After navigating the complexities of the 60s, he pursued psychology before returning to academia for a degree in biochemistry and then medical school. Dr. Young emphasizes the vital role of hope in medicine, highlighting its power to positively impact patients' healing journeys. Through his story, listeners are reminded of the enduring presence of hope in healthcare.
After years of marriage with the father of her son, it became apparent to Krys that something was terribly off. She began to lose herself and became a shell of who she once was. Everything she had went to taking care of her son and her husband. Although I wish the story of a loving commitment continued to strengthen, Kry soon found that her husband felt disconnected and had engaged in multiple affairs. The devastation and repeated forgiveness of his unfaithfulness pushed her into filing for divorce and finally ending the marriage. She packed up her son and headed for a better life. Life with her son was a fresh start, and she once again found self-care and who she was in Christ. Things were going well, but over time she began to feel weak and fatigued and had terrible back and flank pain. She went to see a doctor, and they thought it was kidney failure after a complete workup. However, her symptoms only worsened after treatment and in her heart, she knew there was more to her deteriorating health. She pushed for extensive testing and each doctor felt that it was all in her head. After fighting continuously with different physicians of the cause of her diminishing health and painful symptoms, Krys advocated enough, and a doctor finally took her seriously and found she had Stage 4 Metastatic breast cancer that spread from her breast to her hips, spine, and ribs. In those moments, all she could hear over the doctor was God saying, “I have the stage now!” Since finding the cancer, Krys has put on her armor and, instead of giving up, has completely been renewed by her faith. She fights daily with her symptoms and the battle within her body, armed with faith and the power of the Holy Spirit. She is not defined by cancer; she is a daughter of the Most High and knows Jesus is her cure. Krys Grant Ray is a testament to the power of faith and devotion to Christ over any diagnosis. Krys has created two ministries during this time. Healing for Hope and Grace for Generations. Not only that, but she has become a Christian Transformational Life Coach. www.KrysGrantRay.com “Grace for Generations” Hawaii Retreat is a weeklong, all-inclusive adventure on the Big Island of Hawaii. In 2022, the leading cause of death for teens and young adults is suicide. Le Bonheur Children's Hospital has treated patients as young as 5 years old for self-injury, suicidal thoughts, and suicide attempt. Those who attempt or die by suicide do so because they cannot imagine a better day. For more than 71 years, the journey to a healthier childhood has led thousands of children and their families to Le Bonheur. That's why Le Bonheur was one of only 16 hospitals in the country selected to develop a pediatric-specific approach to the youth mental health crisis, through a grant made possible by Children's Hospital Association, Cardinal Health, and Zero Suicide. Le Bonheur's program is called Hope Journey. Senior Director of Emergency Services Barbie Stewart is here to talk about childhood suicide and how we can help in the fight to keep children safe.
