Keri-anne Payne is a marathon open water swimmer who recently competed in the Rio 2016 Olympics. She is a two-time 10-kilometre open water world champion, and an Olympic silver medallist. In this episode we’ll look at some of the technicalities of swimming in an event that takes around 2 hours! Keri-ann explains how she prevents boredom, the ingenuous methods of fuelling out in the middle of the sea, overcoming jelly legs and jelly fish! You’ll hear some gossip from the Olympic village including the 5am parties, the 45 minute ques for free McDonald's, why it’s a bit like freshers week and star-spotting Usain Bolt. Keri-anne also shares how she was able to get through plateaus, overcome setbacks and key lessons she’s learned from competing at the highest level in world sport. FFF 070: An Olympian’s Insight Into Competing At The Rio 2016 Olympics - with Keri-anne Payne is a post from: Food For Fitness
The end is here! The final Off The Podium for the Rio Olympics will take you through all the highlights, lowlights and everything else of the final day of competition as well as the closing ceremony and looking back at all the best bits of the last 16 days and 18 episodes! Thomas Bach would be proud...
A fairly uneventful day for both Australia and Canada means we can talk more about the great Australian/Canadian moguls skier in Dale Begg-Smith and look ahead to the closing ceremony and what giant inflatable items Tokyo will have on display ahead of the 2020 games.
Today is all about the new queen of the world, and the athlete we crowned as a future star on day 1 of this podcast CHLOE ESPOSITO as we celebrate Modern Pentathlon becoming Australia's new national sport.
Another episode where all we basically talk about is Usain Bolt and Ryan Lochte. One has gotten better, the other has gotten worse. Which order do you think that's in? Ben also discovers a new favourite sport, Colin discovers Canada are pretty awesome at the Summer Olympics and those epic fan messages keep coming.
With no medals and no Colin we bring you our shortest episode yet, which although may sound like a bad thing actually really isn't as it's always fun, right? We talk up basketball, talk down wrestling, cry over no sailing happening and discover the most boring Canadian athlete so far. Get clicking and get listening!
Colin is back, the golds are back and most importantly Off The Podium is back to talk about all the fun times and events from another day of exciting Olympic action! Who knew the Canadians could jump so high? Well, Colin did, but also who knew once again it was up to the sailors to save Australia! There is so much stuff to talk about that even we couldn't choke in a quarter final!
No medals means nothing to talk about right? Not true! Jarrod stars with the 'joke of the Olympics' and also discusses why people are throwing the Rio mascot at competitors. Ben also gets an opportunity to snapchat one of his future wives and we try to work out what the hell wrestling is.

Today can be summed up by two people: Usain Bolt and Ryan Locthe. Do you need to anything else that happens on the show today? Probably not. That'll do until you click below to listen. You're welcome.
Another day, another podcast as we celebrate the return of that gold colour to Australia and the return of the bronze colour to Canada! Jarrod talks down Mo Farah falling and winning while Colin jumps in for a brief appearance and talks it up (go figure). We talk more about pulling a Campbell and decide to declare the opposite as 'pulling an Anna'. While we also get too excited for the prospect of the start of synchronized swimming and discover how amazing Finland is at weightlifting.
A full team once again at Off The Podium as Colin returns to celebrate ANOTHER Canadian gold medal and Ben and Jarrod talk up why so many Australian athletes are pulling a Campbell. There is also the start of the athletics and working out whether distance running is enjoyable or not, as well as going over why Canadian commentary is still making the news and finding out why the AOC has banned us from their Facebook page.
It's Penny Oleksiak day on Off The Podium as we once again do an episode without a Canadian but somehow talk up Canada more than Australia! We also manage to work out just why Australia is so down on ourselves despite winning medals and wish we were more like Fiji when it came to being humble. Jarrod also puts more athletes on the blacklist for returning home while Ben discovers golf is kind of boring to watch and that rowing has some very confusing categories.
