Every so often, if we're in tune, the flow of life allows for our paths to cross with others who leave us wanting to learn more. I had the privilege of meeting one such person earlier this year during the Creativity Shakeout Tuesday morning group run along the Deschutes river.  Mark Jamnik is a local artist who, like his art, has layers to his life story that have led him to Bend where, among many other things, he's sharing the gift of Subliminal Story Art.  Inspired by his own life experience, Mark creates abstract art inspired by the conscience and unconscious stories underneath layers of acrylic paint on each of his pieces.  Mark allows the emotion, words and themes of each life story to inform each piece he creates. Last year, Mark started offering Paint With The Artist, a community workshop where Mark offers the opportunity for others to create their own self-inspired pieces of abstract art and in so doing experience the beauty of depth that lies deep underneath each of our lives. On episode 33, Mark and I sit down at the Work Collective where Mark shares his passion to make art more approachable, interactive and understandable for those in our community.  Mark shares more of his unique life story that has brought him to where he is  today and the why behind what he does. When you hear the word "sales" or "selling" does your stomach do a bit of a flip? That anxiety is something you need to push past, because if one thing's for sure... Selling is a part of all we do in our lives, especially professionally. Cash Flow Diary podcast guest Mark Jamnik helps to remove the fear from your perception of "sales." In fact, by the end of this episode, you might just embrace sales in a whole new way! Mark makes sales and talking about selling fun. Maybe that's because Mark's a natural salesman. But he had to develop his skills over time. He learned this early on as he sold all sorts of things growing up (and enjoyed it). In high school he started a lawn care business. He earned good money doing it. When he went off to college Mark hired others to mow his clients' lawns and he still earned money. BINGO! A true entrepreneur was born, but Mark still had a lot to learn. After college, he went into a professional sales job, but it was a pretty bumpy road. He left to begin his own business, but fooled himself into thinking it would have nothing to do with sales. He had to go through a process of learning that he had to embrace his sales abilities and that sales were and always would be a part of all he did. He replaced the word "sales" with "serve" and started finding ways of serving people (not selling them something), and success was assured! Now he helps others go through the same process to find their passion and path, just like he did. I lost two large clients due to set backs, but more importantly I lost my purpose. I didn't know why I was doing my job anymore. Just a year after earning my highest commission ever, I was on the verge of losing my job. Sales wasn't a life I was excited about anymore. The job and the stress were making me physically ill. And I kept on thinking “Am I really supposed to be doing this?”  Have you thought the same thing in your life listeners? I know I have. But its what we do when we are at this point that is the key thing to everything. Do we carry on at the crossroads, and keep on the path that we have always been on?
