Lisa puts Steve and Debbie in the hot seat for a rapid-fire (okay… not-so-rapid-fire) round of "This or That." Two options, gut-instinct answers, and a whole lot of friendly disagreement — with plenty of insider reasoning packed in along the way. Some are total no-brainers, a few get controversial, and Lisa tries (and mostly fails) to predict everyone's answers. It's a fun, easy listen packed with real opinions from travel agents who live and breathe Disney. Play along at home and see how many you match! In This Episode Intro — (0:00) A smaller crew this week — Caitlyn's on baby watch and Sharpie's out — so Lisa runs the game with Steve and Debbie. Hey hey, welcome back to Capture The Magic! We have got a packed episode this week and honestly food is taking over Disney World right now in the best possible way so let's just get into it. First up, the full food and drink guide for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party 2026 is out and there is a lot to look forward to. Speaking of the party, opening night is already sold out so if you were on the fence, just know the demand is very real this year. But wait, there's even more food news because Magic Kingdom is out here dropping new menu items too. Over at Golden Outpost you can now get Hot Honey Chicken Strips served with sweet potato fries topped with marshmallows and pecans, which honestly sounds wild in the best way. And Pecos Bill's has a new Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger with Angus beef, American cheese, house-made bacon jam, and barbecue sauce. Oh and they also have Churro Loops with chocolate sauce now. Yes please. Six Ravens at Disney Springs is about to open and the menu details are here and we are going through all of it. This one has been on a lot of people's radar and it's shaping up to be a really interesting addition to the Springs dining scene. Over at EPCOT, Zootopia: Better Zoogether has a brand new pre-show featuring Mayor Brian Winddancer from Zootopia 2 introducing Zoogether Day at a press conference. Fun fact, this makes it the third attraction with Patrick Warburton involved, which is just a very specific and delightful piece of Disney trivia. Also at EPCOT, Shiki-Sai in the Japan Pavilion has added a fireworks dining package where you get appetizers, traditional sashimi, an extensive sushi selection, an exclusive dessert, beverages, and a view of Luminous. Bookings open August 27th on their website and pricing is $149.50 per adult and $74.70 per child, which includes tax and gratuity. On the refurb front, two big ones to know about. Kidani Village at Animal Kingdom Lodge is getting a major lobby refurbishment starting August 17th and running in phases through early November. The main entrance and check-in are moving to The Palace Library, the gift shop closes for two weeks, and different areas will take turns going offline throughout the project. And Coronado Springs convention center is looking at a much longer timeline, starting August 10th of this year and running all the way through September 2027. Work will happen in phases and some of it at night, but if you're staying there you'll likely see some impact around the El Centro Corridor area. And before we get to what's coming the rest of 2026, we have to talk about the Kermit the Frog Annual Passholder magnet that is on the way because that is adorable and we are very excited about it. Looking ahead at the rest of 2026 there is so much happening. Disney After Hours at EPCOT runs through September 24th. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is in full swing. D23 is coming. EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival kicks off August 27th and runs all the way through November 21st. Then we have Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, Disney Jollywood Nights, and more. The back half of this year is going to be very busy in the best way. Thanks so much for hanging out with us today. We're tackling a wide variety of questions submitted by the Main Street Magic Community, covering everything from trip planning and resort decisions to Disney debates and even a little Universal Orlando. We discuss one of the most awkward situations you'll encounter in the parks—line cutting—and share our thoughts on where we draw the line (literally). Then we help a couple planning a Christmas vacation choose the perfect breakfast and dinner, including a character dining experience. We also look ahead to the future of Walt Disney World and debate whether 2027 or 2028 offers the better opportunity for a return visit based on upcoming attractions. Of course, no Q&A would be complete without some hot takes, so we're sharing the Disney hills we're willing to die on, from parks to movies and beyond. We also help a family decide between Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and Disney Jollywood Nights, discuss whether Deluxe Resorts are really worth the extra cost, and compare All-Star Music Family Suites versus the Art of Animation Family Suites and the value of having Skyliner access. Finally, for all the Disney fans venturing over to Universal Orlando for the first time, especially self-proclaimed ride chickens, we offer tips to help make that first visit fun, stress-free, and unforgettable. Whether you're planning your next vacation or just love talking Disney, this episode has something for everyone!

