In the first of an infrequent series, the Midnight Express Podcast delves into other RPGs, movies, and popular media that can inspire your oWoD games, or provide some variety at your table.  In the inaugural episode, the Swedish dark fantasy game 'Symbaroum' comes under the spotlight; BK and Wendell brave the horrors of old Symbar, stride into the darkness of Davokar and unearth the roots of the game.  They explore various aspects of the game from character creation, to game mechanics, and the importance of mood, theme, and story. Join Josh for an interview with Rick Heinz starting off with a leading question of ”What have you done in the Gaming World?”.  Rick explains he is the developer of the game setting 7th Age and has written a book for his setting, you can also get his book on Audible.com.  He also writes the GM tips articles for Geek and Sundry.   They then get into what their favorite games are to run.  Shadowrun was number one on the list due to how easy the setup for players is and how you can run a fun oneshot when needed.  Eclipse Phase is also one of Rick's favorite systems as it has drastically changed his GMing style. Interestingly Rick currently is running a 5th Ed D&D game set in his 7th Age setting, even though, like Josh, he had in the past sworn off the D&D.  Wraith is also talked about and seemed to be a passion for both Josh and Rick.   Rick then turns the tables on Josh and asks him how he has been liking the org LARPs he is attending. Leading them into a conversation about how LARPs can improve their new player experience. The basics being to put a spotlight on your new players, giving them a dedicated ST and make their actions felt.  Rick and Josh both run their own creation that merged Tabletop and LARP. Join Josh and Mike as they take you down memory lane and explore their journey of Midwinter.  They jump right into their experience finding and signing up for Midwinter. They then go over the different events they attended at the convention starting Thrusday and give you a day by day break down.   They start off on Thursday with Midwinter's Gaming Industry and how cool it was to meet people who are working in the Gaming Industry.  They then talk about the Q&A with Onyx Path and how awesome it was to attend a round table with the CEO and some of the developers.   That wrapped up Thursday and on to Friday they talk about their meeting with Rick Heinz and the Panel they attended called Storytellers Guide to Not Sucking. They then made their way to the Exhibition Hall and give a small review on a geme they tested out called CAPERS created by Craig Campbell.  The end of their Friday night was wrapped up with a game of Werewolf: The Apocalypse LARP run by Second Act. Mike and Josh start off their podcast series Crossing Darkeness with Episode 1: The Crossing.  This episode we will go over what Crossing Darkenss is about and talk about our event Madison Under Siege a game of 4 tabletop events all hosted in the same room.  A table for Vampire the Masquerade, Mage the Ascension, Werewolf the Apocalypse, and Hunter the Reckoning. We host these at Conventions like Midwinter, Origins, Gen Con and Game Hole Con.  We will also review a couple playable characters from our event.   The characters Leah Goodwin and Arlen Castor are looked into during this podcast.  Leah Goodwin used to be the Leader of the Mages of Madtown before her hidden secret of being a Nephandi came out.  The players were able to save the character since only a part of her soul had been corrupted.  Now she must deal with the morality of her past actions.  Arlen Castor is the Safety Director for the Hunter school in Madison. He may seem boring at first, but he more than makes up for it with passion.
