In this episode, with absolutely no preparation or knowledge of the game against Philly, Jon attempts to talk intelligently about the team's performance. Ryan and Evan assemble a myriad of trivia questions to see if Jon can guess the outcome of the game, and then once the result is revealed, they all celebrate an ASTOUNDING win by the boys in gold. Much praise is heaped on the legend Hany Mukhtar as well as young Johnny Long Sleeves and the rock of NSC, Patrick Yazbek. And of course, since it was Philly, there is much lamenting of the refs and all the missing fouls from the game. The boys celebrate the winning penalty kick by highlighting the wonder of McKay's Used Books and Music, and they also discuss how amazing the fans were at the Philly game, and how it was the crowd that made the real difference. Then, they dust off the crystal balls to make predictions for the upcoming Open Cup game versus DC and a serious challenge looming with Miami. And they drink beer.

The guys open up the pod discussing the long weekend and then get on to the nights beers. The Loons come from behind victory over STL in the US Open Cup is talked about next, which included the goals & the wonder that is Anthony Makanich. They then talk about the Loons draw against Austin, and what a boring game it really was, until the ref got involved at the end with a flurry of yellow cards. Then it's on to some MN soccer history, and they finish the episode with a story about the racing of the Wienermobiles at the Indy 500.
Last week started well for the Fire, with a dominant 4-1 win on the road against Charlotte FC powered by two goals and an assist for Brian Gutierrez. It ended Sunday with a 1-0 lead that turned into a 3-1 loss to NYCFC at Yankee Stadium in large part due to Gutierrez elbowing an opponent in the face and being sent off. This will be the second time he's been suspended this season, and by the end of the suspension he will have missed seven matches due to either suspension, injury or national team duty. What do we make of the enigma that is Guti? Also, the Fire advanced in the Open Cup and we now know their path to a potential record breaking fifth title. Can they do it? Should it be prioritized over the league? Alex is joined by Kiril Anastasov of Chicago Sports Nation for all that and more.
