"If you breastfeed, the weight will just melt right off." It's one of the most common things moms are told, and one of the most common myths a registered dietitian hears. In this episode, dietitian and lactation counselor Brooke Miller breaks down why breastfeeding alone doesn't guarantee weight loss, what's actually working against moms in those early postpartum months, and what to focus on instead of the scale. If you're breastfeeding, had a baby in the last few years, or somewhere in between and wondering why the baby weight isn't budging, this episode will help you understand what's really going on in your body. Why breastfeeding alone does not automatically create a calorie deficit, even though it burns roughly 500 extra calories a day for exclusively breastfeeding moms Why your body prioritizes healing and milk supply over fat loss in the postpartum period How undereating protein, vitamins, and minerals while breastfeeding can leave you feeling constantly hungry The link between sleep deprivation and hunger hormones, including how poor sleep lowers leptin and raises ghrelin A simple nighttime feeding tip to protect your sleep without screens or extra stimulation Why front-loading protein and fiber earlier in the day reduces cravings and nighttime snacking Easy, zero-prep, high-protein foods to keep on hand for postpartum hunger How skipping meals disrupts blood sugar, increases cortisol, and can backfire on weight loss Why restrictive eating can cause muscle loss, which slows down metabolism How long postpartum nutrient deficiencies can last, and how they affect mood, energy, and postpartum depression risk. Plus, key nutrients to get tested Why letting go of a weight loss timeline is one of the most powerful things you can do for your postpartum journey Loved this episode? Episode Description:Your lab work is not your health. Your biography is. Dr. Lucy McBride is a Harvard-trained internal medicine physician with 25 years of clinical practice and the author of Beyond the Prescription, published with Simon and Schuster in August 2026 with a foreword by Mary Claire Haver. She practices medicine the way almost no one does anymore: by treating the whole person, not the panel. This conversation moves through childhood trauma and metabolic disease, weight loss and GLP-1s, SSRIs and the one thing no pill will ever fix. It is one of the most honest conversations about what health actually is that Heal Thy Self has ever had. Dr. Lucy McBride's health takes: Take 1: "The lab work you get done with your doctor rarely shows the most interesting aspects of your health" Dr. McBride makes the case that biographic data is clinical data. Growing up in poverty, in a chaotic household, with an alcoholic parent — none of that appears on a blood panel, and all of it directly shapes how a patient thinks, eats, drinks, relates, and heals. Take 2: "The body is the scorekeeper" Chronic nervous system dysregulation does not stay in the nervous system. Dr. McBride explains how unprocessed emotional stress shows up as high blood sugar, high blood pressure, and autoimmunity, and why prescribing a pill without asking the deeper question is solving the wrong problem entirely. Take 3: "Sometimes you don't need a GLP-1. Sometimes you just need to eat lunch" One of the most counterintuitive takes of the episode. Dr. McBride explains why chronic low-grade restriction sends the metabolism into survival mode, why stubborn weight that will not move is sometimes the body's response to not being fed enough, and why the first question to ask is about your relationship with food — not your caloric intake. Take 4: "Sometimes you don't need Prozac. You need a divorce" Dr. McBride closes with her most powerful take. SSRIs are not the problem — the system that prescribes them in five-minute appointments is. She makes the case that no amount of pharmacology can resolve the social and emotional toll of living in chronic fear or unhappiness, and that agency is the medicine no pill can replicate. In this episode, you'll discover:  • Why abnormal metabolic markers are often downstream symptoms of chronic nervous system dysregulation, and why understanding a patient's emotional and social context changes the entire treatment picture  • Why the metabolism responds to restriction the same way it responds to famine, what that means for stubborn weight that will not move, and why your relationship with food is sometimes the most complicated relationship you have  • Why SSRIs are overprescribed not because they are bad but because the system does not have time to ask better questions, and what the actual work of mental health requires that no supplement or medication can substitute for Health is not about having all the answers. It is about asking better questions. In this Supplement Ingredient Series episode, Nurse Doza makes the case for the B vitamin nobody talks about: vitamin B6. Everyone knows B12 — the pills, the injections, the whole routine — but B6 is the cofactor your body leans on to build serotonin, dopamine, and GABA, the neurotransmitters behind mood, focus, and steady daytime energy. He covers who tends to run low, why intake alone doesn't guarantee good status, and where an adaptogen-plus-adrenal formula like Zen fits in. FEATURED PARTNER Zen (Stress Relief) by MSW Nutrition is the formula Nurse Doza reaches for when the B6 conversation turns practical. Each capsule delivers 15 mg of vitamin B6 as P5P — the already-active form your enzymes can use directly — alongside 125 mg of bovine adrenal gland (Argentina) and a five-botanical adaptogen blend: rhodiola, Asian ginseng, eleuthero, schisandra, and licorice, plus vitamin C and 150 mg of pantothenic acid. It's built to support the body's adaptogenic response to everyday stressors and support energy production and stamina.

