Quarrelling Among The Christians Reader: Jon Watson Date: 3rd September 2020 Time: ------------------- Just imagine a football match where all of a sudden one of the teams started arguing and fighting among themselves. The other team would be looking on wondering what on earth was going on. If the fighting continued the game would have to be abandoned and the points would go to the other team. So because of their arguing that team would be defeated. The apostle Paul heard there was quarrelling among the church members in Corinth. There were serious divisions and Paul was so disappointed: "I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united..." (Verse 10) Church congregations can easily be destroyed when the people in them start arguing and fighting over things that should never be allowed to cause divisions. Our Lord Jesus wants us to be people of peace and of love. Just imagine how non-Christian people must think when Christians are busy fighting with each other. What should you do if conflict arises in your church? Let Paul give us the answer: "Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love" (1 Corinthians 16:13 - 14). Bitter quarrelling and division has no rightful place among Christian people. ## Prayer Dear Lord Jesus, help me to be a person of peace and a peace-maker in your name. Amen.

Today on the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete talks to Paul Maskill, a well-known small business coach and advocate. During these difficult times, it’s very normal to worry about our future. Let Paul and Mighty Pete eradicate that concern away. Prepare and strategise; you’ll find that money-making business idea soon! KEY TAKEAWAYS Paul can’t count how many times did he feel that he was boxed to do only limited things as he progressed in life. There are things that only the society deems proper to do—from your school days to your career journey to even retiring. But remember that you have the power to modify and make it work for you. Being adventurous and eager is hard if you always get influenced by societal norms. Paul was glad that he followed where his heart is leading him to. He’s confident that he’s already prepared for life and has been very impactful to other people. Experience is really your best teacher. Paul was happy growing his first business with his team, but he noticed that it wasn’t working anymore. He was a business owner clocking in 80 hours in just one week. Clearly, there was something wrong there. So, he found ways on how to automate and systematise his operations. He learned from people who knows more than he does. He consumed every business book and every business podcast he can find. This also catapulted his interest in learning about personal development too. He found out that the reason why he’s had a difficult time scaling up his business is he wasn’t delegating tasks effectively. While entrepreneurs are knowledgeable and are capable to do every operational task, they must learn to decipher what are of great importance. Right now, Paul helps his clients build a great business so they can leverage it and lead their dream lifestyle in the future. He adds that being ready psychologically and most importantly financially. We've got all the football news and info you need in this episode. Max and Vince welcomed the The Athletic's national soccer reporter Paul Tenorio to the podcast. Paul has been covering MLS for years and now he's the go to source at The Athletic. He was kind enough to spend half an hour with us and in that time we covered everything from how MLS might restart its season (if there's a season at all) to what now for MLS academies to what to expect from the summer transfer window. Is MLS really in a stronger position than most clubs around the world? Let Paul tell you what he's found out from the people he's talking to. Max and Vince also share their favorite memories from the two-year anniversary of Banc of California Stadium and LAFC's first home match and we've got an update on the Black & Gold's efforts to help those affected by COVID-19.
“Paul; Stop telling me life’s a simple game” In this episode, Paul challenges people who assert that life isn’t simple. He says, quite simply, that it really is. He calls back to his years of experience and learning and uses this to bolster his argument. “Just imagine you keep looking in life’s rear view mirror. What would happen? Your vehicle would crash” Shoulda, coulda, woulda? Paul wants you to look forward and maybe glance back, but not to focus where you’re not going. Do you agree? Maybe you disagree? Romans 15v14-33 It’s easy to slow down, become content, and miss opportunities God is calling us to step into. Let Paul’s life and example remind us that it’s time to take new ground together. Taught By Jose Zayas
Hello, My Name Is Paul Greetings from Paul! He's an apostle sent by God, and he's totally ready to rock this whole disciple of Christ thing. This time he's writing to the churches in Galatia, but he's not too thrilled with what's been going on there. Oh, do tell, Paul. Well, it seems some of the Galatians have been turning their backs on God and putting their faith in a twisted version of the gospel. Say it ain't so, Galatians! Let Paul be clear: there's only one gospel. It's the one Paul told them about. Just because someone comes along and starts spouting off all kinds of random ideas about Jesus, that doesn't make them true. Even an angel from Heaven who teaches them the wrong things about Jesus is gonna get a smackdown from God. This goes double for any humans trying to pervert God's message about Jesus. Seriously, naysayers, God is not amused. Look guys, Paul's not trying to win any popularity contests here. He's just doing what the Big Guy told him. After all, Paul didn't get his info from just anywhere—he got it from Jesus Christ himself. Paul is pretty sure the Galatians know about his past. But he's gonna tell them again anyhow. Just once more for good measure. Back in the day, Paul was a super devout Jew who persecuted Christians on the side. Uh-huh. He's was über pious and totally loved Jewish law—even more than most other Jews—but when God sent him a vision of Jesus, everything changed. He started preaching the good news about Jesus right away. He didn't high tail it to Jerusalem to meet with Jesus's disciples there. He went out on his own and spread the good word. Paul's a rebel like that. Three years after his conversion, he did take a quick trip to Jerusalem, but he only met with Cephas (a.k.a. Simon Peter, Jesus's right-hand man from all the gospels) and James (Jesus's brother).
