This week on News Now, host Taylor Inman breaks down the biggest stories shaping northwest Montana — beginning with a Mexican national and accused drug trafficker who pleaded guilty in federal court after a high-speed chase through Kalispell this summer. We look at his criminal history, the charges still ahead, and what federal prosecutors say about the case. Then, Somers-Lakeside School District is preparing to issue a special tax assessment after a data error slashed property tax collections by nearly 25%, draining reserve funds and forcing emergency budget amendments. We explain what families can expect in February, how the district is trying to rebuild trust, and what went wrong in the first place. Finally, Glacier National Park is set to receive more than $4 million in project funding from the Glacier National Park Conservancy — supporting everything from student-built housing and dark-sky programs to wildlife research, trail work and whitebark pine restoration. We break down where the money is going and what it means as the park faces potential federal budget cuts.Read more from this week's stories: Mexican man who launched a high-speed chase in Kalispell pleads guilty to illegal reentryConservancy now supports 25% of Glacier National Park's budgetSomers School District to recoup lost tax dollars after data entry errorA big thank you to our headline sponsor for the News Now podcast, Loren's Auto Repair! Thanks to our Partners, NAPA Auto Care and NAPA TRACS Watch Full Video Episode In this fireside conversation, Joe Hanson of Gordie's Auto and Tire shares how a clear purpose—“Helping people do life”—guides every part of the business. This mission shapes both the customer experience and the culture within the shop, ensuring the team feels supported, valued, and equipped to build meaningful careers. Joe walks through the realities of growing the business, from navigating permits and environmental requirements to expanding fleet services and managing tire sales intentionally. Issues such as leadership team dynamics, marketing, and phone call audits are management problems—they are never permanently "fixed," but instead require continuous coaching and management. He also emphasizes the importance of communication, setting clear expectations, and educating customers about the complexity of modern testing and ADAS calibration—not just “plugging in a scanner.” Joe remains committed to the work for as long as it's meaningful—and rooted in helping people, not just chasing revenue. When leadership breaks down, processes fall apart fast. But rebuilding doesn't start with systems. It starts with people. In this episode of Maximum Octane, Kim Hickey and Jason Patel sit down with Chris Darmody, General Manager at Graham Auto Repair, to explore what it takes to turn around a struggling organization. When Chris joined the shop, leadership gaps, inconsistent processes, and fading accountability had left the team adrift. Instead of walking away, he leaned into the fire.Drawing on 22 years of experience in the automotive industry, Chris shares how he reignited the culture at Graham by focusing on empowerment, accountability, and communication. He explains how creating structure through SOPs, while keeping the shop's personality intact, rebuilt trust and consistency, and why real empowerment means giving people both the freedom and the authority to lead. Kim and Jason also draw powerful parallels between diagnosing car issues and diagnosing leadership problems, showing how the same mindset of testing, learning, and refining can transform both people and performance.Tune in to episode 129 of Maximum Octane if you've ever inherited a broken team, felt stuck in the weeds, or wondered how to rebuild trust after disruption. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Ted Aukerman, author of the book A Farmboy, a Tom Boy, Jesus Freaks, and Divine Appointments. Ted was born in Ohio and moved to Oklahoma with his parents in 1978. He lives in Muskogee, OK, with his wife, Patti, his sweetheart of 38 years. They have three children and six grandchildren. With one on the way!   His first novel published in 2024, is actually four shorter works that were combined to make the Skips Sparks Anthology, A Farm Boy, a Tomboy, Jesus Freaks and Divine Appointments.   Ted is a singer-songwriter writing songs for Aukrocket Records. His albums are available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and Reverbnation to name a few. Movie fans will appreciate his contributions to the soundtrack of God, Where Are You? directed by De Miller from Lazarus Filmworks. Ted produces music and podcasts in his studio, Ted's Auto Repair. His podcast Tales From The Road of Life is available on many platforms. Also, on Reverbnation is music from Skip Sparks, one of his characters and Ted's alter ego.   In my book review, I stated A Farmboy, A Tomboy, Jesus Freaks, and Divine Appointments is a Christian historical fiction filled with music, laughter, hard times, and saving grace. I thoroughly enjoyed Ted's characters, all of whom had problems, issues, disappointments, and poor decisions - and yet, they also had kindness, love, determination, and a need for something more than the world seemed ready to offer.   This is a meandering story where you get to meet the characters, remeet them at earlier and later points in their lives, and finally see how they all come together, each touching the other. I enjoyed the music and poetry sprinkled throughout the pages, as well as watching characters go from dark places to places filled with light and hope.   If you want a book that takes you on a journey, then this is the book for you!   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   Join the Novels N Latte Book Club community to discuss this and other books with like-minded readers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3576519880426290   You can follow Author Ted Aukerman FB: @Ted Aukerman https://www.reverbnation.com/tedaukerman https://www.reverbnation.com/skipsparks https://tedaukerman.podbean.com/   Purchase A Farmboy, a Tom Boy, Jesus Freaks, and Divine Appointments on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/44TYoOO Ebook: https://amzn.to/3GOqNhm   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors?