Intermittent fasting is everywhere right now. The promise? Drop body fat fast just by changing when you eat. But most of that advice wasn't designed for a mom's body. In this episode, Brooke, a registered dietitian and lactation counselor, breaks down whether intermittent fasting actually works for women, how it shifts across different life stages, and what she recommends to the busy moms she works with every day. If you've ever wondered whether IF is safe while breastfeeding, whether a 16-hour fast is realistic with kids' schedules, or whether skipping breakfast is actually hurting you, this episode is for you. What You'll Learn Why intermittent fasting is not recommended in the first 6 months postpartum, especially while exclusively breastfeeding How under-eating while breastfeeding can affect milk supply Why a gentle 12-hour fasting window is generally safe for most women, and how it naturally happens already The truth about whether intermittent fasting is required for weight loss (spoiler: it's not) What research from the University of Illinois Chicago found about shortening eating windows in pre- and postmenopausal women Why weight loss really comes down to a calorie deficit, and why "low calorie" doesn't always mean nutrient-dense The difference between a 12-hour fast and a 16-hour fast, and why longer fasts are a bigger ask for busy moms Why skipping breakfast is one of the biggest mistakes moms make, and why a high-protein, high-fiber breakfast matters more How intermittent fasting affects hormones differently in men vs. women, and why so much of the research gap still exists Signs that intermittent fasting may not be right for your body, including restriction mindset, bingeing, and disrupted sleep Why mental load, not metabolism, is often the biggest reason IF doesn't work for busy moms A simpler, more sustainable approach to eating that doesn't require tracking or timing windows Intermittent fasting isn't required to lose weight or feel your best, and it's definitely not one-size-fits-all for women. The real key is high-protein, macro-friendly meals that fit your actual life, without the mental load of timing every bite. Loved this episode? Episode Description: That stiffness when you wake up. The puffiness in your face. Feeling exhausted after eight hours of sleep. That is inflammation. And chronic inflammation is a low silent fire burning in your body every single day, quietly driving almost every disease you are afraid of. Most people have already spent good money trying to fix it. Most of them felt nothing. And the truth is not that supplements for inflammation are a scam. The truth is that most of what is on the shelf is underdosed, in the wrong form, and targeting the wrong pathway. Dr. G breaks down four supplements with real research behind them, the exact doses used in the trials, and the label tricks companies use to take your money without delivering results. Dr. G breaks down his anti-inflammatory protocol — in order: Take 1: "Ibuprofen does not lower your inflammation" Dr. G exposes why the most common go-to for pain and inflammation is only a temporary mask, not a fix. He reveals the molecule your body already makes to shut inflammation off and how to actually support it. Take 2: "One capsule of fish oil a day is doing close to nothing" The dose that moves inflammatory markers in real bloodwork is dramatically higher than what most people take. Dr. G gives the exact EPA and DHA number to hit and shows how to spot the label trick that makes you think you are getting more than you are. Take 3: "Boswellia hits a branch of inflammation that fish oil cannot reach" This is the one almost nobody is talking about. Dr. G breaks down why Boswellia serrata blocks a completely different inflammatory pathway and what has to appear on the label or the product is essentially useless. Take 4: "Cheap curcumin exits your body before it does anything" The most counterfeited anti-inflammatory supplement on the shelf gets a full breakdown. Dr. G explains what absorption actually requires, why black pepper is not enough, and what form to look for instead. Take 5: "Ginger is criminally underrated" It is dirt cheap, probably already in your spice drawer, and blocks both major inflammatory pathways. Dr. G makes the case for why ginger belongs in every anti-inflammatory protocol and what dose the research actually used. In this episode, you will learn: •  Why ibuprofen only presses the alarm button down temporarily while your body already has its own system for switching inflammation off, and how omega-3s at a real dose provide the raw materials for that system to work •  Why Boswellia serrata blocks a completely different branch of inflammation than ibuprofen or fish oil, why that matters if you have joint or autoimmune issues, and the one number that has to appear on the label or you have no idea what you are getting •  Why cheap curcumin is barely absorbed and exits your body before it does anything, what standardized and phytosome actually mean, and why ginger at one to three grams a day lowered objective