Fictional character from Cars franchise

Show Notes The second in the Cars trilogy makes its appearance this week and we have a few questions - chief among them is - WHY? Don't fall into the trap I did and think the opener is a movie within the movie - it is in fact just the movie because why wouldn't the sequel to Cars be a Bond film? Don't listen to Lassiter when he says this is about friendship since Lightning McQueen is in this movie for about 15 minutes and is a jerk for 12 of them. If you love Mater, this is for you - and he does prove himself to be kind of a genius. Disney's The Love Bug wasn't just a hit movie—it created one of the most recognizable automotive stars in entertainment history. Long before KITT, the General Lee, or Lightning McQueen, a little Volkswagen Beetle named Herbie captured audiences with personality, charm, and a racing spirit that made generations of car enthusiasts believe their own vehicles might have a soul. In this episode, Rob, Corn Dog, and Bernie revisit the original 1969 classic that launched an entire franchise. From Dean Jones' role as struggling racer Jim Douglas to the villainous Peter Thorndyke and the practical effects that brought Herbie to life, the crew explores what made this Disney film such a phenomenon. They also discuss the movie's racing action, behind-the-scenes movie magic, and why Herbie remains one of the most beloved automotive characters ever created. The Love Bug was a massive box office success, earning more than ten times its production budget and becoming the second-highest-grossing film of 1969. Nearly sixty years later, it still holds up as a fun, family-friendly movie that combines racing, comedy, and heart in a way few automotive films ever have. Join the guys as they celebrate the movie that started it all and revisit one of the greatest car stars ever put on the silver screen. The post K&F Show #369: The Love Bug Movie Review // The Car That Started It All first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.

Welcome back to Capture The Magic! This week we're diving into all the latest Disney World news and there's honestly so much happening right now. First up, Disney just dropped their complete 4th of July food and drink guide and wow, there are some seriously patriotic treats coming our way. We're talking red, white and blue everything across all four parks. Plus we finally got more details about what to expect story-wise when Monstropolis opens at Magic Kingdom. The new land is going to be way more immersive than we initially thought. Speaking of new stuff, Toy Story 5 is bringing some cool passholder perks to Hollywood Studios, and everyone can grab that new Bullseye popcorn bucket. But if you wanted that Lightning McQueen popcorn bucket that just dropped, good luck because it sold out almost immediately. Classic Disney popcorn bucket chaos strikes again. Over at EPCOT, La Poutinerie is opening July 1st and we've got the full menu with pricing. Spoiler alert, it's not exactly budget-friendly but those loaded fries look incredible. And if you've been wanting to do brunch at Citricos, now's your chance since they're moving the Grand Floridian Cafe brunch over there. We're also reviewing those Mickey churro waffles from Spyglass Grill that everyone's been talking about, plus we tried some of the new Bluey treats at Pizzafari. Let's just say one of us was way more excited about Bluey than the other. Plus we're chatting about our recent park experiences including that busy Animation Courtyard, the updated Smuggler's Run experience with Mando and Grogu, and why Soarin' Across America hits different every single time. In this Showdown episode, Conor and Caroline are taking in the sights of two of Pixar's most iconic locales: Monstropolis and Radiator Springs. Is the cozy, metropolitan aesthetic of 2001's Monsters, Inc. enough to overcome Monstropolis's lack of work/life balance? Is the charm of the forgotten town of Radiator Springs in 2006's Cars enough to make it worthy of a pit stop? Show Notes Let's talk about boys vs girls and the societal downfall delivered by car culture this week with Cars from 2006. Yes, Lightning McQueen is a big jerk and Mater is an offensive stereotype played by an offensive stereotype but mostly we talk about boy movies vs. girl movies for some reason. This merchandise powerhouse mostly held our attention and was enjoyable - but would have been even better at 97 minutes. John Humphrey and Jon Maturan rev up their reaction and review of Pixar's 2006 animated classic Cars, a high-energy, heartwarming story about speed, humility, and finding purpose off the beaten path. The film follows hotshot rookie race car Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson, Wedding Crashers, Midnight in Paris), whose obsession with winning lands him stranded in the forgotten desert town of Radiator Springs on the way to the Piston Cup Championship. What begins as an inconvenience slowly becomes a life-changing detour as Lightning learns the value of friendship, community, and slowing down to appreciate the journey. Along the way, Lightning forms an unlikely bond with wise tow truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy, Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector, Cars 2), sparks a romance