Death is a mighty enemy (1 Cor. 15:25-26) and the last that will be defeated (Rev. 20:14), but did you realize that God uses death to benefit us? As with every negative thing, the Almighty can bring good out of bad. That's exactly what he did by removing mankind's access to the Tree of Life. Our Q&A this week is from Richard Jenkins, who asks whether the Jubilee cycle is 49 years or 50 years. Our answer will be split into two episodes in order to do the question justice. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/watchmanalexander/support

Today's top stories: Politics: Who will be Floyd County's next sheriff? Our Q&A and candidate profiles with Tom Caldwell, Ronnie Kilgo and Dave Roberson. Today, 14th Congressional House Republican hopefuls go at it online at 3 p.m. or on TV at 8 p.m. Link to Senate Democratic hopefuls from Sunday evening. Dining: Tortaco coming from Trion to former Magretta Hall at Broad and Second Avenue. 'Medical pods' go up outside Floyd in case of pandemic 'surge.' Latest updates from the state. Pandemic and politics: Bartow County, coronavirus the focal points in AJC column on a state Senate race, who spread COVID-19 among lawmakers and what's next. Ware Mechanical Weather Center: After a summer-like weekend, low 80s today, Tuesday; low 70s Wednesday. RANT OF THE DAY: The Voccio Doctrine. Gary Voccio retired from his medical practice and began a second career as the director of Northwest District of the Georgia Department of Public Health right before the coronavirus pandemic arrived in Georgia. The doctor was among those credited early on with pushing for the needed tests that confirmed a Polk County woman under examination at Floyd Medical Center would become the first “positive” patient in Northwest Georgia. Since then, Voccio has been among the more public faces in the region when it comes to the virus and what’s next. And late Friday, he issued another community update that demanded and received immediate notice. We know that based on the hits or views or whatever we call them this week on our website. He said: “So, we’re reopening. Even if we do it right, the decision to reopen the state and our Northwest Georgia communities without a treatment or vaccine is a decision to accept more illness and more death for the sake of resurrecting our economy sooner.” Of all the speeches and lectures we’re heard since March 1 from the governor on down, that last paragraph nailed exactly where we are – and exactly why we are here. The only question from it all is whether we’re going to listen to what Voccio had to say. We hope so as we have many more innings to go. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/john-druckenmiller/support

The seventh season of Penalty Box Radio on 102.5 The Game kicks off talking all things Gritty in the Music City. Not really. We discuss Eeli Tolvanen and Preds preseason and more to start it off. Shayna Goldman of The Athletic New York helped us preview the New York Rangers, the Eastern Conference and fantasy hockey. Pete Jensen of NHL.com and the NHL Network then joined us for a deep dive into all things fantasy hockey. Insider tips, sleepers and who to avoid. Our Q&A segment focused on the Preds roster, expectation for players and more.
May 20, 2018 PM, Various. Our Q&A dealt with questions about the sanctification of unsaved children or spouses who are in a home with one believing parent/spouse. We discussed briefly the matter of divorce and remarriage, and what "under bondage" means in 1 Cor. 7:15. We made a connection to church discipline and how the unbeliever departing from the sanctifying influence of the believing spouse puts them in a more dangerous place in life. We discussed the question about the role of husband and wife in marriage--specifically whether the roles were established because sin entered the world, or whether there would have been a differentiation of roles even if sin had not entered the world. We read 1 Samuel 7. As often the case with our Q&A sessions, there are some parts hard to hear; most of the questions have been cut out of the recording because they were impossible to hear.
We welcome guest co-host Chase McCabe of 102.5 The Game to sit in and talk Preds with us. We briefly discuss round 1 of Preds vs Avs and he tells us about his adventures of traveling with the team. Next, Drew Mindell of Illegal Curve Hockey joined us to talk all things Winnipeg Jets. A great preview of the round 2 match up. (11:20) We then took a few phone calls and then looked around the league at the rest of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. (23:30) Our Q&A never disappoints. We talk line combinations and more! (36:00)
THIS IS PART 2 - Our Q&A session with Mark Charles. Please go back and listen to Part 1 first, which is the lecture, to better understand the context of these questions. How deep do issues of race and discrimination go in our country and in our Christian faith? Mark Charles digs into this complex history in order to help forge a path of healing and conciliation for both the church and our nation. Mark Charles is a dynamic and thought-provoking public speaker, writer, and consultant. The son of an American woman (of Dutch heritage) and a Navajo man, he speaks with insight into the complexities of American history regarding race, culture, and faith in order to help forge a path of healing and conciliation for the nation. Mark serves as the Washington DC correspondent and regular columnist for Native News Online and is the author of the popular blog "Reflections from the Hogan." He served on the board of the Christian Community Development Association (CCDA) and is a former Board of Trustee member of the Christian Reformed Church of North America (CRCNA). Mark also consults with the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship (CICW), has served as the pastor of the Christian Indian Center in Denver CO and is a founding partner of a national conference for Native students called “Would Jesus Eat Frybread?” (CRU, IVCF and CICW).
