Jesus was the perfect example of what it means to be a minister. As Jesus ministered to others, He set the example we are to follow as ministers. Jesus is our example for ministry. Four ways to follow Jesus’ example of ministry.

The weekly sermon from Alfred Almond Bible Church in Almond, NY
Jesus left Capernaum in Mark 1 and it is recorded that he returned in chapter 2. Interestingly, there is only one event that is recorded in Mark that happened during that interim...Jesus healed the leper. Why did Mark choose to give us this one event? Because it records for us the power of Christ over disease and illustrates his power over sin and its effects. The leper's cry? Lord...only you can make me clean! Christ's response? "I will; be thou clean."
If you have been deprived from any human interaction or touch for a couple of months or years, what would one touch from another person mean to you? What if people pushed you away for some reason, would one person’s touch help you find dignity again? In this message we look at Jesus’ interaction with a man that was deprived of human touch for some time. Could an encounter like this change a life forever?
The answer is, “Yes!” When we ask something of the Lord, based on the promises in His Word, He answers, “Yes!” Religion has taught people otherwise. Our part in the process of receiving is to abide in His Word. Many people don’t receive because they won’t prioritize hearing and doing His Word everyday in their lives.
Christ gives us what we really need Christ is willing to meet our needs. Our Greatest need is to trust God in all things

You are forgiven. You are clean. So enjoy your forgiveness.

We enjoyed another guest preacher this past Sunday, June 18 at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC, from our sister church in Mt. Pleasant. Rev. Ross Hodges, the assistant pastor at Christ Church Presbyterian, preached from Mark 1:40-45. He described the cultural context of leprosy and the compassion of Christ. He challenged us to see that leprosy is a picture of our sin, and we come to Jesus to be cleansed. We cannot save ourselves; we need Jesus.

Screens are everywhere. On our phones, in our bedrooms, in restaurants and even on gas pumps. And we have become addicted to them. In a very real sense, screens are strangling our souls. In this (brief) message, Max Vanderpool lays out some decisions every person living today should make, so that they are better positioned to hear God's voice.

Be drawn into the drama of Mark 1: Lepers were defined by their disease, living alone, dwelling outside, and having no physical contact with anyone. The leper in Mark 1 rushes over to Jesus--urgently, without timidity--into his personal space, threatening Christ with his urgent cry, "Heal me." Jesus was willing to take this man's pollution, his disease, his exile, and his sin. Listen to the whole sermon.
Finishing the fast-paced first chapter of Mark, we find the story of a leper whom Jesus heals completely, possibly requiring for the first time ever the ritual of Leviticus 14 to be performed by the priests! Pastor Steve applies the truths of this story as well as looking at the pictures of Christ found in the law and rituals regarding skin diseases from Leviticus.

Jesus the troublemaker wants to offer us troublemakers healing. Will you, troublemaker, accept the healing and then be the troublemaker God wants you to be?