inflammatory markers in clinical trials Plus why none of these four supplements will work if chronic stress is keeping your nervous system in low grade fight or flight every day. Product reviews assess both brand transparency and product quality. If a company doesn't respond to our outreach, it doesn't automatically mean their product is low quality but it does mean they're failing their customers on transparency and communication. We reach out multiple times. No response isn't an oversight, it's a choice. And consumers deserve better. In this Supplement Ingredient Series episode, Nurse Doza breaks down bovine adrenal gland — a glandular supplement with over a century of use, rooted in the ancestral practice of eating organ meat for nutrients the body needs to function. He explains how cortisol dysregulation can show up as afternoon crashes, mood shifts, and restless nights, and why adrenal glandular is paired with adaptogens and B vitamins in a three-in-one formula built to support the stress response. FEATURED PARTNER Zen (Stress Relief) by MSW Nutrition is the bovine adrenal gland formula Nurse Doza reaches for himself — and the reason is the ingredient itself, which is genuinely hard to find on a shelf. One capsule delivers 125 mg of adrenal gland tissue sourced from Argentina, paired with four standardized adaptogens (Asian ginseng, rhodiola, eleuthero, and schisandra), plus vitamin C, vitamin B6 as P5P, and pantothenic acid. That's the three-in-one Nurse Doza describes in this episode: glandular, adaptogens, and B vitamins in one capsule, formulated to support the body's stress response and steadier daily energy.

She digs into what the research really shows, including a widely cited meta-analysis that lumped together two very different kinds of studies, why the prescription-strength results don't tell you much about the low-dose supplement in your cabinet, and whether the food and gut bacteria you already have might be doing the job on their own. The Postpartum Reset

Carbs have become the new "fat is bad." Moms are showing up terrified of bread, rice, even fruit. In this episode, Brooke breaks down whether carbs actually cause weight gain, how many you really need, and the one shift that matters far more than cutting carbs out completely. What You'll Learn Carbs aren't the enemy, the type is what matters. Weight gain usually comes from processed, low-fiber carbs, not carbs in general. Swapping for higher fiber, more nutrient-dense options changes everything. There's no universal carb number. Needs shift based on activity level, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and life stage. A balanced plate matters more than hitting a specific gram target. Simple swaps make a big difference. Chickpea or lentil pasta, a brown rice and quinoa mix, higher fiber bread, and protein-packed breakfasts keep you fuller and prevent blood sugar crashes. Fiber needs increase with perimenopause and menopause. Aim for 25 to 30 grams a day. Higher fiber intake is linked to lower insulin resistance and even a 20% lower risk of hot flashes. Pairing carbs with protein and fat prevents blood sugar spikes. This is what actually curbs bingeing, not carb elimination. Keto isn't necessary for most moms. It has a place for specific medical conditions, but it's not the default answer for everyday weight loss. Carbs aren't what's derailing your progress, the type and the pairing are. Swap in more fiber, balance your plate with protein and healthy fats, and stop fearing the foods that actually give you energy to keep up with your kids. We brought some big foot energy to this great episode! The main training topic was a discussion of “zone compression,” where harder efforts get sustainable for longer durations in weird and wild ways. Our theory: zone compression techniques are driving lots of training theory. We break it all down! Before that, the episode starts with David's news that he's going to get surgery on his foot. We discuss the process to get here and what comes next. Answer: jokes come next. Life! And this one had so many fun topics! Other topics: creatine update, a study on stretching and blood pressure, why the Tour de France Femmes absolutely ruled, a strange study on blueberries and performance, a paper on negative social ties, the Sierre Zinal mascot, a hamster that is taking over Strava, side short pees, a question on PEDs, what to wear in the home sauna, regrets, and so much more.So much love for you all! Did you know a woman is just as likely to break a bone in her lifetime as she is to get breast, uterine, or ovarian cancer?! Yet bone health rarely makes it onto a busy mom's radar until it's too late... In this episode, Brooke sits down with Dr. John Neustadt, naturopathic physician, founder of Nutritional Biochemistry Inc., and bestselling author of Fracture Proof Your Bones, to unpack what really predicts fracture risk, what's silently working against your bones, and what you can start doing today, even in your 30s and 40s. What You'll Learn Bone density tests don't tell the whole story. They only predict fracture