Send us Fan MailPlaywright William A. Smith streamed into Playwright's Spotlight to talk about the recent release of his app The Playwright's Desk and its features to assist in the management of the playwriting business. It's a fascinating resource that will help playwrights of all levels looking to track their submissions as well as streamline the process. We also discuss his other apps The Literary Desk, designed for theatre companies, and The Drama Desk, designed for drama teachers in the K-12 education system. We delve into the journey of his playwriting and how it evolved while building a theatre company from the ground up, taking leaps, and wearing many hats. We discuss the lessons in under and overwriting as a novice, overcoming a gap in playwriting and writing disappointing ending, and the point he began submitting his work to outside entities. We discuss the importance of building a support system, unnecessary requests when submitting, finding opportunities, and working with long time collaborators. This is a very heartwarming, inspirational, and motivating conversation, and Bill's charm shines through the entire interview. Enjoy.William A. (This podcast was previously published on May 22, 2021) Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney ... The shepherd watches over the flock of sheep. He sees the sheep eating away at the grass of the pasture and the shepherd knows they will consume the pasture in a short time and the shepherd begins to look for new grasslands where there will be plenty of food and water for the sheep. God watches over us this way and makes provision for us. God provided for Elisha the prophet. 2 Kings 4:8-11 And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread. 9 And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually. 10 Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither. 11 And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there. Everything was provided for him. In 2018, my heart changed on several things. I had a big house in Texas and I no longer wanted a big house. I wanted one room with all my stuff around me. (God was preparing me for a change that was coming very soon.) Also I realized I was not going to be able to live alone as I had done before. (I was 81.) On December 6, 2018, I fell at my house in Texas. As the ambulance workers rolled me past my front door to take me to hospital, I heard from God: "You'll never see this house again." God had prepared everything for me to move to another pasture where I would be cared for. All I had to do is to go through each door as it opened for me! God cares for us as that good shepherd cares for his own sheep.

As the night grows quiet and many of us prepare to rest, we pause together and place the end of this day into the hands of Jesus. Psalm 4:8 (NIV) says: “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalm 91 reminds us that those who dwell in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. As we settle into the quiet hours of the night, we remember that God's protection surrounds us and His presence remains near. Lord Jesus, as we come to the end of this day, we bring every thought and every concern before You. Where our minds are busy or restless, bring calm and stillness. Where there are worries about tomorrow, help us place them into Your hands. Let Your peace settle over our homes tonight. Guard our families and protect those we love. Help us release the weight of this day and rest knowing that You are watching over us. Jesús, danos descanso esta noche y llena nuestros corazones con Tu paz. Jesus, dá-nos descanso nesta noite e enche os nossos corações com a Tua paz. Lord, thank You for being with us through every moment of this day. As we lie down tonight, let Your peace surround us and let our rest be secure in Your care. Send us your feedback — we're listeningPsalm 4:8 (NIV) “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for You alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Matthew 11:28 (NIV) “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Live from London, England — DailyPrayer.uk Ao vivo de Londres para Belo Horizonte (Brasil) • Lisboa (Portugal) • Huambo (Angola) • Pemba (Moçambique) • Los Angeles (Estados Unidos) última hora • luz que guia • esperança viva • coragem renovada final hour • guiding light • living hope • renewed courage Jesus, as this final hour settles around me, I bring the last emotions of this day into Your hands. The noise has faded, the responsibilities have paused, and the world has softened into stillness. You invite me to come as I am — weary, burdened, stretched, hopeful, unsure — and You meet me with rest that settles deeper than anything I could create on my own. Senhor Jesus, acalma o meu coração nesta última hora. Let Your peace gather gently over the places where tension still lingers. Tonight, remind me that in peace I can lie down and sleep, because You alone make me dwell in safety. It is not my strength that carries me through these hours — it is Your presence. You lift the weight my heart has held, and You breathe ease into the corners of my mind where worry tried to take root. Dá-me descanso profundo e guia o meu espírito enquanto a noite termina. Let Your nearness become the shelter that surrounds every fragile part of me. Jesus, come close to the areas that still feel unsettled. Speak quietness into the thoughts that try to rise again. Bring warmth to the moments that felt cold, healing to the places that felt bruised, and clarity to anything that feels tangled inside me. Let Your love settle into my breathing and Your strength wrap itself around my spirit. As this day closes, let restoration rise gently, like a slow dawn moving inside my chest even before morning arrives. And now, Jesus, as I prepare to rest, keep Matthew 11:28 and Psalm 4:8 over me — the invitation to come, the promise of rest, the assurance of safety. Guard my dreams. Guide my inner world. Let my spirit lie down under the covering of Your peace. Hold me through the night and lead me into tomorrow with renewed courage, steady hope, and a heart anchored in Your love. The provided text is an excerpt from a sermon titled "Peace” which focuses on the theme of peace during the Advent season. The speaker uses Psalm 23:2 ("He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.") as the central biblical text to illustrate how the guidance of the Shepherd (God) produces the blessing of peace. This peace is explored through three key points: I can have peace because my needs are met, my mind is content, and my soul is fed. The sermon incorporates personal anecdotes, contrasts the world's chaos with divine rest, and emphasizes that spiritual nourishment is essential for maintaining peace amidst life's struggles.Support the showThanks for listening! An Inspiring 31-Day Devotional In The Secret of a Happy Day, J. Wilbur Chapman offers a heartfelt exploration of the timeless comfort found in Psalm 23. This 31-day devotional illuminates the profound truths and enduring promises within David's ancient song, revealing its relevance and power to uplift souls regardless of life's circumstances. Chapman, with the wisdom of a seasoned pastor, invites readers on a daily journey through "The Shepherd's Song," to a place where every need is met, fear is dispelled, and eternal goodness and mercy are assured. Through an intimate introduction and thoughtful breakdown, Chapman delves into the six divisions of the psalm — Possession, Position, Promise, Progress, Provision, and Prospects — each representing a facet of the Christian's walk with the Good Shepherd. Readers are encouraged to reflect on the Lord's shepherding presence that guides through green pastures, restores the soul, and offers comfort even in the darkest valleys. The readings of The Secret of a Happy Day are an invitation to experience the deep and personal love of God anew. As you journey through each day with Chapman, let the truths of Psalm 23 transform your understanding of God's presence in your life and lead you into a deeper, more joyous relationship with Him. Whether standing beside the grave of buried hopes or basking in the sunshine of God's love, this book promises to be a source of comfort, strength, and inspiration, helping you to live out the serene trust and unshakeable peace that David himself experienced.