Send us Fan MailSchool is almost back in session, which means parents everywhere are preparing for one of the biggest transitions of the year. In this episode, we're talking about more than just school supplies and new backpacks. We're diving into the mental side of back-to-school season, how to prepare yourself for the return of early mornings, sports practices, homework, packed schedules, and the inevitable chaos that comes with getting everyone back into a routine. If you've been feeling a little overwhelmed just thinking about it, you're definitely not alone. After that, we switch gears and head to my favorite place: Walt Disney World! Disney's holiday season officially kicks off before you know it, and there's already so much to plan if you're visiting this fall. The main focus of today's episode is Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. We break down this year's party dates, what guests can expect, and whether there are any major changes compared to previous years. I also share why I believe we're entering a bit of a "holding pattern" for the party. While there are always small entertainment updates and merchandise changes from year to year, I don't expect to see major overhauls until Disney begins opening its highly anticipated new lands and attractions. We talk about what that means for families trying to decide if this year's party is worth attending and how to set realistic expectations before purchasing tickets. One topic I think every fall Disney visitor needs to understand is the weather, so we spend quite a bit of time discussing what it's really like to visit Walt Disney World in August and September. These are two of the hottest, most humid months of the year in Central Florida, and afternoon thunderstorms are practically part of the daily schedule. We discuss how the weather affects park touring, what to pack, how to stay comfortable in the heat, and why knowing what to expect ahead of time can make a huge difference in your vacation experience. We also take a quick look ahead at Disney's Christmas season. We cover the dates for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and Disney Jollywood Nights, discuss what makes each event unique, and talk about why they've become some of my favorite special-ticketed events at Walt Disney World. While this episode is just an introduction, I'll be releasing dedicated episodes later that take a much deeper dive into each party, including entertainment, food, strategies, and whether they're worth the additional cost. Before ending the episode, I share something much more personal. I ask for prayers for my dear friend Lauren as she faces an incredibly difficult battle with metastatic breast cancer. I also mention ways listeners can support her family through donations if they feel called to help. Your kindness, prayers, and generosity truly mean more than you know.DONATE HERE: https://gofund.me/dbf589bffIf you enjoy the show, be sure to subscribe so you never miss an episode, and leave a review it helps more families discover the podcast and plan vacations with less stress and more magic. For more Disney planning tips, family travel advice, and ways to minimize parental stress while creating magical memories at home and in the parks, follow @wellhellomagic.Support the showHey Welcome to Well Hello Magic!Well Hell Magic Website Instagram YouTube  Pinterest Amazon Shop LTK ShopReady to Plan your Disney Vacation?Free Planning GuideJoin The Newsletter

Episode 616 is here and we are packing this one full of Disney World news AND a full breakdown of how to actually survive and enjoy the parks this summer without completely melting. Whether you are heading to Walt Disney World soon or you are in the planning stages, this episode is for you. First up on the news front, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and Jollywood Nights tickets are now on sale to the general public. Quick heads up though, the cheapest nights and the ones closest to the holidays are usually the first to disappear, so if you are eyeing a specific date, do not wait on this one. Also in news, Disney celebrated Dole Whip Day and dropped some fun new treats worth knowing about. There is a new Dole Whip Peach with Streusel Crisp over at Pineapple Lanai, a Dole Whip Peach Streusel Cobbler Sundae at Blizzard Beach, and the fan favorite Swirl Up Some Magic cup is back for another year. Summer is really coming through with the snacks. And if you are a Food and Wine Festival fan, reservations are now open for the Parisian Breakfast Buffet at Chefs de France. It runs Friday and Saturday mornings during the festival at $67.95 per person and the menu is loaded with pastries, baguettes, cheeses, charcuterie, salmon, fresh fruit, and beverages. This one sold out last year so if you want in, grab that reservation now. Then we get into the main event of this episode, our full guide to staying cool at Disney World in the summer. We are talking hydration strategies, the right gear to wear, when to take breaks, how to build your day so you are not completely wiped out by noon, and which rides and experiences are best for cooling off. We cover splash pads, water rides, pool tips, After Hours events, H2O Glow Nights, the water parks, cool snacks, cooling accessories, and even why you should crank that hotel thermostat way down before you head out for the day. Summer at Disney is absolutely doable and can honestly be a great trip if you plan it right. We are giving you everything we know to make it happen. Which one gives you better entertainment? Which one is better for families, food, characters, atmosphere, fireworks, rare offerings, and overall holiday vibes? This episode breaks down where each party shines, where each one falls short, and why the “better” event may depend on what kind of Disney night you are looking for.It is part review, part comparison, and part holiday planning conversation — with Matt looking at whether Jollywood has found its footing, whether Very Merry still feels like the classic choice, and how both events fit into a Walt Disney World Christmas trip.Send us Fan MailTwitter/X Handles:Dizhappenings: https://twitter.com/dizhappeningsShaun: https://twitter.com/rankingthemouseMatt: https://twitter.com/mattpetoBefore/After Watch Music in Dizhappenings copyrighted by Audio Jungle

