To our listeners: Joyce Lofstrom recorded this conversation with testicular cancer survivor Andrew Barrow before the month of Movember. Now, with this month of awareness for men's health in full force, know that the advertising and fundraising efforts Andrew describes in the podcast were active before Movember began and continue throughout the month. Andrew Barrow and Joyce Lofstrom open this podcast with a discussion about Andrew's advertising business, Revenue Arc. Keep listening as the story segues to his testicular cancer story. In fact, testicular cancer doesn't run in Andrew Barrow's family. However, cancer, specifically lymphoma and melanoma, took his grandmother's life. As a kid, Andrew watched Tom Green's MTV documentary on testicular cancer, where Tom shared his testicular cancer story. "I was absolutely fascinated by it because I had never heard of testicular cancer. I was probably in middle school at the time, and this blew me away. He had this song that got stuck in my head. The main hook of the song is, 'Check your balls, kids, check them every day.'"And I did. I was scared to death by that moment. I did this routine every day for my entire life, thinking it would never happen to me. And then one day I found a lump." He was treated at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, and did not need follow-up treatment after the orchiectomy. He and his wife had one child, and after the surgery, they became pregnant and welcomed their second child.Andrew shares more about his testicular cancer journey, his business, and his philosophy on life: live in the moment, take care of yourself, and enjoy life to the fullest now. Imani (52) and Michael (65) have been married for 24 years—and they're drowning in nearly $126,000 of consumer debt despite earning over $250,000 a year. Imani, a disciplined attorney who tracks every dollar, feels trapped by Michael's unchecked spending on electronics and his laid-back approach to money. She dreams of travel, freedom, and a life that finally feels generous, while he insists everything's fine as long as the bills get paid. With resentment growing and Imani nearing her breaking point, Ramit challenges them to face the truth: Can they pay off their debt, rebuild trust, and start enjoying life again—or are they too stuck in old patterns to change? A special thanks to Facet for sponsoring this episode. Right now, Facet is waiving their $250 enrollment fee for new annual members. And if you invest and maintain $5,000 within your first 90 days, they'll add $300 to your brokerage account. Head to facet.com/ramit to see which membership—Core, Plus, or Complete—is right for you. (Ramit is not a member of Facet, and he has an incentive to endorse Facet as he has an ongoing fee based contract for cash compensation based on this endorsement. What does a truly successful life look like? This week, we explore Ecclesiastes chapter 9 and how it challenges our cultural definitions of success, inviting us into a radically different way of living. We're confronted with two sobering realities: first, that our lives are not ultimately in our own hands but in God's hands, and second, that death comes for us all regardless of our achievements or status. Rather than leading to despair, these truths become the foundation for profound joy and freedom. The passage reveals that only about 10% of our lives are actually within our control—the rest is determined by genetics and circumstances beyond us. This means we can stop frantically grasping and start gratefully receiving. The teacher's prescription is surprisingly celebratory: eat your bread with enjoyment, drink your wine with a merry heart, wear clean garments, care for your body, and deeply enjoy your relationships. These aren't escapes from reality but acts of worship that acknowledge God's goodness woven into creation itself. When we understand that our lives rest in the hands of a loving God, we're freed from the anxiety of trying to secure our own success. We can be present, savor small moments, and find that true spiritual maturity looks like unhurried joy in the everyday gifts around us—exactly as Jesus modeled in his own remarkably relaxed and interruptible life.
One of the marks of our age is a rejection of authority. This rejection has led to a lack of respect for God and the government he appoints. Obedience to God and government, in that order, leads to great blessing. If we are to respect the authorities God places in our lives, we must start with a healthy respect for God Himself. To fear the Lord does not mean that a Christian lives in constant fear of punishment. Instead, it means to live with reverence, awe and respect for God. This leads to humility, obedience, confidence, trust, and security. Fear God, and you will have nothing else to fear.Unless the governments commands force us to disobey Gods commands, we should obey the government that God has appointed. This respect for government reflects our reverence for God Himself.“Be subject for the Lords sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.” (1 Peter 2:13-17)Take Home Message: Obedience to authority leads to blessing and life.Obey Government (1-9) • God and Government • God Appoints Government Authorities • Don't Stand for an Evil Cause • Obey God Before Government • When should we disobey government? When the governments commands force us to disobey Gods commands.Fear God (10-13) • What fearing God does not mean: To be a Christian that lives in constant fear of punishment. • A biblical definition of the fear of the Lord: A reverence, awe and respect for God that leads to humility, obedience, confidence, trust, and security.Enjoy Life (14-17)

