Financial expert, Rachel Cruze, joins Amy to talk about her new book I'm Glad For What I Have. “It's ok to have nice stuff, just don't let your stuff have you” is something Rachel often says, so it was important for her to write this book to spark meaningful conversations with kids about entitlement and contentment. Amy & Rachel also talk about the top things we get wrong about money, creative side hustles, money ‘trends' that are draining our bank accounts, when to discuss money when dating, and recommendations for listeners (especially women) who need to ask for a raise. ABOUT RACHEL: Rachel is a two-time #1 national bestselling author (Know Yourself Know Your Money and Love Your Life Not Theirs: 7 Money Habits For Loving The Life You Want.) A little money can go a long way to create beautiful memories. While big vacations and expensive purchases can be nice, so can things from the dollar store. When we use a little creativity and give gifts from our hearts, even items that are free can have a big impact. This principle is beautifully displayed in the life of a poor widow who gave all she had in the Gospels of Mark and Luke. While her donation was meager in comparison to those of the other givers that day, Jesus drew the disciples' attention to her offering in particular. I love that Jesus valued her humble gift. From our earthly perspective, we question how in the world her minuscule donation could make any difference, but to Jesus, it made all the difference in the world. Jesus used the little money she had to teach a lesson about the heart of giving and show that any amount spent from the heart can yield an eternal dividend. Rachel Cruze from Ramsey Solutions is on the show today chatting about how a little money can go a long way through her books Know Yourself, Know Your Money: Discover WHY you handle money the way you do, and WHAT to do about it and Love Your Life Not Theirs: 7 Money Habits for Living the Life You Want. I am so honored to have Luke LeFevre join us for episode 86! I first heard Luke on the EntreLeadership Podcast back in 2020, and his work has been so impactful on my life. Luke has led many creative teams over the years and most recently served as the Chief Creative Officer for Ramsey Solutions. But the rewards! Your credit score! How can you manage?! That's a terrible decision!Almost 4 years ago we cut up our credit cards and never looked back. In this episode we talk about why we said goodbye to our reward points, stopped worrying about our credit score, and started using cash. That decision accelerated us in how we were winning with money; ie, getting our of debt, growing our investments, and being able to give more generously. This was a big and tough decision for us. Ashley had used a credit card for 12 years before deciding to cut them up and she LOVED it. She was a huge defender of credit card! We paid off our card every month, never carried any debt, and enjoyed the cash rewards. To us, it seemed like a no-brainer. We were beating the credit card companies at their own game. After almost a full year into starting to enact Dave Ramsey's principles, we finally decided to go all-in and try cash instead of credit cards and it totally changed the way we handle money. We found that we spent less (even though we were being SUPER STRICT!!!), we were able to plan ahead and get our money straight at the beginning of the money rather than cleaning up any messes at the end of the month, and our wealth started growing much faster. We talk about ways we avoided emergencies, like what if your car breaks down and you don't have the money on hand to pay for it. What happens to your credit score? And why we would possibly want to give up those "free rewards."Check out Love Your Life Not Theirs by Rachel Cruze. We'd love to hear if you tried out our date night that we recommend - give your partner $1000 monopoly cash and give them a menu of choices that they can spend their money on. Back massage, $300. Charcuterie board, $200. Watching their favorite movie, $150.It would mean a lot to us if you wrote a review for us and gave us a rating! Rachel Cruze is a number one New York Times bestselling author, and she is also the host of the Rachel Cruze Show, where she helps people learn the proper ways to handle money and stay out of debt. She has authored three best selling books including Love Your Life Not Theirs and Smart Money Smart Kids, which she co-authored with her father Dave Ramsey. Rachel uses the knowledge and experiences she gained from growing up in the Dave Ramsey household to educate others. She is a seasoned communicator and speaker who has addressed hundreds of thousands of students, young adults, and parents over the past several years, teaching them how to get on the right track and avoid big money messes. Rachel also speaks at women’s conferences, churches and companies across the country. In this episode… Many people stress a lot about their personal finances. Business owners are often unaware that the money they allocated for their personal finances and the ones they’ve allocated for their business overlap, and this is where financial problems usually occur. In addition, business owners often put on appearances which do not reflect their real financial status which shouldn’t be the case because every business weathers different seasons differently. Having an understanding of how money moves and how it bleeds into one aspect of your life into another is important for entrepreneurs and their success. In this episode of Powerplayers in Business and Life, Adrienne Richardson is joined by Rachel Cruze where they talk about how to get smart with money and how to make smarter business decisions. They discuss the importance of focusing on and embracing the season that your business is in the value of having an emergency fund, and the difference between money management and personal finance. Stay tuned.

Happy Financial Planning Month! What better way to start your financial planning season off than with our FinCon 2018, where money and media meet, interview with Rachel Cruze on her own personal finance philosophies? After all, Rachel is an accomplished published author -- her most recent book is Love Your Life Not Theirs: 7 Money Habits For Living The Life You Want, a speaker, business owner, and the daughter of the personal finance God Father, Dave Ramsey. She’s a self-proclaimed “spender” who teaches us that a budget doesn't limit your freedom, it GIVEs you freedom. Rachel also believes giving is one of the most important things you can do in life. In this episode, you’ll learn money saving tips, how to be strategic when paying off debt and how to get on the same page with your spouse when it comes to winning with money. Show Highlights: The budget is king; it will give you the framework to operate your life. You have to define the things that are valuable to you that you can put in your budget. Therefore, what makes up a "budget" is going to be different for everybody. If you’re in the process of paying off debt your budget is going to reflect that and all resources should be going towards becoming debt free. If you’re debt free, look at things you’re passionate about, save up for electronics, vacations, clothes, restaurants, etc. For couples coming from completely different financial backgrounds, it’s important to sit down and listen to each other's financial backgrounds. It might be uncomfortable at first, but in order to win with money, you have to be on the same page as a couple. Giving is a principle that everyone needs to incorporate into their life. When you live your life with an open hand you’re operating on the spectrum of selflessness instead of selfishness. The universe gives you back the energy that you put out. List out your debts from smallest to largest regardless of interest rate. Pay off your smallest debt first. Once the smallest debt is paid off, take the money you were using for that payment and begin adding it to the next smallest debt. Keep repeating until you’re debt free. Stop the comparison game. You have to live your life based on your current financial situation. Envy and jealousy may cause you to spend money on things you can’t afford just because you were trying to fit in. Most things you see on social media aren’t real. The Takeaway: Take control of your money and create a life you love! You guys, I can't believe this is the 100th episode! With that, I thought it would be great to have Rachel Cruz on the show to talk about her book Loving Your Life, Not Theirs! Rachel and I discuss everything from how comparison is killing us, and that social media makes it super easy to to feel like we don't have enough! Do you ever find yourself scrolling through social media wishing you had a different house, maybe you feel like you are the only one that doesn't go on vacations as much as you like or have fabulous friends? Rachel shares with us that she too can fall into this trap. She shares a story about coming home from a vacation and then getting on social media to find someone that she follows on Instagram on vacation and feeling like she is missing out, yet she just got home from a vacation! We also talk about saving money so that you can have the life that you truly want. One story that stood out to me was when Rachel was talking about saving for college and how expensive it can be to send your kids. She shares with us that college is a blessing not an entitlement and if you are not able to pay for your kids college that doesn't make you a bad parent!
