This week we are discussing The Dead Files “Absorbed” (Season 11 Episode 12) which aired September 26, 2019.We got another Dream Property here, as well as a vortex. This one is a horse farm on land that is trying to swallow one of the owners. We learn of a religious zealot, the Hermit on Holy Hill, and some sketchy history that makes no damn sense. We also talked about our recent dreams and offer tips on what to do if you get stuck in quicksand. So, grab your sunflower heater, and join us where… The Activity Continues. The Activity Continues is a paranormal podcast where soul friends, Amy, Megan, and AP chat about true crime, ghost stories, hauntings, dreams, and other paranormal stuff including the TV show, The Dead Files. Our recaps are full of reoccurring jokes about reoccurring tropes. We also occasionally do interviews with people from the paranormal world, with the goal of learning from others. We think you'll really benefit from the things these people have to say. Sometimes we get a little scientific. We enjoy trying to come up with possible explanations for some of the things that the clients experience. But this by no means indicates that we do not believe the clients or are invalidating their experiences. We do believe. This episode was recorded on February 10, 2025 and released on March 27, 2025. Chapter Markers00:00:00 Intro00:00:39 Hello!00:01:37 Content Warning & Housekeeping00:02:31 Segment One – The Set Up00:39:15 Segment Two – Diggin' Tru (Ad break)01:02:26 Segment Three – The Reveal01:17:58 Next week01:18:09 Outro/Disclaimer Episode links:Holy Hill Basilica: https://www.holyhill.com/basilica/history/35-chapters/66-chapter-2 The Dead Files Official Podcast: https://pod.link/1642377102But this episode doesn't appear to be on there. Disclaimer:This podcast is in no way affiliated with Warner Brothers, HBOMax, the Travel Channel, Painless TV, or the TV show The Dead Files or any of its cast or crew. In our first week back in the Psalms for the summer, we will explore the big picture of the Psalms as a 5-movement cantata with a connected theme. We will spend time digging into Psalm 15, a short Psalm written by David that asks a very important question and packs a big punch to our pride. In these 5 verses, we will explore what the ideal worshipper looks like, answer the question posed in the sermon title and see if we measure up (spoiler alert, we don't!). Lastly, we will seek to understand how it connects us to the Godman, Jesus.

The Cabin is presented by the Wisconsin Counties Association and this week we're featuring Clark County; https://www.wicounties.org/counties/clark-county/The Cabin is also presented by Group Health Trust: www.wcaght.org  Campfire Conversation: Eric, Ana, and Jake discuss a variety of places to head in Wisconsin if you're in the mood for a solo trip, and they each go solo in doing so. Ana begins with retreats - always a good choice for a solo venture - including the Wild Rice Retreat in Bayfield, The Christine Center in Clark County, Holy Hill in Washington County, and Holy Wisdom near Middleton. Spas and other nice resorts for good getaways begin to factor in as well, including Blue Harbor in Sheboygan, the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva as well as The Abbey nearby in Fontana, The Edgewater in Madison, and the Sundara Spa in Wisconsin Dells. They're a little different from the retreats; as Anna noted, "Don't go to Holy Hill if you're wanting a massage or a pedicure." With camping, Ana notes Peaceful Pines and the Wild Eagle Lodge in Eagle River; camping in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, where some serious space between you and other people can be found; plus several other lodges. State Recreation Areas and Parks offer great places for solo stays and experiences, too, and that gets covered from several perspectives. A nice solo road trip can help you unwind while you explore, we note good examples in Wisconsin's five designated scenic byways, including the Great River Road, the Lower Wisconsin River Road, the Door County Caoastal Byway, and the Lake Superior Scenic Byway. They offer beauty on the road and great stops along the way, whether or not you have others along for the ride. Rustic Roads offer even more peace and quiet. Jake offers some events to explore on your own, from home shows to the upcoming Midwest Gaming Classic in Milwaukee or the Dairy State Beer & Cheese Festival coming up in Kenosha. There's even a cool tech