risk in 44% of women and 21% of men. Bone strength depends on collagen and protein, not just minerals, and that's what most tests miss. Common medications can quietly destroy bone. SSRIs, proton pump inhibitors, prednisone, and some blood pressure medications increase fracture risk, often without doctors or patients realizing it. Protein and collagen matter more than most women think. Under-eating protein is common, and adequate intake (plus hydrolyzed collagen) supports bone density and strength. Gait and balance predict fractures better than any test. Simple daily habits, like balance exercises and walking, lower fall risk more than people expect. The Mediterranean diet pattern works. A plants-and-protein approach is linked to a 20% reduction in osteoporosis risk and a 21% reduction in fracture risk. A diagnosis isn't an emergency. There's time to ask the right questions, get the right labs, and build a holistic plan before jumping straight to medication. Bone loss is silent, common, and largely preventable. A bone density number isn't destiny. Protein, movement, medication awareness, and the right labs give you real control over your bone health, starting now, not just after menopause. "Send me a text"In this episode, I break down the difference between education that commoditizes you and education that makes you the only reasonable choice, using Seed as the example. How they teach the market why most probiotics fail instead of why probiotics are good, so their education disqualifies the competition instead of growing the category. How they own the language of quality so every comparison quietly tilts in their favor. And how Seed University turned thousands of influencers into a moat that gets stronger the more they scale, rather than a message that gets diluted. I also get honest about the risk of living by the science, because when you build a brand on rigor, critics will hold you to it. Then I give you the exact audit to run on your own content to find out whether you're building a moat or funding a leak. Because supplements are a trust-dependent, skeptical purchase, and education is one of the only ways to earn the sale, which means getting it wrong is uniquely expensive.Learn more about The Supplement Business Accelerator Group at https://creativethirst.com/groupIf you're interested in working with me and my team to improve your supplement business. Episode Description: Wired and exhausted at the same time. Weight around your midsection that will not move no matter what you do. Mind racing the moment your head hits the pillow. That is not too much cortisol. That is a cortisol curve that has lost its shape. And there is a very real difference between those two things. Before Dr. G gets into the four supplements that have actual human research behind them, he is going to expose the cortisol detox teas and adrenal fatigue narrative for what they are. You cannot detox a steroid hormone. And the concept of adrenal fatigue was examined across 58 studies and has no scientific basis. What you actually have is a dysregulated HPA axis, and that is something you can actually fix. In this episode, you will learn:  •  Why ashwagandha is the most proven cortisol lowering supplement on earth by a wide margin, the exact label trick companies use to sell you an underdosed product, and who should never take it regardless of stress levels  •  The difference between the person who spikes easily under pressure and the person who crashes after sustained stress, why these require completely different supplements, and what phosphatidylserine and rhodiola each do that the other cannot  •  Why 45% of fish oil on shelves is already rancid, how to read the label to find out if your EPA and DHA numbers are actually therapeutic, and how omega-3s physically blunt both resting cortisol and cortisol spikes under stress Plus the one warning sign that means your cortisol issue is not everyday stress and you need to see a doctor immediately.Product reviews assess both brand transparency and product quality. If a company doesn't respond to our outreach, it doesn't automatically mean their product is low quality but it does mean they're failing their customers on transparency and communication. We reach out multiple times. No response isn't an oversight, it's a choice. And consumers deserve better. "Send me a text"The last two brands in this series won on lifestyle, identity, and belief. Soft, cultural, aspirational stuff. This one wins on the total opposite. Mars Men went from bootstrapped to a hundred million dollar revenue run rate in under eighteen months, profitably, serving over four hundred thousand customers. In this episode, I break down why the problem you choose to build around determines how hard your marketing has to work, and the difference between a low-intent problem you have to manufacture urgency for and a high-intent problem where the desire is already screaming. I get into why the market's squeamishness about naming an uncomfortable problem is your opening, and then I walk the economics that make this whole model scale. How