Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the last appearance from this group of Guardians in the MCU. Kevin Feige opens up about Phase 5, Kang, and the future of the MCU https://ew.com/movies/kevin-feige-marvel-phase-5-exclusive-interview/ Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has revealed that fans will see Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Feige brought up Moon Knight's MCU future during a conversation with Entertainment Weekly about the initial wave of Marvel-produced Disney+ series, which included the six-episode Moon Knight series. "The fun thing about streaming is they are there forever, and people can keep re-exploring them," Feige said. "Moon Knight, same thing. I think there's a future for that character as we move forward." Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has provided an update on Spider-Man 4. During a chat with Entertainment Weekly, Feige was asked if there were any updates on Spider-Man 4, following the massive success of Spider-Man: No Way Home. While his response was short, he did indicate the story is already settled for Peter Parker's next adventure. Feige said, "All I will say is that we have the story. We have big ideas for that, and our writers are just putting pen to paper now." Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige "reveals" which character from The Marvels steals the upcoming film. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Feige discussed what the major takeaways were for Marvel Studios during Phase 4, which introduced several new characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a variety of films and television shows. "I hope we learn something on every project," he said. "I was very pleased with everything that we did. Kamala Khan, for instance, is a great new character in the pantheon. I'm very proud of the Ms. Marvel show. I also know — and this is a spoiler — she essentially steals The Marvels, which is coming out [July 28]. It makes me excited that people will, I hope, see that movie and then go back and revisit those shows on Disney+." The Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot of Blade, starring Mahershala Ali as the famous vampire hunter, will shoot in about two and a half months, according to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. Feige was interviewed by Entertainment Weekly about the MCU's Phase Five, which begins with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and ends with an all new Blade in late 2024. When asked if he had any updates on Blade, Feige didn't disclose many details but confirmed that the film is moving along smoothly. "It's going well," Feige said. "Our director Yann [Demange] is down in Atlanta right now. Cameras roll in, like, the next 10 weeks or so." Insider reports previously claimed that Blade wouldn't begin shooting until July, but Feige's projected start date of 10 weeks means the movie will begin shooting this spring. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently confirmed that Harrison Ford's Thunderbolt Ross is the Marvel Cinematic Universe's new U.S. President. Feige confirmed that Ross will move into the Oval Office in Captain America: New World Order in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "[Ross is] the President of the United States in the film," he said. "And with Harrison, you think about Air Force One, and you think about some of his confrontations with the president in Clear and Present Danger. There's a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson. They have a history together, but in this film, we'll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the President of the United States in a way that is just incredible." Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige addressed the ever-expanding scope of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, pointing out that it was necessary to release a wide variety of films and television shows while noting that not everything would necessarily appeal to everyone. "If there's a Marvel Studios method -- like there was a Marvel method in publishing -- it's trying to do both," Feige told Entertainment Weekly when asked about balancing ongoing MCU story threads with capturing new audiences. "I've talked about this for years: If you want to dip in and out and just go to the movies on a Friday night or watch a streaming series, you can do that. And if you want to follow along, there's certainly much more to be discovered. But we don't ever want it to seem exclusive or that you need to have done your homework before watching something. Now, I've also realized that a lot of people like to do the homework. A lot of people find the fun in the homework and the continuity and the connectivity. But it is a balance of always trying to do both." Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes will play an essential role in the highly-anticipated Thunderbolts movie. Speaking with EW, Feige teased that Bucky Barnes will become the de facto leader of this group of complicated individuals who don't even consider themselves heroes. "What's fun about that [Thunderbolts film], and I sort of said this at D23, is that they are barely heroes," Feige said. "None of them would consider themselves heroes. When your de facto leader is Bucky Barnes, that's sort of all you need to know. That's the trickle down." According to Kevin Feige, the 'Previously On' recap could be less important for upcoming Marvel TV shows as they might experiment with more traditional episodic structures. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Feige stated that "[w]e want to do shows that can only be shows. I want to continue to make them even more episodic, which may seem counterintuitive. But I do think there is something fun about leaning back and watching an episode that can be relatively self-contained." He pointed to watching episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation to illustrate the pleasures of less overarching TV storytelling: "I still find it soothing to watch an episode of Next Gen with a beginning and an end. So, I think we're going to keep experimenting with that going forward." When it comes to upcoming projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has one, in particular, he's most looking forward to. "...We talked a little bit about Secret Wars. We talked about Kang Dynasty as related to Quantumania," Feige told Entertainment Weekly, referencing the MCU's current storylines and reflecting on future projects. "The only other one in terms of me personally and my 23-year history is the Fantastic Four. We sort of talked about mutants and that whole aspect to the Marvel world, but Fantastic Four is the foundation for everything that came after in the comics. There's certainly been versions of it [on screen], but never inhabiting the storytelling of the MCU. And that's something that is really exciting for us." The Marvels Bumps Its Release Date Back to Late 2023 https://www.cbr.com/the-marvels-release-date-late-2023/ Marvel Studios has delayed its upcoming Phase 5 title The Marvels from summer 2023 to late 2023. Announced alongside a brand-new teaser poster for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel, The Marvels is now scheduled to open in theaters on Nov. 10. This is the fifth release date for The Marvels, which was originally scheduled to open back in July 2022. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film was delayed to November 2022 and then February 2023. Marvel Studios had previously had the film set to open on July 28 for this latest delay. No reason was given by Marvel Studios for the film's delay; however, a recent report has claimed that Marvel is looking at having more breathing room between MCU projects to prevent audience fatigue as well as allow the creative times more time in post-production. The report mentions that the Disney+ series Echo and Ironheart are no longer guaranteed to debut in 2023 because of these changes and that development on other projects -- like the rumored Nova series -- will slow down. However, the insiders did not mention if the MCU films would be affected by this decision, so it is impossible to say if that is the reason for The Marvels' delay until Marvel Studios confirms the report, which it has yet to do at the time of writing. REPORT: Kevin Feige Is Eyeing Disney's Top Creative Position https://www.cbr.com/kevin-feige-walt-disney-studios-chairman-promotion While Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige's presence has been ubiquitous for fans following news about the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its 2008 inception, he's reportedly vying for a higher position. Feige, according to The Hot Mic podcast's Jeff Sneider, is looking to ascend the leadership ladder at Disney, specifically for the position of Walt Disney Studios Chairman. The position in question, currently occupied by Alan Bergman, is essentially the second-highest in the entire Disney corporate structure, just below the #1 spot of the recently reinstated CEO Bob Iger. Feige has long-coveted the position, and "wants to be the #2 at Disney," according to Sneider, who said that he has designs for "being the creative absolute head of a studio who can put his fingerprints on everything and leave maybe the business stuff to someone in the Iger-type of seat, who has to oversee parks, resorts and cruise ships." Indeed, he adds that the longtime Marvel Studios overseer "aspires to be more than the head of a label." How Kang Became Marvel's Next Supervillain and Why Phase 4 Sets It All Up https://gizmodo.com/kang-the-conqueror-mcu-marvel-phase-5-stephen-broussard-1850094830 While Tony Stark/Iron Man started the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios executive Stephen Broussard recently shared disappointing news about MCU veteran Robert Downey Jr. possibly returning to the franchise. While speaking to io9, Broussard said that he thought one of Phase 4's meta-narratives centered on new characters and mantles taken up by the latest heroes. "If you look at, like, Cassie [Lang in Quantumania] getting a suit and Kate Bishop [in Hawkeye], new characters being introduced like Jack in Werewolf by Night," he explained. "After these first 10 years of Marvel storytelling, torches are being passed, like with Robert Downey Jr. no longer being [on the] table and stuff like that. So it was kind of like a new generation stepping to the forefront which, again, has always happened in the comics." DISNEY+ Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Releases Its First Episode Online for Free https://www.cbr.com/marvel-moon-girl-devil-dinosaur-episode-free/ The double-length premiere episode of Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is available to stream online for free. The premiere, titled "Moon Girl Landing," was released on YouTube the same day it aired on Disney Channel. The show follows Lunella Lafayette (Diamond White), a 13-year-old super-genius living in Manhattan, whose portal experiment accidentally summons a cherry-red Tyrannosaurus rex (Fred Tatasciore). Encouraged by her new friend and manager Casey (Libe Barer), Lunella dons a costume and an arsenal of homemade gadgets to protect the Lower East Side alongside the beast as the duo Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. However, when the two come across a genuine supervillain in the form of the electrically-powered Aftershock (Alison Brie), Lunella fears she may not actually have what it takes to be a hero. I did my worst and best films of 2022, enough of the past, now let's look into the future! The 2023 films I'm looking forward to! This doesn't mean I'm going to see every one of them, because for several of these I only read a synopsis, and if the trailer looks bad, then I'm not going to see it. Or, if the trailer looks stellar and I do plan on seeing it, but everyone across the board who sees it hates it, I'm not going to waste my time or money. Don't look at me that way - I'm going to be like that until I can start monetizing this podcast, okay? Or, it could be that a movie looks great, and people love it, but it's only on Hulu or something, a service I don't have. Then, in that case, it sucks to be me. There's also going to be those movies that jump out and surprise me in the middle of the year that I never would have considered just by reading the premise on paper. All that to say, this is not a comprehensive list by any means. And just so you know, this isn't a Top 10 list, this is just running through the release dates from January to December, so here we go!The first film up is You People. Don't know a thing about it except that it's a buddy comedy (I like buddy comedies - like, is there really a better kind of comedy than that?) which stars Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy. I don't care much for Eddie Murphy outside of Beverly Hills Cop, but I'm a big fan of Jonah Hill. He always makes me laugh. Knock at the Cabin is an apocalyptic psychological horror film directed by M. Night Shyamalan. What can I say, the man's having a resurgence of sorts with Split, Glass, and I actually enjoyed Old. So I say keep bringing it, my man. I've still got faith in you. I'm still a fan. Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey is coming out next year, and um... yeah, it sounds silly enough that my interest is piqued. Is it going to be any good? Doubt it. Will I watch it? ...Doubt it. But it's on my list if I ever happen to come across it. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Sigh. After last year's Thor: Love and Thunder and all the Marvel shows that no one can possibly keep up with, I'm kind of done with Marvel. Way I see it, Marvel ended with a bang with End Game, and then Spider-Man: No Way Home was like the end-credit scene to all of Marvel. It was the icing on the cake, the last hoorah, the final farewell. To be fair, I haven't seen Wakanda yet, but I'm skeptical because it doesn't have Chadwick Boseman or Michael B. Jordan (though I've been told that Jordan does make an appearance). Anyway, I like Ant-Man, but this will likely be one I wait to come on Disney+. Speaking of Michael B. Jordan, Creed III is my first highly anticipated movie. I love Rocky, all of his movies, and I love the follow-up series, Creed, just as much. I know this film, which is also directed by Michael B. Jordan (following in the lines of Sylvester Stallone), is going to be a knockout. Scream VI is one I'm not dying to see, because these movies don't ever touch the brilliance of the first film, but I'm committed. I'll see it. Adam Driver stars as an astronaut who fights dinosaurs. Sixty-five is a movie that was written by the guys that gave us A Quite Place movies. My daughter is heads-over-heels in love with Kylo Ren, so she's probably going to want to see this one with me, even though she'll only be 9. We'll see what Mom says. But even if she can't, I'll definitely check this one out as long as the reviews are positive. Shazam! Fury of the Gods! Bring - it - on!! I'm a big fan of the first movie - I find it original and touching and hilarious. I'm a little concerned that it won't just be Shazam as the lone super hero, but all his siblings will be fighting by his side, so I'm hoping it's not a Hobbit situation where there's too many characters on screen that we don't know what to do with them. Still, I'm highly optimistic about this movie and it's been on my radar for a very long time. Also on my radar is John Wick: Chapter 4. I mean, what can I say? It's one of those franchises that I think gets better with each installment. The action in Chapter 3 was just *Phew!* mind-blowing. So I can't wait to see what they come up with for this film. Champions is a film directed by Bobby Farley, one of the Farley brothers, and stars Woody Harelson. I don't know anything about it beyond that, but that sounds like a winning team if you ask me. The Super Marios Bros. Movie is one I'm really, really looking forward to, and that's coming from a guy that doesn't really like animated movies all that much. But this one looks like eye-candy as far as just how cartoony the characters look, and I love the trailers and clips they've shown for it as the movie will make the Mario world as we know it, come to live, and actually make sense. Guardians of the Galaxy 3. This is easily one of my most anticipated movies by far. I've watched the trailer 12 times by now, and this is one of two exceptions I've always planned on making for my Marvel viewings post-Endgame. This movie looks like it's really going to break my heart, just like it did when Gamora died. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse isn't one I'm as hyped to see as everyone else is, because it's not like I didn't like the first one, but I just feel like it's a tad bit overrated. Don't get me wrong - it's a great, great film, but it just didn't hit all the notes for me as it did for everyone else. Nonetheless, I do plan on watching this one, without a doubt. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. My kids, especially my son, is very excited to see this. And to be honest, I'm not dreading it in the least. It looks like it's part of the Bumblee universe, and if that's the case, then I'm all in. Elemental is the new Pixar movie about fire and water. Their last installments were just so bad (except for Soul), and I didn't even bother with Lightweight. But with Bob Iger back at Disney's helm, there's reason to think this could be good, depending on how late into production they were when Iger made his triumphal return. Asteroid City is a Wes Anderson film that stars Tom Hanks and Steve Carrell, Margot Robbie, Scarlet Johnson, and everyone else in Hollywood it seems. So... yeah, sign me up, even though I'm a little over Tom Hanks at this point. Indian Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Need I say more? I only hope that the film finds some way to make fun of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. If it does, I guarantee you that's going to be a moment where people applaud in the theater. And hopefully this movie provides a lot of those moments. The bar is high for this one, so we'll see. Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One. Yes, Toy Story is my favorite franchise of all time. But Mission: Impossible is right there (minus MI:II). This movie has been delayed so many times. It was supposed to come out for my birthday this year, which I was so excited for, but good things come to those who wait, and I've been waiting soooooo long for this. This is my number one movie to see in 2023. Then Guardians Vol. 3., then Creed III, then Shazam!. Oppenheimer is a Christopher Nolan film about the creation of the atomic bomb. I mean, who's not at least intrigued by that? I'm definitely not missing that one. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. I put this on my list, honestly, because my wife really wants to see this one. I love the original Hunger Games books, and I really love Catching Fire the movie. So I'll probably take Sarabeth out to see this. Untitled Ghostbusters: Afterlife Sequel. The kids and I really liked the first one which came out in 2021, so I know we'll probably go see this one. This has been a lot of fun looking forward to what's coming out soon. I'd love to hear what you're most looking forward to, so email me your list or make fun of mine at author.andrewtoy@gmail.com or message me on Instagram where you can find me at LifeThroughBigScreenPod. In this interim where I'm the only one doing all the talking and not having guests, I'm still trying to shape how I want my show to look going forward, so bear with me as I might experiement in subsequent episodes, and feel free to give me any feedback or offer suggestions. According to a Marvel Studios source cited by Cosmic Circus, the studio is re-examining its upcoming slate after "internal negative feedback" over Phase 4's distribution and quality. The issues addressed behind the scenes allegedly include creative difficulties with scripts, post-production problems and lackluster visual effects. To prevent Phases 5 and 6 from continuing down a similar path, the report claims Disney could ensure a creative oversight on MCU projects still in the pre-production stage, which in effect could see future projects delayed or outright canceled. Of course, it's worth noting this report has yet to be confirmed through any official Disney or Marvel channels at the time of this writing. Disney's Christine McCarthy Emerges As Top CEO Contender To Succeed Bob Iger; CFO Was King Killer Who Took Down Bob Chapek https://deadline.com/2022/12/disney-bob-iger-christine-mccarthy-ceo-successor-bob-chapek-1235190043/ https://www.cbr.com/bob-iger-christine-mccarthy-successor-contender-disney/ A new report has emerged suggesting that current Disney CFO Christine McCarthy is the frontrunner to replace Bob Iger as CEO after his two-year term comes to a close in 2024. Per Deadline, Disney insiders believe McCarthy is a leading contender to take over for Iger, stating that she "has always been a force to be reckoned with, but you have to put her on a list of top five possibilities after the last few weeks." McCarthy, who has been the chief financial officer at Disney since 2015, was instrumental in the removal of Bob Chapek as Disney CEO, which took place on Nov. 20. If McCarthy were handed the keys to the Magic Kingdom, she would become the company's first female CEO. MCU – MARVEL STUDIOS NEWS The Legacy of Ant-Man | Brazil Comic Con Special Look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRSwXvMcT5c https://www.cbr.com/legacy-of-ant-man-marvel-documentary/ Ahead of the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Marvel has released a special featurette titled "The Legacy of Ant-Man" that explores Scott Lang's career in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This special look at the size-shifting superhero premiered during CCXP and shrinks all of Ant-Man's adventures and misadventures into a two-minute retrospective. It includes some of Paul Rudd's most memorable scenes from Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Ant-Man and The Wasp and Avengers: Endgame, with a brief look at Quantumania. While the Quantumania teaser trailer had already covered most new reveals from the movie, "The Legacy of Ant-Man" does include an ominous new line from the film's villain, Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conquerer. At the very end of the featurette, Kang can be heard saying, "Your reality, everything you're holding onto -- I know how it ends. You're out of your league, Ant-Man." This dialogue did not appear in the recent trailer, which instead had Kang say, "I can get you home, and give you more time, if you help me. So what's it gonna be, Ant-Man?" This featurette's version is decidedly more threatening than in the teaser trailer, hinting at Kang's status as a time-traveler from the future, which was first alluded to in Season 1 of Loki. James Gunn Confirms GotG Vol. 3 References 2001: A Space Odyssey, Not Among Us https://www.cbr.com/guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-3-references-2001-not-among-us/ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 writer-director James Gunn has clarified that the trailer's color-coded space suits are a reference to Stanley Kubrick's 1968 sci-fi epic 2001: A Space Odyssey, not the popular video game Among Us. On Twitter, well-known cartoonist Scott Kurtz asked Gunn if Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's colorful space suits were a nod to Among Us. Gunn simply replied, "No," sharing a photo of the red, yellow and blue space suits from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Kurtz was a good sport about the whole thing, however, tweeting, "I just got schooled by James Gunn. And I love it." And to be fair, judging by other posts on Twitter, Kurtz was far from the only one to think of Among Us when the Guardians donned their colorful gear. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's Synopsis Hints at the Team's End https://www.cbr.com/guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-3-end-synopsis-mcu/ The official synopsis for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hints that the events of the movie may lead to the end of the team. Disney+ unveiled the official synopsis for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which teases an emotional ending to James Gunn's beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe trilogy. The synopsis reads, "In Marvel Studios 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3' our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them." James Gunn Confirms How Long Thor Spent With the Guardians of the Galaxy https://www.cbr.com/james-gunn-guardians-of-the-galaxy-thor-time/ Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn confirmed how long Thor was with the Guardians after the events of Avengers: Endgame. A fan tweeted at Gunn, asking what happened to the Guardians' old ship, the Benatar, and sought clarification on how much time has passed between when we saw the team in Thor: Love and Thunder and the events of the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The director claimed that the Benatar is in the garage, and revealed that their new ship, the Bowie, is much larger. He added that the Guardians were only with Thor for a few weeks before embarking on a separate adventure, and claimed a long time has passed since then. DISNEY+ ‘Daredevil: Born Again': Margarita Levieva & Sandrine Holt Join Disney+ Series https://deadline.com/2022/12/daredevil-born-again-margarita-levieva-amp-sandrine-holt-cast-disney-plus-series-1235189804/ Margarita Levieva (The Deuce) and Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo) are set for major roles opposite Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio in Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel's upcoming revival series on Disney+, sources tell Deadline. In addition to Cox and D'Onofrio, Levieva and Holt join previously cast Michael Gandolfini. The 18-episode season of Daredevil: Born Again is slated to premiere in 2024, four years after the original Daredevil series ended its run on Netflix after three seasons. REPORT: Michael Gandolfini Signs on for Multiple MCU Projects https://www.cbr.com/michael-gandolfini-marvel-cinematic-universe-contract/ Actor Michael Gandolfini, known for the Sopranos prequel film The Many Saints of Newark, has reportedly signed a multi-project deal with Marvel that will begin with Daredevil: Born Again. News that Gandolfini is joining the upcoming Daredevil show on Disney+ came out earlier this week, but according to Murphy's Multiverse, the actor is closing a deal to appear in multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. Gandolfini's role in Daredevil: Born Again has not been revealed, but this contract suggests that his character will reappear in future MCU shows or movies later down the line. For his first Marvel role, he's working alongside Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, both of whom are reprising their roles from Netflix's hit Daredevil TV show. The video features the alt-country band Old 97's as a group of alien musicians who attempt to make sense of Peter Quill's confusing Yuletide lore. Writer/director James Gunn discussed writing the song with frontman Rhett Miller, saying, "I had all these lyrics for it, and it kept changing. I walked around my house, singing into my iPhone and trying to figure out how the song was going to work. And finally, I approached Rhett and asked, 'Will you help me write this song? Because I can't do it by myself.' And he said, 'Absolutely.' And so we started sending tons of recordings and lyrics back and forth, and we wrote that song together." Jesus, because we realize our hope is in you, Lord. You are so, so, so good. And Lord, I just pray over every person here, the circumstances in their lives that they're coming in with Lord, you can address them. 4 (18m 44s): You can heal them. You can pour your love out on them. Jesus, your holy spirit is the great, the wonderful counselor. Jesus, you are the wonderful counselor. And so Lord, I just pray that you would counsel each person in this room. Lord, I just asked that each person would open their hearts and open their minds because you want to speak to us this morning. Jesus. And we want to hear from you. God, you are so good. We humble ourselves before you. We just exalt your name this morning. Jesus. We love you so much. And it's in his name. Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. 4 (19m 25s): All right. You can take your seats and thank you worship team. Thank you, Jesus. Let's give Jesus a hand. Woo. So good. All right. Well thank you for being here this morning. My name is Curtis. It's great to have you all here today. If you are new here, we've got a couple things for you. We've got coffee and tea out on the patio. We've got bathrooms down these hallways and water back there as well. So make yourself at home. We're we're really glad that you're here. We've got some stuff happening around here and we just encourage you to connect. So one of those things is that to be able to connect with you, we have to have your information. 4 (20m 8s): We have to have some way like your email or your phone number or something. And we would love to that. We would love for you to do that. And that's just a way for us to be able to get you on the email updates and all of that. So you can connect with life groups and really just so your walk with the Lord can continue to grow. So we wanna empower you. We wanna walk with you in that. So if you'd like, and you haven't done it yet, or if it's been a long time, since you've given us your information and maybe it's outdated, you can head back to the info center and fill out your info there. And we'd love to connect with you in that way. The next thing is that we've got a outreach happening this next Saturday. 4 (20m 47s): The harvest festival is gonna be happening. Lots of people right outside this building that we get to love on and just encourage. So at the harvest festival, we are gonna be out front, handing out love first and foremost. And then also we got water bottles and balloons for the kids and stuff like that. So if you want to come by, we're gonna be here from 8 45 to noon and just to love on the people coming by, they're coming right to our front doors. And so how can we pass that opportunity up? It's gonna be great. So we'd love for you to join us. Also, we've got our Bonko for babies event. This is gonna be to support lifeline and all of the unexpected pregnancies, the, the young girls and young boys, young men who are having unexpected pregnancies. 4 (21m 32s): If you wanna support them, head back to the info center and, and learn more about how you can get connected to that event. It's gonna be awesome. The last thing is that the Christian ethics class that I announced last week, apparently I did a really bad job explaining it. So, so these are some of the questions that we're gonna be talking about in the Christian ethics class, Dr. Stacy, Harmon's gonna be leading it. And it's just gonna be a powerful time to kind of dig into some of the harder questions in our lives. So if Sarah live today, we should get an IVF. Did Sampson commit suicide and our frozen embryos alive and have a soul. So these are just some of the questions that they'll be discussing. And it just kind of helps you dig into your faith a little bit and get some, get some Bible behind you. 4 (22m 16s): So if you wanna do that, it's gonna be on Thursdays at six 30 in the loft. So you can sign up at the info center for that. And then in just a minute, we're gonna be having Jeremy come back up and he's gonna share. The second part of his series of the veil is getting thinner and it's gonna be really great. But right now we're gonna have you get up and meet somebody you haven't met before. And we'll be back in just a minute. Thanks. 6 (24m 10s): All right. Good morning. Good morning, everyone. Good morning. So glad to see you all fellowshiping. What a great Sunday morning I, I gave the children's ministry. That, that, that heads up that I'm gonna go a little long. Alright. So I guess we need every bit of 35 minutes and plus more to get through the content for today, but I'm excited to be here. 6 (24m 56s): I'm I'm, I'm grateful for Steve who gave me once again, another privilege to come and share this. It seems like it's resonating with a lot of you. So that, that encouragement encourages me. I, I hope that you're digging in hope. You've looked at those passages. I hope you continue to do that. I, I, I hope you never just take, you know, a preacher's word for it. I hope you go back and really study and find it in the word of God. So that be principle from acts chapter 17, but I'm glad to be here sharing this message. Once again, we're talking about the veil is getting thinner and, and this and this, this thing that we're seeing and witnessing and around our world about the supernatural getting mixed or, or getting mingled with the natural realm. 6 (25m 44s): So what's what last week we really dug into like, what's, what's going on? What, what is, what is this, why are, why is the government releasing all this UFO stuff? Now? Why, why is this stuff happening? So we, we dug into that a little bit last week. If you missed that message, I would really encourage you to go back after this and, and listen to that, dig in steady. But so as we dig in, let me just give you the answer. Jesus is the answer. Okay? Jesus is the answer. Let's pray and we'll dig in heavenly father. We thank you for your word. We thank you for the complexities in it. We thank you that my daughters, a seven year old, a 10 year old can read your Bible and know it and understand it and coming to a saving knowledge Lord, but we're also thankful for a lifetime of study. 6 (26m 36s): Could never mind the depths of which your holy scriptures have Lord and what they, how they speak into our life and our culture, our context, the things that we're going through Lord. So we pray Lord that we would have the wherewithal to have to dig into the meat of the word of God, to be able to chew on these things. Lord. So Lord to God, as we open up your scriptures, Lord, speak to us in Jesus name, we pray. Amen. Let me tell you about three rebellions in the Bible. Because to the, the, the, to the biblical authors to the, the first century Jews, there was, there was three main rebellions that they understood that we've kind of lost sight of. 6 (27m 16s): We, we UN we know the first rebellion. That was the rebellion that happened in Genesis Genesis, chapter three, with the fall of man, kind of the fall of Adam, that sin that was passed on through Adam's sin of, of disobeying God, he, the sin that came upon him and the death, that how that was passed on through Adam to us. Now, we understand that Jesus came to undo and to pay for the penalty of that sin by dine on the cross, thereby giving us life. We understand that as Western Christians that is accurate, but what we missed is that they're actually in the old Testament, there was two more divine rebellions that happened. 6 (27m 56s): And it all goes back to the Genesis chapter one through 11, the more you understand, the more you dig into what was happening in Genesis chapters, one through 11, the more the, you will unlock the different complexities of the Bible of the word of God. Revelation will become something that you'll understand more greatly. As you understand the context of Genesis chapters, one through 11. The second rebellion is what we really talked about last week, the rebellion of the sons of God, see God made man in his own image and the image, God, he created the male and female. He created them. God made man in his own image and he placed his own code into us, but then the sons of God and their rebellion and, and, and justice, chapter six, they came and they tried to implant their own image on humanity. 6 (28m 43s): That's what the whole thing was. There was the mixing of the sons of God with the daughters of, of, of men. And so that was Genesis chapter through this, the second rebellion, these angels, these sons of God, rebelled of God's natural habitation for them and Jesus in his ministry was became not only to undo the fall of our sin of Genesis chapter three, but he also came to, to reclaim and to undo the sin of these sons of God. That's why Jesus so often, and throughout the scriptures, we see that Jesus came against many demons like March chapter one, verse 23. It says now there was a man in the synagogue with an unclean spirit. 6 (29m 25s): Whoa, wait a second. There's a church. And there's a man with an unclean spirit, a demonic spirit within him, a church that still happens today. But that man began to climb out, you know, who led us alone? Who have we to do with you? Jesus of Nather. You did you come to destroy us? I know who you are. You're the holy one of God. And Jesus cast him out. He rebuked him, caused him to be quiet because Jesus came to undo the fall of the sons of God. And not only that, but all three gospels record that Jesus went up onto a mountain and was transfigured before his disciples and then was joined by Moses and Elijah. That is because Jesus was showing himself to be greater than these sons of God. 6 (30m 9s): He was showing not only his disciples, but he was showing the evil, spiritual realm that he was God in flesh. And he was coming for them. The third rebellion that we find in scripture is the rebellion at Genesis chapter 11 at the tower of vowel, God blessed no one, his sons. And he says, go out and be fruitful and multiply. But one of those sons decided that they were not gonna do that. They were gonna then gather up the nations into one and they were gonna build a tower, remember to try to get above the flood as well, but to build a tower, to, to get to the heavens. And so they were building this tower. They gathered the nation into one place under the leadership of one person into one government. 6 (30m 56s): And not only that, but they Satan led this merging technology, human centered ATIC religion and a global government. All that was found in the, the supernatural rebellion in Genesis chapter 11. This is what Todd Hamson who wrote the book, the nonprofits guide to spiritual warfare. It has, if you look at the book, the front of the cover, it's corny, but it's really in depth. So I, I recommend this book at the parable bookstore, the nonprofits guide to spiritual warfare. This is what he said about Babylon. Babylon means gateway to God or gateway to the gods. Several times in scripture, phone angels are referred to as lowercase G gods at the tower of Babybel man and evil entities were attempting to work together through the veil that separates the scene and the unseen realms in open defiance against the Lord, knowing that with that, they would, that rebellion would incur God's judgment. 6 (31m 55s): That's what was happening at Babylon. So how did Jesus undo that? Well, you see at babble, the languages and the nations were divided. Deutero 32 that says within that division, Deutero 32 versus seven through nine says, remember the days of old consider the years of many generations ask your fathers and he will show you your elders. And they will tell you when the most high gave the nations, their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples, according to the number of the sons of God. But the Lord's portion is his people, Jacob, his allotted heritage. 6 (32m 38s): So I said, when God divided the nations, not only to divide the languages and he sent out nations, is that he also put over the, these different nations, supernatural powers, these divine, these sons of God, these divine beings. And he gave them over the ch that's why we see a Daniel. When Daniels in Persia, the, he, he, his prayers were withheld by the prince of the, the prince of the Persia. He was withheld by the spiritual force that was overseeing that nation because God had given that nation to that according to D 32, but God claimed for himself is Israel and Jacobs allotted heritage. 6 (33m 18s): That's why in Jesus' ministry. Jesus first sends out his 12 disciples. That's who his important ministry was to reclaim the, the nation of Israel, what they were called to be the light of the world. He sends his 12 disciples out, and then when they come back, they bring good report. And then later on, we see Jesus sends out the 70, have you, any of you ever wondered why Jesus sent out the 70 disciples? We understand the 12 for the 12 tribes of Israel, but the 70 correspond back to Genesis, chapter 10 and 11 Noah shaman and Shaham and Jacob Noah's three sons were sent out and they were divided up into 70 different nations. 6 (34m 0s): Go back to Genesis, check that out. So when Jesus sends out the 70, what is he doing? He's saying I'm not only the God of Israel. I am the God of the world. And I am reclaiming these nations for myself, showing that I am superior to that. Isn't it interesting that God's a nationalist. God believes in the rights of sovereign nations because sovereign nations hold power back from each other, help us keep back the evil at bay. You think of when we went in and invaded Iraq, how all of a sudden Iran came to power. When we took Saddam hue out of power, we didn't realize that all of a sudden Iraq or Iran would come to power within the region. 6 (34m 45s): There was a withholding of the powers there. God is a nationalist. He believes in nations, God design nations. So Jesus having sent out the 70 and seeing the result back when he says that I saw state and fall like a, like fall out of heaven. He now says ILOs chapter two, verse 13, through 15 of what Jesus did over all these supernatural entities was this. He said, and you being alive in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he has made alive together with him having forgiven you all trespasses having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. 6 (35m 27s): And he has taken it out of the way. Having nailed it to the cross. You know, that God is a God of justice. And he's a God who believes in the legal system. God has a legal system that he's worked out for the salvation of us. God can't extend out of that because God keeps within his own legal boundaries. He's there's handwritten requirements that were, that were against us. But after he did that, having nailed it to the cross, having disarmed the principalities and powers, he made a public spectacle of them and triumphing over them all. That's why Jesus is the answer. That's why Jesus is the answer. He is the name above every name. 6 (36m 7s): So that's where we leave off this week. But let's, let's remember where we left off last week. And that last week we talked about the diff or we left off with the difference between angels and demons. So let's get into that. Now, first of all, there's a number of different types or classes of angels. There's types, kinds hierarchy within the angels, angelic realm. There's the Sarah F in the chair of him. Those are normally found around the throne room of God. We have the arc angels who are these kind of warrior angels that are given much power, much authority. We have messenger angels, guardian angels, and then over 70 different types of angels are described in the book of revelation. There's a guy who recently wrote a book on 70 angels in the book of revelation, but we don't have time to jump into those guys. 6 (36m 53s): Those are, I'll leave those for further study for you. But what, where we were at last week was the sons of God. That statement the sons of God, the sons of God in the old Testament were direct creations of God, okay? God directly created the sons of God. So if I were gonna get onto a tangent, which I'm going to, because it relates to you and I today, the tangent is that in the old Testament, they're called the stone of God. What about now? What about in the new Testament? And that's where the genealogy is really interesting. Interesting. Both Matthew one and Luke three have different genealogies for Jesus. One follows the lineage of Joseph. 6 (37m 34s): One follows the lineage of Mary Luke's lineage follows Mary Luke and Luke chapter three, the genealogy, we see it all the way down from, from Mary's, from Mary. Her, her father is that we fall that all the way down. The son of the son of the son of, until we get to Adam, the son of God, why was Adam called a son of God? Because he didn't have a mother or father because God directly created Adam. So how does that relate to us today? Well, that's, that's, what's encouraging about the new Testament says second Corinthians five says, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. 6 (38m 14s): The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. Or what about Romans eight versus 12 through 14? Paul says, therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh to live according to the flesh. But if you live according to the flesh, you will die. But if by the spirit you are put to death, the deeds of the body you will live for as many as are led by the spirit of God to these are called the sons of God. Isn't that interesting that we, by believing in who Jesus Christ has have been given the rights to be called the sons of God, John one also says, but as many received him to them, he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in his name. 6 (39m 4s): First John three, one behold, what manner of love the father's bestowed on us, that we should be called the children of God. Therefore, the world does not know us because it did not know him. We, because of Jesus can be called the son or the child of God, because we've made a new creation in him. And that means that we are co-heirs with Christ, But we don't become angels. We don't become angels because we're a new creation. We're still humans, but we've been made in the image of God angels. When a person dies, they don't become an angel. Can I dispel that the Bible does not teach that? 6 (39m 45s): Okay. We will be humans. Humans will be humans. And these divine beans will continue to be that. So back to angels, supernatural, divine beans that dwell in a realm above ours in an unseen realm, you see, we have arch angels, messenger angels, guardian angels, angels unaware to us. In fact, the, the one thing that separates angels in the Bible is angels ability to manifest into our world and even disguise themselves as humans. Isn't that interesting angels are able to manifest into our world into our seen realm. 6 (40m 26s): Hebrews 13 chapter 13 verse two says, do not forget to entertain strangers for BISO, doing some, have unwittingly entertained angels. Isn't that interesting that person you bump into on the street, they might be an angel. He was just be careful. You might, you might be that might be an angel that because angels are able to manifest into our scene realm, and that didn't just happen. He's not just warning in, in Hebrews or, or message in Hebrews. It's also in the old Testament in Genesis 18, we see that yawe himself and two other divine beans met with Abraham in the flesh and they ate a meal together. 6 (41m 13s): These angels met with lot and ate Genesis 19 that says those two angels had to physically grab lot and pull him out. That means that angels were able to manifest into our existence into a physical substance and pull lot out of that city. And though even the townsmen of those of that city of Sodom and Gamora thought that those two angels were men it's because the angels are able to manifest Genesis chapter 32 says that Jacob arrested with a man in that text also described as Elohim or Hebrew for God twice. 6 (41m 54s): They had a physical struggle that left Jacob injured for the rest of his life. Matthew chapter four verse 11 says that angels came and ministered to Jesus after 40 day fast Jesus in the wilderness fasting, then, then net by Satan to, to try to deceive him, to try to make him worship God. Jesus was tired after that 40 days, how was he ministered to, is the question, was he just kissed on the cheek by a bunch of butterflies as they kind of like floated around these angels beans that were unseen? No, I think they brought him food. I think they brought him water. 6 (42m 33s): I think they brought him maybe even a pillow or a place to rest. They ministered to his physical bodily needs because they were able to manifest in acts chapter five. We see that angels can open doors. We also see angels appear in speak to shepherds in the field. By speaking, we know that sound waves came out of their vocal chords. So these angels manifested into our existence and were able to speak there by creating vocal, creating these sound waves, which those shepherds were able to hear angels hit the disciples or smacked Peter around to wake them up in acts chapter 12, physically able to manifest into our world. 