When stepping into the garden come prepared with an open heart and open mind and an openness to reveal to yourself that you are giving God full access. Our Theme for this year is "New Things," and no matter what it means to each one we hope you are able to take away something of utmost importance. We are on the 17th day of the new month and have already heard news of families losing loved ones. Though sad, the Father knows in there are new things, new preparations, newness of birth and newness in light of what He takes and what He brings. May you be consoled during these times and trust that God knows above all else that our future lies in him. We trust that our Podcast will be a blessing an inspiration to many in 2025 as we break the glass ceiling with God by our side and thank Him for another year. To God be the Glory for "New Things" coming to you this year. Abound in Grace, @Into The Garden

On July 19th 2023 Chip Conrad posted the first in what has become a growing series focused around authentic personal inquiry and universal, shared life experience. The Instagram series has been dubbed Chip and Nips by his followers, and Chip continues to produce transparent monologs asking honest questions focused on subject matter ranging from the personal challenges surrounding mental health, to the dangers of self-comparison, job and salary satisfaction, levels of happiness, previous religious identity and much more. On episode #41 I have the absolute pleasure to sit down with my friend Chip Conrad, as he shares his story of how a kid from Columbus Ohio landed in Bend Oregon and along the way traveled the world performing live improv comedy, owned a surfboard shaping company, opened a comedy club, wrote a book on and taught entrepreneurship, and built and sold a coworking space. Now running Bend Camper Company, Chip and his team are making quite a name for themselves in the space of van builds, conversions, and service. Yo Chip, this was a fun one man. I appreciate the authenticity and vulnerability you live your life with and the space you're creating encouraging transparency as a source of fostering Trust. I'm looking forward to skating the conveyer belt with you man. Thanks for listening to Bend Magazine's The Circling Podcast. Make sure to pick up the latest Sept/Oct issue, it's a good one. Greg Morris highlights 12 individuals in our community exceling in the art of coaching and Lucas Alberg explores the Buisness of running, how race participation is rebounding after Covid and just how much the running culture contributes to the health of our community. Our Theme song was written by Carl Perkins and performed by Erin Cole-Baker and Dr. Erin Zurflu. We love mail, so please send us comments, questions, or art to thecirclingpodcast@gmail.com. On episode 38 of Bend Magazine's the Circling Podcast, we begin a series focusing on individuals in our community who are helping others unlock their potential and maximize their growth. Those who are helping others achieve their goals through instruction, training, guidance, and the sharing of lessons learned through life experience. On this series we will be focusing on those in our community who are Coaches. On our first episode in the series, I have the privilege of sitting down with Ryan Clark, Owner of Clarks University of Martial Arts. Ryan is a 4th degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu who leads a highly qualified team of coaches instructing students of all ages in multiple disciplines including Muay Thai kickboxing, Filipino Martial Arts, Jeet Kune Do and of course, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Join me and Bend Magazine contributing writer Gregg Morris as Ryan shares how the lessons learned through a life committed to the study of martial arts have helped him navigate the challenges of his own life, and how he uses martial arts as a vehicle to aide others in character building and human development. Yo Ryan, It's been said that there are leaders and those who lead. Leaders hold positions of power and authority, those who lead inspire. After spending time in your gym and time with those whose lives your changing, there's no denying that you're an inspiration to many. Thanks for your time my man and keep up the good work. On 2/16/17, Kristen and Ville Jokinen rode their Surly disc trucker touring bikes into the southernmost coastal community of Ushuaia Argentina. Having started this adventure in Prudhoe bay Alaska some twenty months prior, the 18,215 miles that the couple peddled during their journey across two continents combined with the kindness from those they meet along the way is the subject of Kristen's new book titled Joy Ride, A bike odyssey from Alaska to Argentina. On episode 37 of Bend Magazine's The Circling Podcast, Kristen and Ville join me in our new studio to share more of their story. Kristen shares why she wrote Joy Ride, she and Ville share more about their personal lives, they discuss the success of the book, life lessons they've learned during their adventures and just how good and pure humanity can be. Kristen, Ville, Thanks again. Thanks for taking the time out of your busy book tour, and Kristen, thank you for writing this book. It's been said that people don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it. If this is true, get ready to sell a lot