a high-intent problem creates efficient acquisition, how a chronic problem creates natural retention, and how those two things together drive the lifetime value math that lets you outspend your competition and still profit. I also get honest about the risk, because when you build an aggressive direct response machine on a scientifically contentious promise, the whole thing lives or dies on whether the product actually delivers. Because people don't buy supplements the way they buy other products, and sometimes the biggest opportunity is the hard problem everyone else is avoiding.Learn more about The Supplement Business Accelerator Group at https://creativethirst.com/groupIf you're interested in working with me and my team to improve your supplement business. In this episode of Hope Natural Health, we break down why adding another supplement rarely fixes your hormone symptoms and what a testing-based reassessment plan actually looks like instead. We dive deep into the real difference between a symptom-driven "supplement stack" and an intentional, data-driven plan. Whether you are staring at a medicine cabinet full of magnesium, ashwagandha, Vitex, and berberine or simply wondering why you still don't feel like yourself, this episode gives you the exact questions and lab testing context to bring to your next provider visit.   In this episode, you will learn:  Why symptom-based supplement stacking often misses the true underlying driver behind issues like fatigue, mood swings, weight plateaus, and poor sleep. The specific targeted labs often skipped in standard workups, including full thyroid panels, ferritin, daily cortisol curves, and properly timed sex hormone testing. How correcting a single underlying root issue (like low ferritin) creates a positive domino effect across multiple, seemingly unrelated symptoms. How to evaluate your current supplement drawer and decide if a product is actually serving a measurable purpose in your health routine. Key questions to ask before adding any new supplement to ensure you have a clear plan for tracking its effectiveness.   Resources & Links: Take the Hormone Quiz to start seeing which hormone patterns are worth testing for: https://hormonequiz.drerinellis.com/   For more on Dr. Erin: Join The Hope Circle Community: https://hormonehealingproject.drerinellis.com/communities/groups/the-hope-circle/home?invite=69120d498b7e3f60397656b8 Work with Dr. Erin here: https://p.bttr.to/3E88ps4 Buy Dr. Erin's Supplements here: https://drerinellis.com/shop Get the Period Productivity Planner here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BBYBRT5Q?ref_=pe_3052080_397514860 Download the FREE Menstrual Cycle Nutrition Guide here: https://detox.drerinellis.com/ Watch The Free Video "7 Hormones Affecting Your Weight Loss Goals" here: https://weightloss.drerinellis.com/ Let's Be Friends: Follow Dr. Erin on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dr.erinellis/ Follow Dr. Erin on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/drerinellisnmd Follow Dr. Erin on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dr.erinellis?lang=en Join the Free Hope Circle Community: https://hormonehealingproject.drerinellis.com/communities/groups/the-hope-circle/home?invite=69120d498b7e3f60397656b8 Bookmark Dr. Erin's Website: www.drerinellis.com Subscribe to Hope Natural Health on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChHYVmNEu5tKu91EATHhEiA Follow Hope Natural Health on FB: https://www.facebook.com/hopenaturalhealth Sign up for Newsletters here: https://booking.hopenaturalhealth.com/widget/form/VUubL7MNYELduwQL8ssI

Many moms have heard the rule: "Don't eat after 7 PM if you want to lose weight." But is there actually any truth to it? In this episode, Registered Dietitian and Certified Lactation Counselor Brooke Miller breaks down one of the most common nutrition myths and explains what the research really says about eating late at night, weight gain, metabolism, and bedtime snacks.  You'll learn why the timing of your food matters far less than most people think, how skipping meals earlier in the day can fuel nighttime cravings, and when a bedtime snack can actually support your health goals. In This Episode You'll Learn: Whether eating after 7 PM causes weight gain Why your metabolism doesn't "shut off" at night The real reason many women struggle with nighttime cravings How protein, fiber, and healthy fats impact hunger and blood sugar Why going to bed hungry may backfire When a bedtime snack makes sense (and when it doesn't) How meal timing affects sleep quality The difference between a gentle overnight fast and restrictive intermittent fasting Best bedtime snack ideas for busy moms Why fixing your daytime eating habits is often the key to reducing evening snacking Be sure to subscribe, leave a review, and share this episode with a fellow mom who's ever wondered whether eating after dinner is hurting her weight loss goals. Remember: you don't need to fear food after 7 PM. The goal isn't eating less at night, it's fueling your body well throughout the entire day.