Tonight Paul and Dave go deep into what makes them tick as musicians... and into what ticks them off! Following a great article that Paul found, he and Dave talk through the 7 Things Musicians Need To Do Besides Playing Music, and it brings your two favorite Weekend Warriors down a very revealing path. What's important to you as a musician or a music fan? Let Paul and Dave know right here!
See the blog at www.airspeedonline.blogspot.com. Today we're going to revisit one of the most important aspects of flying - And that's the music you listen to while you do it!Sure, there are more important things - like safety - but the fact remains that putting together the right soundtrack can make your flying even more inspiring. If you have an audio input to the intercom in the aircraft you fly or otherwise have a means of listening to music while you fly here's some music that you should consider adding to your playlist.Bear in mind that safety comes first. If the music results in any chance of discraction or a miscommunication or failure to give or receive a communication necessary for the safety of the flight, leave your music player at home. But if you can manage the volume of the player, not have to fumble with it when your should be doing other things (playlists are helpful here), and satisfy yourself as pilot in command that you can hear and be heard in the cockpit and at the controller's workstation (such as by using a squelch or cutout feature like I use), by all means add a soundtrack to your flight. Here's what has been in my iPod while I fly.Eric Johnson has a way with the Fender Statocaster that is unlike that of any other player. He's melodic and heavily jazz-influenced. Music from his Ah Via Musicom and Venus Isle albums got lots of airplay in the 1990s and he has toured with the likes of Steve Vai and Joe Satriani and recently hit the road with Sammy Hagar. This is All About You from Venus Isle. Note the arpeggios and underlying drive. Really good for high airwork.[Audio](Buy Eric Johnson albums, DVDs, and other stuff at http://theconnextion.com/ericjohnson_index.cfm?ArtistID=175.)I'd be really surprised if composer and conductor John Williams isn't a pilot. I promised myself that I would use the word "evocative" only once in this episode, and this is it. I put this on one of the first flight mixes I ever made and it was one of the first tunes that jumped off the CD player and became a soundtrack for what I was doing at the time. It was on short final at Lapeer in southeast Michigan. Nothing quite like Williams to swell up when you're locked in to approach and have your attitude and airspeed nailed. This is, of course, Flying from E.T., The Extraterrestrial. Those who fly aircraft with yokes instead of sticks will have an easier time imagining that they're holding on to bicycle handlebars, but both should avoid the temptation to strap a milk craft to the cowling for your little buddy to ride in.This version comes from John Williams and the Boston Pops Orchestra's album, The Classis Spielberg Scores.[Audio](Buy the album at http://www.amazon.com/Williams-Classic-Spielberg-Scores/dp/B000002C0F/sr=8-1/qid=1165705583/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-4775352-7547032?ie=UTF8&s=music).No playlist is complete without some heavy metal. And there's none heavier than Iron Maiden. This is Aces High from 1984's Powerslave. Great driving metal groove and lyrics that tell a story of aerial combat in World War II.[Audio](Buy the album at http://www.amazon.com/Powerslave-Iron-Maiden/dp/B000063DFN/sr=1-5/qid=1165706163/ref=sr_1_5/103-4775352-7547032?ie=UTF8&s=music).Unless you count the diggery-doo, the English accordion, or the great highland bagpipes, there is probably no more technically ungainly instrument than the bassoon. It's four or five feet tall and has a double-reed that begs to sqwawk and evade the player's efforts to control it. There's an old joke that the definition of an optimist is a bassoon player with a pager.Well, if there's one guy who can carry both a bassoon and a pager with confidence. He's Paul Hanson. Paul has taken the bassoon into jazz and other circles with amazing aplomb. He can out-sasxophone a saxophone and it all sounds completely organic. Ever run into one of those phases in your training when the controls seem to defy you, nothing goes the way it's supposed to, and you're constantly behind the aircraft? Usually right before you solo or right before get the hang of the landing flare or just before you start to nail your instrument approaches? This one is for you, my brothers and sisters.Let Paul remind you of what can happen with even the most ungainly of hardware if you train hard and believe that the music will come. This is The Gold Coast from Voodoo Suite. It's in 7/4 and he's playing a bassoon and yet it sounds great. Yeah, your first full-procedure VOR approach is going to be ugly, but that's okay. Listen to how you'll feel on your 50th . . .[Audio](Buy the album at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/hansonp.)We started with one guitar god and we're going to end with another. When Sony went looking for a great song to use in its ads celebrading the 20th anniversary of the compact disc, it looked no further than Joe Satriani's Summer Song from his album, The Extremist. This is great music for whatever you want to do while listening to it. It has energized me in the wee hours studying for exams and it has caused more than a few oscillations over the speed limit out on the highway. Now I'm no A&P and this is largely unscientific, but I'll bet that, if you plug Summer Song into the intercom of your aircraft, you'll get two or three additional knots of airspeed. Airplanes love Joe Satriani! Sound crazy? Well, it's a lot cheaper than wheel fairings!(Buy the album at http://www.amazon.com/Extremist-Joe-Satriani/dp/B000002BWH/sr=1-1/qid=1165711434/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-4775352-7547032?ie=UTF8&s=music.)That's it for this installment of what should be cranking while you're turning and banking.Got your own suggestions?
