Drew Herridge with the Marshall-Putnam County Fair Board joined Ken Peel on Wake Up Tri-Counties to give an update for the 2026 Marshall-Putnam Fair. The Marshall-Putnam County Fair is celebrating 105 years with a packed schedule in Henry, running July 15th through 19th, with pageant activities beginning July 12th. Drew Herridge, Director and Chairman of Events, says the fair remains free to enter with free parking every day. Highlights include Wednesday's kickoff dinner and wine tasting, Kids Fun Day on Thursday, the demolition derby on Friday, and America's PPL pull on Saturday. The biggest draw is Thursday night's concert featuring Scotty McCreery, with Taylor Bruninga and Cody Calkins opening. Fair details and tickets are available at marshallputnamfair.org and on Facebook. Scotty McCreery has been a household name for nearly half of his life, making history in 2011 as the first country artist and the youngest male artist of any genre to debut his first studio album, the Platinum-certified *Clear as Day*, at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. The 31-year-old has sold over 4 million albums and achieved 6 No. 1 hits: the recent “Cab in a Solo,” the RIAA Platinum-certified “Damn Strait,” the RIAA Gold-certified “You Time,” the RIAA Gold-certified “In Between,” the RIAA Platinum-certified “This is It,” and the RIAA Triple Platinum-certified “Five More Minutes.” His latest album is *Rise & Fall*, and his current EP is *Scooter & Friends*, which features the smash hit “Bottle Rockets” with Hootie & The Blowfish.

Last week, we rolled the dice, and now we're stepping back into August 1965, where we build our playlist from the Billboard Top 100 of that month!Join us as we groove through a playlist that shaped a generation, with hits like "Eve of Destruction" and "Like a Rolling Stone." We chat about how these tunes responded to the 60s and why they still hit hard today—whether it's still a bop, or helped shape decades to come.Ever wonder how The Kinks' distortion led to punk rock, or how Tom Jones kept his female partners happy? We've got you with insights, hot takes and some questionable opinions. From Motown magic to folk legends, we explore how music was the ultimate protest tool and why it's still relevant today.Spotify PlaylistBarry McGuire - Eve of DestructionBob Dylan - Like A Rolling StoneFour Tops - Its The Same Old SongCurtis Mayfield -People Get ReadyThe Kinks - All Day and All of the NightTom Jones - What's New Pussycat? The Animals - We Gotta Get Out Of This PlaceThe Righteous Brothers - You've Lost That Lovin' FeelingRoger Miller - King of the RoadSponsor: SeatGeekAll of our hosts love all thing music, and there's nothing like experiencing it live. Legendary Canadian rock band 54-40 have released their new album PORTO with the current Top 40 rock radio single “Running For The Fence” - recorded in Portugal with longtime producer Warne Livesey - and they'll be at Delta's Barns To Beaches Festival on June 20.But the bigger story is that this is one of the longest-running bands in Canadian music history still led by its founders: Neil Osborne and Brad Merritt have stood side by side since they formed the band as Vancouver teenagers in 1980, with drummer Matt Johnson aboard nearly 40 years. Across 45 years, 17-plus albums, and well over 2,500 shows, they helped invent a distinctly Canadian alt-rock sound alongside The Tragically Hip and Blue Rodeo - and inspired everyone from Our Lady Peace to the Arkells. There's a remarkable backstory here too. Their classic "I Go Blind" was a song their own U.S. label deemed unworthy of a full release in 1986 - then, a decade later, Hootie & the Blowfish's cover landed on the Friends soundtrack and rocketed into the Billboard Top 5, and the royalties let 54-40 build their own Vancouver studio. It's one of Canadian music's great vindication stories, and the song was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2021. That thread - a band that did it their own way, outlasted the industry that doubted them, and is still making vital new music at 45 - runs straight through PORTO, which Osborne calls "an album about renewal and resilience."

This week, we are bringing you a heavy-hitting lineup of 'Certified Independent Songs of the Week' from around the globe, alongside an exclusive in-studio guest. Tune in for an insider chat about making music, legendary days spent in Hollywood, and a deep dive into the independent music scene.
