We could all use more humor in our lives. The best kind of humor is the unexpected laughs when reading a book that surprises us. Disguised as a science fiction time travel short story collection, one such books helps us laugh at the political spectrum within the science fiction genre—something that not many writers can pull off. Think of how witty and unexpected Douglas Adams was with the Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy. If you mix modern-day US politics with that kind of tone you get what writer Chrome Oxide delivers in his award-winning book "28 Minutes Into the Future." His dry and sarcastic wit is matched by his ability to shine an unconventional light on our world. Chrome Oxide (probably not his real name but we’ll keep his secret) started life as a bean counter. He worked in computer programming, and along the way wrote over 60 scifi-fantasy short stories. In 2013 Chrome was honored with an award from Writers of the Future. His book, 28 Minutes Intothe Future contains hilarious stories that jab at political correctness in a myriad of ways. With all his spare time, Chrome became a music historian, documenting the instrumental surf music scene. His live recordings of bands from around the world make up one of the largest collections in Southern California and possibly the world. He recently finished the second draft of a twisted fantasy novel.