Len Testa and Jim Hill start with snow shovels, snapping turtles, and New Hampshire's ongoing audition for “America's Australia,” then move into a packed Disney Dish. This week, they cover Disney's holiday party calendar, the Grand Floridian gingerbread house retirement, tightening resort-access rules, the BoardWalk's new Hurley Burley lounge, Disneyland's Celebrate Soulfully Yardfest, and Universal Kids Resort's very sunny Texas debut. They also dig into new DVC survey perks, listener questions about Europa Park, Australia in World Showcase, and whether Epcot is due for a monorail-adjacent hotel. Then Jim continues Disney's living-character history with Dinotopia's odd but memorable second life at Walt Disney Studios Park. NEWS • Disney's Hollywood Studios may be targeting August for Magic of Disney Animation, though the building may have opinions of its own. • Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and Jollywood Nights return with schedules that neatly zip together across the holiday season. • The Grand Floridian gingerbread house is being retired, raising questions about resort crowds, access rules, and guest satisfaction. • Disney's resort-access language continues to tighten around holiday decorations, dining reservations, and who gets to visit which lobby. • The BoardWalk's former Jellyrolls space is set to become Hurley Burley, with family entertainment by day and a 21-and-up lounge by night. • Disneyland's Celebrate Soulfully Yardfest brings HBCU bands, drumlines, and Mickey Mouse as drumline major to Downtown Disney. • Universal Kids Resort opens in Texas with early chatter about short rides, light landscaping, and a shade situation that may require SPF and optimism. FEATURE • Jim explains how sets from ABC's 2002 Dinotopia miniseries wound up on the Studio Tram Tour at Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris. • Waterfall City helped fill out a park that opened with a small budget and a very large need for things guests could see from a tram. • The segment revisits Dinotopia, Reign of Fire, Catastrophe Canyon, and the strange art of letting narration do the work of missing dragons. • Jim sets up next week's look at Pixar Place, the Living Character Initiative, and the Luxo lamp story that still gives Imagineers the thousand-yard stare. When Gingerbread Houses Move Out and Dinosaurs Move In (Ep. 590)

The Disney Dish with Jim Hill

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 29, 2026 57:23

You've seen the options on the Walt Disney World website — Disney After Hours,Early Theme Park Entry, Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, seasonal parties —and you've probably wondered whether any of it is actually worth the extra costand effort. In Episode 10, Kelly Bennett gives you the honest breakdown. Here's what we cover:The three tiers of special access at Walt Disney World are not all created equal.Early Theme Park Entry is a free perk for any Disney Resort hotel guest, and mostpeople waste it by arriving at the wrong time. Extended Evening Theme Park Hoursis a Deluxe resort exclusive that gives qualifying guests two extra hours afterpark close — with near walk-on waits on major headliners. And Disney After Hoursis a separately-ticketed event ($149–$239/person) open to any guest, that capsattendance at a fraction of regular capacity and includes complimentary snacks.Key takeaways from this episode:— Arrive 40–50 minutes before official park opening to maximize your Early  Theme Park Entry window. Disney often begins scanning resort guests in earlier  than the advertised early entry time.— Disney After Hours is most worth it for peak-season visitors, returning guests  with a focused ride list, and off-site guests who don't have access to free  resort perks.— Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party  are a different value proposition — buy them for the exclusive entertainment,  not just the short lines.Ready to plan your full trip?