When an announcement was made last year that Universal Studios was making a movie about Archie Andrews produced by Hollywood heavyweights, it should have been a victory for one of comics' most enduring franchises. Instead, it triggered a legal war which ties up a Beverly Hills mansion, accusations of threats fit for an “organized crime figure” and a much-awaited movie on the line. With a UCC foreclosure auction set for June 15, the fate of Archie Andrews — and the Archie Comics empire — hangs in the balance. In this episode, 9fin's global head of distressed and LevFin, Max Frumes, sat down with distressed debt reporter Maria Heeter and LME legal analyst Laurie Tomassian, co-authors of a recent investigation into the dispute between lender Raven Capital and Archie Comics co-CEO Jonathan Goldwater to break down how it all unraveled. As a quick shoutout, the episode references and includes short audio clips from the 1969 hit 'Sugar, Sugar' by the fictional bubblegum-pop group, The Archies. The song held the #1 spot on the Billboard Top 100 for eight weeks between October and December 1969. The episode theme song is a tongue-in-cheek homage to The Archies' second studio album, Everything's Archie, created bespoke for this episode by our producer Chase Collum.Clarifications: There's actually no show called “Desperate Mormon Housewives. Instead the popular reality television series was called "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives". Also, while Archie Comics did once don the wrappers of Topps bubble gum, that was in the 1950s, and the host was almost certainly referring to Bazooka Joe.Have any feedback on this episode? Send us a note at podcast@9fin.com. Thanks for listening!

Dust off your pagers and grab a Surge soda! This week, Dave and Rob are hopping into the time machine and dialing the coordinates to June 9th, 1996. The box office was dominated by Mission: Impossible, the Macarena was slowly taking over the planet, and the Billboard Hot 100 was a wild mix of legendary hip-hop, R&B royalty, alt-rock, and powerhouse vocalists What makes this specific week so legendary is the sheer, whiplash-inducing sonic contrast sharing real estate on the charts. It was a bizarre and beautiful era where the mournful, rapid-fire hip-hop harmonies of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and 2Pac's aggressive West Coast swagger sat side-by-side with the pristine, sweeping adult contemporary ballads of Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. Throw in the raw acoustic storytelling of Tracy Chapman, Alanis Morissette's alt-rock bite, and a rising, inescapable bilingual novelty dance craze like the Macarena, and you get a snapshot of a musical landscape that was wildly fragmented yet universally massive Chapters 00:00 - Pagers, Surge, and the Macarena: Welcome to 1996 2:10 - Remembering Peabo Bryson and Our Influencer Status 4:07 - Graduating into 1996's Wildly Fragmented Music Scene 9:22 - Diving Into the Billboard Hot 100: Cuts & Honorable Mentions 13:15 - "5:00" by Nonchalant: A 90s Hip Hop Gem 18:36 - "Sweet Dreams" by La Bouche: Eurodance 1996 22:11 - "Tres Delinquentes": West Coast Latin Rap's Breakthrough 26:37 - "Old Man and Me": Hootie's Underrated Sophomore Album 30:25 - Kicking Off our Best of 1996 Billboard Top 10 31:27 - Everclear's "Heart Spark Dollar Sign": An Interracial Love Story 35:00 - Coolio's "1,2,3,4": A Fun Summer Jam 38:57 - Dishwalla's "Counting Blue Cars": Mid-90s Post Grunge Classic 42:36 - Garbage's "Only Happy When It Rains": A 90s Rock Anthem 46:25 - Lenny Kravitz's "Can't Get You Off My Mind" 49:52 - Goo Goo Dolls "Name": A Chart-Topping Personal Ballad 57:13 - Brandy's "Sittin' Up In My Room": A Teen Infatuation Anthem 59:50 - The Tony Rich Project's "Nobody Knows": Country Crossover Hit 1:05:12 - Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason": A Bluesy Career Revitalizer 1:08:04 - Smashing Pumpkins' "1979": The Quintessential Gen X Song 1:10:08 - Snapple, Clearly Canadian, and Our 1996 Billboard List Review Playlists: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3IEysWlUdIzxLhnrSmu1bx?si=DVgK8cegRq-FqwVtoZGlqQ Apple:https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/billboard-hot-100-june-9th-1996/pl.u-76oN9NpFNz2Y05?ls Amazon: Click HERE to access the Amazon playlist for this episode https://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100/1996-06-15/ Connect with Totally 80s and 90s Recall Website: https://bleav.com/shows/totally-80s-and-90s-recall/ Email: 80s90srecall@gmail.com Voicemail: (509) 426-4542 Linktree: https://linktr.ee/80s90srecall Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Dusty roads stretch west, the speaker crackles, and Bianca and Julian saddle up for an unexpected detour - Anything But Toto goes country. In this episode, they put their long-held assumptions about the genre to the test with a blind review of the five biggest country songs currently dominating the charts. For two self-professed skeptics of Nashville's clichés, political baggage, and bro-country stereotypes, it's an experiment in open-minded listening. Will they strike gold... or just more rhinestones in the rough? Before riding west, they catch up on some current events: the release of The Lemon Twigs' new album Look For Your Mind! and their bizarre Toronto concert experience, which sparks a broader conversation about concert etiquette and social awareness. They also discuss the backlash surrounding Harry Styles' Together Together tour controversy, and celebrate the ongoing Canadiana cinema renaissance, with love for films like Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, Mile End Kicks, and Blue Heron. Then it's onto country. Bianca and Julian unpack their history with the genre, from observing the suburban millennial migration away from hip-hop and toward country, to the political and cultural forces that may have shaped that shift. Along the way, they revisit some of their favourite country-adjacent songs and trace the genre's many stylistic branches - from California country to polished pop-country crossovers, with stops at everyone from Glen Campbell and Eagles to Shaboozey and Taylor Swift. And then comes the main event: the Billboard Top 5. This podcast will go down on your permanent record! Novelist Nic Brown joins the podcast to discuss his new nonfiction book on the self-titled debut album, Violent Femmes. This acoustic post-punk landmark is an album that took nearly a decade to go platinum -- and then it appeared briefly on the Billboard Top 200 Albums charts. Tunes like "Blister in the Sun" and "Gone Daddy Gone" have gone from secret rock talismans to mainstream classics. Brown discusses interviewing the band now about the strange and scrappy writing and recording of this early '80s album and the countless unexpected stories he wound up uncovering. Get your motor runnin', head out on the highway. Yup, this week we're looking for adventure...and whatever comes our way...because it's an O3L Road Trip! Everyone's piling in the van and bringing five albums with them. Our Third Lad this week has not only spent countless hours on the road, but has made some great road trip albums himself! Jamie James is best known as the singer/songwriter/guitarist of the new wave/roots rock band The Kingbees. The Kingbees recorded two albums for RSO Records (Robert Stigwood's classic label that was also home to Bee Gees and Eric Clapton) - the first of which included the Billboard Top 100-charting single "My Mistake" in 1980. Jamie has also played with a late-70s touring version of Steppenwolf, and spent decades playing with musically inclined actors (or is it dramatically inclined musicians?) Harry Dean Stanton and Dennis Quaid. Better yet, Jamie has a new album out on Oglio Records called Straight Up. It channels a lifetime of grit, heartbreak, and swagger into a punchy collection of blues and rock n' roll tunes. You'll hear some amazing tales of rock n' roll - including crashing Apple Records headquarters, getting bottled off the stage while opening for AC/DC and ZZ Top, and getting a pistol pulled on him by Phil Spector while trying to escape listening to a Celine Dion demo! Your only mistake would be NOT listening! Dang it! This van only has an 8-track player?!?! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

FacebookTiktokInstagramBioDJ, producer, and influencer DJ SoulChild AC is preparing to release his debut album Douby, featuring the single “Eat It Up (Get Up)” with Juiiciana. The project brings together Black artists from multiple genres under his creative direction, showcasing a vibrant fusion of hip hop, R&B, Brazilian funk, and house music.Few can match the drive and resilience of DJ SoulChild AC. Years ago, while working at a local Target, he spent his breaks at a neighboring Guitar Center where a friend worked. There, he taught himself how to operate DJ equipment. As his confidence and skills grew, he began earning respect from other DJs. Within months, he entered a competition. Although he did not win, the experience pushed him forward. Just three months later, he was DJing in nightclubs and had discovered his calling. In 2017, he expanded into music