6 (43m 19s): And it's interesting that the angels throughout the Bible always given in the masculine gender they're, they aren't sexless. There's a book that was written in 1830. It's called flatland by a, a, a minister who was also kind of dabbled in hobbies of, of science and, and physics and stuff. And he wrote this book called flatland, where there was a, he explained and, and brought, made to life a whole world that lived in two dimensions. So the squares or the triangles were female or males in the squares were females. And they, they, he shows how they interact until one day, a three dimensional, a higher being interrupted and, and, and got involved in that two dimensional world. 6 (44m 9s): And it blew the mind of the, the guy that was the, the triangle, how this extra dimensional bean could then intercept and add in. And I wonder how our three dimensional world can be intercepted in, in Why, why, why don't we see four or five or six or 10 dimensions? Like there's theories of science that show because angels are able to manifest. So what about the fallen angels that we talked about last week and the really fallen angels? Let's talk about that. Both Peter and Jews say that both angels who rebelled at the time of no were cast away until the judgment, those angels, that specifically rebelled were cast away. 6 (44m 55s): So what that does is that leaves us two groups of fallen angels. There are those that are bound in chains or locked in tarter. They left their natural habitation, had sex with women, thereby breaking what God had designed them to do. And those, those ones are bound in chains, but there's also a group of angels of fallen angels that are still free to roam. They're the ones that rebelled with Satan, but didn't leave their natural habitations. So what does that mean? It means that some angels, some fallen angels are still at work in our world today. Galatians one eight is the warning, but even if we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel to you, then we have preached to you, let him be a cursed. 6 (45m 43s): Don't listen to it. Don't listen to another gospel. Even if it's some supernatural being, if it, whatever it is, don't listen to it. Let him be a cursed. Ephesians six reminds us of what we're struggling with or what we're wrestling with for, we do not wrestle against the flesh and blood, but against principalities, against the powers against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heaven, places, those are different boundaries in hierarchy. What about in our history? What about our world's history? Have you ever seen or heard of fallen angels come in contact with humans? 6 (46m 22s): What about the prophet Muhammad? The so-called prophet Muhammad 40 years old, he's in a cave near Mecca and he's, he's, he's praying to his God. And in that cave appears what he called the angel Gabriel. Now we know the state that they're a liar, so they can say who they want to be. But this angel grabbed Mohamed and threw him up against the wall and said, he said, read or recite. And Mohamed said, I, I, I don't, I don't know how to read. He was illiterate. He could not read. And he slumped down and the angel, then again, picked him up and threw him against the cave once again, and said, read or recite Muhammad slumped down again. 6 (47m 4s): Once again, after holding them there for a while, thought thinking that he's gonna lose his life. He let him down again. Muhammad was like, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't do that. I, I, I don't have that skill. And the angel once again, the third time threw him up against the cave wall until Muhammad thought he was gonna die and said, read a sight. And then finally let him go. He went back to his home, back to his wife and hid under a blanket, not knowing what he had just dealt with. And that's how he come, how we get the message of Islam, an angel throwing him up against the wall. Or what about Joseph Smith and his dealing with angel Morona this angel that, that then gave him special golden spectacles and a golden tablet and said, there, this read Christianity is not correct. 6 (47m 50s): This is the true religion. And, and, and this is what you're gonna do. That was the angel moron fallen angels involved in our world. Today. You see Dr. David Jeremiah said this. He said, fallen angels don't prevent us from worshiping. Instead they changed the object of our worship. Something other than the almighty God Prevent us. They don't prevent us from worshiping. They just change the object of our worship. That is why it's my personal opinion. I brought this up last week of what UFO are. I believe these are fallen angels distracting us, preparing us in the world for when Christians suddenly disappear. 6 (48m 33s): And I'm talking about the great rescue, the great snatching, where, where we will be caught up in a moment where those who believe in Jesus Christ will be snatched up and, and just gone just off the face of the world. How is the world gonna explain that? Well, they're gonna, they're gonna use these UFO site and these fallen angels that, oh, well, the angels had to take them. New age has a belief that the world will not enter into full piece until those people who resist that are taken away that's within the new age. Belief says my belief that these things are conditionings for what to come. There's a law of prophecy that says future events, cast their shadows ahead of them. 6 (49m 18s): Future events, cast their shadows ahead of them. Turn on discovery plus, and you'll find a whole channel loaded with the paranormal, Go to the history channel. You'll have all this, all this supernatural things there. It's becoming normalized in our culture. So if angels and fallen angels are able to in manifest into our world today, what about demons? What's up with them. And this is what Jesus taught in Matthew chapter 12. Jesus taught that demons are disembodied spirits. 6 (49m 58s): Demons are disembodied spirits. Matthew chapter 12, verse 43 to 45. Jesus said when an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest and find none. Then he says, I will return to my house from which I came, which he, and when he comes, he will find it empty, swept, and put an order. Then he goes and takes it with him, seven other spirits, more wicked than himself. And they enter and they dwell there. And their last state that man is worse than the first shall. So it shall be with this wicked generation. Notice the language that Jesus has using there says unclean spirit goes out of a man out of a man. 6 (50m 42s): And then later on, he says that the Demonn says I will return to my house. That because the Demonn wants to find a place of rest of Possession as a son of missionaries to a third world country. I, I remember hearing some of these stories very early on about how my parents would once in a while, once in a while, come across these people. And, and, and they would try to exercise the demons because this little girl, young age would from her would come the weirdest and most guttural noises and sounds and speak in, in, in horrible things. And that those demons would try to hurt that girl. 6 (51m 22s): And so my parents spent time casting out these demons. I heard that from a young age. So what is going on? Well, Jesus spoke that these demons are disembodied spirits. They seek to find a body and there is levels of wickedness within the demons themselves. You see that demon didn't like whether it left or whether, if it was, it was cast out of that, that man, that person, that body, that it was in, it says, well, I'm gonna return there. And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept and put order. And he says, oh, I'm gonna take seven more, more wicked than myself so that we won't be cast out again Out of a man. 6 (52m 6s): I'm gonna return to my house. So where do these disembodied spirits come from? Be the question we should ask, where do these disembodied spirits come from? And that goes back to Genesis chapter six, Genesis chapter six, verse four says there were giants on the earth in those days. And also afterwards, we'll, we'll leave that. We'll, we'll set that aside for another time. Another discussion there were giants on the earth in those days when the sons of God came into the daughters of wi of men and they bore children to them. And these were the mighty men who were of old men of renowned that were giants is the Hebrew word for Nephem. 6 (52m 50s): There were superior beings because they were half angel and half man that Hebrew word ne ne is, is a compound word it's it's Neal, which means fallen one. See, this was another reason for the flood because the spiritual wickedness that had intercepted the human race, the human seed human DNA, and that the promised Messiah of Genesis chapter three verse 15, would, could not therefore have Satan seed within it. It had to be a pure strain. That's why the Jews were so interested in their genetics, in their lineage, their family lineage. 6 (53m 33s): And as weird as that sounds to us, the technology today is increased in increasing. We have this technology called the CRISPR technology, gene splicing technology, where we're able to split apart the human DNA and there, and put into DNA, other blocks of DNA. Now, that sounds good. When you think of how, how it could be used for cancer, if there's a, if, if, if a person has a, a, a genetic disposition that, that, that caused them to have cancer, well, you think well going in and removing that chunk of DNA, that causes, that could be a good thing, but it also can be used. Very nefariously. 6 (54m 14s): China has openly said that they're working on Chimera, they're working on and they have worked on, and they have created a live pig monkey hybrid. Please fact, checking on that because they eventually want to make super soldiers. They want to take human DNA and mix it with pig DNA. So you get these transhuman soldiers. They're working on that. As all comes down to transhumanism that we can become something greater than God. We, we could become a hybridized at the, at the fall at that second divine fall, where the sons of God came into the Dodge as a woman, they were trying to make their man and their own image. 6 (55m 3s): And that is now continues to gate today with the technology that we're at. So that's why Noah was chosen. Noah was found perfect in his generations, in his Tolo dot because he hadn't his genes hadn't been mixed. And it's interesting to look back at the mythology from all around the world, every culture, even here in the native Americans here in the us claim to have some half human half man demigod and every culture around in the, in the world also has a global flood story with one family surviving it, where these lowercase G God's coming into human women and creating hybrids. 6 (55m 48s): Superpowered beans, Gilgamesh, Hercules, a Achilles, all those speak to this demigods. But what happened to those? NELI those superpowered those half human half spiritual beans. What happened to them? Well, that's why Genesis six over and over again, says that God wiped everything out. A global worldwide flood. They all died. Jesus talks over and over again about that flood and how it wiped everything out. You see the understanding is that the, the Def the Neum, their bodies died, but their spirits lived on their bodies died in the, in the flood, but yet their spirit has been left here to Rome first or second Corinthians five, one through eight. 6 (56m 44s): Talk about how our bodies are home to our spirit. That's why when people have, or claim to have these near death experiences where their spirit is detached from their body, it's because their bodies are home to their spirit. I'm told by another pastor. And I have not been able to verify this. So don't take this as, as, as word, but I'm told by another pastor that the common name for demons at the time of Christ was Timon Neal or dead NELI. So if you can find that source that let me know, please, but that's what I'm told. And it seems to be that this was the accepted view during the time of Jesus, that demons are the disembodied spirits of the neph limb that were killed during the flood. 6 (57m 28s): And they look once again to inhabit an animal, an object, or a body. They want to have a body again, which makes sense with Jesus, talking about them being disembodied spirits. So a couple facts on demons, demons. Also, like we said, it would vary in wickedness and Inkin remember Jesus and Matthew 12 says seven other spirits, more wicked than himself. And then later on in mark, chapter nine versus 28 through 29, his disciples could not cast this certain Demonn out. And when they had Jesus privately, they said, when they'd come into the house to discipled, asked him privately, why could we not cast it out? 6 (58m 10s): So Jesus said to them, this kind can only come out by nothing but prayer and fasting, Prayer and fasting is what, how that kind would come out. You see demons seek to oppress and enticed people to sin. And if possible, to possess a person, which is the, the work that's still going on today, why? Because they want to get a body again. They want to use human vocal chords to speak. If you look at mark chapter five in Luke, chapter eight, we've we, you hear of the, the Legion, the man who had many who was naked, who was wandering the two living in the tombs. 6 (58m 55s): Jesus comes and simply cast them out. But he, but he says, he, he, he allowed those spirits to talk to. I don't know why, but he allowed those spirits to then say, Hey, can we go on those pigs? And those pigs ran off the cliff. And once again, those pigs died. Does that remind you of the flood story? 7 (59m 11s): There's 6 (59m 12s): A connection. The good news is a Christian. A Christian cannot be possessed by a, when they're filled with the holy spirit. That's pretty good. Come on. More amens on that one. Thank you. First Corinthians six says this, or do you not know that your body is the temple of the holy spirit? Who is in you, whom you have from God. And you're not your own. You are bought with a price, therefore, therefore glorify God in your body and your spirit, which are gods. Your body is the temple of the holy spirit. You've been made a new creation. You cannot be filled or possessed by a Demonn. 6 (59m 55s): Now demons have many different kind of names. I encourage you to, to look up unclean spirits, familiar spirits Diablos or devils. We don't have enough time to go into that today, but not everything can come down to well, the devil made me do it. Okay. We battle against a world system against our, our own flesh. And we battle against the devil, the world, the flesh, and the devil, but what are with specific ways to open the doors, to demonic oppression, or for those who are not believers possession, let's talk about those first one would be worship of other gods or idols, worship of other gods or idols. 6 (1h 0m 37s): Deuteronomy 32 says when they provoked him to jealousy with their foreign gods with abomination, they provoked him to anger. They sacrificed to demons and not to God, to God's. They did not know, knew God's new arrivals that their fathers did not fear. That's backed up in, in the new Testament with first Corinthians 10, when he says in verse 19 and 22, what, what am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything rather that the one things at which Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God. And I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. You cannot drink of the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. 6 (1h 1m 19s): That is that's. Yeah. You cannot partake at the Lord's table and the table of the demons, or, or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he see by worshiping things made out of hand, the Demonn can then occupy that object. They, they were what they thought were, they were just worshiping just statues or idols. They were actually sacrificing and worshiping demons. So why you gotta be careful when you, when you, when you move into your house or if your front lawn has a Buddhist statue, a Hindu statue, get that thing outta there. 6 (1h 2m 2s): That's no right in a Christian's life. And even then we still need to be careful of what we bring into our houses. My wife loves the thrift store, the thrift shop. And she brought maybe, maybe she, yeah, I didn't ask her if I could tell the story, but she brought home this plate and it was really pretty, it was a decorative plate. It was kind of made outta her bra and it had some really cool inscriptions and it, but it had this, this kind of almost writing that went around it. And I, and I, I wasn't sure about it. And we had it in a, a house for a number of months. And, and I remember just, just, I never, I just never felt good about that thing. Never. 6 (1h 2m 42s): I just, just felt wrong. And during that time, my, my wife was having dreams and even kind of just strange stuff going on in the house. And I was like, honey, I think we gotta get rid of that plaque. Oh, but it looks so nice. No, it just needs to go. So she ended up throwing away and I never followed up with it a few months ago passed. So a couple months later, a few months ago, she's like, Hey, you remember that plate? And I was like, yeah. She's like, you know, all those things that was like experiencing, they went away. When I got rid of that plate, I was like, weird Worship of other gods right now. We never worshiped the plate. We did not do that. Okay. What about involvement in the cultism oui boards, TA cards, Palm readers, talking with the spirits of the dead witchcraft, spells movies shows even the new thing right now, crystals. 6 (1h 3m 40s): These all have their foundation in the cultism. You can all bring those all the way back to the Babylon, to Nimrod. These are things that we need to be careful of, and we think we should not have any involvement. They open the door to demonic oppression or possession D on the 18 says there shall not be found among you. Anyone who makes his son or daughter pass through the fire or one who practices witchcraft or so there, or one who interprets omens or a sor or one who conjures up spirits or spells, or a medium or a spiritist or one who calls up the dead for all these things are an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations, the Lord, your God drives them out from you before you, these things are, do not belong in the life of a, of a, of a, a Christian. 6 (1h 4m 28s): What about alcohol? Especially too much of it. Where can you find alcohol in a store? You can find it in the spirits section Ephesians five, eight says, or five 18 says, and do not be drunk with wine, which is dissipation, but be filled with the spirit. What is that saying? That you're gonna be either filled with the spirit or you're gonna be filled with the holy spirit, or you're gonna be filled with this unclean spirit spirit. Be careful with that. Jesus warns about worshiping. Mamon what we think of money and our wealth and holding onto it too tight, trusting too much in it is the way we open up ourselves to, to the demonic realm. 6 (1h 5m 17s): What about sexual sin and perversion? We open the door to of our life, to these unclean spirits. We give them footholds in our lives. They are filthy and perverted first Corinthians six says this, please sexual sexual immorality. Every sin that man does outside his body is outside of his body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body, his own, the, the temple of the holy spirit and that word for I immorality, or is fornication. And the Greek word is pornea sexual sin. 6 (1h 6m 2s): It's perversion I'm told the average age currently is between six and eight years old. That if boy sees his first pornography, Six to eight years old parents be very careful with the technology that you allow your kids to have six to eight, open that door into the, the demonic realm where clean UN unclean spirits filthy perverted. The Bible also says that sexuality is anything outside the boundary of one man. 6 (1h 6m 45s): And one woman in a married relationship. Hebrews 13, four says the marriage bed is undefiled, but anything outside that is defiled. That includes transgenderism. Beastiality homosexuality, adultery pornography. All of that is outside the grounds of biblical marriage. And that does not belong in the life of a Christian in college. As I was dealing with my own struggle in this area, remember there was a night when my, my college roommate wasn't home and I woke up in the middle of the night with temptations from a deep sleep. 6 (1h 7m 27s): I didn't share this first service woke up from a deep sleep and there was next to my bed, a bean. And it wasn't there. There wasn't, it was, it was real enough to be not physically there, but there was a spiritual being in my room that was hovering over me. And I couldn't get a word out. I was like, pinned, locked my room. All I knew, I knew that I needed to say the name of Jesus. I knew that I needed to cast that thing out. That the thing had no right to be in my room. And I struggled for a minute. So to try to finally get the words out and that finally, that, that Jesus, that unlocked it in this beam that had a faith that was standing over me. 6 (1h 8m 10s): I somehow molded and just walked away out into where into, into the, where my roommate's room was about 15 minutes later when I got the courage and finally jumped outta bed, I ran and I made sure all the doors and the windows shut and sure enough, everything was locked up. There was a demonic bean in my room that was trying to get me to thin. What about drugs as an opening to the demonic realm? We sometimes think of these things as harmless. Just a, just things that we do once in a while, but drugs in revelation 19 night, sorry, revelation nine verse 20 through 21. 6 (1h 8m 52s): But the rest of mankind who are not killed by those plagues did not repent from the works that the hands that they should not worship demons and idols of silvers, brass stone and wood, which can either see, nor hear nor walk. And they did not repent from the murders of the, or their Soaries or their sexual immorality or their Thefts. That that word forestries is an interesting word because in the Greek, that word forestries actually is the word PIAA PIAA. And that in the context of the new Testament is mind altering substance for a long, long time throughout the century's pagans have used in their worship ceremonies, different plants and different medicinal things to get high. 6 (1h 9m 37s): And once they're high, they're in the altered state, they're in a higher state and they're able to communicate with outside extra, extra dimensional beans. You're giving your Liberty for these demons to enter your life. As you do these mind altering drugs, I'm gonna show a clip. I promised it last week of VI of Joe Rogan. He's a, a world famous podcaster, one of the most listened to podcasters, and he's gonna talk about his experience using a drug, but this, and using this drug, he enters into something that he feels is more real than real. 6 (1h 10m 21s): And from that place where he feels more real than real, he he's getting outside wisdom. So let me just play this clip and we'll go from there. 