Calling all questionable mushroom-based life-forms. This week on Shoot the Hostage, Dan and Sarah are hitting the reset button on reality and plummeting into the bonkers world of the Super Mario Bros. (1993). As we reach the final level of our "Flops" season, we're asking the essential questions about this infamous film adapted from a computer game: Was it doomed from the start? How did this become one of the most notorious flops of all time?... And why is Fisher Stevens in white-face? Join us as we traverse Dinohattan's fungal landscapes and try to make sense of the troubled pipe-line of production that saw directors Annabel Jankel and Rocky Morton (yes, the creators of Max Headroom) reportedly clashing with the studio. We dive headfirst into the legends surrounding the set: Bob Hoskins's well-documented hatred for the film and Dennis Hopper's baffling T-Rex inspired mannerisms and alleged Trump-like ego. Despite being a massive box office failure, we debate if there's merit in its sheer ambition and bizarre ideas, like de-evolution or people turning into fungus. Is it a total s*** sandwich, or does it hold up as a weirdly compelling slice of bizarre 90s cinema? If you're nostalgic for the days when video-game movies were finding their feet (or just tripping over them), or just curious about movies that make you feel nostalgic for poor life choices, this episode is your Power Up! Expect discussion on: Comparing this flop to other season entries like Tank Girl and Battlefield Earth. The bizarre notion of dimensional rifts caused by sound waves. The lasting impact this film had on Nintendo's handling of their IP. Why the song "Walk the Dinosaur" makes absolutely no sense. Luigi's surprisingly sweet rainbow belt. That's it for season 10! Stay tuned until the end to find out the plan for season 11, which begins June 23rd. Would you like to see the full lineup for season 11? Get ready for a rollercoaster of HR drama and economic shade on this week's show as we unpack a can o' worms, starting with the wild corporate espionage feud between Rippling and Deel, with Rippling alleging Deel's spying triggered a federal probe and Globalization Partners reporting similar shenanigans—Chad says Deel's C-suite might need a total reboot. Klarna's AI avatar-led earnings report screams IPO hype, but its predatory micro-loan model gets roasted, with J.T. warning job seekers to master video authentication as AI interviews become universal. Speaking of AI, job seekers are slamming glitchy, soulless AI interviews, with J.T. urging strategic job hunting in a market tougher than 2008, while Chad pitches quirky Max Headroom-style AI to ease the weirdness. Utah's AwardCo snags $165M and a $1B valuation for its employee recognition platform, but the hosts call it a shiny fix for lousy leadership, doomed to breed dissatisfaction. Trump's tariff tantrum at Walmart, demanding they “eat” costs, is labeled chaotic misdirection by Chad, with J.T. seeing it as Trump's chaos-and-save tactic. The Senate's No Tax on Tips Act, offering a $25,000 deduction, is slammed as a distraction from living wages—only 2.5% of workers rely on tips, and Joel mourns the sidestep of real wage reform. Ever wanted to time travel right onto the bridge of your favorite Galaxy-Class starship? Hey, us, too, but we'll have to settle for watching Max Headroom do it in “A Matter of Time” on this all-new episode of ST:TNGeez . . . NOW!The Enterprise is on its way to Penthara IV for an emergency rescue mission when Worf notices a temporal anomaly has left something behind. Picard tells Ensign Felton to flip the bitch, and before you know it, he has to take a jump to the left (or is it a step to the right) to allow Berlinghoff Rasmussen to beam aboard. Our new friend claims to be a historian from the 26th century here to hang out and ask some questions and generally be a pain in the ass. Picard seems amused enough at the start, but Rasmussen quickly gets on everyone's nerves. He keeps poking around and dropping cryptic hints while the crew is trying to save a planet from the after effects of an asteroid's impact. Rasmussen claims he's on board to witness history, but he just might have an ulterior motive. Will Geordi and Data be able to cobble together a solution that will save Penthara IV? Will Worf get to backhand Rasmussen? Will our visiting time traveller get to make some time with our beloved Bev? In Part 2 of our series on the Max Headroom Broadcast Signal Interruption, we dig deeper into the analog chaos that unfolded in 1987 Chicago — a surreal, rebellious hijacking that mocked media itself. We explore the investigation, the lingering mystery, and what it says about how we interact with technology, culture, and entertainment today. Who was behind that mask? Who wielded that fly-swatter? Let's get into it. Visit our website for a lot more information on this episode.
