On this episode we're joined by Macy Ledbetter, a well-informed top flight biologist in Texas who's monitoring the New World Screw Worm situation in Texas with maximum urgency. It's a red hot topic in South Texas and many southern gamekeepers are paying attention to the outbreak. The screw worm and it's near eradication is a captivating story and tribute to science. The fact that it has fought its way back has ranchers/hunters/gamekeepers concerned, and for good reason. Macy does an eloquent job explaining it all. WE salute the agencies that are fighting around the clock to protect the livestock and wildlife that could be effected. These sacrifices allowed Israel to approach God according to His commands and addressed worship, thanksgiving, atonement, and restitution. This week we are joined by native plant specialist Kyle Lybarger and Cahaba Riverkeeper David Butler and we learn about a really unique and special plant. The Cahaba River Lilies bloom each spring and attract world wide attention. Once upon a time, many southern rivers had these lilies blooming on their shoals in the spring. Today only a few places still have them. These delicate white blooms create a sea of white along the shoals of the Cahaba River in their remaining places. Why? Because of mans influence the rivers and water levels have changed dramatically and eliminated the habitat these shoal lilies need. Thankfully we have people like David Butler and others that are fighting to help preserve the plants, habitat and the river. We think you will agree the story is amazing. Listen, Learn and Enjoy. Send us Fan MailThe Gospel of Mark presents us with a profound challenge: we cannot truly understand the New Testament without first knowing the Old. This shortest of the four Gospels moves at a breathtaking pace, immediately plunging us into Jesus' ministry with demon exorcisms, healings, and miracles. Yet each of these powerful acts carries deep Old Testament symbolism that we might miss if we don't know the backstory. The demons in the land represent foreign nations oppressing Israel. The healings from fever, leprosy, and lameness reverse the covenant curses of Deuteronomy 28. When Jesus calms the storm on the Sea of Galilee, He's fulfilling Psalm 107 where only Yahweh can still the waters. The irony is striking: while the disciples ask 'Who is this that even the wind and sea obey Him?' the demons immediately recognize Jesus as the Son of the Most High God. Mark is showing us that Jesus is the fulfillment of everything Israel has been waiting for, the One who can remove covenant curses and restore God's people. As we read this Gospel, we're invited to move beyond simply marveling at the miraculous events and ask ourselves: What is the inspired author trying to teach us through these historical moments? Understanding Mark requires us to see how the entire biblical story connects from Genesis to Revelation.Support the showStay engaged with new and up-to-date content, including newsletters, articles, podcasts, etc. Download the Teach Me the Bible App from any app store or Apple TV/Roku device.

Send us Fan MailLeviticus records God's instructions for sacrifices, priests, purity, and worship so Israel could approach a holy God according to His commands. The continual offerings, the Day of Atonement, and the work of the priesthood show that sin required sacrifice and cleansing. The priests served continually, and access to God's presence was limited. Send us Fan Mail1 and 2 Kings record the reign of Solomon and the division of Israel into two kingdoms after his death. Solomon was given wisdom and built the temple, but he turned his heart after other gods through many wives, as warned in the Law. After him, Israel split into the northern and southern kingdoms, and many kings did evil in the sight of the Lord. The books also record the ministries of prophets such as Elijah and Elisha and show that Israel and Judah faced judgment because they turned away from God's commands. These books reveal the consequences of disobedience and God's faithfulness to His word.Support the showStay engaged with new and up-to-date content, including newsletters, articles, podcasts, etc. Download the Teach Me the Bible App from any app store or Apple TV/Roku device.

On this episode we are joined by Dr. Bronson Strickland and Mitt Wardlaw of Wildlife Investments to discuss the highly intriguing and somewhat mysterious warm season annual American Joint Vetch. It's commonly referred to as Deer Vetch, or its proper name is Aeschynomene. Whatever you call it, it's a fantastic deer forage that tolerates heavy browsing like a champ. We learn that it fills a late summer gap, where to plant it, how to plant it and what to expect. Vetch sounds like the answer to a high deer density and smaller food plots. On this episode we are joined by Andrew McKean, the Hunting & Conservation Editor for Outdoor Life. Andrew has the craziest elk hunting story we can recall hearing. The West has thousands of acres of landlocked public hunting opportunities that are more-or-less inaccessible. There has been much debate about corner crossings in the last few years. After drawing tags and studying maps, Andrew and his buddies thought they'd found the perfect answer when they decided to have a helicopter drop them into a remote area so as not to cause any trespass issues with the adjoining landowners. All their reconnaissance paid off and all three killed giant bulls… but what happened next surprised everyone. It's a great story and one you'll want to hear and share Listen, Learn and Enjoy.
