We'll use these sessions to hone our use of terms as tools to reveal truth, neutralize Racists/White people. #ANTIBLACKNESS In the midst of alleged "thanksgiving" cheer, The C.O.W.S. will recognize the passing of Jamil Abdullah al-Amin and Viola Ford Fletcher. Mr. al-Amin, formerly known as H. Rap Brown, was 82-years-old and a vocal spokesperson against and Victim of the System of White Supremacy during the so-called Civil Rights Movement. Mr. al-Amin is often depicted wearing sunglasses and a leather jacket while announcing that "Violence is as American as cherry (pumpkin) pie." Fletcher was 111-years-old and is credited with being the last living survivor of the 1921 Tulsa Oklahoma Terrorist attack. Also, professional golfer and (professional) Racist Suspect "Fuzzy" Zoeller reportedly died this week at the age of 74. Many reports of his death mention that Zoeller was "haunted" and "tarnished" by his Racist Joke directed at a very young (21!!) Tiger Woods. The then-45-year-old Indiana golfer begrudgingly celebrated Woods' 1997 triumph at the Master's Tournament but cautioned the "little boy" not to serve fried chicken and collard greens at the Masters Champions Dinner

Eisenhower adalah Komandan tertinggi pasukan sekutu amfibi terbesar yang dipersiapkan untuk membebaskan benua Eropa dari cengkeraman Nazi pada Juni 1944. Ia dapat memimpin pasukan yang sangat besar itu karena kemampuannya bekerja sama dengan berbagai macam orang. Pada waktu kecil, Eisenhower tidak dapat bergaul karib dengan orang lain. Ia sering berkelahi di sekolah dan pemarah. Syukurlah ia mempunyai seorang ibu yang penuh kasih dan mengajarkan kepadanya firman Allah, Suatu kali, ketika sedang membalut tangan Eisenhower setelah kemarahannya yang meledak-ledak, si ibu mengutip Amsal 16:32, "Orang yang sabar melebihi seorang pahlawan, orang yang menguasai dirinya, melebihi orang yang merebut kota." Bertahun-tahun kemudian ia menulis, "Aku selalu mengingat kembali percakapan itu sebagai salah satu peristiwa paling berharga di dalam hidupku." Tidak diragukan lagi, dengan belajar mengendalikan kemarahannya, Eisenhower dapat bekerjasama secara efektif dengan orang lain. Setiap kita pernah dicobai hingga kemarahan kita mudah tersulut. (Yohanes 13:15)Renungan: Mother Teresa pernah menulis: "Tebarkan kasih ke manapun anda pergi. Mulailah dari dalam rumah anda sendiri. Berikan kasih anda kepada anak-anak anda, kepada istri atau suami anda, kepada tetangga anda. Jangan pernah membiarkan seseorang yang datang kepada anda pergi begitu saja tanpa ia merasa lebih baik dan lebih bahagia. Jadilah ekspresi hidup dari kebaikan-kebaikan Tuhan. Kebaikan hati di wajahmu, kebaikan hati dalam senyumanmu, kebaikan hati dengan salam hangatmu!" Apakah hari ini kita mampu memberikan senyuman yang terindah untuk anak, orang tua, pasangan teman dan orang-orang yang kita jumpai hari ini. Mampukah kita melakukannya terhadap orang yang sudah mengecewakan hati kita? Sadarkah kita bahwa begitu banyak kita mengecewakan hati Tuhan? Tetapi walau Tuhan sering kita kecewakan, Ia tetap memberikan berkat-Nya yang selalu baru kepada kita. Lakukanlah hal yang sama juga terhadap orang yang pernah mengecewakan kita. Senyuman dan sapaan kita akan membuka rahmat Allah masuk dalam hati mereka, sehingga hati mereka menjadi gelisah dan ingin berdamai dengan kita. Hari ini seseorang merindukan senyuman kita. Berikan senyuman yang paling indah untuknya. Tuhan Yesus memberkati.Doa:Tuhan Yesus, mampukan aku untuk tetap tersenyum sekalipun hatiku sakit karena perkataan dan perbuatan orang-orang yang ada di sekitarku. (Yesaya 55:8)Renungan: Di suatu desa kecil hiduplah seorang pembuat mainan kayu untuk anak-anak bernama Ebun. Ia mempunyai seorang anak perempuan dan ia membuatkannya sebuah boneka kayu yang sangat indah. Pada suatu hari bonekanya patah, ia menangis dan berlari kepada ayahnya dan menceritakan tentang nasib bonekanya. Sang ayah kemudian meminta boneka itu untuk diperbaikinya. Si gadis kecil berkata, "Tidak ayah, kau tidak mengerti. Aku ingin tangan yang satu lagi dipotong kemudian dipelitur, setelah itu dilem