Brandon Butler flies solo in Wisconsin at Doug Duren's legendary farm for a deep dive into fall in the Driftless. From glowing autumn hillsides to cold spring creeks full of browns and rainbows, this multi-part conversation explores why the Driftless is one of the Midwest's most unique outdoor destinations. In Part One, Brandon sits down with Eric Johnson, Community Marketing Manager for Trout Routes, to talk about mapping tools, OnX Hunt and OnX Fish, and how technology is helping anglers find public water. They're joined by conservationist Doug Duren of Share the Land and Kyle Zempel of Black Earth Angling Co. to cover everything from smallmouth fishing to the top five flies you need in your box, plus the history that shaped this one-of-a-kind landscape.Part Two features Doug again along with Tim and Sarah Landwehr, owners of Tight Lines Fly Fishing Company, as the conversation turns to muskie fishing, smallmouth trips, and the role of guides as not just teachers but counselors, educators, and storytellers. The crew also dives into destination angling—from the Amazon to Bolivia—and why hiring a guide on new water can change everything.Part Three brings in Lyndsey Braun along with Zach Heredia and Lucas to share tales of Alaska adventures, South American fisheries, cooking up great meals after long days on the water, and the shared responsibility of conservation.“It's not ours—it's just our time.” This episode is a celebration of trout fishing, public lands, and the people keeping the Driftless and beyond wild and welcoming for the next generation. For more info:Doug Duren WebsiteTrout RoutesBlack Earth Angling CoTight Lines Fishing CoSharing The LandSpecial thanks to:Living The Dream Outdoor PropertiesSuperior Foam Insulation LLCDoolittle TrailersScenic Rivers TaxidermyConnect with Driftwood Outdoors:FacebookInstagramYouTubeEmail:info@driftwoodoutdoors.com

MRM's Bill McKeever and Eric Johnson spend this week talking about some of the biggest lies given by the LDS Church–hence, the title “LDS Whoppers.” Let's see which deceptions are most bothersome to us.
The guys break down Luke Hughes’ 7x9M deal in New Jersey and how it sets the stage for future contracts like Lane Hutson’s in Montreal. They dive into NHL.com’s Super 16 rankings, with Vegas at #1, Edmonton sitting higher than Ray thinks they should be and Florida’s injury-driven slide. The Panthers lock up Niko Mikkola long-term after he flourished in Florida, while Carter Hart is expected to land in Vegas following his eligibility to sign. An NHL exec hints at possible expansion by 2–3 teams within three years, raising concerns about diluting the talent pool. Plus, the show reflects on the retirements of Eric Johnson, who leaves with a Cup and over 1,000 games, and Max Pacioretty, who finishes with 335 goals before moving into coaching at Michigan.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Get all set for the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time with Eric Johnson.SummaryIn this episode, the hosts discuss the upcoming Sunday Mass readings, focusing on themes of indifference and complacency in faith. They explore how these themes relate to the rich man's neglect of Lazarus in the Gospel and the call to respond to the suffering around us. The conversation also touches on the role of music in worship and concludes with a personal reflection on a wilderness experience in the Boundary Waters.TakeawaysThe importance of being prepared for Sunday Mass.Indifference can lead to complacency in faith.Scripture readings challenge us to reflect on our actions. We must respond to the suffering of those around us.Music in worship should encourage participation.Comfort can lead to a lack of awareness of others' needs.Real-world examples of complacency are all around us.Faith calls us to act with compassion and love. The Boundary Waters experience offers a chance for reflection.Engaging with discomfort can lead to personal growth.Chapters02:06 Scripture Readings and Reflections08:18 Indifference and Complacency in Faith12:10 Real-World Applications of Faith18:01 The Role of Music in Worship30:13 Experiences in the Boundary Waters

Full transcript Watch this interview on YouTube — “Sometimes when you get to a fork in the road and you have to decide, am I going to stay in this job or take this new job? … It can feel like the weight of the world on your shoulders to make that decision,” says Noha Abdalla, CMO of Choice Hotels. “[But] each path is going to lead you somewhere else and you're going to learn something new. And so take the burden off a little bit or the weight of that decision off and pick something and learn from it.” That philosophy has carried Noha from consulting to the American Red Cross, from Animal Planet to Hilton, and now to leading marketing across 22 brands and millions of room nights at Choice. Along the way, she's seen firsthand how marketing builds trust, not just bookings, and how AI is transforming the creative process. Today on Building Better CMOs, Noha talks with MMA Global CEO Greg Stuart about the challenges of hospitality marketing, the decision to bring in Keegan-Michael Key as brand ambassador, and her team's experiments with agentic AI to personalize at scale. They also discuss the role of mentorship, lessons from running a franchise business, and why marketers must champion emotional connection and trust at every step of the customer journey. Today's Talkhouse Podcast features a pair of guys who've been making records for a long time and still manage to keep things not just interesting, but awesome: Mac McCaughan and Eric Johnson. Mac is the co-founder of legendary indie label Merge Records as well as the singer and guitarist for the band Superchunk, which has been making great, great records for about 35 years now, though they did take a bit of a break in the early aughts, which Mac mentions in this chat. Since reigniting around 2010, Superchunk has released five solid records that both reflect their maturity and bring the punk-rock energy. The latest just came out, and it's called Songs in the Key of Yikes. It's their first with new drummer Laura King, and you can catch Superchunk this weekend at Riot Fest in Chicago and then on a West Coast tour that starts October 9 at Pappy & Harriet's in the California desert. Check out “Is It Making You Feel Something” from Songs in the Key of Yikes right here. The other half of today's chat is Eric D. Johnson, who's both one-third of Bonny Light Horseman and the only constant member of Fruit Bats, the name under which he's been recording his smart, often gentle songs since around 2001. The newest Fruit Bats record, Baby Man, just came out on Merge, and it's an absolutely stripped-to-the-bone affair, with Johnson's voice even more front and center than usual. He lays it all out there and it's easy to get sucked in by his words and lovely melodies. He'll be touring all over in October, doing it “an evening with Fruit Bats” style. Check out “Let You People Down,” a song that comes up in this conversation, right here. In this easygoing chat, Eric and Mac talk about their long histories, from Eric's time in the Shins and I, Rowboat to Superchunk's not-that-fun stint opening for Teenage Fanclub. They also use some baseball analogies to talk about sequencing an album, and they commiserate about being dudes with unusually high singing voices. Enjoy. It's scored by Theodore Shapiro, and also features two covers performed by Jay's wife, Susanna Hoffs from The Bangles in the company of Rufus Wainwright & Eric Johnson.
