Throughout the Gospels, some of Jesus' most powerful moments happened around a table. He taught truth, extended grace, confronted hypocrisy, built relationships, and revealed the heart of God while sharing meals with ordinary people. From dining with sinners to feeding thousands, every meal carried a message. This sermon series, “Guess Who's Coming To Dinner,” Pastor Brad leads us to explore the meals of Jesus and what they teach us about faith, fellowship, forgiveness, humility, and the Kingdom of God. Each week highlights a different scene where Jesus used food and fellowship to transform lives and point people toward salvation. As we gather around these tables, we discover that Jesus still invites people to come near, find grace, and experience true spiritual nourishment. Whether you feel far from God or close to Him, there is always a place at the table with Jesus.

When You Feel Unlovable — God's Love Hasn't Changed  Jeremiah 31:3 “ The Lord appeared to him from far away.  I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued my faithfulness to you.” God loves us with an everlasting love.  Did you know that?  Did you know that there is nothing you can do to lose God's love?  Sometimes I know that we feel unlovable.  Sometimes that's after we have done something that we feel is wrong, and sometimes that's after someone else has done or said something to us.  However, God never stops loving us.  He loved us before we were even born, and His love is everlasting; it never goes away.   I remember hearing a story once, I think it might have been Jeff Cavins, in the Great Adventure Bible Story, but I am not sure.  Anyway, whoever was telling the story was talking about how God does not need anything from us.  This was vastly different from the other gods at the time.  The other gods got more power the more people worshipped them.  They were almost fighting for people to worship them.  Some of them even required human child sacrifices.  However, our God was completely self-sufficient and did not need anything from us.   I remember the person saying that this is the reason that some people turned from those other gods to our God, the one true God.  They turned to God because of His everlasting love.  They turned to God because He loved them just for who they were.  They did not need to do anything to earn that love.  That love was just there.  This was something they had not experienced before.   The next line in the verse is also an important line.  “Therefore, I have continued my faithfulness to you.”  This is important because God is always faithful to His word.  This is something we talked a lot about last week, but I think it is important to touch on it again, as it is amazing.  I think sometimes we may think that God stops loving us when we sin in some way.  Or that he stops answering our prayers when we have sinned against Him.  However, this verse dispels that belief.  God continues His faithfulness to us, even when we mess up.   Look how many times He was faithful to the Israelites after they messed up.  In Matthew 18:21-22, it says, “Then Peter came and said to him, 'Lord, if another member of the church sins against me, how often should I forgive? ' " As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “Not seven times, but, I tell you, seventy-seven times.”  If Jesus is telling us to forgive seventy-seven times, then how much more will our Father in heaven forgive us? There is a song called “Reckless Love” by Cory Asbury.  It is a great song about how amazing God's love is.  The song first talks about how good God has been to him.  The chorus says, Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God.  Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the 99.  And I couldn't earn it, I don't deserve it, still, you give yourself away.”  When he mentions leaving the 99, he is talking about Matthew 18:12-14, when Jesus tells the parable, “What do you think? If a shepherd has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is not the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should be lost.”   God does not want to lose any of his sheep.  He will not stop looking for us when we are lost.  He will not stop loving us and hoping that we turn back to Him.  Then the song goes on to say, “When I was Your foe, still Your love fought for me.  You have been so, so good to me.  When I felt no worth, You paid it all for me.  You have been so, so kind to me.”  This is so true, when we have sinned and pulled away from God, or fractured our relationship with Him, He is still fighting for us and still loving us.  When we don't feel worthy, God is still there doing all He can for us.   This last part of the song is my favorite, and it is a part I think we all need to hear because it is the truth.  “There's no shadow You won't light up, mountain You won't climb up, coming after me.  There's no wall you won't kick down, lie you won't tear down, coming after me.”  There is nothing that God won't do to chase after His children to try and save them.  He gave His only Son on the cross for us.  There is nothing hidden in the darkness that will prevent him from finding you.  There's no wall He won't kick down and lie He won't tear down.   I think I like that part the best because when I think of it, I think of a father searching everywhere for his child.  Have you even seen the movie “Taken” with Liam Neeson?  In the movie, Liam Neeson is a father whose daughter goes to Europe on vacation with a friend.  However, in the movie, his daughter is taken by sex traffickers.  She calls her dad when she sees someone breaking into the house.  Liam is some type of government spy in the movie, and he stops at nothing to get his daughter back.  He does whatever it takes to find her and get her back.  If a mere human will go through all of that to get his daughter back, how much more do you think your Father in heaven will do to get you back?   I know people who have often wondered if they are worth loving.  When I tell them the things I am telling you, they say that they know God feels that way about other people, but they tell me I don't understand what they have done or where they have been.  If you are listening to this and think it is true for some people but not for you, I want you to hear me.  GOD LOVES YOU!!  He loves you right where you are.  You don't have to change in any way for Him to love you.  He loves you perfectly right now, right where you are.  