9 (1h 10m 29s): I have one way of looking at it that I always describe. This is what I say to people. I say, if there was a thing that you could do like a door you could go through and that door would take you to another dimension where you would communicate with Some entity beyond your wildest imagination, that's constantly visually changing and communicating with you telepathically and knows everything about you sees all your, and is trying to impart some ideas that will help you with your life. Cuz it's a God-like experience like you're experiencing like some sort of Uber, powerful entity, some more Uber, intelligent entity, something beyond any, if we just looked at humans and thought of the hu the evolution of human one day, we'll get to this. 9 (1h 11m 19s): We're not gonna get to that. That is a different, it seems like it's so beyond the body. It's so beyond the, the human monkey body, this is what I tell people. I go, if I could give, if you would open a door and you would go there and you'd have that experience, would you do it? And most people are like, yes, I would do it. If I gave you a drug that gave you that experience, you still have the exact same experience. It's the exact same experience. You've just decided it's not real. And you've decided it's not real because you're putting into this category of hallucination. Like what does that even mean? What does that even mean? You're actually having that experience. I don't know what it is 6 (1h 12m 1s): There. Joe Rogan is talking about how he's opening up in a door and that goes back to Genesis, right? Kane soon is knocking at your door and it seeks to master you here, here, Joe Rogan is staying. I, I I'm, welcomely opening this door into my life with this wisdom from outside to come in and give me insight. He's opened himself to demons because demons, if they are the bodies of the distant bodies, spirits of the LAN, they have been around for thousands of years and they've witnessed, they know Joe Rogan's tendencies. They know each of our tendencies, they know what we're our proclivities are. They know what we're what sins draw us. 6 (1h 12m 42s): Everyone has different sins that they're drawn to. And so these demons he's through this drug, he's allowing becomes more real than real. He's allowing these things to speak into 'em He's wrestling with that. Is that more something that's more real than real is because we are being conditioned in this culture into this day and age, that that the veil is getting thinner. The normalization of this supernatural is a trick of Satan to, to steal line from the of great movie, the usual suspects. He says that the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was trying to convince the world he didn't exist. But one of the other tricks, the devil pulls is just to get you okay with the humdrum of life like CS Lewis, the screw tape letter, just, just let them kind of do their thing. 6 (1h 13m 28s): They're okay. Because as we watch more and more and more and more come down the forest, the UFOs, the movies, the TVs, the news, the cold we're gonna be, be getting this. So we need to get back to our supernatural biblical worldview because the world needs it. The Bible has the answers. So how do we do that? Well, one, we, Jesus, Jesus, the name of every other name. We claim the name of Jesus. If you have not claimed the name of Jesus, if you have not become a follower of Jesus Christ, you need to do that today because either Jesus will influence you or these, the unseen realm will be influencing. 6 (1h 14m 12s): You Need to remove that veil from our eyes, realize that there's an unseen realm around us and that we rest will not against flesh and blood. Then for some of us, we need to close the door to the demonic strongholds in our life, drugs, alcohol pornography, those things, those doors need to be closed in the name of Jesus Christ. And those spirits cast out. We need to pick up our spiritual armor and the weapons that God has given us. He's given us directions of how to fight how and to do that. So let's do that. Go to Ephesians six, to look up your spiritual armor that God has given you. And we need to fight by getting on our knees in prayer fast. 6 (1h 14m 53s): When you, when God calls you to fast, pick up your Bible, we need to pray and speak out against our, against the demonic strongholds in our community. Our families in our country, these things are real pray. Jesus, we'd lift up your name higher than any other name, your God in the flesh who came to save sinful man to save us. So we bow our knee to you. God, cuz you've paid the price. 6 (1h 15m 41s): Jesus, we need you. We need you to fight this fight. We need to be equipped for the battle, but help us to dig into what you have for us. For Jesus. Then we pray. 2 (1h 15m 56s): Amen. 0 (1h 15m 59s): Church will you stand as we worship. So make me in offering, make me whatever you want me to be. God, I came here with nothing but all you have given me, Jesus, bring new wine out. Me, me, your 2 (1h 16m 42s): Me 0 (1h 16m 42s): In with nothing 2 (1h 16m 55s): At 0 (1h 16m 55s): All you have given me. Jesus, bring new wine outta these Jesus spring, new wine Jesus, where the is your freedom? Lay down old. 6 (1h 18m 18s): See the fight got brought to me. It became really personal. We bought an old house as a, it's a house that was built in 1934 in Santa Maria. And after moving in and we started, there's strange things happening. My daughter was saying, dad, I'm really afraid at I it's like I see something in the corner of my room. I'm like, that's what do you see, honey? And she described a Grotes old woman in the corner of her room. And I was like, well that's that's really okay. Well let's pray. Let me give you the tools. I use the name of Jesus. If you, if you sense something in your room, use the name of Jesus. Say Jesus, help me, Jesus be here. And that thing will have to flee well, talking to then after that, talking to my next door neighbor, who's a Christian as well. 6 (1h 19m 3s): He's like, I've seen that exact same old Haggard woman as well. I'll be alone in the house and I'll see her peek out, out the corner of the room and then another neighbor. And then my wife all reported three different people, independent of each other, knock talking all reported to seeing this, this abarition. And so we prayed and they, I gave them the tools I gave them that fight guard brought to me. So I said, no, there's either. I'm either run from this or I'm gonna fight it. And we chose to fight and we fight in the name of Jesus Christ. We fight in the power of God, but there is a power. There is Power in the name of Jesus Christ. Come forward. If you need prayer, come forward and deal with that. 6 (1h 19m 46s): Come forward to submit yourself and, and to yield to Jesus today. Thank you. 0 (1h 20m 0s): So make me whatever you want me to be. God, I came here with nothing, but all you have given me Jesus new one out of me. 3 (1h 20m 27s): One more time. 0 (1h 20m 30s): Me your thank me an me. Want to God, nothing at all you have given me, Jesus, bring new wine outta me. Jesus, bring new wine outta me. Jesus, bring new wine out of me. 3 (1h 21m 13s): God, that is our prayer this morning. But the old would fall away that we would step into the new God that you would bring new wine out of our lives, that any bad habits or mindsets, but that, that those would end today. God, thank you for your spirit. Thank you for your power. Thank you for your love in your precious name. We pray. Amen.

1 (2s): Good morning harvest church. When you stand, as we worship the Lord this morning, we worship the God who was, we worship the God who is we worship the God who ever more will. 1 (42s): He opened the present doors. He parted the God, pulls the victim victory, and we sing the God who heals. 1 (1m 29s): We sing to the God. We sing the God who that 0 (2m 1s): In the 1 (2m 10s): Shout we were the, we wear the P there, joy in the house of the Lord. 1 (3m 5s): There's joy in the house of the Lord today. And we won't be quiet. We shout outta your joy in the house of the Lord. Got it. Won't be we shout outta 0 (3m 23s): Your enjoy 1 (3m 26s): Lord. 0 (3m 27s): Enjoy the 1 (3m 31s): Won't. 1 (4m 19s): God, you are all powerful. We to your name this morning, there's the I've seen its battles right in there's that I've seen his praise. 1 (5m 10s): And that's the power of your name. Just mention makes a wave giants falling strongholds break. There is healing. That's the power that I claim. It's the same, the grave. There's no power. Like the there's a hope that calls our courage in the furnace. 1 (6m 13s): The kind expectations that every prayer I made is on an empty that's the power of that's that's 0 (7m 2s): There's 1 (7m 2s): No pav. Come on church, sing this out. I see you taking ground. I see you. Pressa head you. Power is danger to the enemies camp. You still do miracles. You will do what you said for your the same God. Now, as you've always been spirit, spirit breaking out your kingdom, moving in your big tree, claims the ground at the enemy had you still do miracles. 1 (7m 53s): You do what you for that's it's the same. 0 (8m 21s): There's 1 (8m 36s): Like, 2 (8m 47s): God, we're so grateful Lord for your power Lord. As we ponder the power of the living, God, I, I pray God that we would ponder what that means in our lives, in our relationships Lord, and especially heavy on my heart today or marriages, Lord. So as we take a kind of a Salo moment and just pause, Lord, help us to grab, grab hold of that power for our marriages and for the marriages of those, the people in our lives, Lord God that we love and care for. 2 (9m 37s): So deeply Lord, as we take a moment of pause and I'm gonna stop talking is as you feel led, if you feel like man, God's given you something to pray for a verse word of encouragement, go ahead and speak up loudly so we can hear and agree with you. And we'll just take a moment just as you feel led just as you feel LA 3 (10m 25s): Father, I thank you for your power. I thank you Lord, for your strength and for the strength that you give us father, I thank you father for the relationships in a marriage Lord that you bonded and that you've set forth to be a family father. I thank you, God, that you give us wisdom through your power, that you give us strength through your power and that God that no enemy can stand against us. Father. I just thank you, Lord, that God, in this place, that father, the freedom for you to come to this place and to freely speak Lord and to freely father lead us and guide us. 3 (11m 15s): I thank you, Lord, that God that you open the windows of heaven, that you pour out your spirit on those in this place, that God that you teaches the truth of your word and that father, you give us hope where there is no hope and you give us help. Father. When we feel helpless and father, I just praise your name, that God that we come here to worship you and that we're allowed to do that. And that God that without you, we have nothing, Lord, there's nothing. This world has to offer God without you. So I just praise your name and I worship you. 3 (11m 58s): And I thank you on this day, Jesus and Jesus name. 4 (12m 9s): And I thank you Lord for marriage father. I just pray that we would not look to our spouses as God's father, that we would look to you. We would not expect them to be perfect, that we would not expect them to be anything except for what would happen to. We ask fathers that we see them just as we see ourselves as flawed beings so that everything they bring to the table would be a blessing father because our whole dependents will be upon you and not upon men. And we thank you for our father. We pray for your holy spirit that you deny us strengthen us us because we know that father in the breaking down of the marriage comes to breaking down the country. 4 (12m 56s): We see that happening all over. So I asked father, did your help us stand strong? And I thank you for so to 3 (13m 4s): Thank pray for strength for S for healing, the grace would be extended. God. There would just be 2 (13m 18s): Exceeding health and kindness and grace for one another. Lord, God that we would live together in harmony as husbands and wives, Lord God extending wonderful kindness and grace, God, we're not being kind. Lord. I, I pray that you would challenge us and give us the grace to be kind. When we want to do something different, we want to lash out. We want to say something that will only further harm Lord God. So give us the grace to love unconditionally supernaturally. So everything that you ask us to do in this life requires a supernatural power of the holy spirit, the, the word and the will of God through us to do what you've asked us to do. 2 (14m 6s): So I pray God that we would have greater capacity to believe greater ability to understand what that looks like and how to walk it out. And then just greater fruitfulness as a result of just allowing that to flow and intentionally just moving forward with that grace and power, doing the stuff that you've called us to do. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. We're gonna sing another song. And for those tuning in online and watching this service, we know that there's a bit of silence on your end and I would just encourage you to take that silent opportunity just to worship and just to be present with the Lord. 2 (14m 52s): I would encourage you not to be put off by that or be distracted by the silence, but just to be present with the Lord during that time, and for us who are gathered, we can't always hear what's being prayed or said or communicated and that's okay. The people around those who are speaking, they hear it. And so we just need to be patient with that process and okay, with that process that God's doing stuff. And even if we can't fully hear by God's grace, we can just be in a worship full place and agree and just see what the Lord will do as we just humbly wait during this time. So we're gonna be doing this Sundays and as part of an act, our active worship toward the Lord. 2 (15m 39s): And so I'm going to step down now we're gonna sing another song and then we'll, we'll keep moving forward. Amen. Let's let's continue to worship 1 (16m 15s): Who's I know that you one who to the, for I got, I need you. 1 (16m 58s): Oh God, my God. I need you now. How I need you now I know with you all things are awesome. 1 (17m 48s): I'm calling on the God. David who made courage. Oh God, my God. 0 (18m 10s): I need you. 1 (18m 11s): Oh God, my God. 0 (18m 13s): I need you 1 (18m 15s): Now. I need you now on standing. Oh, you heard your children and you hear your children. 1 (19m 20s): Now you are the same God, you are the same. God, you answered prayers back then will answer. Now you are the same God, you are the same God you are providing that. You are providing. Now you are the same. God, you move in power. Then God move in power. Now you are the same God, you are the God you 0 (20m 8s): A healer. 1 (20m 10s): You 0 (20m 11s): Are a, 1 (20m 13s): Now you're the same. 0 (20m 16s): God, 1 (20m 17s): You're the same. 0 (20m 19s): God 1 (20m 20s): You savior that. You're the, 0 (20m 31s): The the God, 1 (20m 34s): Oh God, my God 0 (20m 35s): Need 1 (20m 36s): You. Oh God, my God, I need you now need you rock, rock standing. Oh God, I 0 (22m 20s): You're 1 (22m 20s): Afraid the is. Then you are freeing heart trying. Now you are the same. You touch the, then I feel your touch right now. You are the same. You the same calling on the holy spirit. 1 (23m 21s): Almight here ever come. Yeah. 5 (23m 49s): Today, Phyllis, this morning, we just asked that your, your holy spirit would fill this place. Lord, we're here for you. We're in awe of your goodness this morning, God, we just asked that your will would be done in this place. We, we lift up our hearts to you. We offer our hearts to you. We ask that whatever you wanna do in and through our lives, whatever you wanna do in our hearts, whatever you wanna do in our minds, Lord, we, we just give ourselves to you completely, fully, totally Jesus. Because that's the only way we can experience freedom through you is just giving ourselves totally to you. So Lord, we relinquish our rights to our minds, our bodies, our souls, our hearts. 5 (24m 31s): And we just give it to you. Lord, we just ask that you would do your work through us. You'd work in us in Jesus name. Amen. Amen. Alright, you're welcome to take a seat. If you'd like my name's Curtis. It's great to have you all here this morning. First, before I get into announcements. I just wanna say that it's Tim Tim's birthday here. Yeah. It's Tim's our tech director here playing base today. No, no, he's not 17. He's no, it's a bit older than that. Anyway. I won't divulge how old he is anyway, but yeah, he's doing amazing things to the tech and obviously you can, he's scheduling all of our team members and stuff and doing a great job. 5 (25m 18s): So thank you Tim. Doing amazing. So yes, also. So we've got some life group signups happening next week. So stay tuned for that. We've got some amazing life groups coming up. If you want to get connected into the church, if you're new here or if you just don't know very many people, please join a life group next week. We'll we'll have a life group flyer available for you. You can look through 'em and pick the best one for you. We're just, we offer these so that you can get connected. And so that you don't feel like you're on the outside and oftentimes it can be easy to just be a spectator at church. We want you to be involved. 5 (25m 59s): We want you to get to know people. All right. Sound good. All right. So sign up next week for those also we've got a new college group starting up, so it's great because we've had kind of a gap between high school and then young professionals. And so now we've got a college group for you. If you're, if you're in the college age, feel free to join. That starts beginning of September. So if you want more information, you can head back to the info center with that. And if this is your first time here, or if you're newer as well, we would love to just get to know you. And so if you'd like head back to the info center and get a communication card, we'd just like to get to know you a little bit better and figure out a way to connect with you and make this church feel a little bit smaller, more connected. 5 (26m 46s): So do that. That'd be great. Thank you also, we've got a minute mingle coming up, but first we've got a baptism or a, a video recap of last week's beach bonfire, baptism barbecue. And it was incredible. We had 17 people baptized and so cast your eyes on the screen, check it out, 0 (27m 21s): Warm to praise. Praise. 5 (28m 44s): All right. Yeah. So it was an awesome time. If you want to get baptized, please head back to the info center and let us know. We'd love to have you get baptized. So now we're gonna get up and mingle with one another. Get to know somebody you don't know, and we'll be back in just a minute. So thanks. 7 (30m 42s): I love is 0 (30m 45s): Why 7 (30m 47s): Sing. 0 (30m 52s): I'll sing. 2 (30m 55s): Alrighty, come on back. Sing. We're gonna be in first, Peter, just for the first couple verses today and come on back Lord, as we get ready to open up your word, we thank you, God, that your word speaks to us now, as it has over this over the, the millennial Lord, God, you have just, you continue. You continue to speak to us and reveal truth to us. And so God, we invite you to do that today. We invite your will to be done. Thank you Lord. For your grace. We love you in Jesus name. 2 (31m 36s): Amen. Well, something weird was happening to me when I was sitting over there. I got like this weird equilibrium thing going on. Is that the right word? Equi. Lack of equal. You've been through that. Yeah. So pray Jan, why don't you pray for me? This is pastor jam. By the way, guys, I'm gonna let Jan pray for me here. I just feel like something's Amis here. Breathe. Ready? 3 (32m 7s): God. We pray for our pastor. Yes. 2 (32m 10s): You've given him 8 (32m 11s): A word for the day and you've opened up your scriptures to him and he stands here. Ready to speak for you and speak for the congregation and help your holy spirit. Roll down on holiness road down and worship. Roll down today. Thank 2 (32m 32s): You. 8 (32m 33s): So bring holy spirit power. Holy spirit power in this man. Thank you. And clear up his ears. Yes, Lord. Give his ears heal. Whatever is giving him this sense of being off, knowing that you are on. Yeah, that's right. And you were here and you were here before we asked you to show up. And Lord, we just asked that you would be with our pastor here. Thank you, Lord. Let him be to us. Matthew and mark and Luke and John and KFO. Rocky. Peter. Yeah. Yeah. Let him be for us your word today. 8 (33m 14s): Thank you 2 (33m 15s): Lord. 8 (33m 16s): So Lord bless him. Hold him close in your hand. Thank you, Lord. Give him the wisdom and knowledge that deep pool that Proverbs tells us runs deep. He's been storing up your word in his heart and there's no lack of faith here. Thank 2 (33m 31s): You, Lord. 8 (33m 31s): There's overwhelming openness to your spirit. So healing and strength for the day. Yes, Lord your grace sufficient for every need and pray in Jesus name. Jesus name. Holy spirit come. Thank you, Lord. Amen. 3 (33m 47s): Thank brother chair. 2 (34m 2s): So pastor Jan has been a pastor for decades and decades and decades. He was at the Grover beach Presbyterian church for a long time while I was an associate pastor at crossroads. And then when we planted this church and he resigned in 2008 to do other stuff and to take care of his wife. And so thank you Jan, for praying for me. Appreciate you brother. Thank you very much. So good to see you here today. So very good. Hey, first Peter chapter one, greetings from Peter, as we said last week, Peter is this, you know, the guy who was kind of gruff and tough and always putting his foot in his mouth, always kind of out of step, just a little bit with God's plans until until God really got a hold of him and filled him with this spirit and then wonderful and supernatural things began to take place in Peter's life. 2 (34m 51s): And part of which we see in early in acts, where he preaches and the multitudes come to faith in Jesus. And then we see Peter following Jesus decade after decade after decade, trusting him believing the gospel message and ultimately giving his life for it. As we mentioned last week, crucified, upside down, giving himself to the kingdom because he, he believed it through and through. There was nothing that was going to rattle his faith early on his faith was rattled a bit, but there was something that God did in him. And maybe that's something that God needs to do in us. Maybe you're in a place where it doesn't take much for your faith to be rattled and you need, you need God to do something deeper and more significant and supernatural in your lives. 2 (35m 38s): If you need God to do that, just invite the holy spirit into your life, to do that work and to work, make that work of sanctification real, that work of holiness real in your life. And so we're reading first, Peter today, a man who had waffled a man who was kind of gruff and stuck his foot in his mouth and did things he regretted at times. But then God, but God, and that's, isn't that just the beauty of knowing God we can say with Peter, but God, he rescued me. He sanctified me. He filled me with his power and his grace to do the work that he's called me to do. 2 (36m 20s): He's given me the ability to bounce back and God wants to do that with you as well. If you've struggled, give God the grace allow God's grace to just fill you and wash over you so that you too can bounce back. This letters from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ called by Jesus. Jesus said to Peter, come follow me. And I will make you fishers of man. I'm writing to God's chosen people who are living as foreigners in the province of poncho Galatia, captia Asia. And Bethia again, these are Roman provinces located in what now is called Turkey. 2 (37m 2s): It's a place called Turkey. And we have a, a missionary in Azure by Jean, which is near Turkey. And we pray for him. And we talked about him last week and I encourage us to continue to pray for Igar in that work in by John. He is working to seek and to save those who are lost, but not just to seek and to save those who are lost, but to equip and release workers into the harvest field so that people might come to faith in Jesus. So I just love it that God has had his focus on that region, that part of the world for thousands of years now, Peter wrote this and now down through this, century's got us still working in that region. 2 (37m 43s): So God is so patient. And if you think God's been patient with you in your life, he, well he has, but this is just his nature and who he is, he's patient with us. So that more would come to faith in him, but also so that we would be sanctified set apart for his kingdom work. It's it, it's a process, a lifelong process that got us faithful and patient to accomplish in our lives. So this is who Peter's writing to verse two, it says, God, the father knew you and shows you long ago as his spirit has made you holy as a result, you have obeyed him and have been claims by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace and peace. 