On Wednesday, the Democratic-controlled House passed a broad set of gun-control measures, largely along party lines, making it a nonstarter in the evenly split Senate. The bill, called the Protecting Our Kids Act and intended to reduce gun violence, would raise the age for purchasing semiautomatic rifles and shotguns to 21 from 18. On Thursday, after nearly a year of investigation and more than 1,000 interviews, the House Jan. 6, 2021 committee held its first prime-time public hearing on the 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol and the events leading up to it. Meanwhile, U.S. consumer inflation hit 8.6% in May - its highest level in more than four decades, as surging energy and food costs pushed prices higher, with little indication of when the upward trend could ease. Public Strategies' Howard Schweitzer, Mark Alderman, Patrick Martin, and Towner French discuss the proposed legislation and key takeaways from the hearing, and ponder how the burden of inflation on the Biden Administration, along with the President's falling approval ratings and Americans' pessimism about the economy and the nation's political system, may spell trouble for Democrats in the midterm elections later this fall.

In the long awaited Episode 49, Doc digs into recent gun control measures that passed the House of Representatives in early June: HR7910, "Protecting Our Kids Act" and HR2377 "Federal Extreme Risk Protection Order Act of 2022". These two pieces of legislation would accomplish nothing to control gun crime and mass shootings in America, but would continue to slowly chip away at our right to bear arms and preserve liberty and freedom in America. And as always, with every piece of gun legislation, the arguments slide right past the defense of tyranny argument. In the Grind this Episode, Doc reviews 68Whiskey from Liberty Beans Coffee out of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The House on Wednesday passed a sweeping gun reform bill that would raise the minimum age to purchase an assault rifle in the U.S. from 18 to 21, even though the legislation doesn't stand much of a chance of passing in the Senate. The bill, called the Protecting Our Kids Act, would also bar the sale of large-capacity magazines and institute new rules that dictate proper at-home gun storage. The chamber approved it in a 223-204 vote. The House earlier voted by a 228 to 199 margin to include the purchasing age provision — under heavy scrutiny after two recent massacres carried out by 18-year-olds — in the broader bill. Democrats backed the proposal in a mostly partly line vote, but it drew a small group of Republican support. Another component of the legislation, called the Untraceable Firearms Act, would bolster regulations around so-called ghost guns, or those firearms without a serial number. It is far more difficult for law enforcement to track ownership and possession of firearms that lack serial numbers. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The unhinged criminals in Washington DC have made it plain that they stop at nothing, to include ignoring the US Constitution and the Courts, in order to disarm the lawful-abiding. One political criminal went so far as to refer to Constitutional Rights as “bullsh*t”. [00:30] Joebama's Economic Plan Is Working (13 minutes)The Biden Administration has forced America into an economic catastrophe. United States Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen admitted that she was wrong in suggesting last year that inflation would be manageable. Now, Joe Biden's energy department is predicting that gas will remain above $4 for the remainder of the year. When Fox News journalist Peter Doocy confronted White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre over the failing American economy, Jean-Pierre replied, “[T]he president's economic plan, as we see it, is working.” [13:35] Biden's Gun Grab (8 minutes)Mr. Biden gave a primetime address last night about gun violence in America, repeating that we must “do something” about the mass shootings. “This isn't about taking away anyone's rights,” he said. “It's about protecting children.” Under the Protecting Our Kids Act, Democrats hope to abolish Second Amendment rights of ordinary, law-abiding U.S. citizens. [21:25] Voter Fraud in Yuma County (8 minutes)The Associated Press reported yesterday on a voter fraud scandal in Yuma County, Arizona, where a woman admitted she participated in an organized, Democrat-run ballot harvesting scheme. Though largely unreported, ballot trafficking in Yuma county and elsewhere in the U.S. is widely practiced, and it was a major weapon Democrats used in stealing the 2020 U.S. election, as Dinesh D'Souza proved in his documentary 2,000 Mules. In the wake of multiple mass shootings, a conversation in Washington is underway about what kind of gun control laws can be passed. This week, the House Judiciary Committee will have an emergency session to discuss a legislation package known as the ‘Protecting Our Kids Act.' This gun legislation aims to tackle many issues that have been raised with gun purchasing and ownership, however it awaits a difficult path forward in the Senate. Former NYPD Commissioner and Guardian Group CEO Ray Kelly joins the Rundown to discuss what kind of action on gun laws already has wide bipartisan support, the importance of addressing mental health issues and his belief that raising the gun purchasing age limit could be a valuable tool in addition to other solutions. With inflation being a primary concern for Americans, many are pointing fingers at President Biden for record-high gas prices. Despite attempts to direct blame to Russian President Vladimir Putin, many in the White House are struggling to shield Americans from higher prices while combating his low approval rating. Kellyanne Conway managed Donald Trump's campaign back in 2016 and became a counselor to him once he became president. She joins the Rundown to discuss her time working in the White House with her memoir, Here's The Deal, what she thinks of President Biden's job performance so far, and why she believes a rematch may occur in the 2024 presidential election.