This month we're back to the mid 80s to talk about our favourite songs of 1986, including thrash metal classics, proto-industrial stompers, enormous pop bangers, massive cheesy 80s soundtrack rock and loads more. We've each chosen our 10 favourite songs of the year and sent them over to Colin's wife Helen, who put the playlists together and distributed them so we were each given a playlist of the 20 songs from the other two hosts, along with our own 10. We then ranked the playlists in order of preference and sent them back to Helen, who totalled up the points and worked out the order. She also joined us on the episode to read out the countdown, which we found out as we recorded so all reactions are genuine. Now, admittedly, in parts we're a little bit brutal to some of the songs in the list as we're three separate people with differing music tastes, but please remember that to be in this episode at all the songs have to have been in one of our top 10's of that year.Bands featured in this episode include (In alphabetical order, no spoilers here!) - a-ha, The Art Of Noise ft Max Headroom, Big Black, The Bolshoi, Bon Jovi, Billy Bragg, Stan Bush, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Crowded House, Cutting Crew, Europe, The Go-Betweens, Bruce Hornsby & The Range, The Housemartins, Hüsker Dü, In The Nursery, Iron Maiden, KMFDM, Kenny Loggins, Merzbow, Metallica, New Order, Public Image Ltd, R.E.M., Lionel Richie, Shub Niggurath, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Slayer, The Smiths, & They Might Be Giants.Find all songs in alphabetical order here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2SmV87RMDnpidlUpn4m7lU?si=Ssrrhy8iRtCgFXSP9-QXug&pi=p67BZNXETwqB5Find our We Dig Music Pollwinners Party playlist (featuring all of the winning songs up until now) here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/45zfDHo8zm6VqrvoEQSt3z?si=Ivt0oMj6SmitimvumYfFrQIf you want to listen to megalength playlists of all the songs we've individually picked since we started doing best of the year episodes (which need updating but I plan on doing them over the next few months or so), you can listen to Colin's here – https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5x3Vy5Jry2IxG9JNOtabRT?si=HhcVKRCtRhWCK1KucyrDdgIan's here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2H0hnxe6WX50QNQdlfRH5T?si=XmEjnRqISNqDwi30p1uLqAand Tracey's here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2p3K0n8dKhjHb2nKBSYnKi?si=7a-cyDvSSuugdV1m5md9NwThe playlist of 20 songs from the other two hosts was scored as usual, our favourite song got 20 points, counting down incrementally to our least favourite which got 1 point. The scoring of our own list of 10 is now slightly more complicated in order to give a truer level of points to our own favourites. So rather than them only being able to score as many points as our 10th favourite in the other list, the points in our own list were distributed as follows -1st place - 20 points2nd place - 18 points3rd place – 16 points4th place – 14 points5th place – 12 points6th place – 9 points7th place – 7 points8th place – 5 points9th place – 3 points10th place -1 pointHosts - Ian Clarke, Colin Jackson-Brown & Tracey BGuest starring Helen Jackson-Brown.Playlist compiling/distributing – Helen Jackson-BrownRecorded/Edited/Mixed/Original Music by Colin Jackson-Brown for We Dig PodcastsThanks to Peter Latimer for help with the scoring system.Part of the We Dig Podcasts network along with Free With This Months Issue & Pick A Disc.Bluesky - https://bsky.app/profile/wedigmusic.bsky.socialInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/wedigmusicpcast/Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/wedigpusicpcast/Find our other episodes & podcasts at www.wedigpodcasts.com

Before streaming and scrolling there was broadcast television—shared signals sent through the air for anyone with an antenna to catch. But when something's that open, it's also open to hijacking. In part one of our two-part series, we dig into one of the most bizarre and legendary cases of broadcast piracy: the Max Headroom Incident. On November 22, 1987, two Chicago stations were interrupted by a strange figure in a Max Headroom mask, delivering surreal, unsettling messages in a two-minute broadcast that has baffled and fascinated for nearly four decades. Who did it, why, and how did they pull it off? We explore the theories, the tech, and the legend that refuses to fade. Visit our website for a lot more information on this episode.