2 (38m 26s): So who is Peter writing to verse? One says I'm writing to God's chosen people. And we touched on this last week that we wanted to get through the whole message last week, but we weren't able to with everything else, everything else that was going on, good stuff. But we, we get back to it and we're gonna get through the whole thing this week, who is Peter writing to he's writing to God's chosen people, your Bible might say to God's elect. And again, who are the elect of God? The elect of God are those who have been chosen, right? So if we participate in an election, we make a choice. We cast our ballot for a person that we long to see elected. 2 (39m 6s): We choose that person. That's essentially what the election of God means that it means chosen. And by God to abstain salvation through Christ, Christians are called the chosen or the elect of God. And so it brings us to this question, did we choose God? Or did God choose us? Did we choose God? Or did God choose us? We tend to think in Greek ways of thinking, as opposed to a kind of a Hebrew thought, we have this kind of linear process for understanding truth. And we're, we tend to be a little more black and white. We want black and white answers for the theological questions that we have really for all of the questions that we have in life and Jeremy, our youth and family pastor gave me this book recently, it's called the forgotten Jesus, how Western Christians should follow and Eastern rabbi. 2 (39m 60s): And so there's a great portion of script writing in here and I'll just read it to us. It says, and again, this is kind of contrasting Hebrew mindset, Hebrew thinking versus Greek mindset and Greek thinking. They Hebrews and Greeks think about things all together differently. And so as we get a taste or a glimpse into a Hebrew way of thinking, we begin to understand scripture with greater clarity. We have better understanding about the culture in which this truth was communicated and preached and taught and understood. It says here in page 28, the ability to hold multiple options, intention may be why many Western readers of the Bible struggle with paradoxical concepts. 2 (40m 49s): We long to have a single answer to a question or a problem, and we apply this approach to doctrines such as divine sovereignty versus free will the kingdom of God being future versus present and election versus man's responsibility. But these seemingly contradictory doctrines may be congruent. They may be congruent in the Jewish cultural framework that gave birth to Christianity. So if you ask a Jewish man, did God choose you? Or did you choose God? 2 (41m 29s): He will likely say yes. So that's kind of a, a little bit of a backdrop for us to help us understand the complexities of some of these things that we study in our Western culture. We, we just want, we, we wanna see things kind of in a linear way. We want to one plus one equals two, one. We, we just, we want to understand it in that type of a way, but there's paradoxes in scripture. And if we don't understand that there are paradoxes in scriptures and that truth is paradoxical, then we will miss some of the deep truths that are in scripture. So sermon title, did we choose God or did God choose us? 2 (42m 13s): So we're gonna be looking at Arminianism versus Calvinism today. And so we're gonna be looking at the five points of Calvinism and kind of their counterpart, the five points of Arminianism. And we're gonna do our best to try to understand what the Bible talks about when he talking about election. When he's talking about four knowledge, when he's talking about sovereignty, when he's talking about predestination, all of these things. So the five points of Arminianism from Jacob Armen, he was a theologian who lived from 1559 to 1609. Is that better? 2 (42m 54s): Can you guys not hear me? How's that channel? Oh, there we go. Thank you. So this is my tech team over here. Thank you very much. And you guys hear me now. So the five points of arm mini and our Arminianism, the five points of Armen of Arminianism from Jacobus. Armenians are in contrast to the five points of Calvinism. So Calvinism is a theology and often we hear about Calvinism versus Arminianism and they're both they're Theo. They're, they're the theological positions that are created by theologians who have studied God's word and who just happen to come up on two different sides of an argument. 2 (43m 40s): Can we have fellowship with Calvinists as Armenians? Can we have fellowship with Armenians as Calvinists? We better be able to have fellowship because we'll be spending eternity with them forever and ever amens. So sometimes we can get a little dogmatic and say, Hey, I can't as a Calvinist, be a friend with Armenian, or I can't as an Armenian, be a friend with a Calvinist, but man, we have to all fellowship together in any given fellowship, there might be people landing on both sides of the aisle. So Calvinism is a theology. It can be explained simply using a five letter acronym tulip. And so we're gonna unpack tulip today and help us to understand just with greater clarity who God is and what it is that we understand about him. 2 (44m 28s): The set of religious principles is the work of John Calvin. Again, 1509 to 1564, a French church reformer who had a permanent influence on several branches of Protestantism. So Calvinism and Armenians both have five points, right? Let's compare the two, the Armenian five points are human free will. And we'll just take one at a time and just kind of compare the two. And then you can arrive at your own conclusion at the end of it all. And I'll introduce actually a third perspective as well today, just to muddy the waters just a little bit more for us, human free will this states that though a man is fallen. 2 (45m 12s): He is not incapacitated by the sinful nature and can freely choose God. His will is not restricted and enslaved by his sinful nature. So that's kind of, I feel like I need to get back on track here. So as we talk about that, let's understand something called common grace. The term common grace is not found in the Bible, but it's a term that is used to put a label on an aspect of grace. Like the word Trinity is not found in the Bible, but it's helpful in describing who God is. And so common grace refers to the goodness of God. The blessings that flow from God that is, that are common to all people, whether they are believers or UN believers. 2 (45m 60s): So do we understand common grace? So there's blessings and I've got a verse that help us understand it, but there's blessings in this common grace arena that fall on believers and unbelievers. So not all of God's blessings only go to God's people, but there's blessings that we all enjoy. A great example of common. Grace is Matthew 5 43 through 45. It says you have heard the law that says, love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies. Pray for those who persecute you in that way, you'll be acting as true children of your father in heaven. And here it is for, he gives sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the, just and on the unjust alike. 2 (46m 45s): So there's the blessings of God that flow sunlight and rain on the good and the evil, the just, and the unjust alike. The five points of Calvinism can be remembered using the acronym tulip. So T stands for total depravity. So an Armenian would say, Hey, we can choose God. We have the capacity to choose God T for the tulip stands for total depravity. It's the belief. The belief in total depravity takes the view that sinfulness pervades all areas of life and human existence through the fall of man. 2 (47m 26s): Humanity is stained by sin. In every aspect, heart emotions will mind and body. And this means that people cannot are unable to independently. Choose God. They cannot save themselves. God must intervene to save people. And as an Armenian, we would believe that that's true. Cause I tend more toward Armenian than Calvinism. So we would agree with some of the statements that Calvin makes, but we also would take issue with some of the things that he says, Calvin Calvinism insists that God must do all the work from choosing those who will be saved to sanctify, sanctifying them throughout their lives until they die and go to heaven. 2 (48m 16s): So Calvinists cite numerous scripture versus supporting humanities, fallen in simple nature. And we're gonna look at some of those. And we, we agree across the board. If you are a believer in the Lord, Jesus Christ. If you are an evangelical believer, we believe that men are sinners, all have Sinn and fall short of the glorious standard of God, the grace of God. So we, we all fall short of God's standard. Matthew 7 21 says for, from within out of a person's heart and this kind of illustrates the evil of man come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, less full desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. 2 (49m 3s): All these VI things come from within. They are what defile you. So we agree together, whether you're on whatever, whatever side of the aisle you're on. We agree that we are sinners in need of profound, the profound grace of the Lord, Jesus Christ. So again in Armenian would agree that while this is all true, man is indeed of sinner in need of God's saving grace. God's common grace and the world allow men to make good decisions. So that common grace that we experience in the world allow men and women to make good decisions. So to illustrate that we've all known people who don't know Jesus, but who are good as the world would de describe and define good. 2 (49m 48s): We know people in the world who don't know Jesus, but who are kind compassionate, faithful, generous. All of those things. We could all point to people in our lives who don't know Jesus, but who, who are really, they have a lot of good character qualities in their life. The common grace of God allows a sinful to pray person to choose God because of that common grace there's, there's a work of God in the universe that allows people to even in their broken sinful, to prove, recognize their desperate need for God and able to make a choice. Again, if you wanna look at another theological perspective, you can investigate Molan there's another, a theologian came up with this term or this perspective it's named for its 16th century, Jesuit Louis D. Molina. 2 (50m 45s): So these are arguments that the church has been or debates, arguments, debates that the church has been going around and around about for hundreds and hundreds of years. So when we get to heaven, we'll have it all straightened up for us and cleared up for us. Mullin is a system of thought that seeks you reconcile the sovereignty of God and the free will of man. The heart of Molan is the principle that God is completely sovereign. And man is also free in a libertarian incense. Molan partly seeks to avoid so-called theological determinism. The view that God decrees, who will be saved or damned without any meaningful impact of their own free choice. 2 (51m 28s): Today's highest profile defenders of Molan are William William Lane, Craig and Alvin plant GU. So if you wanna look up those guys, that would be on you. So human free will versus the total depravity of man. We would agree that man, we are totally depraved. Calvinists would say, because of that depravity, we don't have the capacity to choose God Armenian and Armenian would say, well, we believe that we're depraved, but because of the, the grace of the Lord, the common grace of God in the world where we have the capacity to choose, all right, let's take a look at conditional election versus unconditional election. 2 (52m 12s): The Armenian position, conditional election, God chose people for salvation based on his four knowledge. How many believe that God has? There's four knowledge that there's God is so four knowledge I'll just read. The definition is the awareness for knowledge is the awareness or knowledge of something before it happens or exists. My theology says that God knows everything before it happens. He doesn't need to look down to discover something, look down. He just, he understands it all before the foundation of the world. He understood and he knows all truth. 2 (52m 54s): So God has four knowledge of everything. So that, so that nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing surprises him. God knows who will respond to the gospel message. God knows. Before we are born, before we are created, God knows who will be his and who will refuse him. People are elected. They're chosen when they choose or elect God, people are chosen. So you, you wanna know if you're the elect, do you choose God? Then he chooses you. You're the elect you've been chosen by God, God knows who will choose him. So they are elected. 2 (53m 35s): God is not surprised by anything. He knows all things. It's called the omniscience of God. God is mission. He knows all things, nothing surprises him. There's nothing that he doesn't know. And anytime in history, throughout forever and ever eternity passed and eternity future, there's nothing that God doesn't know and understand a completely grasp in the tulip of Calvinism. U stands for unconditional election. The Calvinist view says, God chooses, who will be saved because people are dead in their sins. 2 (54m 15s): They are unable to initiate a response to God. In eternity, past God, elected certain people to be saved. This saved people are called the elect and God picks them based, not on their personal character or, or merit. So God chooses them not based on their personal character or merit, but out of his kindness and sovereign will. It also means that election for salvation is not based on God's fore knowledge of who would come to faith in him in the future. So Calvinists believe since some are chosen for salvation, others are not. 2 (54m 60s): So what's the opposite of salvation would be damnation. So Sal Calvinists would believe that some are chosen for salvation. Others would be chosen for damnation. Those not chosen are the damned destined for an eternity in hell. So some would argue that God is not fair. And, but that, that perspective is not fair, but I don't, I don't, I don't like the word fair. It's not a good theological word, but the word just is the word just describes the eternal character of God. He is just, he is faithful. 2 (55m 42s): And he is just so theology is the study of the nature of God. If we want to know who God is, we need to know his nature. And part of his nature is that he is just and Calvinists and Armenians both believe that God is just, we just kind of interpret things a little bit differently. First, John one nine. But if we confessed our sins to him, he is faithful. And just to forgive us, our sins and to cleanses from all wickedness. So what do we mean when we say that God is just that word has meaning and it has weight. 2 (56m 23s): And as we understand the meaning and the weight of that word, we begin to clarity. We begin to get clarity about who God is and how God functions in the world to, to, to be just means that he is perfectly righteous in his treatment of his creatures. He is perfectly righteous in his treatment of his creatures. God shows no partiality. And if you're taking notes, you can write down acts 10 34 that God shows no partiality acts 10 34. He commands against the mist treatment of others. 2 (57m 3s): Zacharia seven, 10, and he perfectly executes vengeance against the oppressor. He perfectly executes vengeance against the oppressor. Second test one six, Romans 1219 God is just in meeting out rewards, meaning God is not unjust. He will not forget your work. The love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. Hebrews six, 10, he's equally just in meeting out punishment. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs. And there is no favoritism IANS, 3 25 justice and a righteousness. 2 (57m 51s): We cease from Psalm 89, 14 justice and righteousness. It's always where hand in hand are the foundation of God's thrown. So let's throw out the word fair because it's kind of Lucy goosey term. It's not a theological term. Let's use the word just is God. Just of course, God is just, he's not God. If he's not just now let's compare universal atonement with the L in tulip, which stands for limited atonement met limited atonement. Armenians believe in Armenian believes in universal atonement. 2 (58m 34s): So there's universal atonement versus limited atonement. There's gonna be a test by the way, at the end. How many, know what the tulips stands for right here? Okay. Universal. Atoma the position that Jesus bore the sin of everyone, whoever lived that's universal atonement. That's not universalism. Meaning that everybody goes to heaven. We're not talking about universalism. We're talking about universal atonement that God for God. So love the world that he gave. His only begotten son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. And so we're talking about universal atonement versus limited atonement, which was the Calvinist believe limited atonement is the view is the view that Jesus Christ died only for the sins of the elect. 2 (59m 24s): According to John Calvin support for this belief comes from verses that say, Jesus died for many such as Matthew, 2028, Hebrews 9 28. I'll just read those verses and you can see how someone might arrive at this position. So Christ Hebrews 9 28. So Christ having been offered once to bear the sins of many will appear a second time not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly, eagerly, waiting for him. So the many there trying to understand the context, the immediate context, the wider context, and the complete context of the scripture speaks to those who give themselves to Jesus. 2 (1h 0m 10s): Those who are the saved and not everybody has given themselves to Jesus. So Christ having been offered once to bear the sins of those who have, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him, Matthew 20, 28, even as the son of man came not to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. So this point is one of the more controversial beliefs of Calvinism. So some, some would say, I'm not a five point Calvinist believing in all of the tulip, but I'm a four point Calvinist, which is fine in some levels. We're probably some of us might be two point Calvinist, three point. 2 (1h 0m 53s): We might be zero point it's. You know, these are things that we have to sort out. So those who teach four point Calvinism believe Christ died, not just for the, just, but not just for the elect, but for the entire world. And they cite certain verses that we know. And I just did John three 16 for God. So loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. And so the atonement of God is for the world. That's 2 21, and it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved first enemy two, three, and four. This is good. And it is pleasing in the sight of God, our savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 2 (1h 1m 38s): And first John, two, two, he is the propitiation for our sins and not four hours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. So we've got these conflicting kind of ideas are, are many as Armenian people believe are they saved? Would if, if you're an Armenian, you know, holder of Armenian theology, would you say that you're saved? Yes. Okay. Would you say that if you're a Calvinist holding to Calvinist theology, would, would you say Calvinists are saved? Yeah. We're all part of the same family, right? Molan if you kind of have that moralistic perspective, would, would that person be saved? 2 (1h 2m 21s): Yeah, we're saved by grace through faith. And as we sort out these differing theological perspectives, that's why there's a thousand different churches and denominations in the world because we all have different perspectives. All right. Let's talk about resistible grace versus irresistible grace, the eye and the tulips stands for irresistible grace, resistible grace though, the teaching that the grace of God can be resisted and finally beaten. So as to reject salvation and Christ, so resistible grace versus irresistible grace irresistible grace is the belief that God brings his elect to salvation through an internal call, which they are, which they are powerless to resist the holy spirit supplies, grace to them until they repent and are born again. 2 (1h 3m 18s): So irresistible grace would say that God is so determined and extends his grace so strongly that it's ultimately irresistible. Now there's arguments within the church. Can you lose your salvation? Irresistible. Grace would say, no, you can't because the grace of God is irresistible. And even though you may backslide or fall away for a moment or a time, you will come back because of that irresistible grace, some would say, because that is true. You can't lose your salvation, but others would believe. Yeah. Yeah, you actually can fall away. Some would say, though, if you fallen away, you actually weren't saved in the first place. 2 (1h 3m 58s): So there's all kinds of, kind of gray around this idea. Can you lose your salvation? I've vacillated on this, honestly, theologically over the years, I've vacillated on this. Can you lose it? If you can. It's very hard because God is tenacious to come after us tenacious to forgive us tenacious, to love us unconditionally. So if we can lose it, it's pretty hard. It's pretty difficult, but I, I'm not gonna say you can't lose your salvation. If you walk away from God and you know, kind of bring stuff, the question was Judas saved. 2 (1h 4m 40s): I guess we'll find out when we get there. Calvin is backed this doctrine with such verses as Romans nine. And so we're just gonna go through Romans nine, 10 through 33, and we're gonna try our best to kind of unpack things in the next minute or two. And I'll just make this statement. God's for knowledge allows him or allowed him to buy a sovereign tea, direct the affairs of men, Romans nine, 10. And again, if you're a Calvinist here, or if you're Armenian, we'll have great conversation about it. 2 (1h 5m 20s): We'll find out someday. This son was our ancestor eyes kind of jumping into the middle of the chapter here. When he married Rebecca, she gave birth to twins, but before they were born, before they had done anything good or bad, she received a message from God. This message shows that God chooses people. According to his own purpose. He calls people. He calls people, but not according to their good or bad work, she was told your older son will serve your younger son. So the context of this passage, I mean, again, we look at the immediate context, the what's happening within the verses around the verse that we're trying to understand in the wider context what's happening within the book that we're studying, and then the complete context what's happening, you know, in the total story of the word of God, what is God's message to us? 2 (1h 6m 10s): So the context in this scripture seems to be talking about not a calling into salvation, but a calling into kind of position or role or responsibility. He calls people, calls people context. This calling is not talking about salvation, but not according to their good or bad works. And so this person wasn't called according to their good or bad works, but for God's purpose, God had a purpose for this person. So your older son will serve your younger son in the words of scripture. I love Jacob, but I rejected or I hated Esau. I love Jacob, but I hated Esau. 2 (1h 6m 53s): That's what the king James says. I think the original language speaks to that hatred. Why? Because Esau rejected. God, did God know that Esau was going to reject him? He did. He absolutely did. And so God, in his foreknowledge and through his sovereign, he was able to shape the events of history and the unfolding of his story history, his story, because he understood with fore knowledge, what everybody was gonna do before they were ever created. He knew. And so he was able to fashion things according to that fore knowledge and in his sovereignty unfold things, as he desired, are we saying verse 14, then that God was unfair. 