conference coming up, and he fills you in. In this bonus episode, Ana and Eric greet you from West Bend with several friends: Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann, West Bend Mayor Joel Ongert, and Kewaskum Village President Fuzz Martin. Between all five, the topics run the gamut to every corner of Washington County and expand on the recent Discover Wisconsin episode on Washington County, which was called "Love Your Neighbor." All corners of Washington County get some love from the standpoint of visitors, residents, and businesses. West Bend, the county seat, has a charming and vibrant downtown with Main Street freshly repaved, re-scaped, and ready for great shopping, dining, and entertainment with the Historic Bend Theater welcoming regional and national acts in its 1920s-era-but-updated venue. Across the Milwaukee River you can take in some amazing art at the MOWA - Museum of Wisconsin Art and places like The Volunteer Center and The Hub, its associated coffee shop, were showcased in the recent Discover Wisconsin episode. West Bend also has Riverside Brewing, historic buildings, the Eisenbahn Trail for biking and hiking, and Regner Park, which hosts everything from summer concerts to the beautiful holiday lights in winter. Kewaskum is a prime example of Washington County's beautiful villages, and Village Prez Fuzz Martin dives into activities to enjoy from hunting for antiques to hitting the slopes and Sunburst Ski Hill, which also boasts the largest tubing park in the world with nearly 50 lanes! Nearby in Slinger, Little Switzerland is another popular area for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. Since Washington County straddles the Kettle Moraine region, the topography is beautiful for any activity, and places like the Pike Lake Unit of Kettle Moraine State Forest next to Hartford are ideal for enjoying it to the fullest. You can stop at Aspen Sky Winery in Slinger after (or, heck, before) to imbibe if that would complement your day. Perched atop the highest point in southeastern Wisconsin, Holy Hill Basilica and National Shrine draws visitors from around the world. Whether for religious pilgrimage, to marvel and its beautiful architecture, take in the views, or find treasures at the Holy Hill Art Fair, Holy Hill is an incredible place to visit. You can get beautiful views of Holy Hill from the golf course, too. Erin Hills is a nationally renown course in the Town of Erin; home to the 2017 U.S. Open, the course follows the natural landscape and offers views of Holy Hill. Kettle Hills is another highly-rated golf course on the other side of Holy Hill. Washington County Golf Course outside Hartford ranks among the top 50 municipal courses in the United States, while other options include Hon-E-Kor in Kewaskum, Scenic View in Slinger, and several in West Bend.Hartford, on the western edge of Washington County, offers up its own fun downtown which includes the Wisconsin Automotive Museum, a car-themed wonderful ice cream shop called Scoop de Ville, The Mineshaft restaurant which served as Wisconsin's largest for a long time, plus tons of great shops of all kinds. The city's architecture features classic buildings, some crowned with pagodas. Germantown is the largest village in the county, literally across the street from Milwaukee on the southeast. The village has historic sites like Dheinsville and Freistadt that bring you back to 19th century settlements and some newer breweries and wineries. They include Old Germantown, a new brewery in a farmstead that serves up classic craft brews and wood-fired pizzas, 1840 Brewing, which was featured in the show, and Apple Works Winery, a winery that has grown out of an orchard at Behnke Estates. Germantown is a growing bedroom community but they still have plenty of farms, too. You can explore other farms nearby that offer family fun, including Basse's Taste of Country in Colgate and Peck & Bushel Fruit Company in Colgate. This is why we say Washington County has surprises around every corner. Learn more here; https://bit.ly/3TSFYY4   Campfire Conversation: Eric and Ana discuss Farm Dining, where the farm that produces the food also presents the meal, primarily using ingredients from their own farm while also sourcing other ingredients and dishes as locally as possible. Many farms are working in conjunction to present these Farm Dinners, and some of the best are discussed here. Places include Inn Serendipity Farm in Browntown; Campo di Bella