Although it would be more thematically appropriate of us to NOT tell you about this week's episode, we are going to be rebellious and do it anyway—sans mohawk and safety pins. Andrew joins Ben this week to ruminate over the work punk. After discussing what they have been up to, debating the importance of a thesis statement (or lack thereof), and sharing their experiences with the game they have both (YES BOTH) been playing, Dungeon Clawler by Stray Fawn Studio, they embark upon a sensory adventure together… in STEREO! Following the traditional definition festivities, they explore their thoughts and feelings associated with the word. Finally, Ben talks about Suda51—recognized by many as one of the most “punk rock” game developers out there in addition to being author responsible for a favorite gaming narrative of his. *** 00:00:00 - Andrew's Crowdfundr ADHD pin promo and the obligatory 2VP theme song Please contribute to Andrew's latest Crowdfundr campaign and buy a swanky “Advanced Dungeons Have Dragons” ADHD enamel pin! https://crowdfundr.com/dragonpin?ref=ab_5eGT0FGiaC55eGT0FGiaC5 00:02:03 - Book progress, a 25 percent different demon, veggies, and many presidents ago 00:04:37 - Ben breaks kayfabe, the Piper Cafe, the Safehouse, price tags, and trading cards 00:06:37 - Verified on Bluesky, Andrew's 2025 call, allies for decades, and Bash the alarm clock 00:09:25 - Thoughts on the thesis, eating children, Substack review handling, and epic poems 00:14:24 - The Hunt for Red October, embargo date debate, and Uncle Chop's Rocket Shop 00:17:23 - Looking at manuals, divergent vs. diverse, symptoms of life, and rewiring the brain 00:21:01 - Autistic trends, a mom's introduction to Rick and Morty, and a claw machine thesis 00:24:22 - Christopher Nolan, Dungeon Clawler impressions, and Andrew describes the game 00:27:45 - Ben wants more stuff, Count Clawcula, thumbs up, and speaking of potato snacks 00:29:35 - In stereo, lining them up in post, the bouquet, the mouth feel, and a mystery flavor 00:31:53 - Aged in wooden tubes, the proof with vinegar, maltodextrin, and the aging problem 00:34:44 - Ben's bourbon belch, she smelled like soup, the comma, and ten points in Scrabble 00:37:40 - The derogatory definition, Ben's Allen Funt impression, and the skipped definition 00:40:01 - Punk sticks, anarchy, being adjacent, punk credit, and getting out what you put in 00:43:03 - The Bumblebee Tuna theme in Ska, the energy, and questionable stuff in Tucson 00:45:00 - Going to the Meet Rack, the condom machine, lubricated regulars, and river rafting 00:47:24 - Not inherently political, Andrew's Portland punk experiences, and The Young Ones 00:50:00 - The Seattle WTO Protests, moving into retail, against the grain, and hybrid formats 00:53:44 - Not Punky Brewster, punk as a suffix, Daft Punk origin, and Max Headroom shows 00:57:02 - The Video Toaster, actor Matt Frewer, platinums, and Ben sells 100 million albums 00:58:40 - Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, not Sudafed, and the games of Suda51 01:01:23 - Punk Rock sub-genres, Franz Kafka game gets canceled, and Garcia is a Mexi-CAN 01:04:37 - Something that happens, expired donuts, mistook it for a Cybertruck, and food love 01:07:30 - So romantic, Michigan, final thoughts, Joe saved the podcast, and formica dragons *** Follow Andrew / Partly Robot Industries on… His website: https://partlyrobot.com/ On Instagram: https://instagram.com/partlyrobot On TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@partlyrobot On Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/partlyrobot.com On Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/partlyrobot And his TREE o' LINKS: http://linktr.ee/partlyrobot Follow Two Vague on… Our website: https://www.twovaguepodcast.com On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/two_vague_podcast On YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@twovaguepodcast On Substack: https://substack.com/@twovaguepodcast On Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/twovaguepodcast.com For show appearance and other inquiries, contact us at: twovaguepodcast@gmail.com -AND- …for all of your PRI and 2VP merch check out the Partly Robot Industries store at TEEPUBLIC! https://www.teepublic.com/user/partly-robot-industries *** References, Links, and Tags For more information about Stray Fawn Studio's game Dungeon Clawler… https://strayfawnstudio.com/ https://dungeonclawler.com/ For more information about Uncle Chops Rocket Shop, developer Beard Envy Games, and publisher Kasedo Games… https://www.unclechops.com/ https://www.beardenvy.co.uk/ https://www.kasedogames.com/ Check out Ben's review of SlavicPunk: Oldtimer on the Two Vague Podcast Substack… https://substack.com/home/post/p-154373300 Check out Red Square Games and SlavicPunk: Oldtimer on Steam… https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44288282-Red-Square-Games/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/1820140/SlavicPunk_Oldtimer/ Check out SUDA51 / Grasshopper Manufacture's games https://www.grasshopper.co.jp/en/ https://www.shadows-of-the-damned-hellaremastered.com/ #Podbean #DIYPodcast #ApplePodcast #VideoGames #Trivia #Comedy #Talkshow #2VP #TwoVaguePodcast #PodernFamily #InterviewShow #GamersofThreads #Gamer #PartlyRobot #PartlyRobotIndustries #TeePublic #StrayFawnStudio #DungeonClawler #BeardEnvyGames #UncleChopsRocketShop #KasedoGames #GrasshopperManufacture #ShadowsoftheDamnedHellaRemastered #Suda51

Welcome to Cyberpunk Cinema – the Definitive Dive into the Dark Future of Science Fiction. I am your host, Anthony La Pira, and I will be taking you on a cinematic journey through the sprawling cityscapes, the crippling datastorms, and the cybernetic implants that encompass all things Cyberpunk. In this week's episode, I will be breaking-down the 1985 cyberpunk classic TV-Movie Max Headroom – directed by Annabel Jankel & Rocky Morton; written by Steve Roberts; starring Matt Frewer, Amanda Pays, Nickolas Grace, William Morgan Sheppard, Paul Spurrier, and Hilton McRae.In the dystopic near future, a crusading TV reporter investigates news stories with the help of a wisecracking computer version of himself.Max Headroom was a cyberpunk film set “20 minutes into the future” that explored the evils of post-capitalist corporatism, the dystopian bleak future society obsessed with media, the pessimism of mankind in a digital age, and the rise of avatars as a new way of life. It's Blade Runner meets Network! Max Headroom was a prescient look at a near future that looks eerily like the world we live in now. Plus, Max Headroom himself became a pop-culture personality that lasted longer than it's short-lived TV series. This week on It Was a Thing on TV First, the year is 1989 and the Max Headroom fad, for the most part, has come and gone. Next up for Matt Frewer is a comedy where laughter is sometimes the best medicine. Doctor Doctor ran two abbreviated seasons, followed by a full final season. The show tackled some very sensitive yet timely topics during its run including AIDS and homophobia, but went away quietly after a ratings nosedive. Then, in 1968, the song Harper Valley PTA was a number one hit for Jeannie C. Riley. In 1978, the song was the inspiration for a movie with the same title, starring Barbara Eden. Three years later, this show came into being with Eden at the helm, about the battles Eden's character had with the PTA of a fictional Ohio town called Harper Valley. In this episode we're glitching out to the eighties stylings of, Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future (1985). Along the way Paul reveals a dislike for a certain 80s game show, Colin reveals how Paul snaffles his pies, and they both face the end of the world; the eighties way.