2 (1h 7m 43s): Of course not for God said to Moses, I will show mercy to anyone I choose. And I will show compassion to anyone I choose. So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can either choose it. We can, we can either choose it nor work for it. Interesting. We can either choose it nor work for it. The salvation of God we is given as a free gift. It says here, we can either choose it nor work for it. So those are some difficult passages that we kind of have to wrestle through, but let's continue on here. So what is God who decides to show mercy? We can either choose it or work for it for the scripture, say that God told Pharaoh, and this is a great and interesting kind of picture. 2 (1h 8m 32s): But as we go back and read in Exodus chapter five, when Moses showed up to Farrow Farrow's response, Moses told Faroh, Hey, I'm gonna, we need to take, I need to take the Hebrew people and go worship the Lord. And Farrow said, who's the Lord that I should fear him or obey him. We get a glimpse into Pharaoh's heart, that it was already hard. It was already disobedience to the Lord. And we see as he goes on, it interacts with Moses that God gives him over to his sinfulness and uses his hard heart to further his purposes. 2 (1h 9m 18s): And so he takes his hard heart and even hardens it even more to accomplish his great purposes in the earth. But Pharaoh already had a hard heart. So God uses that to further his kingdom go back and read Exodus 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 for the scripture say that God told Pharaoh, I have appointed you for the very purpose of displaying my power in you and to spread my fame throughout the earth. So you see God chooses to show mercy to so, and he chooses to harden the hearts of others. So they refuse to listen. Now, if as a Calvinist, we believe that God can harden hearts, then that's, God can do whatever he wants to do. That's the part of the point is that if God's creed humanity, so not to diminish anything of God's power in God's sovereignty, in God's ability, he can do whatever he wants to do. 2 (1h 10m 9s): And it's just, and righteous if God's doing it, but we need to be careful not to misunderstand what God is doing and call calling something just when it's unjust or righteous. When it's unrighteous, we just need to be careful that we're understanding the totality of the word of God or the new Testament, with a clear picture of who God is, the character and the nature of God. So when we look at scripture, we need to ask ourselves a question, is this, my understanding of this scripture is it match the character and the nature of God does it match the story of the scripture? The complete message, the, the context of scripture, the immediate, the wider, the complete context. 2 (1h 10m 50s): We need to understand how to ask these questions. When we study the scripture for the scripture says that God told Faroh, I've appointed you for the very purpose of displaying my power in you and to spread my fame throughout the earth. So you see God chooses to show mercy to someone he chooses to harden the hearts of others. So they refuse to listen. So God's fore knowledge allows him to know what people will do do. And out of his fore knowledge, he acts gly in the earth. He's a just God. Well then you might say, why verse 19? Why does God blame people for not responding? Having they simply done what he makes them do? And the writer says, no, don't, don't say that. 2 (1h 11m 32s): Who are you? A mere human being to argue with God? So the thing that was created by the say to the one who created it, why have you made me like this? When a Potter makes a jar out of clay, doesn't he have a right to use the same lump of clay to make one jar for decoration and another to throw garbage in, in the same way, even though God has the right to show his anger and his power, he is very patient with those on whom his anger falls, who are destined for destruction. He does this to make the riches of his glory, shine, even brighter on those, to whom he shows mercy, we were prepared in advance for glory. 2 (1h 12m 13s): Are we among those whom he selected both from the Jews and from the Gentiles concerning the Gentiles. God says in the prophecy of those who are not my people, I will now call my people. Why weren't they as people because they're Gentiles. They're not Jews. They're not part of the chosen nation, but because they responded to the grace and the mercy of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Now they are his people. So as we think about Calvinism versus our meaning, the question for Calvinists a lot is, Hey, why do you evangelize? If it doesn't matter what we do, we're gonna be saved or not saved. And they talk about human agency. John Piper, especially talks about human agency, that God doesn't work outside of human agency. 2 (1h 12m 57s): So if people are to get saved, it's usually through the human agency of a preacher or missionary. So there's a, in my mind, it contradicts what they believe about salvation because human agency obviously is not capable in our own humanness. We're not capable of choosing, but yet God uses human agency. Those who are preaching the word of God to reach us. It for me, it's, there's a conflict there. It's hard for me to, to, to settle that kind of discrepancy or that, that confusion in my heart and mind and when we are. 2 (1h 13m 39s): And when we are among those whom he selected both from the Jews and the gen tells concerning the gen tells, we read that let's go to verse 26. And then at the place where they were told you are not my people there. They will be called children of the living God and concerning Israel. I say the prophet tried out though, the people of Israel are as numerous as the sand of the seashore. Only arrant will be saved for the Lord will carry out his sentence upon the earth quickly. And with finality. And Isaiah said the same thing in another place. If the Lord of heaven's armies had not spared a few of our children, we would've been wiped out like Sodom destroyed like Gamora. 2 (1h 14m 20s): What does all this mean? Even though the Gentiles were not trying to follow God's standard, they were made right with God. And it was by faith that this took place. How were they made? Right with God like Abraham, they were made right with God, by their faith, their own human agency. And Calvinist would say, well, God saved them outside of their own Involvement because he wanted to save them. But we know from scripture, the old and the new Testament that the righteous are justified by faith were saved by faith. 2 (1h 15m 3s): And so there's a faith element that makes people, allows people to come into the kingdom of God. They were made right with God. And it was by faith that this took place. But the people of Israel who tried so hard to get right with God, by keeping the law never succeeded, the law was a mirror put up in front of the people so that they recognize their sinfulness. It wasn't to be kept for righteousness sake. It was to be acknowledged. God is so righteous and pure and set apart that I could never measure up to him with my own good works. And so I must receive his mercy and his grace for Jews and Gentiles alike, verse 32. 2 (1h 15m 50s): I think that's where we are. Why not? Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law instead of by trusting in him. All right. So human, the human part of salvation is faith and trust. We, we are presented in my opinion, presented with salvation, for God's to love the world. And we have to decide, are we going to have faith? And are we going to put trust in who, in the gospel message in the person, the work of the Lord, Jesus Christ. 2 (1h 16m 34s): All right, let's skip the rest of those verses here for the sake of time. All right, finally, we get to the end of the argument. Armenians, believe a person can fall from grace. The, the P and tulip stands for the perseverance of the saints. So Calvinist would believe that even again, even if you backslide or fall away, that the perseverance of the saints will allow a person to persevere and, and walk with God all the days of their lives. Whereas a person, according to Armenian theology can fall from grace. 2 (1h 17m 17s): Let's just take a look. Calvinism teaches that the elect cannot lose their salvation because salvation is the work of God. The father, Jesus Christ, a savior in the holy spirit, it cannot be thwarted. None whom God has called will be lost. They are eternally secure, technically. However, it is God who perseveres, not the saints themselves. I don't think that bears witness with the rest of the scripture Calvin's doctrine on the perseverance of the saints is in contrast the theology of Lutheranism and the Roman Catholic church, which hold that people can lose their salvation. 2 (1h 17m 58s): Calvinist supports eternal security with versus such as John 10, 27, 28. My sheep listen to my voice. I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life and they shall never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. In first Corinthians 10, 13, no temptation is overtaken. You accept what is common to mankind, and God is faithful. He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but you are tempted. But when you are tempted, he will provide a way out so that you can endure it mean T private total privative man. 2 (1h 18m 38s): Good. You unconditional ion unconditional atonement. L 11 (1h 18m 45s): Limited 2 (1h 18m 46s): Limited. What limited? I wrote it down. You wrote it down. And so 12 (1h 18m 56s): Unconditional 2 (1h 18m 57s): Election, unconditional election was, yeah. You okay. Good. Unconditional election L limited atonement. I IR irresistible irresistible grace and P perseverance. Perseverance of the saints. So did God choose us or did we choose God? Yes. I think it's both. I think it's both. We choose God and God chooses us. God chooses us. And we choose God in marriage. Did I choose my wife? Or did she choose me both? Right. 2 (1h 19m 37s): Even in an arranged marriage, if you look in the old Testament, you look at some of the patriarchs. They, they had a wife chosen for them, but ultimately they were also, their wives were given the choice to them. So I chose my wife and thankfully she chose me now who chose who first? Well in this relationship, I chose her first. And then she chose me. But in relationship with God who chose, who first, what came first, the chicken or the egg, I think God chose us. And then we chose him, but we have a choice to put our faith in him and to trust him or not. 2 (1h 20m 26s): That's my perspective. Now, if you disagree, that's okay as well. I there's lots of verses. We could go and go through and read, but we're already over time by 14 minutes. And so I'm gonna invite the worship team up. I used to be grateful for the clock. Sometimes I'm not so grateful for the clock. Let's go ahead and stand up. And Lord, I, I pray that I haven't confused people more than they were in the beginning. I pray that there's at least a kind of a, an, an excitement to kind of look further into it and to kind of consider all of these things. When we're reading the scripture and trying to understand the character and the nature of God, I pray that Lord, we would just be able to think deeply about the things of God and arrive at healthy conclusions, godly conclusions that fit the context of scripture. 2 (1h 21m 20s): So Lord, help us help us, Lord, help me. Thank you, Lord, for your grace in Jesus name, let's worship. Amen. 1 (1h 21m 51s): All my words, brochure. I got nothing express as I often do with every song. Must and again, have it's except for singing. 1 (1h 23m 10s): I got one. I've got just one. We worship 0 (1h 23m 25s): You. 1 (1h 23m 28s): So, and don't don't you up? 1 (1h 24m 29s): Your, you gotta lie songs. 0 (1h 24m 37s): Praise, Lord. 1 (1h 24m 45s): Don't shy on me. Lift up your song. You gotta lie songs, get 0 (1h 24m 55s): Bad. 1 (1h 25m 6s): Your song, praise you did I 0 (1h 26m 5s): Except for hot singing hall. 13 (1h 26m 28s): Thank you Lord for your faithfulness. Thank you. That you never changed. Thank you for choosing us. 0 (1h 26m 36s): Why don't we 13 (1h 26m 39s): PHIS with your spirit, with your go with us through the rest of the week. As we proclaim you to the world around us, our friends and family and everyone we meet in Jesus name. Amen. The.

My name is De'Vannon and I'll be interviewing guests from every corner of this world as we dig into topics that are too risqué for the morning show, as we strive to help you understand what's really going on in your life. There is nothing off the table and we've got a lot to talk about. So let's dive right into this episode.De'Vannon: Hey, Hey. Hey, y'all I love you so much. Thank you for listening and welcome back again to another week dr. Vernon T Scott is back to drop some serious base on us. Y'all this time around we're discussing his book, the essential guide on how to be a ho.So in this episode, we're gonna get into a really deep breakdown on what exactly sex positivity is.We talk a little bit about present day racism. We discuss personal autonomy.[00:01:00] We challenge you on why you are promiscuous. If you are,and we ponder the question, should tops be canceled? Please enjoy. Hello, are you beautiful bitches out there? My lovely supporters, my lifelong lovers. All of you helped to keep this podcast afloat. Welcome back to the sex drugs in Jesus podcast. I have with you today, your favorite ho the host of the ho lyricy podcast and also the author of a book called the essential guide on how to be a.Yes, his name is Vernon T Scott. There is a doctor ahead of that, but he don't like to talk about that too much, but he went to school and got his edification. And so we gonna give credit where credit is motherfucking do, how you doing the day Dr. Scott Vernon: you know, as the old folks say, I am blessed in highly favor, but , [00:02:00] it's a beautiful day. It's been a rainy ass weekend, but I'm dry as hell today. Thank the Lord, but , I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. It's been a great weekend. I feel re-energized and I also can use a nap. So life is good.De'Vannon: Well, amen and amen. On a Tuesday afternoon as we're recording this So we had Vernon on before y'all as we discussed in the previous episode, and if you didn't catch it, I hope you go back and catch it. We talk about his podcast, the Hoy podcast in depth, we talked about how he's a sexual. He is a sexual experience coach. He gave us some deep insight to how he was sexually harassed by his cousins when he was younger, which is kind of how we closed out the last episode. And so I appreciated that vulnerable story, which can also be found in [00:03:00] his book. And so on today's show, we're going to be talking more about the book before we get into telling people exactly how to be Ahoe.I wanted to just take a moment to get your thoughts on the 4th of July. From my perspective, I feel like the 4th of July has been canceled until we get a Supreme court that has a soul, a holiday that's supposed to revolve around freedom. Doesn't sound very free to me when women can no longer do what their bodies, what they're supposed to.Then we're gonna talk about the shootings that happened on this free day. So what do you think about the first? Vernon: not, not you bringing me in on some tough shit. I was not prepared. I'm prepared. So prepared. Let me start off with the 4th of July. I am definitely with you. Like what the fuck is that? What it's a day. It's a day that I'm off and I'm happy to be off that. Thank the Lord. I get my rest. But I [00:04:00] I'm with you on cancel the day. Like one, like you said, there's no freedoms to be celebrating because we were just restricting those on a regular basis. Like one day we wake up, guess what? Black people are gonna be enslaved again, as though like the current employment system is in the way, like that's doing that or the prison system. So there's that. So for me, I'm not celebrating the fourth until one. We abolish the prison system. Two, we get reparations for black and indigenous people across the fucking globe. I'm not celebrating until women have their autonomy over their bodies because we need that. I'm not celebrating until sex workers are respected for the things that they do.I'm not celebrating till victims of sex trafficking have the resources that they need to heal for whatever traumas that they've experienced. And they are also respected in the society. So fuck the holiday we ain't free.De'Vannon: well, I get what, what he [00:05:00] said. I couldn't say it no better than that, but exactly there. And I served in the military, which is what the whole thing is kind of supposed to be about. People are like, thank you veterans for your service and keeping our borders free. But as an, as an honorably discharged veteran of the United States air force, Fuck independence daySo now on independence day in, in in the Highland area of Chicago, which is supposed to be a really rich area, six people died and like 20 something people got shot the hell up. One of, one of the people who died was like, I think a 76 year old man in a wheelchair because this 21 year old white boy decided to go, you know, do what crazy ass white boys do, which is shoot.Exercise is Vernon: privilege. Exercise is privilege. De'Vannon: exercise is what is it? Second amendment, write the bear arms or whatever the fuck mm-hmm . And so. and then also in [00:06:00] Philadelphia, a shooting broke out and I know two cops got grazed. I haven't heard of any deaths from that yet. So since we're talking about fuck the 4th of July and fucking depends day, what do you think about these shootings that happened? And, and from the perspective in particularly of the fact that. They went and detained this white boy, I think had he been black? He would've been shot on site. Okay. Gun or no gun. And then once they detained him, they said we are not officially charging him yet, you know, in all of this . So what do you think Vernon: so I can't speak too much on the Philadelphia one, but the Illinois one I'm just like, what the hell?Like we have what Dylan roof who got like fucking was it, McDonald's our burger king athlete. He shot up a whole church of people. We have Kyle written house who, what murdered two people and still have [00:07:00] the right to DAPP up police officers and do where the hell he wants to do. And now we have this one who just decides, oh, you know what, I'm stressed out.And I want to go exercise my freedom to the second amendment and shoot up some people who are just there to have a celebration of what the holiday that you're supposedly in support of, because you're such a, such a Patriot. You're such a Patriot that you feel as though that you need to gun down innocent people without a weapon. You're that brave. You're that much of a Patriot. I'll get the fuck outta here. uh, And then we have. You know, the officers who, officers who decide, okay, we're gonna chase this person down. We're going to one, not try to shame any of his history. We're going we have the media, that's bringing up all the positive images of this person, nothing dealing with the fact that he, and assuming his family were massive Trump supporters as though that is something that fits within his ideology of what he's, what he's done.Let's go with like the [00:08:00] Buffalo shooting also within the same ideology of let's shoot up motherfuckers, even though that one's more racially based in this one, but what it's all about terrorism anyway. So what terrorism doesn't have a true race to it other than cisgender white men, but that's different, but like yet still. With this situation, we have officers who, you know, did chase him down, ensure that he lived, but we also have a system of, you know, justice officers, as they're not, who couldn't even stand up for children and you already. So I was like, if you, if you're going, you're going to chase down to protect a white life, but you can, but you can easily gun down any black life that you see.It doesn't make sense. And most of those black lives just don't have weapons on them. So it's easier to [00:09:00] shoot them down in fame that you were what afraid of your life, if you're so afraid of your life, why are you a police officer? Aren't you supposed to be the bravest of the society, but you cannot go in and save children. But you cannot go in and disarm someone who is an active active shooter though. You have the training to do so you cannot go in and do anything to actually support and make our communities better. You cannot even solve rape cases when you have DNA of victims, but you can kill black people and people without weapons sounds about white.De'Vannon: the Cassity of it all.Vernon: but yeah, that's my stance. Sorry.De'Vannon: Well, what's again. Well, once again, what the fuck can I say after that? [00:10:00] What can I say? What can I say? But I have been thinking about, since all of these white people have been shooting up people. You know, black people, you know, there's shootings everywhere, but I, I can't think, has it ever happened where a black person or anybody who's not white has killed like 20, 30 people in a public setting.Vernon: Well, I can't say 2030, but there was that situation in New York New York subway where it was a black man who was going around. I think it was either a bomb threat. And I think he did shoot some people, I think about six. But you know, that's being blasted. Well, it, within that media media cycle, it was blasted everywhere, even on Fox news as though that's not racist as hell. And then you have I think about five, six years ago, there was that one that I don't know if, if he [00:11:00] was law enforcement or a part of the military who was gunning down police officers and they were extremely scared and I think he killed two or three, but other than that, not too many if anything, it will be shrouded as gang violence as though. You know, we don't have a lot of white militia gangs out here. That's murdering people left and right without that title. So I don't know too many gang members who are just out here having mass shootings at the mass shooting at the mass De'Vannon: shooting. Right. And like I heard someone say I was listening to the morning, Joe podcast earlier. One of the guests that they had on there was talking about how all of these, like basically white mass shooters, they put on this persona of being like loan, sheep and everything like that. But basically they are all connected. Mm-hmm , you know, like you're saying it it's like a, [00:12:00] it's like a long distance relationship sort of gang. They all have the same motives, the same motivation, the same, same motives opera, Andy, the same end result. You have like a long white boy who had access to weapons, who you can just walk in the store and get, and, and he had an agenda against. People for whatever reason he was angry. He was bitter. It's like, they're isolated, but not really. It's not real, not really. Vernon: The other misnomer is that they have some type of mental health disorder. I know plenty of people who have mental health disorder, who's not out here shooting up people. Shit. We've talked about this on the last episode, I have like five, I'm not out here. Mass killing people.I'm not masking motherfuckers because I don't, I don't have that in my heart to do so. Like mental health has nothing to do with these decisions that these people are making consciously, they thought about this, they planned it and they enacted it. That's nothing dealing with mental health. That's a conscious decision, [00:13:00] even though, even if they might not be in the right state of mind, as some people might try to put it, but within their reality, within their perspective, they are doing this willingly and they're pursuing that.De'Vannon: Right. So, so what you're saying is they didn't just flash out one day and have a panic attack or a nervous breakdown. You know, you saw the social media posts leading up to the date. You have all the receipts. As they slowly planned, bought the weapons, got the ammunition, staked out the plates. This wasn't like a mental break. This wasn't a mental snap. You saying this was premeditated manslaughter. Mm-hmm Vernon: just as premeditated as January 6th. That's all I could say. we all saw it. we're just like, so y'all, y'all not gonna do anything. Y'all not gonna do anything. Oh, is December 21st. So y'all motherfuckers. Ain't going do anything. You're not gonna, okay. You're not gonna do anything. Okay. It's January 1st. Y'all