Also, God's love is everlasting.  It never fades.  It is always there, no matter what we do or what happens to us.  Also, God remains faithful to us.  He keeps His promises.  If we are lost, He will come and chase after us and find us.   He will be there for us whenever we decide to turn back to Him.  He will welcome us home with open arms, and he will say to us, “I have loved you with an everlasting love.” Dear heavenly father, I ask that you bless all those listening to this episode today. We thank you for loving us with an everlasting love, with a reckless love that will chase us down and leave the 99 to come and save us. Lord God, we're so very thankful that you love us so much, and even though we can't earn your love and definitely don't deserve your love, you give it to us freely anyway. Lord, I ask that you reach out to anyone who hears this and has trouble believing you could love them. I ask that you surround them with your love, that you rain down love and grace on them.  I ask that you open their minds and hearts to the idea of you loving them just as they are.  Lord, I ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, Amen Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. This is a series of parables (fictional stories with kingdom truth) of the Kingdom of God! In this message, we step into one of the most challenging and transformative teachings of Jesus—His call to love not just those who love us, but even our enemies. In a world that runs on retaliation, division, and keeping score, Jesus invites us into a radically different way of living. He shows us that the Kingdom of God is marked by a love that goes beyond comfort, beyond preference, and beyond what feels natural. It's a love that reflects the very heart of the Father—one who gives grace freely, extends kindness to all, and calls His children to do the same. This isn't just about being nice; it's about becoming whole. Jesus is forming something deeper in us—a love that mirrors heaven and reveals who we truly belong to. Join us as we discover what it means to live with a love that stands out, breaks barriers, and points people back to the heart of God.Text: Matthew 5:42-48For more information about Journey Church, visit: www.journeyinbend.com Find Journey on all social media: @journeyinbend Find Pastor Montell Jordan on social media: @montellmjordanPlease feel free to subscribe and engage! Send us Fan Mail- On-Demand Programme Link - https://mailchi.mp/bb2a7b851246/kairos-centreLove me in five ways: (See my Book - The Art of Loving)Most of us operate out of emotional love. Our love is conditional. Loving self comes first. If you do not love yourself, it is not possible to love someone with the high level of love you think you have for them. It is deception to think that we do love our partner, whilst not really able to say that we love our self. Learn to love yourself first. Individual counselling may be necessary to help you on the journey.Learn to love and then learn the art of practising love. Learn it well and then spend a lifetime discipline, maintaining and perfecting it as your love affair. We know that the English word love is much over used. We use it for loving a meal as we do for loving our partner, the pet or ice cream. Using one word in that manner is a recipe for misunderstanding and certainly lacks precision in what we are trying to express. We can compare that to the way the word love is broken down and used in the Greek language. Historically the Greek language used at least five words precisely and quite distinctly to describe the various facets of love.By looking at each of those different word descriptions we can build up the identifying features of all the components that the word love should contain and demonstrate in all healthy, progressive and fulfilling relationships. Those five words for love are Epithumia, Eros, Phileo, Storge and Agape.Every couple's love life should have all five facets of these aspects of love. Each is distinct, but inter-related and overlap. Each reinforces the other. EPITHUMIA: (The sexual love): Epithumia is a strong desire - of any kind. It is a longing for something or someone. It is to set one's heart or desire upon. It has components of coveting and to lust after. It can be a strong, lustful and physical sexual desire. EROS: (Romance): Eros has been corrupted by the English word “erotic”. Eros is the driver for the romance in the relationship. Sometimes sensual, it is the desire and feeling of wanting to be together and yearning to unite.Eros is romantic, passionate and sentimental. It is the driver which causes lovers to write love poetry, love notes and give pet names to each other. It only keeps working as long as there is reciprocation and we can see benefits.STORGE: (Security): Storge is a most valuable and expensive gift. It is a relationship which will always be there for you, despite being rejected by others; a safe place/haven. It is the need (which we all have) to belong or to be a part of a close knit system with people who care, are loyal and sincere. It is a relationship which provides emotional refuge from a world which can be cold, harsh and hard.PHILEO: (Fellowship/Friendship): Phileo is the love one feels for a cherished friend of either sex. This love is conditional and is reactive to what it sees in the other. It is a love which cherishes and has tender affection for the beloved, but always expects a response. AGAPE: (Unconditional): Agape is the fifth of our five loves. At some point in a relationship, we may be tested harshly indeed by a crisis. Perhaps for a longer period than we could have imagined or expected we have tried to love the unlovable. We are starkly face to face with a situation of “for better or for worse”. Unlovable traits show up in the partner. The toll on you has already been great. Agape is the totally unselfish love that has the capacity to give and keep on giving without a reciprSupport the show

As the final sermon in our Singing While We Wait series, this message turns to Psalm 80 and the practice of singing songs of love when life feels unlovable. Drawing on the language of lament, we are invited into honest prayer marked by vulnerability, trust, and bold petitions before God. Even in seasons of sorrow and silence, this sermon reminds us that deeper transparency leads to deeper revelation, and that God meets us with love precisely in the places we most long to be restored.

