We have a THATH first - a special guest! This week we sit down with Tia's friend, Emmy nominated rapper and all around G.O.A.T., Genesis Renji and talk about everything from monogamy, polygamy, and what Genesis sees for his love life in the future to our opinions on Kanye West and dissecting some of his headline-grabbing statements. This is such a fun episode with a third (and male!) perspective, and we hope you enjoy it! Genesis Renji is an Emmy nominated hip-hop artist based out of Milwaukee, WI. Born in Bethesda, MD, Renji started rapping at 12 years old after his cousin Pierre introduced him to rap music. Freestyles with his brothers and cousin was something he did to fit in. This search for acceptance turned into a passion for performances in middle school and later, spoken word slams in high school. After seeing Lupe Fiasco's “Kick, Push” video, Renji started actively writing and recording himself. Some of his other early influences were Chamillionaire, Lil' Wayne, and Eminem. As his interests grew and musical taste expanded, so did his sonic palette. Having a creative signature of penning vivid stories like Kendrick Lamar and pairing them with catchy, vibrant hooks like Childish Gambino helped translate into memorable music and performances from the Milwaukee emcee. From opening for hip-hop legends Jean Grae, Pharoahe Monch, and Skyzoo to creating intimate show releases with cereal bars, Renji's performances are monumentally unforgettable. Shows like these have led to his highlight performance for Aminé in front of 7,000 festival goers at Summerfest in 2018, and a sold out Milwaukee Bucks halftime performance for a crowd of 17,341. Since 2011, Renji has released a consistent and heavy flow of singles, EPs, and albums. In 2018, Renji released his LUCID EP, the Gemini Season series featuring 31 songs for 31 days straight, as well as his critically acclaimed S.I.N.S: Stories I Never Shared album that garnered positive reviews and his fastest success from a release. Along with his heavy catalog and work ethic Renji is engineering for independent artists, most notably Chicago emcee Gerald Walker of Stalley's Blue Collar Gang, and leading the front running his label House Of Renji which hosts artists Emmitt James, Jayne Joyce, Maal Himself, and producer Gldn Child. Setting trends is a way of life these days, good and bad. Not only socially, but also in politics. For instance, our President has something planned that could set a negative trend for those with student debts. More than 400,000 people have planned their careers and financial futures around the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. With the promise of debt forgiveness after 10 years of payments, the government program has allowed some people to return to school and pursue their dream jobs. President Trump's proposed budget, released Tuesday, calls for eliminating the already-troubled program for new borrowers. The cut, which requires an act of Congress, would save $27.5 billion over 10 years if enacted. Passed by a Democrat-controlled Congress and signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2007, the program promised loan forgiveness for government and nonprofit workers after they made 120 months of on-time payments. This October marks it's 10th year and the first time anyone will have made enough payments to get their debt wiped away. Explosions at an Ariana Grande concert causes numerous casualties. Witnesses said a large explosion took place towards the end of her set, just after an encore performance. The Manchester police have confirmed there were at least 22 casualties, who were killed by a suspected suicide bomber. This story sets a tone and new trend. Drake broke singer, Adele's five-year-old Billboard Music Awards record. The Canadian artist took home 13 trophies-the most wins in one night-at the 2017 edition of the ceremony, congrats! Catherine Zeta-Jones is set to play Colombian drug queen Griselda Blanco in an upcoming biopic for American network Lifetime. The film will begin shooting later this year and will premiere in 2018. Blanco was killed in Columbia in 2012. The Rihanna and Lupita Nyong'o heist movie that the internet dreamed up is really happening! The world basically fell in love with the idea of Rihanna and Lupita Nyong'o starring in a heist movie together after the fierce females were photographed sitting next to each other at a Miu Miu fashion show in 2014. A movie based on a meme? Stranger things have happened in Hollywood! We also had special guest, Hip-Hop artist "Genesis Renji" talk to us about his latest projects and his upcoming tour. Check him out everywhere @genesisrenji and at www.houseofrenji.com. Until we meet again...