in Mount Horeb; Hidden Acres Farm in Sister Bay; Stoney Acres Farm in Athens; The Borner Farm Project and Nesbitt's Nursery & Orchard, both near Prescott; The Stone Barn in Nelson; Suncrest Gardens Farm in Cochrane; Sprouting Acres Farm in Cambridge; and North Star Homestead Farm near Hayward. Some unique features of each farm are noted, including the experience Eric had when filming such a meal at Meuer Farm in Calumet County and how art fairs and barn dances are brought into the experience at Holy Hill Art Farm in Hubertus. In one case, a James Beard Award semifinalist chef from Milwaukee, Dave Swanson, leaves his Milwaukee restaurant called Braise to conduct classes and cook meals on farms in special dinners that also offer farm tours, in a sense a reversal of farm-to-table - but the meal always uses the farm itself as the primary source for the elements of the three-course meal. Resources are available online for more too, including WIFarmToTable.com. We also went "Behind the Scenes" with producer Jessica Voukoun to preview the new Discover Wisconsin episode on Washington County, which airs and streams this coming weekend, September 16-17, and will be released on the Discover Wisconsin app Wednesday.Inside SponsorsBest Western - https://bit.ly/3zCCK3f  Ho Chunk - https://bit.ly/3l2Cfru   NAMI Walks - https://bit.ly/3KSk04N

Eric shares the bad luck of the Lady Elgin, a tragic event in Lake Michigan that dramatically altered the early Irish community in Milwaukee. Ana recounted some historic facts about Irish immigration to Wisconsin along with lucky & unlucky stories provided by staff from Discover Mediaworks. Communities that highlight Irish heritage and St. Patrick's Day are noted, including Milwaukee and La Crosse – which each host major Irish festivals in the summer – along with the Town of Erin (plus Holy Hill and Erin Hills Golf), New London (which becomes “New Dublin” for St. Patrick's) and even the tiny town of Luck, Wisconsin (home to a very recent lottery winner.) The Cabin also welcomes Blake Johnston from Milwaukee's County Clare, an Irish Pub and Inn that welcomes travelers from all over. With Blake, Eric, Ana, and Logan discuss more Irish lore, Celtic languages, unique elements of Irish history from both Ireland and Wisconsin, the parades to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, and the most authentic Irish food and beverage – including the story behind corned beef. In all, it's a good look at Irish heritage in Wisconsin. Inside SponsorsJolly Good Soda: https://bit.ly/3TSFYY4Marshfield Clinic; All of Us Research Program; https://bit.ly/3Wj6pYj

The inventions, industrial heritage and redevelopments of Kenosha and Racine began the discussion. Topics ranged from Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural marvels in Racine, including Wingspread, to museums and lighthouses along the Lake Michigan shores. Ana got the update on the Peeps Competition at the Racine Art Museum. We moved inland to discuss unique places to visit including the Mars Cheese Castle and the Bong Recreation Area. The conversation continued to cover Burlington – in part for chocolate and their famous “Liar's Club” - and the nearby towns of Waterford and Rochester. From there, we worked clockwise into Walworth County with the draw of Lake Geneva and the incredible beauty and bevy of things to do and see around Geneva Lake, the ski hills at Alpine Valley and Grand Geneva, Elkhorn and the productive farms, orchards, and breweries nearby. The East Troy Railroad, which runs on the original interurban line that extended into Milwaukee, still runs to Mukwonago in Waukesha County and it's a great experience for kids and grown-ups alike. We then proceeded to cover Waukesha County, which combines dynamic cities and suburbs with the natural appeal of Kettle Moraine and numerous glacial lakes. Waukesha itself is vibrant and is getting increasingly known as “Guitar Town” since Les Paul, inventor of the electric guitar and multi-track recording, hailed from Waukesha. You can enjoy everything from history at Old World Wisconsin in Eagle to professional baseball with the Lake Country Dock Hounds in Oconomowoc. The 262 also covers areas north into Washington County, including Hartford with its automotive history, museums, and architecture; West Bend with its appliance manufacturing history and popular downtown; and Holy Hill, a national shrine that draws people from around the world. Finally, we head east into Ozaukee