What if love—not control—was the driving force behind your leadership? In this thought-provoking conversation, Trevor Timbeck invites you to explore leadership through the lens of “loving as a verb.” Co-author of The Power of Love with Steve Chandler, Trevor explains how viewing love as an action, rather than a static feeling, can transform the way you lead, parent, and connect with others. He shares how a simple question—“What would love do?”—can shift your mindset in moments of frustration, helping you respond with awareness and compassion instead of reaction or control. You'll hear Trevor and Meredith discuss what he calls “emotioning,” a way of understanding emotion as a domain of action rather than a feeling to be managed. Through personal stories of parenting and coaching leaders, Trevor reveals how genuine leadership emerges from acceptance and presence, not authority or demand. His insights challenge conventional thinking about power, control, and influence, offering a refreshing and deeply human perspective on what it means to lead with love. You'll discover: Why love is a powerful verb—not just a feelingHow to shift from controlling to allowing in leadershipWhat “emotioning” means and how it shapes your actionsHow asking “What would love do?” can change any situationWhy true leadership begins with awareness and acceptanceCheck out all the episodesLeave a review on Apple PodcastsConnect with Meredith on LinkedInFollow Meredith on TwitterDownload the free ebook Listen Like a Pro

In this episode of Unwritten, Trevor sits down with Jane Voelker to talk about A priest she barely knew confronted her deepest spiritual conviction, sparking a wild journey toward profound healing.Whether you're someone who is completely stuck in a part of your life with God, or just curious about the movement of the Holy Spirit in the world today, this conversation will offer a reminder that God steps in and changes things when we cannot fix ourselves. What You'll Hear:• Jane's realization that her confessed "weakest point"—wanting to keep people at an arm's distance so they can't hurt her—was incorrect. A priest, who had only spoken to Jane for about five minutes prior to the retreat, told her the truth: her weakest point was believing she was unlovable. The priest had been emphasizing throughout the retreat that knowing one's weakest point is essential because it is exactly where God wants to meet us and where the enemy wants to attack.• The surprising result of her initial prayer following the revelation, where Jane invited God into her feeling of unlovableness. Jane thought God might shame her for being a missionary who felt unworthy of love, or immediately demand a fix, but instead, God just sat there with her in that broken part of her heart for the entire hour of prayer.• The unexpected moment of complete healing that happened months later. While brushing her teeth in a little cabin in West Virginia, Jane caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror and spontaneously thought, "I'm so good and I'm so beautiful," after which she never doubted it again. This healing shows that God stepped in out of love for her to tell her the truth, without her needing to try to fix herself or grasp for anything.Hit follow or subscribe so you don't miss future episodes!

The events of this past week -- in our world, nation, and personal lives -- have reminded us of the destructive power of hate. As followers of Jesus, how should we respond? What Jesus asks us to do is really, really, really hard. He challenges us to overcome hate with love. Ok, but how are we supposed to do that? What does that look like? Those are the questions we'll grapple with this Sunday.

Next week we are back with my 200th episode, we can't even believe it, THANK YOU!  Please enjoy this message wherever it may find you today. Sermon Notes:Jesus said, "What's the big deal if you love people who already love you?" Luke 6:32-35Choosing to love the unlovable… that's the big deal. If someone strikes you on one cheek, offer the other cheek too. Luke 6:29 “When we learn to live out the Scriptures the way Jesus lived out the Scriptures, our lives will begin to reflect his Kingdom way of radical love. This counter cultural life will often require us to do the opposite of our natural instincts—instincts that, left unchecked, will only continue to lead to more of the same polarizing, divisive, relationally messed-up stuff we've been experiencing. If we don't choose the opposite, we'll stay stuck in the same patterns and places we keep finding ourselves.Family conversations will remain stifled or fall silent, crippled by the fear of triggering reactions. Friendships will continue to disintegrate as unacknowledged wrongs and unforgiven wounds destroy trust. The most vulnerable among us will continue to suffer while we look the other way and shrink back from getting involved. We will continue to live in the shallows of spiritual maturity, leaving one church after another in search of a place where everyone thinks just like us. We can choose that way. Or we can choose the opposite way of the Kingdom and follow Jesus.” Tammy Melchein – Choosing the Opposite“If you want to be extraordinary, love your enemies!