An Australian only episode today as we ditch the Canadian (at least for a day) to talk about an exciting golden day 5 of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and green pools. Jarrod explains why he has returned from exile after recovering from Burto costing us Equestrian gold as well as making sure our athletes know that if they don't win gold they aren't welcome back. Meanwhile Ben ensures that Hungary still hate us and gives us his secret to winning swimming gold with a 'whirling willy'. Just another day in the office...
More medals for both Australia and Canada today (well at least A medal for Canada) as Ben and Colin discuss all the events of the fourth day of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. From putting Michael Phelps down a few pegs for being rude to Australian journalists, talking up Hungary as being a very serious nation and discovering several new sports for #FlinFlon28, our sixth episode has it all! Well, except people who want to listen to it for longer than 15 minutes...ahem...
Canada can stand up and rejoice for winning more medals than Australia today as day 3 rolls around. And with no Jarrod on the show today (he is too busy trying to find Richie Porte and Bathorse) both Colin & Ben discuss why Rugby is set to become the new national sport of Canada, discover just what it takes to make a Chinese athlete smile and continue on the push for Flin Flon 2028 (#FlinFlon2028) as well as adding an O to the name of every person in true Aussie style.
Another golden day for Australia (and silver for Canada of course) is talked about as we work out what the hell is happening in Judo and why the crowds decided to boo it, we discover a new super hero horse that will help save the day, learn how to use Google to see the ages of gymnasts as well as keep up the search for Richie Porte and start a new Olympic bid for Canada for 2028.
As day 2 rolls around, the boys go over a golden day for Australian (and a bronzed one for Canada) and talk up the prospects of ending the Olympics now given Australia has clearly won them. We also discover some very exciting new potential team names, glorify the magical sport of archery as well as find out why Canadian swimmers are stoned, find out just out why Britt Elmslie will be marrying Ben in the future and discover what Jarrod is angry about today.
Summer 2016 is off the hook. As the kids would say "It's Lit!" But, it's also boring. There's so much going on, but none of it feels like it matters all that much. Football season is coming soon, but the Hall of Fame Game is a real snoozer. The election is off to a fast start, but that only because Donald Trump is a freaking psychopath. The Olympics start this weekend, but the most intersting thing about RIO 2016 is how much of an unmitigated disaster it might be. So, Matt-Man and Jayman are here to break it all down for you and find the funny in the middle of the crazy. As always we'll e joined by our lovely and talented Canadian Bureau Chief Jame Mapleleaf and the IWS Players. Sure, we'd all rather be lounging around in a hammock on a beach drinking fruity cocktails while snuggling with a Brazilian hottie, but that's just not possible. So, why not do the next best thing and listen to IWS Radio! Phone lines are always open @ 661.244.9852!
The games have begun! Ben, Colin and Jarrod sit down and analyse the opening ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics, bringing you their thoughts on tap dancing 4-year-olds, the message of climate change, the countalicious Thomas Bach and all the information about the amazing country of "Ooiwannatakeya". We also look ahead to what events Canada can make the semi-finals of and what events Australia can win silver in. Get excited!

Barry Guy and Matt Chatterton explore the benefits of golf and rugby sevens being included in the Rio Olympics.
The Olympic Games are expected to exceed $1B in ad sales across platforms as viewers stream on social media, tablets, TV, etc. With the Rio 2016 Olympics spanning across 16 days, viewer streaming will differ from one-and-one events like the Super Bowl, and publishers are leaning on dynamic-ad-insertion (DAI) to capitalize on viewing peaks – open & closing ceremony and popular events such as gymnastics to cater to each platform and monetize the games. Matt Smith of Anvato discusses how DAI will rain ad dollars during the summer Olympics and its value as viewers diversify their viewing platforms. He also talks about how Anvato is bringing 360 Degree Video Capabilities. Guest Info http://www.anvato.com/ https://twitter.com/mattsmith0