of books. Thanks for listening to Bend Magazine's The Circling Podcast. On episode 36 of The Circling Podcast, I have the privilege of sitting down with long time Central Oregonians, Lev and Kirin Stryker, owners and operators of Cog Wild bicycle tours and Shuttles. Lev and Kirin share their story of how they landed in Bend back in the 90's, and the many life steppingstones that have led them to where they are today. Currently operating out of the LOGE, formally the Entrada Lodge, off of Century Drive, Kirin, Lev, and the rest of the Cog Wild team provide daily guided rides, skills instruction, and regular shuttles to the popular trial-heads around Bend and Oakridge, as well as guided multi-day MTB adventures on the backcountry trails throughout Oregon. In addition to professional mountain bike instruction and guiding, Cog Wild provides opportunity to learn about the rich natural and cultural history of Central Oregon while strongly promoting, encouraging, and regularly participating in trail and land stewardship. Kirin, Lev, Thank you for intention that you put into how you run Cog Wild. To borrow an idea from Rick Ruben, Though a business may have a number of goals and motivations, there is only one intention. This is the grand gesture of the brand. After talking with you and so many others, I could make a good argument that your grand gesture is inspired by stewardship. Stewardship for the trails that we use and the land on which they are built. And Stewardship for the community by providing a fun, safe, educational, and inclusive experience for those both new and old to Central Oregon and for those both new and old to the wonderful sport of cycling. Thanks for listening to The Circling Podcast. Our Theme song was written by Carl Perkins and performed by Erin Cole-Baker and Dr. Erin Zurflu. Approximately 15 miles outside of Dayville Oregon, Murderers Creek flows into the South Fork of the John Day River. Approximately 5 miles up Murderers Creek I recorded a podcast with my old friend Jason Darrah. While huddled under the canopy of Jason's custom-built Ford E350 4x4 van as a thunder storm brewed in the distance, Jason shares his story of how, over the past ten years, he has evolved into a content creator who has developed quite the following on his YouTube channel, Primal Outdoors. With nearly a quarter million regular followers, Jason combines his love of videography, photography, van living and overlanding while creating regular content that entertains, educates, and informs, as he continues his nomadic lifestyle. Drifting among the hundreds of thousands of square miles of national forests, wilderness and public lands that are unique to Oregon and the Pacific NW, Jason has become a significant ambassador for the health and stewardship of our public lands. In addition to Primal Outdoors, Jason has created a new platform, van-camping.com, where members can say goodbye to commercial interruptions, access GPS data from Jason's recommended overlanding routes, participate in annual camp outs and have access to Jason through the members only forum. Thanks for the invitation to join you in Eastern Oregon Jason, It's clear to me that you channel is becoming less and less about you and more about the experiences you're having along the way as you encourage others to explore the great outdoors of our great state all while demonstrating and advocating public land stewardship. It was good to see you old friend, I look forward to the next time our paths cross. Thanks for listening to The Circling Podcast. On episode 34 of The Circling Podcast, I have the privilege of sitting down with my friend Kyle Mcleod to talk about, well, a lot. Among his many titles, not excluding husband and dad, Kyle is a product consultant, software engineer, entrepreneur, community organizer and fellow podcast host. In October of 2022, Kyle published the first episode of his podcast, “Small Market Startup.” On his show, Kyle features interviews with experts in their respective fields as he explores what's required to balance the demands of entrepreneurship, product and business development with quality of life, family, and recreation. Moving to Bend in 2017 Kyle has not only fallen in love with Central Oregon, but regularly invests in it, as he organizes and hosts two community groups that meet regularly, focusing on bringing together local software developers and entrepreneurs by creating space where those with similar interests can meet network, and learn. During our conversation, Kyle takes the opportunity to ask me some really thoughtful questions as we hit on subject matter ranging from, just how thankful I am to the sport of snowboarding to the launch of my own startup, Story Booth. Yo Kyle, this was a fun one. Thanks for what you're doing and how you're doing it. I really enjoyed our conversation and I look forward to many more my friend. Every so often, if we're in tune, the flow of life allows for our paths to cross with others who leave us wanting to learn more. I had the privilege of meeting one such person earlier this year during the Creativity Shakeout Tuesday morning group run along the Deschutes river. Mark Jamnik is a local artist who, like his art, has layers to his life story that have led him to Bend where, among many other things, he's sharing the gift of Subliminal Story