This week on It Was a Thing on TV we're going 20 minutes into the future! First, before this week's episodes, we discuss the future of the podcast here on Place to be Nation POP and then discuss what's to come in the coming year. Then, we start by talking about one of the biggest pop culture sensations in the 1980s who was an omnipresent personality for the computer generation named Max Headroom. Not only was Max Headroom a talk show host, a soda pitchman, and visible on different mediums in the latter half of the 80s, but this phenomenon even got a scripted television show which ran over two seasons, a show about a post-apocalyptic dystopia reminiscent of 1984. Finally, in 1987, the signals of both WGN and WTTV in Chicago were overtaken by two brief unknown signals, both showing an unknown figure wearing a Max Headroom mask. To this day, there are more answers than questions about these incidents: Who did this? How did they do it? Why did they do it? To this day, these brief interruptions remain one of the biggest mysteries to occur on U.S. broadcast television. This Day in Legal History: Max Headroom IncidentOn November 22, 1987, a bizarre and illegal hijacking of television signals in Chicago made history as the "Max Headroom incident." During an evening broadcast of the news on WGN-TV, the signal was interrupted by a person wearing a rubber Max Headroom mask—a character from a popular British-American sci-fi show. The intruder, who spoke in distorted audio while a buzzing background noise played, reappeared later during a broadcast of "Doctor Who" on PBS affiliate WTTW. In the second interruption, the masked figure performed erratic gestures, spouted nonsensical phrases, and referenced TV culture, all culminating in a crude act involving a flyswatter and exposed buttocks. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), tasked with regulating airwaves, launched an immediate investigation, as signal hijacking violates federal laws prohibiting unauthorized use of broadcast frequencies. Despite efforts by the FCC and law enforcement, the perpetrators were never identified, adding an air of mystery to the event. The technical feat required to override broadcast signals in 1987 suggested that the culprits had considerable expertise and access to specialized equipment. This incident was one of the most notorious cases of broadcast signal intrusion, highlighting vulnerabilities in television networks at the time. It also sparked debates about cybersecurity, freedom of expression, and the emerging role of "hacktivism" in digital media. No further incidents of this type occurred on such a scale in the United States, likely due to improvements in broadcast security and stricter regulatory oversight. President-elect Donald Trump announced his nomination of former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as Attorney General following Matt Gaetz's withdrawal. Bondi, a longstanding Trump ally, has been a vocal supporter of his claims that the Justice Department's investigations into him were politically biased. If confirmed, Bondi would oversee major aspects of the DOJ, including defending controversial policies and managing federal grants.Trump praised Bondi for her toughness and alignment with his "America First" agenda. Bondi previously served on Trump's legal defense team during his first impeachment trial and has taken high-profile legal stances, including challenging the Affordable Care Act as Florida's Attorney General. However, her tenure has also been marked by controversies, such as accepting a Trump Foundation donation while considering action against Trump University, though no wrongdoing was found.Bondi's nomination comes as Trump plans significant changes to the Justice Department, including possible leadership shifts, and amid ongoing federal indictments against him. Bondi has publicly supported Trump's claims of voter fraud and pledged to investigate alleged “deep state” actors. Her background includes working on drug policy and opioid abuse commissions during Trump's first term and involvement with the Trump-aligned America First Policy Institute.Matt Gaetz, initially chosen for the role, stepped down citing the distraction caused by controversies, including a closed sex trafficking investigation and a House Ethics probe. Trump's choice of Bondi highlights his intent to reshape the DOJ's focus while surrounding himself with trusted allies.Trump Picks Pam Bondi for Attorney General After Gaetz Exit (1)Trump picks Pam Bondi for US Attorney General after Gaetz withdraws | ReutersPresident-elect Donald Trump has appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), tasked with identifying and repealing federal regulations they consider overly burdensome or invalid. The panel plans to focus on rules that they argue were enacted by unaccountable bureaucracies, guided by recent Supreme Court decisions that curtail agency rulemaking powers. DOGE also aims to propose mass layoffs and identify unauthorized federal spending, with a goal of completing its work by July 4, 2026.Repealing federal rules, however, is a complex and lengthy process governed by the Administrative Procedure Act, which requires detailed justifications, public comment periods, and compliance with legal standards. While Trump could issue executive orders halting enforcement of certain rules, agencies must still follow formal procedures for repealing them. Lawsuits are likely to challenge attempts to eliminate regulations, especially by opponents who claim improper justification or procedural violations.Musk and Ramaswamy's efforts will leverage recent Supreme Court rulings limiting agencies' ability to address major