In this powerful exploration of Ecclesiastes 9, we're challenged to confront a profound question: What if embracing our mortality is the key to living a truly meaningful life? The wisdom of Solomon reminds us that death is the great equalizer, coming to both the righteous and the wicked. But rather than letting this reality paralyze us with fear, we're encouraged to use it as motivation to live fully and joyfully in the present. The message emphasizes that God wants us not just to endure life, but to enjoy it. We're urged to savor simple pleasures like meals with loved ones, to celebrate special occasions, and to find fulfillment in our work and relationships. This isn't about reckless hedonism, but about recognizing life as a gift from God and living it to the fullest in His presence. As we reflect on this, we're invited to examine our own lives. Are we truly living, or merely existing? Are we allowing the certainty of death to enhance our appreciation for the life we have now?
Casey Brooks preaches "Trust God, Enjoy Life" from Ecclesiastes 3:9-14, in this Sunday evening gathering of Grace Harbor Church.

“I can't just treat a knee or a shoulder; if I really want to make progress with people and they're not sleeping well or they're not eating well, I'm not getting anywhere with them.” – Megan WellsTrue healing requires a full-body, holistic approach. Especially in this continuing COVID world, many of our clients come to us struggling with conditions like chronic pain, fatigue, dysautonomia, or autoimmune issues, often all at once. Managing that successfully means nervous system regulation, nutrition, sleep, social support, and helping them define what enjoying life really looks like. This shift in perspective has the potential to transform the field for physical therapists and other practitioners who are already spending more time with their patients and clients. By stepping beyond the narrow scope of rehab, we can become cornerstones of our clients' health teams. Using the time we have with them week by week, we can help our clients not only improve their knee pain but also their entire quality of life.Today I'm joined by Dr. Megan Wells to talk about expanding the practice of physical therapy and working with people with complex chronic illness. Megan is the founder of Enjoy Life Physical Therapy and a graduate of the Integrative Women's Health Institute who has expanded her practice in a way that empowers her clients through a root-cause model that considers nervous system regulation at its core.In this episode, Megan and I discuss how physical therapy is evolving to address complex chronic illnesses in women, why we need an integrative, holistic approach, Megan's journey from traditional physical therapy, the importance of patient-centered care, how we can empower clients to make sustainable changes, and more.Enjoy the episode, and let's innovate and integrate together!---Learn more or watch the video version of this conversation at https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/how-integrative-womens-health-education-can-help-your-physical-therapy-patients-enjoy-life-more-with-dr-megan-wells/.Connect with me and access our entire platform at IntegrativeWomensHealthInstitute.com (https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/). Send us a textWhen will you retire? What years of your life should be the ones where you work the longest, hardest hours? On the show today is Derek Coburn, author of Let's Retire Retirement: How to Enjoy Life to the Fullest—Now and Later, a book that very probably will rock your mind because it challenges key beliefs that most of us share about retirement. For instance: at what age will you retire? Probably your answer is 65, that's the number that jumps off most lips. But Coburn says probably you won't and he adds the zinger that other ages may well work much better for you.Like what? How about 75? Or 70?And fact is more Americans are working longer- indeed the fastest growing age cohort in the workplace is Americans aged 75 and older!Surveys also say that approaching 25% of Americans age 65 and higher are now working. And Ciburn believes that number will only increase as many American seniors are today healthier, more active than were Americans of the same age a generation ago.A bonus: retire later in life and you need far less retirement savings. You'll hear actual numbers in the show - and it will blow your mind.As for what years you should work longest and hardest? Coburn argues that it's when your kids are home and for many that means working less in your thirties and forties. Is that catastrophic for your retirement savings? No, because you will be working later in life you need less retirement savings. QED.In the show, mention is made of an app. Death Clock AI. Here's a link to the Washington Post story about it. In the show Coburn mentions CU 2.0 founder/CEO Kirk Drake and Resistance Wine. I've drunk it, it's good.Coburn says he wears an Oura ring. Here's the linkIn the show also there's mention of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, a brilliant psychologist who documented the phenomenon he called flow where work is highly focused and we are happiest.

In this message we learn that true joy is found not in chasing fleeting pleasures, but in living fully under the sun with eterniity in view.