Art. Inspired by his own life experience, Mark creates abstract art inspired by the conscience and unconscious stories underneath layers of acrylic paint on each of his pieces. Mark allows the emotion, words and themes of each life story to inform each piece he creates. Last year, Mark started offering Paint With The Artist, a community workshop where Mark offers the opportunity for others to create their own self-inspired pieces of abstract art and in so doing experience the beauty of depth that lies deep underneath each of our lives. On episode 33, Mark and I sit down at the Work Collective where Mark shares his passion to make art more approachable, interactive and understandable for those in our community. Mark shares more of his unique life story that has brought him to where he is today and the why behind what he does. Thanks for everything Mark I'm inspired by both Robert Frost and S.E. Hilton when I say, “Stay Gold Mark, Stay Gold.”Thanks for listening to The Circling Podcast. On July 6th 2021 the Creativity Shakeout Run Club held its first organized gathering designed to connect and lift up creatives in Central Oregon. The Creativity Shakeout is a run and walking club designed to inspire creativity through movement and connection with other creative personalities in the community. Founded by local artist and illustrator, Megan Marie Myers, The Shakeout allows creatives of all types and talents a consistent space to meet new friends and collaboration partners, share information, experiences, and resources, and learn about creative hobbies and careers across a variety of industries, all while getting some exercise along the Deschutes River. On episode 32 of The Circling Podcast, Megan and I have a great conversation at Dudley's Bookshop in Downtown Bend. Megan shares her story of her relationship with her own creativity and how the steppingstones of life have led her to Bend where she is growing as an artist and business owner. Megan's popular projects are inspired by the outdoors and the connection we have to our surroundings and to each other. Megan talks about the inspiration behind the Creativity Shakeout and how it was grown from a desire to give back to her creative community, and that, she has. Thanks for the coffee and the conversation Megan. I really enjoyed this one and look forward to Tuesday morning run club and following your growth and success as an artist, illustrator and storyteller. Thanks for listening to The Circling Podcast. On episode 30 of The Circling Podcast, I sit down with Josh Suran, the human on the other side of the trending social medial handle @josh_reports. A Central Oregon native, Josh delivers daily micro doses of amateur weather reporting along with an up to date ski report, usually from the lifts of Mt. Bachelor and always with the highest level of stoke and sometimes a beard braid. Josh Shares his story of growing up in Central Oregon, his love of being outside, the nature of his positive vibes and the life experiences that have led to him developing quite the following on multiple social media platforms. Josh and I recorded this episode in the back of his retired 2009 Ford F-350 Ambulance on the streets of Tumalo Oregon. I apologize for the hum of the ambulance generator charging in the background on occasion, but it adds to the experience. Yo Josh, thank you. Thank you for the fun lines today and the conversation tonight. I'm excited to cheer for your successes as you continue to deliver daily doses of stoke that truly seems to flow from a thankful heart. Nearly ten years later, BOSS has grown to become a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning facility, inspired both by the professional facilities Kevin trained in during his time in the National Football League, and the no gimmicks, no fads and no shortcuts mindset he was exposed to throughout his athletic career. Today, Kevin and his team train athletes of all ages and ability levels, helping them reach their fullest athletic potential by practicing science backed, evidenced based strength and conditioning techniques in a safe, positive and encouraging atmosphere. BOSS Sports Performance continues to grow, likely due to the simplicity of their time-tested core values: Inspiration, Discipline, Community, Integrity and Fun. On episode 29, Kevin takes a moment to sit down and share a bit more of his story. Join me as Kevin and several other members of the Boss Sports Performance family shine a light on just some of the reasons why the parking lot is full at 5:30 am and people are grinding. Thanks for your time Kevin. It seems clear that you're making the transition well from world class athlete to world class boss, no pun intended. On episode 28, I'm joined by longtime central Oregonian Pete Alport. An award-winning photographer, videographer and producer, Pete has called Central Oregon home since moving in 1994 after a traumatizing childhood growing up in Portland Oregon. Pete has, and continues to influence and shape the growth of Central Oregon through the quality and creativity of the content he captures. With subjects ranging from many of the world's best outdoor athletes to some of the most remote landscapes in our backyard, Pete's work resonates strongly with both those who call Central Oregon home and those who appreciate the magic found in nature.