it's new. Year's are we, we still not doing [00:14:00] anything. They already said they're meeting. They're meeting in five days. They said what they're doing. So we're not, we're letting this happen. Okay. Us in Georgia. Okay. Let's go ahead and make sure we get these votes in.Okay. Georgia ballot have been recounting and everything. Everything's good. Mind you. Tomorrow's the big show.Oh God. De'Vannon: And so black and brown and indigenous people don't have the luxury of setting around trying to plan massacres and slaughters. You're always gonna have your exceptions with buying large. We spend our energy trying to figure out how to get food every day, how to not get shot in the back every day, how to run through our neighborhood safely every day, how to feel accepted and try to go places where we're not gonna be rejected and kicked out.Every race has its issues with white people, predominantly perpetuate this mass shooting violence. Even me when I planned [00:15:00] on to go on trips and stuff like that, I have to look at, okay, where am I going to travel? Am I going to be accepted as being black? There there's places here in Louisiana. We know Thelan the KU Klux.Klan is still around. So I can't pull off at every rest stop or at every city, even today in the year 2022. So I have to say, do I really want to go to this iron belt state or this Midwestern state? Is there anything, is there anyone there who might try to pull a Matthew Shepherd on me, you know, and tie me to a fence and kill me.So I can't just like, I don't feel free enough to just go anywhere in the globe. I have to stop and get pause and say, will I be safe there? You know, this is not, you know, I got all this to think about. I don't have time to be going to shoot up people. You have to be comfortable enough and, and pleasant enough in life to have time to exert energy into violence. And I just don't have it. Vernon: Look, I I'm glad that you mentioned Aras. That's Alabama. I, [00:16:00] I call it by his name, Aras and in order to like, whenever I know I have to travel through there, I have to make sure, okay. Am I going to be going through Montgomery or Birmingham to make it through, through this damn state? Those are the only two places I am comfortable with gassing up my vehicle if I am not going okay, Huntsville too. If I'm not going to go through any of those. Oh, I'm guessing up before I even entered into that state. And if I'm going to Florida, oh, I'm I, my gas tank is is running on the Lord's energy because I'm not trying to stop in Florida until I get to my damn destination. And I'm not trying to travel at night because I don't know those cities like that. Oh, no Lord. Mm-hmm like, these are the, these are the things that we have to think about quite frequently because it's too much crazy shit out here. Everybody's against you everywhere you go. Like I'm just trying to have a good time.I'm trying to torch some ass on a beach somewhere, but no, just because I'm trying to have fun is scary to you. My, my current [00:17:00] kink is making white people sick with my happiness because, oh my God, I will be in in my vehicle driving around, minding my own business with my songs, playing very loud and happy as a motherfucker and loving that. They're disappointed that I'm not sad. De'Vannon: It's a kink. I know that's right. get off, hit off on it. Motherfuckers, get off on it. Vernon: Look does my happiness offend you? MmDe'Vannon: Deal with it, bitch. And so so, so the book is called an essential guide on how to be a ho. So you, you, I read through this book and thank you so much for sending it over Vernon. And I'm very happy that you wrote it for you because I could see that you've got a lot of rage out in this, in, in these pages and everything like that. And authorship is very cathartic. And so whether it's writing poetry or writing a blog or writing a journal or writing a book, [00:18:00] writing is therapy. You know, in writing therapy is something that is often prescribed in mental health settings. And I'm so happy that you are able to have this experience for your own mental health. So at the top of the book, you really get into a lot of what the book is not. And so I want you to give us. Like your take on that, you know, you were telling us how it's not, how to be a fuckboy or a fuck girl, and definitely not slut SHA. And so what is the book? Not Vernon: so all those things, it's not a space for you to think that, oh, this book is going to give me the guide of how I can play the game. This, this book is going to tell me how I can toy what other people's emotions, toy their feelings for me to trick them into thinking that I'm, I'm the best man or woman that they ever want to be with. And then I can just dog, whoever I want to want to dog is not a place of saying that.Oh, just because you're going by the title of ho you are a [00:19:00] degradation to society. No it's a space of learning that it's okay to be sexual it's okay for you to be proud of who you are. It's also it's not. A space to justify a lot of the miseducation that we've received as we've aged about how we should be in relationships rather than who we are within our relationships.Because that is something that varies per person and per couple per throuple per however, poly. You want to be something that varies because we don't all live the same life. So why try to force people to be something that they're. De'Vannon: Mm, tell a friend and then, then I want you to talk about, you know, you, you mentioned how some people like to use religion to come for people who want to be sex positive. So speak to me your mind about how, how religion can be used to try to. Same people. Vernon: So within a lot of [00:20:00] religious circles, especially when you have Southern Baptist Christians, or even just Christianity in general, how sexuality is taboo. You're not supposed to talk talk about that with your family, your friends, your lovers, which is also something that's very concerning. There would always been concerning to me. Like, how am I supposed to have sex with the person? And I can have the conversation about sex with the person. It doesn't make sense. But it's always been used as a way a tool to restrict people in how they express themselves sexually. I remember growing up hearing that, oh, a Christian should never, you know, participate in mutual masturbation or oral sex or anything that's considered sodomy cuz you know, sodomy and Gamora or Sodom and Gamora like.Totally fucked up that, but you know how that is a lesson from the Bible of how you should not [00:21:00] be out here having sex and being wild with other people. And I'm just like, But I don't get that message when I read those verses I did not get that in anything as I grew older and revisit those chapters.I'm like, okay, is it possible that within, you know, Sodom Andora that they were raping a lot of people. And that was a the offenses that the Lord found extremely unhealthy within that society. And it was like, you know what? Let's destroy some shit. Is that, is that not a possibility because all this stuff that you're that a lot of the preachers were bringing to me to educate me on what that message is.I'm like, I'm not finding the evidence in this text. I'm not finding anything. That's really talking about homosexuality other than lay with men or but it's okay. Like, this is the going on the double standards. It's not okay for men to lay with men, but [00:22:00] it's okay for women to lay with women. Both of those are homosexual relationships. That's not that doesn't make sense. Like just all of those things have been taught within a lot of religious circles and it is just trying to unpack those to just see exactly. Okay, who am I within this sexual space or outside of religion? Where do I find myself when it comes to, you know, sexual expression?Yeah. In terms De'Vannon: of like the whole Sodo, the more thing I did, like a whole three part series that dissected those CLO passages. And I recommend people to go back and find them cuz we broke it down. I agree with what you're saying. And I did that with a Dr. Mar Mar Marcia Ledford, who was a You know, a pastor and everything like that in a, within a gay affirming religion. And [00:23:00] and I agree, you know, people have got to learn how to read these scriptures for themselves and, and understand this how subjective the interpretation is. And everybody can read the same text and come out of, come out of it with whatever it is that they want. Air go. We have all of these different interpretations of one text. There's so many different interpretations of the Bible because everybody has a different take on it. What's not okay is for one person to feel like the way they think is the way everyone else should think. And then that's how we get into this whole anti-abortion anti every damn thing, because somebody's trying to say my view of ethics and morality should be everyone else's view. And then that, which is complete bullshit. And it's also arrogant. And it's also how people. A hypocrite and falling through the sin of hypocrisy because the Lord never told you to straighten everybody else out, which is why he stopped Paul Saul on the road to Damascus. You know, everybody always marvels about the road of dam road to Damascus conversion, but I look at it as God stopping somebody from trying to go control of the people, you know, which is what he was [00:24:00] going to go do.He was gonna go be a typical fucking evangelical Republican, and the Lord told, set his ass down somewhere. So we, how can we be, can we be sex positive and still have a relationship with God? Vernon: Oh, definitely. Like there's even something called spiritual sexuality. If somebody wanted to go dabble into that, it's it's most, it is mostly on how your sexual being relates to your spiritual being, which can also relate to your religious being but it's in.In my perspective because I'm not really a religious person not anymore. It is figuring out where does your sexual expression meet your religion based off of your perspective and how your religion then can enhance your spirituality and just finding that type of balance. [00:25:00] So yeah, let's go with that.De'Vannon: I mean, you're right. And I would just, I was, I would just like to remind everybody that it was God that invented sex, you know, not humans, not the Catholic church, not any church or denomination and what man has a tendency to do. You know, to try to take ownership of something and try to package it and rebrand it and sell it to you.Like they're the experts on it when really that's not the case. And, and the same thing goes for the whole Bible. And the same thing goes for so many things in this earth that people, you know, try to, to just to just try to take over. So just remember God created sex. And so when you have questions about it, I suggest you pray and go to him.Mm. You know, throw and ask a damn preacher. You know, don't go and ask nobody, you know, if you're gonna ask them, be sure you ask God too, because the person who gave you a sex drive who crafted your body so that your Dick can get hard and your pussy can swell [00:26:00] and get wet was God, it was not people. I like to go to the head of the organization. And so if I want to find out about this body, I'm gonna go to God. The one who made it first before I go to anybody else, don't you let people tell you what to do with your body Vernon: mm-hmm and, you know I, I forget which friend this was, it might have been high school, but they were I think it was high school. This person, they were referring to the Bible cuz they read the Bible on a regular basis and they were like, Hey, did you ever realize that the story of Adam and Eve can really be A sex tale is just a, a discussion about how people have sex. And after they brought that to my attention, I actually sat back and thought about that even when it comes to the snake and the apple and all that, how those in themselves can be any windows four, the [00:27:00] penis and the the vulva. And when, you know, you commit some things up and a person and the female, or the woman gives birth, there's always going to be some kind of cramp, some contractions. And that's the thing, rather than it being about sin. It's about, okay, we have sex. Here's your sex lesson?De'Vannon: Who am I to say otherwise, , I'm open to all kinds of perspectives on things and stuff like that. And, and that, and that may work for some people, if they don't wanna take a literal interpretation of it, go with it. You know, the important thing is to open your mind. To possibilities of what may be. Right. And then, and for whatever you do not to think against other folks. Now, I might not agree with that. I might choose to say, you know, that the story might be more literal, but that I'm not gonna tell your friend that he's wrong, you know, or I'm not gonna say that I [00:28:00] disagree. You know, I think he's gonna go to hell for thinking that or anything like that.I might be like, okay, that's cute. But you know, everybody has to decide what they think about everything. You can't be one things you have to make a fucking choice. And the beauty of it that we don't have to agree. I love how beautiful that is. I've never heard of that before. So I need time to meditate on that.you knowSo tell me what the. Is we talk about what it ain't, you you've kind of touched on it, but is there anything more else you wanna say about what the book Vernon: is? I will say the book in general is about understanding who you are as a sexual being and owning that and appreciating who you are and understanding and knowing the importance of personal autonomy and consent. When it does come to your daily lives, cuz consent is not something that only sticks to sex. You have to consent to things every single day. One of the things like most one, I was life [00:29:00] coaching. One of the things I will ask some of my clients is have you consented to yourself? And as, and some people don't, they just allow other people to dictate whatever they do with their lives, or they allow others influences to hinder their decisions on what's best for them. And consenting to yourself is allowing yourself to take control of what you do in your life. And you'd be surprised at how, how many people just said no to that De'Vannon: child. If you can't love yourself. Cause mama would say, how the hell you gonna love anybody else? Vernon: Mm-hmm De'Vannon: so many of our issues in this life revert back to a lack of self love and self acceptance. And so in the book, you really, really. Talked a lot about whether or not a, person's gonna find the content offensive and, and something like that. And you, and you said very often, you know, if it's not for [00:30:00] you, it's not for you, you know, move on to the next chapter, you know, and stuff like that. And this is just, I mean, in there you say you hope the person that the reader doesn't find it offensive, but if they do, you have like a lot of warnings and stuff like that, , you know, as you , as I read through it, but what I found to be curious and very interesting and very warming and heartening and endearing is that, you know, you said if the person does find something offensive, you challenge him to find out why they find it offensive. You know, you're not saying you find that offensive, go fuck off, but you challenge people who have opposing views from you. Where are you getting that from? So speak to me about why you challenge the reader to do a gut check and find out why they're offended. Vernon: I, I will say it's because we often don't know other, other people's stories. We make them ourselves. And sometimes you do have to look at situations at face value. And if there's nothing to [00:31:00] really indicate like, oh, this person's completely transphobic or something like that. Where does it say that? Where does it show that? Why are you getting that message? Is there something that you received from other people that said that, oh, based on this phrasing, this person's transphobic. One of the things that I did within the book to ensure that people are, they feel accepted when reading it, because some people might fall into that space of, okay, this person is being very gender specific in their writing. But this is supposed to be something about all people, technically speaking. As I mentioned in the book, I wrote it for African American masculine presenting people as like the target audience. I wrote it so that it's something that other people can read it and still, you know [00:32:00] connect with like even the sex scene between think Jordan and Aubrey I think that's their name.I forgot. But even with that, I purposely chose not to utilize any Like gender specific or sex specific sex organs, because why what's the person purpose of doing that? If you cannot put yourself in that scene. And let's say even if someone coats into that consent chapter and they find out, oh my God, how dare he say that? Why is this conversation about consent? Something that you are pushing against? Because all I'm providing is the facts of, of the matter based off of my actual research on it. Now of course, things within consent can vary. It truly can. Most definitely you come Frank. Personal autonomy, but what is that pushback coming from?Because I remember multiple times [00:33:00] whenever I even held a consent workshop. Right. Some of the people there, most definitely it comes to like, you, you don't have ownership over your wife. They're like, oh no, we're in this marriage together. I own all of her actions. And I'm like, no, your wife is a whole nother person.Like they have personal autonomy. Mm-hmm , you should not be trying to control them. So that's why I tell people to challenge themselves, to figure out. Why do you believe that? Why do you feel as though you have ownership over your spouse? Soly? Because y'all are, y'all signed a contract with each other, rather than seeing them as a whole nother individual.De'Vannon: I like for that same thinking to be extended into all areas of our lives. You know, I challenge everyone. Any belief you have, why do you believe what you believe? Mm. You know, if you can't answer that question, well, then you running off of [00:34:00] somebody else's playbook for your life. Mm. And sometimes it feels good to do that because it gives you power and control over other people. But in trying to gain power and control over other people, you lose power and control over yourself. It's a, it's a tricky thing, but the Lord said it like this in the Hebrew Bible, he said that it's possible for a man to take a whole city and not have control over themselves. You see? So it's easy to go and conquest somebody else, but you have no control over yourself.Vernon: You see, try that sounds like government. De'Vannon: Oh, it is the Lord is speaking to many, many, many, many, many people, any sort of person or entity that wants to rule another person, be it one person in a relationship wanting to dominate another, the government overreaching or whatever. All that energy could be turned internally. And then you could improve yourself rather than trying to fuck with other people. Mm-hmm . [00:35:00] Now you said in the book that being sex positive does not necessarily equate to promiscuity. I want you to preach about that because there's certain somebody in my life and I'm not, they shall remain nameless. You know? The other nameVernon: joking, I'm joking, you De'Vannon: know, there're a certain, somebody, you know, say the name. So Vernon: say their name, say the name De'Vannon: mm-hmm you know who Their interpretation. They were like I'm sex positive. And this person was sleeping with four to five different people per week. And there was a whole argument thing that happened. And they were like, you know, I'm sex positive. I can have as much sex as I want. And I was like, I don't think that being a, you know, sleeping with 20 different people a month. It's the same thing as sex positivity. And so when I saw this in your book, you know, [00:36:00] it triggered that old anger that I had towards him.and so I'd like you to just preach on that. Vernon: so the thing is, if you wanna be a promiscuous person, be a PROMIS promiscuous person and own that, and just, just be like, look, I love having sex and that's fine, but that does not necessarily mean that your sex positive, because sex positivity means that regardless of how any person chooses to express their sex, as long as it has consent involved, you don't care. You are just like, I'm here for you. I'm not shaming your kinks. I'm not doing anything like that. I want you to be successful in how you out here fucking or not fucking or whatever the case is. Like, you can be out here doing osmosis for all I care. I, if you are, I want to know how the fuck that thing is going on.Like, teach me how to osmosis bitch. I want to know but like. If in terms of promiscuity, you have to ask yourself, am I promiscuous [00:37:00] because I'm hurt and I'm trying to escape from that in other bodies. Am I finding love in other bodies? Because I don't love myself. Like what is going on? Like if you're not, if a person's not necessarily digging deep to figure out why they're sleeping with multiple people outside of, I just love the pleasure of it.Then there's something that is going on with you that you might need to, you know, check on. Like, I don't know that person, I can't write their story, but if, if you have to, here's my thing. Whenever I have meetings with like past clients and they say I'm the type of person that, okay, this is you scripting who you are.Rather than showing who you are. I don't, you don't have to preface. I'm the type of person that does this all the time. Now, if you choose to do that, I get it. You just wanna make sure people know that this is who you identify as whatever. That's cool, whatever, but are you really, that person [00:38:00] is your actions meeting up to these words that you're actually providing to other people. If you have to start off. Speaking about your sexuality by saying I'm sex positive all the time. You could, you might not be sex positive as you think you are. You probably might be out here shaming, every single person who's having less sex than you, or more sex than you, or just the same amount. And you just don't realize it because, Hey, I'm going to use that sets positive. So I can say something completely shady and off the hinges. And I don't want anybody to shame me against that or correct me or respond to my personal actions. So it's like multiple lenses to look at that. But yeah, it's, it's definitely not the same thing. One is allowing others to be themselves and the, and the latter is I'm just fucking, be it through trauma, be it through love for self or healing.