County, from Mequon up through Port Washington and Cedarburg. The shoreline of Lake Michigan north of Milwaukee's 414 area is quite different from south of Milwaukee, and we discuss how – and why. The accessible parklands along Lake Michigan in Ozaukee County include Lion's Den Gorge County Park and Harrington Beach State Park. Port Washington itself is a charming town with a New England feel, famous for fishing and its marine, lighthouses, and more. All these areas offer great history, museums, breweries, wineries, and unique spots to enjoy. We list and cover many of them by topic towards the end of the conversation, spreading the love all around “the 262.” Inside SponsorsBest Western: https://bit.ly/3zCCK3fMarshfield Clinic; All of Us Research Program; https://bit.ly/3Wj6pYj

From the title we know that David is the writer of this Psalm. It is generally believed that he wrote it shortly after the ark of the covenant was brought back to Jerusalem, the Holy Hill of Zion. Remember the ark of the covenant was captured by the Philistines when Eli was the priest and judge over Israel (1 Samuel 4:11). When the Philistines sent it back, it eventually ended up in the house of Abinadab (2 Samuel 6:3). When David became king, he brought the ark back to Jerusalem and set up the tabernacle (2 Samuel 6). For the nation of Israel, the ark of the covenant was the dwelling place of Jehovah in the midst of His people. This is where God's glory and presence would make itself manifest to the people of God. David set up a tent, a tabernacle for the ark and the altar of God on the Holy Hill of Mt. Zion. In verse 1, David asked the question concerning who could enjoy the presence of the Lord. Then in the following 4 verses, he answers his own question. I read this Psalm shortly after I became a believer as a 19-year-old teenager. When I read the last verse, “He who does these things shall never be moved”, I was immediately interested in what “these things” were. I had a great desire to live a faithful and consistent Christian life and did not want to fall back into my “old” ways of living in the world. So, this is one of the first Psalms that I took the time to memorize. The Jewish rabbis taught that there were 613 commandments for the Jewish people to obey if they wanted to be righteous, but Psalm 15 brings that number down to eleven. Isaiah 33:15-16 gives six requirements to obey, and Micah 6:8 lists three. But Habakkuk 2:4 names but one which is faith. Because only by faith in Jesus Christ can you have your sins forgiven and be welcomed into the Lord's presence (John 14:6; Rom. 1:7; Gal. 3:11; Heb. 10:38). The psalm says nothing about offering sacrifices, for spiritual Israelites knew that it was their personal faith that brought them salvation (Mark 12:28-34). It's important to note that Psalm 15 is not a prescription for being saved but a description of how saved people ought to live if they want to please God and fellowship with Him. The list contains both positive and negative qualities, and these qualities must be present in all of life at all times. Believers who would fellowship intimately with God must follow David's example and meet three personal requirements. The first is to seek God's presence (v. 1). The second is to obey God's precepts (vv. 2-5a). And the third is to trust God's promise (v. 5c). David asked this question because he loved the house of the Lord (26:8; 27:3-5; 65:4) and desired in his heart to know God better and fellowship with Him in a deeper way. The priests could come and go in the house of the Lord, but David, though he was king, had to keep his distance. "Abide" means "to sojourn as a stranger," while "dwell" suggests a permanent residential status, but here the verbs are probably synonymous. Knowing about eastern hospitality, David wanted to enjoy the benefits of being a resident in God's house—enjoying God's fellowship, God's protection, and God's provision. The word "dwell" in the Hebrew is shakan and gives us the word shekineh, referring to the presence (dwelling) of God's glory in the sanctuary (Ex. 25:8; see also 29:46; 1 Chron. 22:19; Pss. 20:2; 78:69; 150:1). David's great desire was to be with God in heaven and dwell in His house forever (23:6; 61:4), for God is our eternal home (90:1). Believers today can enjoy intimate fellowship with God through Jesus Christ (John 14:19-31; Heb. 10:19-25). It is my prayer as we look at this Psalm that this will be the desire of your heart too! God Bless!