production. Determined not to limit himself to DJing alone, he began learning how to make beats through YouTube tutorials, starting with Ableton as his first digital audio workstation. Beginning his production journey later than many of his peers only fueled his ambition. Inspired by legendary artists who found success on their own timelines, he remains confident that his moment is coming. The name DJ SoulChild AC was born from a late night conversation with a fellow DJ. The nickname SoulChild reflected his deep knowledge of classic music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, influenced by his mother's extensive record collection. Because the name was already in use overseas, he added AC to represent Atlantic City, the place that shaped him.His upcoming 15 track album Douby represents the culmination of months of focused work. The project celebrates the Black diaspora by highlighting Black genres and elevating powerful vocalists alongside his production skills. Among his favorite tracks are “Envy” featuring Nova The Rebel, “The Movement” featuring Jordan Isiah, and “Studio 54,” a pure house track inspired by his love for disco. He believes “Studio 54” has the energy to thrive in any house festival or club setting.Early feedback on Douby has been overwhelmingly positive. DJ SoulChild AC hopes the album will land on the Billboard Top 200, bringing greater recognition to his collaborators and opening doors for future partnerships. Unapologetically outspoken about his political beliefs, he previously lost DJ opportunities in New Jersey because of them. Now, he stands firm. This album is both a creative statement and a declaration of independence. If audiences want the music, they will get both the art and the artist.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/creator-to-creators-with-meosha-bean--4460322/support.

Embracing the “Open” in Open Nesting (Season 6 | Episode 222) with Joy Rose (Season 6 | Episode 222) This week on the Open Nesters podcast, my co-host Amir and I had the absolute pleasure of revisiting a truly boundary-breaking conversation with the incredible Joy Rose. As an artist, activist, and the visionary founder of the Museum of Motherhood, Joy is a master at helping us deconstruct the heavy labels we carry and reclaim the narrative of our own lives. If you are currently navigating your own “Act Three,” this discussion is essential listening for finding your vitality and flipping the script on aging. We dove deep into the complex world of motherhood —to explore how this role often consumes our identity for decades. Joy shares the raw, honest truth about the “redundancy” many of us feel when our children grow older. It can be an almost impossible shift to move from the physical and emotional all-consumption of active parenting to a life where that role is no longer necessary in the same way. Joy's personal journey is a masterclass in finding the “self” at the center of the roles projected onto us. As her own four children have grown into their late twenties and thirties, she has had to learn the difficult art of adjustment, using tools like cultivating her own passions and finding serenity through spiritual programs like Al-Anon. One of the most striking parts of our talk was Joy's take on modern relationships and her rejection of traditional marriage. She spoke beautifully about seeking “great love”—the kind of love that pushes you out of your comfort zone and requires you to show up with integrity and consciousness. It was so illuminating to hear how she and her partner, despite being on opposite ends of the political spectrum, find deep connection through simple kindness and shared values. For those of you looking to explore these themes further, Joy is continuing her work by launching online classes through the Museum of Motherhood website. She encourages everyone, especially “women of a certain age,” to be brave, be expansive, and stop repeating patterns that no longer serve them. Whether it’s through art, study, or simply trying to live on your own, there are so many ways to “show up” for yourself in this new stage of life. We are so grateful to Joy for her wisdom and for helping us “unlabel” the judgments we often place on ourselves and others. As we move forward, I hope you'll join us in witnessing the growth of our families and ourselves with open hearts and fewer expectations. In this episode, Kirk and Paul kick off season 16 of "Music Raygun" by going back in time 40 years to listen to America's top 10 singles of the year 1986 and watch their music videos from the peak of the MTV era.