"Send me a text"Primal Queen is scaling fast, with women buying it on subscription and staying. So how do they do it? In this episode, I break down the single most underrated move in supplement marketing, which is riding a belief you didn't have to build. Primal Queen didn't create the ancestral nutrition movement. They found a belief that already had momentum and built the product for the people who already held it. I get into why changing what someone believes is the most expensive marketing there is, and why confirming what they already believe is the cheapest and most durable growth you've got. Then I break down exactly how they execute it. Wrapping the belief in the Queen identity and movement, using a like-supports-like mechanism that fits the belief even though the science is shaky, and still bringing real trust signals to satisfy the functional mind. I also get honest about the risk, because when belief outruns proof, the critics come, and when you tie your brand to a trend, you're exposed to its ceiling. Because people don't buy supplements the way they buy other products, and health is the most belief-saturated purchase there is.Learn more about The Supplement Business Accelerator Group at https://creativethirst.com/groupIf you're interested in working with me and my team to improve your supplement business. Adam's about to be Coweta's biggest celebrity. Porter and Prairie Farm's SEO game has worked so well that a Tulsa news station called wanting an interview about egg prices and how they're crushing family farms. Problem is, Adam has no idea what egg prices are doing anywhere else. He just knows what he charges, and that they've lost 35 chickens in two weeks. Lady Haylee, in her prudence, said maybe skip the interview. Adam already said yes. The real debate of the week: overalls or no overalls for the camera. Overalls, obviously. Carhartt, not blue jean, collared shirt underneath. Now both guys want branded farm overalls, Niles Ranch and Fecundity Farm for Dave, Porter and Prairie Family Farm for Adam.Sponsor: Amen app (from the Augustine Institute) The Amen app is the free Catholic prayer app the guys use to walk through the Sunday Gospel with their kids on the way to Mass, plus free access to classics like Divine Mercy in My Soul and True Devotion to Mary. No paywall, no subscription trap. Download the Amen app right now.Sponsor: Select International Tours When Adam and Dave planned their first pilgrimage, Select International Tours is who everyone pointed them to, and having used them, the guys can vouch for it. Wherever you want to go, head to selectinternationaltours.com and see what they offer.Dave's week wasn't any calmer. He harvested and shucked 500 to 700 ears of corn with the whole family, then blanched all of it late into the night while Lady Pamela held down a house full of unexpected company. His exact line on the way out the door: "I gotta go drink with my buddy for Jesus. It's a ministry, babe." Piglets are due any day, and this time he's praying they're born alive. The pour is a revisit: Salterra 14-Year Single Malt Scotch, finished in an Oloroso barrel, 48% ABV. Warm, not hot. Worth going back to.The prayer request is Mary. She's got an eye procedure Thursday, lasers, to make sure her retina stays attached so she doesn't go blind. She needs to put on weight first. Some days she gains 70 grams, some days she loses it. Thank you for praying. Keep it up.Then the real topic: what actually happens to your soul between the moment you die and the resurrection of your body. Can fire really burn something with no body to burn? Pulling from Aquinas's Summa, the guys walk through it. Your body dies, your soul doesn't, and it faces judgment immediately, heaven, hell, or purgatory on the way to heaven. The senses go dark since they run through bodily organs, but the intellect and the will, the parts that never needed a body to operate, stay fully awake. Aquinas's answer to the fire question: it doesn't burn the soul like a stove burns wood. It binds it. In sin, you subjected your higher self to a lower appetite, so in justice, a lower thing, fire, now holds your higher self captive. It's God's instrument, not chemistry. Then the bonus round: limbo. The limbo of the fathers, emptied by Christ at the Harrowing of Hell. The limbo of infants, never defined as dogma, still debated, and Dave's new coinage for where he thinks it actually belongs: limburgatory. A place with no suffering doesn't belong bolted onto hell.Protect what you love. Provide the truth even when it costs you something. Establish your kids in what's actually at stake. Raise your glass.TOPICS COVEREDPorter and Prairie Farm's SEO play working so well a Tulsa news station wants an egg price interviewLosing 35 chickens in two weeks and having zero idea what egg prices are doing anywhere elseThe overalls debate: Carhartt over blue jean, collared shirt, and the case for branded farm overallsThe economics of homesteading: it only "pays for itself" if you value your own labor at zeroDave shucking and blanching 500 to 700 ears of corn with the whole family in one night"I gotta go drink with my buddy for Jesus, it's a ministry, babe"Piglets due any day and