with determined attorney Sally Carrera (Bonnie Hunt, Jumanji, Toy Story 4), and gains mentorship from legendary racer Doc Hudson (Paul Newman, Cool Hand Luke, The Hustler). Bonjour! In a very special (and very long-awaited) episode of Disniversity, film journalist Ben Travis and animation academic Sam Summers take a closer look at one of the cornerstones of Disney's businesses and creative experiments: the theme parks. And what better way to do that than go to Disneyland Paris? Back in August 2023, a field trip expedition took us into the heart of ‘EuroDisney' (as it was once known). Follow us as we wander around the parks, chatting away about the iconic rides, how Disney translates its features into physical form, all the delicious snacks, our childhood Disneyland memories, and an increasing obsession with Lightning McQueen. Lightning! Lightning! Lightning! Enjoy, and we'll see you soon for the Comeback Era. Next up: The Princess And The Frog Disniversity is brought to you by Ben Travis (@benstravis) and Sam Summers (@samsummers0), with art by Olly Gibbs and music by Nafets. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @disniversity. This podcast is not affiliated with Disney. — Welcome to Disniversity, the podcast crash course through the history of Disney's animated classics, with film journalist Ben Travis and animation academic Dr. Sam Summers. Each week, we'll be moving forward in time through the legendary Walt Disney Animation Studios catalogue, watching every feature film in chronological order – from Snow White to Zootropolis 2. Watch along with us, and listen as we explore each film's historical context, advances in animation and lasting legacy, and talk about how they stand up today.
It’s Nancy’s birthday! Karly got her a cake that says “Happy Birthday Grancy” (the grandma name she hates). Karly had some awkward moments at the Rascal Flatts show. She wore a Lightning McQueen t-shirt and told the band she loved them in the Hannah Montana Movie. She posted about it on TikTok and Gary Levox commented on it. Then she accidentally brought up Taylor Swift to a guy that works at her old label, the one where there’s some bad blood between them. Are we going to get ice and/or snow this weekend? Joey used a sewing machine for the first time this weekend at church. His wife signed the family up to help make blankets for people in need. He thought about trying to get out of it, but he decided to just do it. Hot Tea: Dolly Parton turned 80 years old yesterday and says that if you don’t let yourself get old then you won’t. Chris Stapleton might retire sooner than we think, and when he does, he’s shaving the beard. Kenny Chesney admitted that he got so distracted while performing at The Sphere that he forgot his own song lyrics. What did your parents make you apologize for? Joey once accidentally drove through a neighbor's yard and drove away, but his mom made him walk over there and admit what he did. Nancy stole a paper envelope from a store when she was 5 and her mom made her return it and apologize. It’s Nancy’s birthday and she asked Joey to serenade her. He played his piano and sang “Happy Birthday” to her. Lucky 7 for $50 to Pinchy’s Joey keeps track of how much money his kids owe him. They like to buy toys in the store, but Joey has them use their own money. He covers the cost for them but expects to get the money back once they get home and have access to it. Nancy thinks he is teaching them responsibility and wishes she did that with her kids. Group Therapy: Am I A Jerk for Not Tipping on To-Go Orders? The LA Rams played the Chicago Bears in 5-degree weather over the weekend. To stay warm, some Rams players put cayenne pepper in their socks. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week, a look behind the scenes on how Disneyland transforms a land for the holidays, the new Magic Key calendar released, a popular attraction is getting it's first refurbishment, guests can send letters to Santa Cars in Cars Land, we talk about a little known version of Tomorrowland that never was, and more! Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. Check out all of our current partners and exclusive discounts at https://www.dlweekly.net/promos. Howard Johnson – http://www.wyndhamhotels.com/hotels/01051?corporate_id=1000098677 News: The Disney Parks YouTube channel is at it again with a new glimpse behind the curtain to show what it takes to get Cars Land ready for the holidays. In the latest Disney Unscripted episode, they follow the crew that transforms the land from Halloween to Christmas overnight. From warehouse to park and all the work to get completed in one night before the guests show up in the morning, this video shows it all. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/cars-land-halloween-holiday-transformation/ Disney has posted the availability calendar for the new Explore Magic Key that we spoke about last episode. The new key will have extended availability in the summer, opening up a lot of days in June and July that the Enchant Key was blocked out for. There are some other dates that are blocked out on the new key, so take a look at the link in the show notes if you are interested in comparing. – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/ The standard refurbishment for Haunted Mansion after the holiday season has an end date. January 23rd will be the return of the classic Haunted Mansion variation. Also added to the refurbishment list for the first time is Star Wars Rise of the Resistance. It will enter refurbishment on January 20th, with no current return date. – https://www.micechat.com/428675-disneyland-news-construction-portos-rise-of-the-resistance-haunted-mansion/ Navigation around the park after nighttime spectaculars might be a little easier to see. New electronic signs have debuted that give guests directions on where to go to get to certain locations in the park. This replaces the cast members yelling directions, or the dimply lit handheld signs that were previously used. – https://www.micechat.com/428675-disneyland-news-construction-portos-rise-of-the-resistance-haunted-mansion/ A fun activity is available in Cars Land. Inside of Sarge's Surplus Hut, there is a display with a red mailbox. At this mailbox, you can write a letter to Santa Car. Mater will then take everyone's letters to Santa Car to the North Pole, along with his friend Lightning McQueen. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/12/14/confirmed-this-might-be-the-best-holiday-thing-you-can-do-in-a-disney-park/ A small version of “it's a small world” appeared on the Disneyland Instagram this week. The video showed off a model of the classic attraction in the park, in front of the full-sized attraction. The video goes on to show the creation of the miniature, which features 120 individual bushes, trees, and shrubs, and took over 200 hours to create. The miniature is on display in the small world toy shop. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-small-world-model/ As we reported last week, work has finally begun on the new Porto's location in Downtown Disney. Construction walls have gone up and encircle the ticket booths on the Disney California Adventure side of the west esplanade. This is a great sign of progress. Another area slow to redevelopment has been the old ESPN building, which now has signage up for lululemon! The old Tortilla Jo's location, which has been sitting stagnant since demo finished in the summer, is still happening, but waiting on permits with the city to continue. Construction here should hopefully resume soon. – https://www.micechat.com/428675-disneyland-news-construction-portos-rise-of-the-resistance-haunted-mansion/ SnackChat: Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/downtown-disney-district/jazz-kitchen-coastal-grill-patio/menus/ Discussion Topic: Tomorrowland Star Wars Retheme – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-star-wars-retheme-concept-art-from-doug-chiang/ Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The crew heads to Las Vegas for SEMA 2025, bringing with them plenty of laughs, chaos, and one classic Dukes of Hazzard re-review: Season 1, Episode 12, “Route 711.” With Rob and Bernie on the ground (and Corndog holding down the home front), the team dives into the gambling-themed episode that mirrors their Vegas backdrop—complete with Bo and Luke unknowingly hauling a rolling casino, Uncle Jesse turning card-shark, and Cooter pulling strings behind the scenes. The guys also reveal some big updates for Kibbe and Friends: live Patreon broadcasts moving to a new platform, new YouTube plans for 2026, and the behind-the-scenes grind of capturing interviews across SEMA's sprawling show floor. From there, it's full-throttle storytelling—Dallas Kibbe's run at the Legends Asphalt Nationals, a turbocharged Holley feature, and a round of movie-car trivia that somehow loops Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Cars' Lightning McQueen into the mix. Add in Bernie's trademark “news you didn't ask for” (rogue monkeys and all), and you've got another classic K&F blend of cars, culture, and comedy. It's Vegas lights, Georgia dirt, and General Lee nostalgia rolled into one big laugh-filled episode. The post K&F Show #344: Dallas Races and the KF Show Hits Vegas for SEMA 2025! Dukes of Hazzard Review: S1E12 “Route 7-11” first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.

Did Cars from Pixar ignite your passion for automobiles? You're not alone. "Lightning Lit the Spark" is a heartfelt tribute to the film that turned bedroom floors into racetracks and diecast cars into lifelong obsessions. In this special episode of The Collector Car Podcast, Pixar's Jay Ward returns—not just as the man behind Cars, but as a guest judge at the Hillsborough Concours d'Elegance, one of the most prestigious collector car events on the West Coast. Host Greg Stanley chats with Jay about how the Cars franchise continues to bridge the gap between animation and authentic automotive passion. From his work developing iconic characters like Lightning McQueen and Doc Hudson to his personal love of vintage steel, Jay shares how real collector cars helped inspire the Pixar universe—and vice versa. Plus, we're joined by Glen Egan, Chairman of the Hillsborough Concours, for a quick interview on what makes this year's event so special, what cars to watch for, and why Hillsborough continues to be a must-attend celebration of automotive excellence.
Ex-Internetstar anredo ist back from America, zurück von seinem abenteuerlichen Männer-Roadtrip.