economic or societal issues without explicit Congressional authorization. Despite this, many regulations have firm legal backing, making their repeal difficult. Legal experts predict a wave of lawsuits and mixed outcomes, given the partisan makeup of federal courts. DOGE's recommendations signal Trump's broader agenda to significantly curtail the administrative powers of federal agencies. How Trump's Musk-led efficiency panel could slash federal agency rules | ReutersThe European Commission has closed its four-year antitrust investigation into Apple's rules for e-book and audiobook app developers following the withdrawal of the original complaint. The complainant, who remains unnamed, opted to drop the case, prompting regulators to end the probe. The closure does not indicate that Apple's conduct was found to comply with EU competition laws. EU regulators emphasized their ongoing commitment to monitoring tech industry practices, including Apple's, under the Digital Markets Act and broader competition regulations. The case's conclusion reflects the challenges in sustaining antitrust investigations without active complainants, though scrutiny of Apple's business practices in Europe is expected to persist.EU regulators scrap probe into Apple's e-book rules after complaint was withdrawn | ReutersSenate Democrats have agreed to a deal with Republicans to advance votes on President Joe Biden's district court nominees while abandoning four appellate court picks. The agreement allows the Senate to confirm several district court judges quickly, despite GOP stalling tactics aimed at delaying Biden's judicial appointments before Republicans assume control of the White House and Senate in January. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's spokesperson highlighted that the trade-off prioritized advancing more district court nominees over the blocked circuit picks. The deal derails the nominations of Adeel Mangi, Ryan Park, Karla Campbell, and Julia Lipez for appellate court seats. Mangi, who would have been the first Muslim federal appellate judge, faced opposition from some Democrats over allegations linking him to antisemitic and anti-police groups. Park's nomination was also at risk due to lack of Republican support. Meanwhile, the Senate pushed forward on cloture votes for several district court nominees, including Spark Sooknanan, Brian Murphy, Anne Hwang, Cynthia Valenzuela Dixon, and Catherine Henry. Votes on their confirmations will occur after Thanksgiving. Other nominees, such as Sharad Desai for Arizona and several others approved by the Judiciary Committee, also advanced. The agreement leaves critical appellate seats open, including those on the Third and First Circuits, aiding President-elect Donald Trump's agenda to influence the federal judiciary. Some judges considering semi-retirement may now delay their decisions, further impacting the judicial landscape.Biden Circuit Picks Derailed by Senate Deal on Trial Judges (2)This week's closing theme is by Johann Sebastian Bach.Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) was a German composer and musician of the Baroque period, widely regarded as one of the greatest composers in Western music history. Born into a family of musicians in Eisenach, he displayed prodigious talent from a young age, mastering the organ, harpsichord, and violin. Throughout his career, Bach held prestigious positions as a court musician, music director, and cantor, most notably serving as the Thomaskantor in Leipzig, where he composed many of his most enduring works. His output includes cantatas, concertos, masses, and instrumental pieces, showcasing an unparalleled command of counterpoint, harmony, and structure. Despite limited recognition during his lifetime, Bach's music profoundly influenced later composers, earning him the title "Father of Music."This week's closing music is Bach's Prelude and Fugue in G minor, BWV 861, from The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book I. This collection of preludes and fugues in all 24 major and minor keys was revolutionary, both as a demonstration of the possibilities of the then-novel well-tempered tuning system and as a masterclass in compositional technique. The G minor prelude opens with a flowing, somber melody that builds in complexity, evoking introspection and elegance. The fugue that follows is a testament to Bach's genius for counterpoint, weaving together a single thematic idea into an intricate tapestry of musical voices. The Prelude and Fugue in G minor exemplifies Bach's ability to transform simple ideas into profound statements, inviting listeners into a world of meticulous craftsmanship and emotional depth. It's a fitting choice to close the week, blending timeless artistry with intellectual rigor.Without further ado, Johann Sebastian Bach's Prelude and Fugue in G minor, enjoy. This is a public episode. In 1987, the signals of both WGN and WTTV in Chicago were overtaken by two brief unknown signals, both showing an unknown figure wearing a Max Headroom mask. To this day, there are more answers than questions about these incidents: Who did this? How did they do it? Why did they do it? To this day, these brief interruptions remain one of the biggest mysteries to occur on U.S. broadcast television. One of the biggest pop culture sensations in the 1980s was an omnipresent personality for the computer generation named Max Headroom. Not only was Max Headroom a talk show host, a soda pitchman, and visible on different mediums in the latter half of the 80s, but this phenomenon even got a scripted television show which ran over two seasons, a show about a post-apocalyptic dystopia reminiscent of 1984.