Author and baseball historian Keith Wood ("The Memphis Red Sox: A Negro Leagues History") joins the show to explore the rich yet often overlooked story of the Memphis Red Sox, one of Black baseball's most resilient and community‑rooted franchises. From their semi-pro origins in the early 1920s to their run through the Negro Southern, National & American Leagues, the Red Sox embodied sustained Black ownership and stability in a turbulent era for segregated sports. Wood details how the Martin family, a group of influential African American professionals, uniquely controlled both the club and its home field, giving Black Memphis rare economic and cultural autonomy around the ballpark. We dig into the social life of Martin Stadium, where Sunday doubleheaders doubled as civic gatherings and a showcase for elite Black talent passing through the Mid-South. The Red Sox story features future Major Leaguers and other notable figures who wore the Memphis uniform - including Dan Bankhead, Bob Boyd, Buck O'Neil, and even country music hall-of-famer Charley Pride - and what their stories reveal about the broader pipeline from the Negro Leagues to integrated baseball. Wood also explains how the forces that followed Jackie Robinson's breaking of the color barrier led to the slow decline and eventual disappearance of the franchise by the end of the 1950s - while leaving behind a powerful legacy of entrepreneurship, community pride, and baseball excellence. In this episode, Rob and Dave fire up the musical time machine and pit 1982 against 1992, two years that changed the sound of pop in very different ways. They start by breaking down each year's Billboard Top 5 hits, where synths, power ballads, and early MTV shine in '82, while '92 flexes with grunge tremors, hip hop dominance, and slick pop polish. From chart-toppers that ruled car radios to songs you could not escape at the mall, they examine what these hits say about the mood, style, and cultural heartbeat of their respective years. But the charts never tell the whole story, so Rob and Dave dig deeper into the tracks that lived just outside the Top 5 and still hit hard today. Cult favorites, album cuts, and radio staples that helped define each year get their moment in the spotlight, sparking debate, nostalgia, and a few friendly jabs. In the end, the gloves come off as Rob and Dave each make the case for which year truly delivered the better music. Was it the neon glow and new wave confidence of 1982, or the raw edge and genre-blending brilliance of 1992? One year will win, one will lose, and the listeners get to ride shotgun for the showdown Pandora: https://pandora.app.link/iq8iShjXOLb Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/totally-80s-and-90s-recall/id1662282694 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/11dk5TUoLUk4euD1Te1EYG?si=b37496eb6e784408 Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/1960c8f9-158d-43ac-89a6-d868ea1fe077/totally-80s-and-90s-recall YouTube Podcasts: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLH9lGakNgCDZUkkHMUu88uXYMJu_33Rab&si=xo0EEVJRSwS68mWZ Playlists: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2cWEYCeauBC2YQ2gPCclqS?si=6GRxM-HvRxq_zm5BMQ0-rw Apple: https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/1982-vs-1992/pl.u-DdANGd5Il5eXZJ?ls Amazon: https://music.amazon.com/user-playlists/58f46ae3852544f99f39ddc924b55b95sune?marketplaceId=ATVPDKIKX0DER&musicTerritory=US&ref=dm_sh_ftRbegaLyvBef0UBYyxDv3g57 Contact Us: Website: https://totally80s90srecall.podbean.com/ Email: 80s90srecall@gmail.com LinkTree:https://linktr.ee/80s90srecall

Earlier this fall, there were no rap songs in the Billboard Top 40 for the first time since 1990. Is this just a blip in commercial popularity, or is it a sign that hip hop is losing its grip on mainstream America?
On this episode of “Fearless,” Jason Whitlock discusses how Tucker Carlson's interview with Nick Fuentes has sparked a cultural shift, with the Heritage Foundation releasing a video standing up for Carlson. Guests Shemeka Michelle, Wilfred Reilly, and Chad Jackson join the show to talk about how black influence is waning in American culture and why, for the first time in 35 years, no rap music made the Billboard Top 40 list. Shemeka Michelle, Virgil Walker, and Anthony Walker discuss with Whitlock why men have grown frustrated with women and why the Wall Street Journal was inaccurate in labeling Allie Beth Stuckey the “heir apparent” to Charlie Kirk. Coach JB then joins the show to analyze the online firestorm he started by criticizing Mina Kimes. Whitlock polishes off the show with his Fearless Five football picks of the week.