[00:39:00]De'Vannon: I challenge everyone to, to search for why. Why they have sex? Like what do you view it as, you know, anybody who, who wants to like, try to have sex with me? I wanna know. Okay. What are your views on sex? What do you get out of it? How, you know, we have to have a conversation in my, when I, my late teens. And it was just like, you have a hard Dick at work, stick it in, you know, but I don't go back and try to hide behind the norm of sex positivity. No, I wasn't being sex positive. I know I was trying to patch up a hurt heart by jumping in the beds of as many men as I could get each week, far more than five sometimes per week. But I never tried to act like it was cute or it was a positive thing. I knew I was damaged, you know, and I was, you know, had a bad relationship with my dad and everything. And I wanted to find this in the hands of as many masculine men as I could. So I ain't, I'm never gonna be like, oh, that I was being sex positive. No, I was being, I was taking unnecessary risk because I [00:40:00] didn't know how to heal. And so. I just wanted to bring that up because I do think that term sex positive gets tossed around at times as an excuse mm-hmm , you know, and it hasn't been very deeply. You know, really rung out the way that you just did. And I'm just gonna leave it at your words. Cause I can't say it no better. Vernon: See even on top of that, I, I don't know if I put this in the book or not. If I did, I forgot I put it in there, but about it's it's related to celibacy I know I mentioned, you know, people should be celibate.Well, try that and you know, experience how they are. If you are a person who's out here being promiscuous or whatever. Try being celibate and see if you see what advances are, what changes in your life and set the rules of what your celibacy looks like and what some people wanna use abstinence. I don't care. It's interchangeable at this point. I don't give a damn, but set the rules on what that looks like for you. [00:41:00] But take a break from sex for real and figure out if you really are sex positive or you're, or you are going through damage. Cause in my, like I lost my Virginia at age 19. Well willingly lost my Virginia at age 19.And with. With that my body count went from zero to like eight. And this is within like a six month timeframe and I was reflecting and I was like, hold up, I'm out here, wilding. What the fuck is going on with me? That I'm over here just accepting sex from anybody. Who's actually going to agree to have sex with me.And by taking that break, it was two and a half years. I learned that. Okay. Yeah, you do have a little bit of sex trauma that you have not dealt with. So you gotta deal with that. You are allowing other people's what their, their slight embrace of you show [00:42:00] that they do have true affection for you, even though they don't, you are just, you are out here lowering your standards just for that quick hookup. You're better than this. And just taking that time away from sex after having sex allowed me to see myself in a better light and also find a stronger sense of self worth so that when I do go out, go back in these streets, these streets, these days is a mess. So I, I, I, I for Yelp review zero outta zero, I do not recommend these streets are bad. They need to close down business. Fuck those, fuck the streets. But no, don't fuck the streets.streets needs to be celibate y'all, but like, I, I learned so much about myself from taking that break. And even for that friend, take a break, like figure out who you are, figure out what's really going on, go to therapy and see, and fill that hole that you're [00:43:00] trying to fill with dicks and come that's all I'm saying De'Vannon: you better preach fetch. And so. So I wanted to talk about the book, name, you and sent you God on how to be ho I'm always interested in why people title the books as such and in the book, you know, as such they do in the book, you give us a breakdown on the, on the etymology of the word who and why you choose the spell. Ho as H O E not H O.Vernon: so I, I had to do that because one that, the word ho in general has a special place in my heart because I've been caught a hole so many times throughout my life. And this is before I was even sexual y'all like out here ho and hoing. But I, I always was fixated on the fact that, okay, why is it just spelled H O and it, within the black community, we utilize that word in so many different ways. And even when you [00:44:00] have the horror side, the w H O R E, that has different conjugations that are very grammatically correct. And whenever you look at ho O and you, yeah, you can add, I N G you can add all this other things to it, but it's, it doesn't look right. It never looked to be like a correct term. However, I try to put it places, but whenever you put the E on there, It looks like a word that can be con it can be conjugated. It can be changed. It can be you can use it in different sets of your lives. You know, I am hoing. I was hoing. I hold all of these because you added that extra length of, you know, grammar to it.So that's one of the reasons why I decided to, you know, let's go ahead and use this with the E because one, I I'm, I'm always. Tired by the fact that [00:45:00] in this country, we look at AAV E Ebonics, whatever you wanna call it as though it's a lesser language as but people don't realize that a V E is the cornerstone of what's making American literature in language great.Like the, the, in like the slang that a lot of people use these days come from what a V E it comes from African American vernacular English. It comes from our interactions with our own people. It comes from our conversations. Like motherfuckers was not out here saying twerk like that. And then, you know, of course, ying yang, TWIs whistle while it's twerking shit, because yes.But it's like we are making the language. So put some respect on our names and make sure that our words that we use in, however we choose to interchange them are grammatical in every single way. De'Vannon: Mm, I hope I hope so off the work I go Vernon: [00:46:00] yes, yes. I about to put on some like some NEHI heels or some shit.Cause now, now you got me wonder ho mm. Yes, Lord. So De'Vannon: I'm gonna read a quote, which I have a flight amendment to, which I will just point out. So you said from the book, you said for those of you who say that Ahoe is someone especially a woman and I'm gonna add, or a bottom with low morals, jump off your high ass pedestal.I hope you land in your own business because that is what you need Vernon: to mind. Yes. Tell meDe'Vannon: no, tell me why you Vernon: said that because everybody who it's the judgment of it all like you out here calling women holes because they're having sex with multiple people. Why cuz men are praised for doing the same thing. [00:47:00] So you're obviously putting yourself on a higher standard or a higher pedestal than other people who are doing the exact same thing. As you jump off. If this person is considered a low standard, because they're doing what you're doing, get the fuck off you don't deserve to be up there. Jump into your own fucking business. Mind your business, mind your motherfucking business. Cause Hey, I look, this is how well I tell people I did not give you a dime quarter or penny, so I'm not paying for you to be over here.So mind the business that pays youDe'Vannon: yes. You know, this reminds me of like from the Hebrew Bible when Jesus was going through the village and there was the town who, whatever everyone was gonna stone, because in their opinion, she had had too much, Dick slept with too many married. Men had too much sex or whatever. Vernon: Jesus found me. I know.Yeah. He De'Vannon: found two girls and he also loose you and said, he who is without [00:48:00] saying Casa for his stone and they couldn't say anything. You know, my whole thing is this. She didn't become the town whore by masturbating. You know, the man in the, somebody had to help her along this journey to, to reach the status to reach this level in her life. And so in society, you know, if a woman is shame or a bottom is shame, you know, it's like, so even me, you know, when I used to run around Baton Rouge, high on meth, trying to get Dick from all these different guys, you know, I developed a bad reputation, but my whole thing was this. I wasn't doing the drugs by myself.I wasn't the only one in the damn room and whatever sex I did have. I didn't reach my own Dick around and stick it into my own asshole. So, Imean, Vernon: I'm fucking somebody. De'Vannon: So I, I am fucking somebody I'm doing the drugs with somebody, you know, or seven guys could fuck the [00:49:00] same girl at the same time, which is totally cool if that's what eight people wanna do, but why is she the slut? But the seven dicks that was just in her are not.Vernon: you came here and you came, like, I'm the ALU because I'm the one who wanted to have all this pleasure. Do you just fuck the most of, for those who are who love breeding kinks? Were you just fucking six other niggas? I don't know if I can say it on your, I'm sorry. You can say anything you want.Dar my God, were you the one that was coming back and fucking six other motherfuckers come out, out, out out of this pussy, this asshole, whatever you, this mouth where, where you were your children, your could have been the board of children swimming all up in this, over here. but I'm the whore. I'm the who aren't you?The [00:50:00] one. Fuck the, who, what does that make you, if you think I'm bad. And you're fucking the whore. So does that mean you're less than the whore? Are you upset about that? Come on, let's talk about it. You can lay your hand on this Dick. Okay. Lay your head on the Dick. That's all you need to do. Yes, please. The whore, continue to please the whoDe'Vannon: and enough said on that. So, and I guess, no, it's not cuz you know, people. You mentioned this in your book in several places that basically the nega, when people spew negativity towards other people, it's reflecting a fracture and brokenness within that person, who's keeping the negativity. I heard it said this way.You can't give away what you don't have. So when you are broken, you go about the business of trying to find fault other people, another version of this seven guys to go and fuck the same girl or bottom or whatever. And just be like, you know what? That was a good experience. The end. You don't have to have the negative [00:51:00] adjectives thrown in there to try to, to try to make yourself. You shouldn't have to step on somebody else to make yourself feel better. You know, you have a damn problem. Why can't you just be a really fun girl and y'all have a bunch of fun guys. And it was a thing. It was great. And you hope to do it again. Why do you have to go and drag her through the mud? Vernon: Like why , you know, we came here for sex and we had sex.And was, did you enjoy yourself? If the answer's yes. Great. If the answer's no. Okay. Then we don't have to meet up again. Right. De'Vannon: Because what would, what would the guys do if all the women and all the bottoms closed, we closed our legs up and decided not to let you in anymore because we, we get tired of you talking about us.Y'all not gonna to fuck each other because y'all were so like anti having your assholes entered some of y'all, you know, then what would you do? You know, when we were, if we're no longer available, if we're no longer an option, Vernon: all I gotta say. If you were bottom out here [00:52:00] on these streets, find you another bottom because the sex is better and ask that on that start a relationship and everything. And then if you feel as though you need a top and open up your relationship, use that motherfucker don't make it P. They can't get right. They don't deserve you for the women out here. Get you some girlfriends. Those who like who are into women, of course get you some girlfriends, enjoy your time. If you need to get the fleshy Dick every now and again, open up your relationship, invite that motherfucker in and then let 'em go and see and see how long it takes until these motherfuckers get their lives straight. What, what did they say in that made movie clickthat'd De'Vannon: they might be right. They may not be, it is no longer our concern. Well, what did people say? So in your book, you said you poll your friends, your [00:53:00] family, and you even said passers by how they define. A ho and your results were ultimately kind of like inconclusive. What did you find that people were saying? The two that stood out to me was people to find a ho as somebody who's had sex with more than five people, I thought that was a random ass number for someone to come up with. And then the other one was somebody oh, it was a, a bitch. You would lose pussy . Vernon: So , I had a whole Google doc of people's responses. And even on these apps, looking at what people say are what they called other people holes for almost definitely back back in the day on Jack reading people's profiles and talking about, oh, I don't fuck with holes. And then they have a description of what the hole is supposed to be. All of that provided a lot of good details on where people think now the numbers people, that's the thing that really got me now.I just use [00:54:00] five as like a well, whatever number I use as just a, a relative sample, but people would have some random as numbers. Oh. If they had sex with six people. Okay. How many people have you had sex with? Like, how's that a person that's a whole that's. The more bodies you have, the more experienced points, just make sure you being safe out here. That's all, that's all get your experience, points up, be level 99. I don't give a damn but it's like, why, why do you have a set number? Like, is it, and it's rarely even one person, like, it's not like if they have sex with one person they're automatically a whole. And I think the reason why it was never one is because the person who's providing that definition had sex at least once. And they don't want to see themselves as being, you know, a whore just because they had a failed relationship with somebody or because they had a hookup with [00:55:00] somebody and it didn't work out. And I, and I think some of it also stems from the thought that some guys just don't want to date a version to.So having that. Window of having at least your first sexual experience, you know, that they've been out there a little bit. So just having that one person means that, okay, they've had it before now. They have some idea. I hope it was bad. So whenever I'm with them, I can give them the good Dick and they can stay with me or whatever. And then there were also those people cuz over the years I learned that men tend to go this was also another research thing that I looked into, but men tend to overestimate their sexual partners and women underestimate their [00:56:00] sexual partners solely to make men more comfortable when they do talk about their sexuality or, or their sexual histories. So I think that's where, why, you know, you get those. Random ass numbers, because they're either trying tonot project that they view themselves as a whole, because they've had so many bodies. So they trying to put project the responsibility of not being a whole onto the woman or it's whatever. Now, in terms of what was the other part? Oh loose as pussies. That one always bothered me because that tells me that this person doesn't even know the basis of anatomy and how the VO the vaginal canal or the anus works. Cause it's no such thing as a loose pussy. It's just, your Dick might not be as [00:57:00] big as you thought it was. You got open space. You're not comfortable with that. Now there is , somebody's triggered. There is a such thing as, you know, it being is lacking elasticity and that can be due to tearing that can be caused by somebody not respecting the other person's body enough to let them relax properly so that they keep the tightness of whatever sex order you're using.Or it can just be them having multiple sex, but within the day it should usually. Is right back normal. Now if you have sex with someone with like a girthy penis, then it might take a couple days, but it usually doesn't take SU such a long time for the anal canal or even the vaginal canal to just, you know, restrict [00:58:00] back to its normal size.So loose, vaginas and loose anus is, is not really a thing.De'Vannon: WP WP w that's some wet ass pussy. That'sSo you mentioned the word consent earlier, but y'all in his book. He actually, I felt like preached a whole sermon about consent. It's like, it is really a soapbox, you know, a hill that you're willing to die on. So I want you to dig deeper into why the fuck consent is such a big deal and spin in what rape culture is.Oh, child. You, Vernon: you asking me to do all my research in this podcast, Lord. Geez. Okay. so yeah, consent. That is definitely the soapbox. I will definitely dial on and be proud. And y'all not going to take me down because that legacy's going live on it. Just like try if you want to. But like the importance [00:59:00] of consent is that many people don't even know how complex consent is.It's a very simple, yet complex thing. So of course, yes. Means yes, no means no, and maybe does not exist, but that's not all like there's a legal side of consent and then there's a personal side of consent. Legally, if you decide to have drunk sex with the partner, like. You're conscious, conscious, and you're able to articulate yourself and be responsible at the same time.Legally just because you had a sip of alcohol and you had sex with that person, or that person had sex with you, they broke the law. But in terms of personal autonomy, you have not done anything wrong. You did what you were wanting to do with somebody that you trusted. So that's another discussion. And on top of that because we are not taught what consent is, we often do things that are violations to other people's [01:00:00] Bodies for instance, those people who think that just because my partner said yes they cannot end sex at any time or just because they said yes to sex. That means I can take the condom off. That's not consent. That is not they do not know that you're doing that. And even using that excuse which some people have used on me before. You didn't feel that I wasn't. No condoms are made thin as fuck. You have bare skin condoms for that reason to, so that the person who is penetrating it feels essentially as though they there's no barrier there for the most part.So. Most people don't feel it. If you do not have a condom on or not. Now, if it's a thick as Magnum condom, more than likely a person might feel it, but there's no guarantee. So expecting them to be responsible with telling you not to have sex with them without a [01:01:00] condom, because you took it off is inappropriate because you're the one who has the condom on already. You have to communicate with communicate that with your sexual partner, if not, you violated their bodies. And even having that discussion may trigger a person because now they think of themselves as being a rapist which is also something within rape culture that I'm probably gonna get into. Well, I'm definitely gonna get into rape culture a lot deeper, but now this person think that they're a rapist. They definitely sexually assaulted a person when it comes to rape there's power, that has to be present there's What else you need power. You also have to have a higher level of aggression rate, myth, acceptance. And you also, there's a lot of factors to it. Dominance authority within that situation, there's a lot [01:02:00] and not all rates are violent.Let's put it that way, but there's a lot of factors that do go into making a rape. It doesn't necessarily mean that you are a rapist if you do that, but you did sexual assault. Somebody, there we go deal with the consequences of those actions. I'm not here. I'm not your lawyer. I can't tell you exactly what that's gonna be now.In terms of rape culture that is just a culture that minimizes and accept. Rape or any kind of sexual assaults. Most definitely those that go come against women and rape culture has different factors to it that can be victim blaming. That can be SLU, shaming, that can be sexualized jokes. It can be who's been a while. It can be alcohol usage and drug usage to intoxicated person so that you can [01:03:00] have sex with the, with them without the intent of having their consent, their their express consent. It can be the violent side of rape. It's so much shit rape culture in general has over, oh, hyper masculinity is part of rape culture, but it has more than like 14 or so factors to it. And part of my research, just to put that out there is I learned after I completed my dissertation that I wrote on systemic rape culture. And that is how rape culture presents itself in different systems that can be within the workplace policy creation, government entities, our businesses, our police officers, all of that. So, yeah, it's, rape culture, but we, we see it in our everyday lives. You might see. Through [01:04:00] a court case where a victim is sexually assaulted and the perpetrator only gets like two months because rape is seen as a less serious a less serious offense than murder or shoot. It's a less serious offense than like carrying marijuana. So, yeah. De'Vannon: Okay. Thank you for the breakdown. And look, don't be worried about if you can't couldn't remember all the points, you know, like they say in church, you just tell on it, you can't tell at all tell Vernon: true, true De'Vannon: people wanna know more, you know, they can reach out to you and stuff like that.Cuz we not trying to give away the whole M you know, just a little teaser, people need to go buy the thing child you're right. So and so. Talk to me from the book about the game. Now I had never heard this shit broken down like this before. And I think I may have played this game before and certainly have been involved in it.[01:05:00]Now you described the game as a childish behavior for supposed adults. And another quote, you said the term scoring game of fun sexuality and sexual encounters. It provides a point value that does not fully equate to the full value of a person and their self worth preach about the game. Vernon: So the game, the game, the game, it's all like, like you said, it's all about scoring. It's how many bodies can I catch? How many people can I have sex with essentially is about how can I influence this person to think that, oh, look, I love you. I want to be with you. I'll be your world. I can bring this to you. I can make you feel satisfied. I just wanna be your man to ease a person. And I know somebody was just like, hold up burden. Yeah, I can get that but but they can [01:06:00]they F tend to fall for the person and have that expectation that they want something more than just the sex and then they have sex with that person and just leave them. And that's, that's the why I say you have a point system that does not equate to a person's self worth, because they're more than just that sexual act. This is a whole person you're emotionally manipulating this person, just so that you can have sex with them and then to leave them high and dry, just because you can just because you felt as though your sexual desires was so strong, that it doesn't matter how. What you, what wreck you leave that person in?And the game is played by men and women. So let's, let's be clear about that. Cuz I know some some women who literally said, oh, you know what, I'm gonna doubt dog, these NIS out. Like they be dogging us out and I get, I get where that hurt comes [01:07:00] from. I get why you need to do that. But figure. Why you're hurt and figure out how you can avoid that nigga that you're referring to.That hurt you back in the past, that making you wanna do this so that you can do better. And for the men who's been thoughted by women deal with your hurt. So you can figure out why exactly you were hurt and then do better with your lives. Because this is something I had to tell a student of mine in the past. You're going to be out here focusing on dogging these people out, just because this one girl hurt, hurt you so bad that when you meet that one person who challenges you, who bring so much worth to you, you're so focused on trying to find the trick to find the, oh, when is she going to, you know, like dog me out like that old girl did 20 or so years ago that she's gonna leave you.And within months, within weeks within days, you're gonna [01:08:00] realize that you fucked up something good. You will never get that back. All because you wanted to play these damn games. De'Vannon: So what he's saying y'all is to stop perpetuating the negativity and to find out why and, and, and to stop being willing to be so damn childish.I agree with you on that. The games people play just to be about what you're about, you know, or if it says in the Hebrew Bible that the Lord is not mocked whatsoever, man. So that also will he reap, so you can't play these games and twist these people's hearts and just make people a number at another body count.Oh, that was just meaningless sex. I just fuck them. It was whatever that person didn't mean. Anything to me. And then you think one day is gonna come where you're gonna settle down and have you a nice, happy relationship. No bitch. Your dirt coming back to you at some damn point mm-hmm Vernon: now for some De'Vannon: reason, it's hard. It's coming fast and hard. And so within this Breakdown [01:09:00] of the game. You separated the roster though, and you wanted the roster to be different. You gave it his own chapter. And I found it. I don't let me see, I don't know if I quite curious, interesting and titillating and I don't really have the exact word for it, but you used a basketball game. The way basketball players are positioned to, to reference this. I don't know this fucking much