praying for a better outcome than last timeBourbon of the week: revisiting Salterra 14-Year Single Malt Scotch, Oloroso barrel finish, 48% ABVPrayer update on baby Mary: a Thursday laser eye procedure to protect her retina, and the fight to gain weightWhat actually happens to the soul between death and the resurrection of the bodyMatthew 25:41 and what "everlasting fire" could mean for a devil who has no body to burnThe difference between your particular judgment at death and the general judgment at the end of timeWhy death is genuinely abhorrent: the violent separation of body and soul, not just leaving earthAquinas on why the intellect and will stay fully awake after death even though the senses go darkSt. Gregory versus Aquinas on whether merely seeing hellfire is itself the punishmentAquinas's actual argument: fire doesn't cook the soul, it binds it, as an instrument of divine justiceWhy the fires of hell and purgatory are, per Aquinas, the very same fireThe three conditions required for mortal sin, and why hell is always a freely chosen destinationThe limbo of the fathers, the bosom of Abraham, and Christ emptying it at the Harrowing of HellThe limbo of infants, the 2007 theological commission document, and why it was never defined as dogmaBaptism of desire and the "intent of an intent" question for unbaptized infantsDave's case for "limburgatory" against Dante's placement of limbo as an annex of hellWhy presuming on God's mercy is itself a sin, and how that shapes the whole limbo debateREFERENCED IN THIS EPISODEBooks & Writings:Summa Theologiae, Supplement, Questions 69 and 70, by St. Thomas Aquinas (compiled by his students after his death)The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri (limbo placed as an annex of hell)Diary: Divine Mercy in My Soul by St. Maria Faustina Kowalska (free on the Amen app)True Devotion to Mary by St. Louis de Montfort (free on the Amen app)Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 1261 (hope for children who die without baptism)The Hope of Salvation for Infants Who Die Without Being Baptized, International Theological Commission, 2007 (approved by Pope Benedict XVI)Saints & Church Figures:St. Thomas AquinasSt. Gregory (the Great)St. AugustineSt. Francis de SalesSt. Maria Faustina KowalskaSt. Louis de MontfortPope Benedict XVIDr. Peter Kreeft (referenced via the Matt Fradd interview clip, and the recent death of his wife of 63 years)People:Adam Minihan (host; Porter and Prairie Family Farm, Lady Haylee, baby Mary's NICU and eye procedure update, M6 Marketing, The Grounded Builder on Substack)Dave Niles (host; Fecundity Farm, Niles Ranch, Lady Pamela, the corn harvest, coiner of "limburgatory")Lady Haylee (Adam's wife)Lady Pamela (Dave's wife)Matt Fradd (interviewer in the referenced Peter Kreeft clip)

The label on a supplement bottle tells you what went into the capsule — not what reaches your cells. For a great many products, the gap between those two numbers is enormous, and it is invisible at the point of purchase The scientific term for how much of a compound actually reaches your bloodstream in active form is bioavailability. Most oral supplements lose a large fraction of their dose to stomach acid, poor solubility, and rapid elimination before they ever do any good Fat-soluble plant compounds and minerals are especially vulnerable, which is why two products with nearly identical labels can produce completely different results in the real world Across the research, one theme repeats: improving delivery improves outcomes. Episode Description: There are over 40 supplements on the market right now promising to raise your testosterone. The vast majority of them are a waste of your money. Some are doing nothing at all. Others may be doing damage. And this episode is not sponsored by a single one of them. After age 35, testosterone drops by 1% every year. For most men that starts to feel like lost recovery, vanishing drive, and stubborn fat around the midsection that will not budge. But low testosterone is not just a gym problem. It travels directly alongside insulin resistance, visceral fat accumulation, cardiovascular risk, depression, and cognitive decline. Out of 40 plus products making claims, only five have actual randomized controlled trial data behind them. Dr. G breaks all five down today, including the exact form and dose used in the research. In this episode, you'll learn:  •  Why KSM-66 ashwagandha is the most clinically validated of the group, how chronic stress is biologically competing with your testosterone production for the same raw materials, and why the form on the label matters more than the brand  •  How Tongkat Ali works by freeing up testosterone that is already in your body but locked away and unavailable, and why it produced a 90% normalization rate in men who were clinically low  •  Why most men with normal testosterone on paper still have low free testosterone, and how magnesium and zinc address the two different sides of that problem Plus where vitamin D actually fits in the stack, the one free intervention that matters more than all five supplements combined, and why deep sleep is where the majority of your testosterone is actually made.