atau dipaku untuk menyambungnya kembali." Sang ayah berusaha menjelaskan pada anak gadisnya agar ia meninggalkan saja bonekanya untuk diperbaiki, karena sang ayah tahu apa yang harus dilakukannya. Tetapi sang anak tidak sabar dan berkata pada ayahnya, "Ayah, kau tidak mengerjakan sesuai dengan cara yang aku inginkan, kau terlalu lambat." Sehabis berkata demikian, si gadis kecil mengambil bonekanya dan meninggalkan ayahnya di bengkel kerja. Seperti juga gadis kecil tersebut, kebanyakan dari kita juga membawa segala persoalan kita pada Tuhan dan kita mencoba mengatur Tuhan untuk menyelesaikannya sesuai dengan keinginan kita. Hal ini pada akhirnya hanya menimbulkan kekecewaan di hati kita. Sering kita tidak menyadari bahwa Tuhan lebih tahu apa yang harus Dia buat. Tetapi jikalau kamu tidak mengampuni orang, Bapamu juga tidak akan mengampuni kesalahanmu." (Matius 6:14-15)Renungan: Setiap orang bisa saja berbuat salah. Tetapi tindakan yang kita ambil dalam kemarahan akan menghantui kita selamanya. Biasakanlah untuk tetap tenang dalam menghadapai satu permasalahan, karena dengan ketenangan Tuhan akan beracara dalam proses penyelesaian masalah tersebut. Kita masih akan tetap membutuhkan orang-orang yang pernah mengecewakan kita dalam perjalanan hidup kita. Pengampunan lebih mulia daripada balas dendam. Dendam dan kekecewaan hanya akan membuat kita menderita seumur hidup dan terlebih lagi kita akan kehilangan damai sejahtera dari Tuhan dalam hati kita. Yesus sendiri sudah memberi contoh bagaimana sikap untuk mengampuni, "Ya Bapa, ampunilah mereka sebab mereka tidak tahu apa yang telah mereka perbuat." Kita semua adalah orang berdosa, dosa dan kesalahan kita tidak lebih besar daripada orang-orang yang pernah berbuat salah kepada kita. Tetapi Tuhan tidak pernah memandang kesalahan kita. Dengan pengorbanan-Nya di kayu salib dosa kita sudah dihapuskan. Kalau Yesus yang adalah Allah saja mau merendahkan diri dengan mengampuni kesalahan kita, mengapa kita manusia yang hanya seperti sebutir debu di hadapan Tuhan justru meninggikan diri dengan tidak mau mengampuni? Lalu siapakah yang menjadi Allahnya? Banyak orang yang begitu kagum dengan ajaran Yesus yang penuh cinta kasih dan pengampuan, tetapi justru para pengikutnya seringkali menjadi batu sandungan bagi orang lain dengan tidak mau untuk mengampuni. Sehingga melalui sikap-sikap kita tersebut nama Yesus dicela oleh orang lain. Marilah kita merendahkan diri untuk mulai belajar mengampuni. Mungkin orang-orang tersebut adalah anak, orang tua, pasangan hidup, kekasih, teman, sahabat, guru atau orang-orang di sekitar kita. Tuhan sedang menunggu tindakan kita untuk mengampuni mereka. Saat kita bisa mengampuni dengan tulus orang yang telah menyakiti kita, maka kita adalah seorang pemenang di dalam Tuhan. Tuhan Yesus memberkati.Doa:Tuhan Yesus, aku bersyukur karena Engkau sudah mau mati untuk menebus dosaku. Kini aku diperhadapkan pada orang-orang di sekitarku yang telah menyakiti hatiku. More than 7 million children across the United States depend on special education services, which school districts now refer to as exceptional children’s services. But recent cuts to the Department of Education are taking more resources away from the historically underfunded programs under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). To discuss their growing concerns and the potential impact the situation could have on students, we hear from Anita Hagins Jones, the resident of the Georgia PTA, Lola Green, the president of the Georgia Special Education PTSA, Theneshia Dixon, the legislative chair for the Special Education PTSA, and Cobb County School Board Member Leroy "Tre" Hutchins, who is also a special education specialist. Plus, the Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network (GAIN) is a local nonprofit that provides free immigration legal services and other wraparound support to immigrant survivors of crime and persecution. Back in October, the organization’s executive director, Alpa Amin, said the Department of Justice denied funding to GAIN’s Legal Assistance for Victims (LAV) Program.
