Luke 9:37–43Jesus Heals a Boy with an Unclean Spirit[37] On the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great crowd met him. [38] And behold, a man from the crowd cried out, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child. [39] And behold, a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out. It convulses him so that he foams at the mouth, and shatters him, and will hardly leave him. [40] And I begged your disciples to cast it out, but they could not.” [41] Jesus answered, “O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.” [42] While he was coming, the demon threw him to the ground and convulsed him. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father. [43] And all were astonished at the majesty of God.
Thursday of the Third Week of LentLuke 11:14-23Others, to test him, asked him for a sign from heaven. But he knew their thoughts and said to them,"Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid wasteand house will fall against house."
Luke 11:14–28Jesus and Beelzebul[14] Now he was casting out a demon that was mute. When the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke, and the people marveled. [15] But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons,” [16] while others, to test him, kept seeking from him a sign from heaven. [17] But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and a divided household falls. [18] And if Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul. [19] And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. [20] But if it is by the finger of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. [21] When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are safe; [22] but when one stronger than he attacks him and overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted and divides his spoil. [23] Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.Return of an Unclean Spirit[24] “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and finding none it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.' [25] And when it comes, it finds the house swept and put in order. [26] Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there. And the last state of that person is worse than the first.”True Blessedness[27] As he said these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts at which you nursed!” [28] But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” (ESV)

For your convenience and as an outreach of our ministry, this video is shared from our Sunday Worship Service. This week we begin the season of Lent by reading about the Temptation of Christ from Luke 4:1-13 and hearing from Psalm 91:1-2, 9-16 describe nearness to God as shelter. [Leader:] The God of our ancestors heard our cries; [Deut. 26:7, 8]and saw our oppression when we were slaves in Egypt. [Ps. 91:1, 9, 15–16][ALL:] God brought us out with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with signs and wonders God brought usthrough the wilderness.[Leader:] The Lord, our shelter, our refuge, our dwelling place, says,[ALL:] “When my people call to me, I will answer them;I will be with them in trouble;I will show them my salvation.”www.JesusLoves757.com/sunday
Fr. Aaron Stettler - 1st Sunday of Lent - Luke 4:1-13
On this first Sunday of Lent, we enter the wilderness with Jesus in Luke 4:1-13. Fresh from His baptism and filled with the Holy Spirit, He is led into a place of isolation, testing, and soul-searching. What does this passage reveal about our own wilderness experiences—our struggles with power, recognition, and distraction? How do we resist the temptations that pull us away from the way of Jesus? In a world marked by division, exhaustion, and digital overwhelm, Lent invites us to pause, reflect, and realign our hearts with God's grace. Through prayer, fasting, and contemplation, we step into the wilderness—not to earn God's love, but to deepen our awareness of it. Join us as we journey together in this season of renewal.

Man Shall Not Live by Bread Alone | First Sunday in Lent | Luke 4:1-13 | March 9, 2025Join us for this powerful Lenten sermon as we explore Luke 4:1-13, where Jesus is tempted in the wilderness but stands firm on the Word of God. As we begin this First Sunday in Lent, we reflect on Christ's victory over Satan's temptations and how His obedience fulfills what Israel failed to do.In this message, we uncover the three temptations of Jesus: the temptation of the flesh (turning stones into bread), the temptation of power (worshiping Satan for the kingdoms of the world), and the temptation of testing God (throwing Himself from the temple). Each of these trials mirrors the spiritual battles we face today. But our victory is found in Christ, who overcame the devil for us.How can we resist temptation, trust in God's Word, and rely on Christ in our daily struggles? Watch this sermon to be strengthened in faith and encouraged to cling to the true Bread of Life, Jesus Christ.

Welcome to the second Sunday in the season of Lent at the 8th Street Church. This week, as we continue our sermon series on the seven last words of Jesus, Pastor Chris preaches out of Luke 23:32-33, 39-43, as we listen to what the two crooks on the left and right of Jesus have to say, and what Jesus says in response. Rev. Seth Cain — Fifth Sunday of Lent — Luke 20.9-19
27 March 2022 - Fourth Sunday in Lent - Luke 15 includes what's often called “The parable of the prodigal son” as well as two other “lost and found” parables, but all three stories are, in fact, a single parable. Rev. Neville Jones takes a detailed look at the chapter and shows how Jesus has carefully constructed a story that is full of surprises for his hearers as well as being very revealing about two groups of people in the crowd – the tax collectors and sinners on one hand and the scribes and Pharisees on the other. Rev. Seth Cain — Fourth Sunday of Lent — Luke 15.11-32
4th Sunday of Lent Luke 15: 1-3, 11-32 Psalm 34 Guest- Jenna It's the parable of the Prodigal! In this reading, more than any other reading, I need to emphasize the importance of putting yourself into the reading and becoming one of the characters. To allow you to deepen your experience, stop and describe what you are feeling, hearing, seeing, smelling, touching. Then let the Holy Spirit unfold the reading in your mind and pay careful attention to what the Lord shows you in this time.
Guest- KT 3rd Sunday of Lent Luke 13:1-9 Fig trees, Shakespeare, and neices! OH MY! This was such an odd Lectio. We didn't start out by inviting the Holy Spirit in and boy, did I feel it! Don't worry, we figured it out about halfway through and the Blessed HS fixed the problem for us!
Rev. Seth Cain — First Sunday of Lent — Luke 4.1-13
First Sunday of Lent Luke 4:1-13 Psalm 91 This episode is short, sweet, and solo. I don't have a guest for this one. I'm not even in the studio for this one. I'm in a van, down-by-the-river, doing Lectio. When I say down-by-the-river, I mean, in the parking lot of my son's ninja warrior class. And I recorded the episode here to show you that Lectio travels well. Not only is Lectio for Everyone (my new shortened mission statement) it can be done anywhere! So I am in my van. But am I not also in the desert with Jesus, witnessing the many tests of His temptation? Video Divina for the little kids- Jesus' temptation in the desert
