On this edition of Parallax Views, the biggest wrestling event of the year is only days away: WrestleMania. Billed as the "Showcase of the Immortals," WrestleMania is the marquee event of World Wrestling Entertainment and has been going strong for over 40 years. On April 19th and 20th, WWE will present WrestleMania 41. Yes—FORTY-ONE. Ahead of the big event, I spoke with Gary from the YouTube channel Grapplevision—one of the most unique and compelling voices in pro wrestling media today. While most wrestling YouTubers focus on current events or canonical moments like the Montreal Screwjob, Hulk Hogan's heel turn, or Mick Foley's infamous fall off the Hell in a Cell, Grapplevision dives into the ghosts and glitches of wrestling history. It's a channel immersed in what you might call phantom histories: forgotten figures, obscure promotions, uncanny storylines, and the lingering specters of wrestling's carny roots. What sets Grapplevision apart is its unmistakably hauntological aesthetic—think VHS degradation, lost tapes, and late-night public access weirdness. The channel's documentaries are layered with analog textures and deep archival digs, evoking the era of tape trading and underground fandom. In many ways, it feels less like a recap or explainer and more like a séance conducted with a turnbuckle and a cathode-ray screen. From the blurred lines of shoot vs. worked fights (explored in the "Wrestling Gets Real" series), to Japanese deathmatch icon Atsushi Onita's exploding barbed wire spectacles, to strange pop culture crossovers featuring Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, and Jim Varney's Ernest P. Worrell—Grapplevision chronicles the strange, forgotten, and surreal corners of the squared circle. All this with an intro that cheekily nods to David Cronenberg's Videodrome. In this sprawling, four-and-a-half-hour conversation, you'll hear from someone who's not only been inside the industry but has also taken on the role of archivist and cultural historian. Even if you're not a wrestling fan, there's something here for anyone interested in performance, memory, mythology, and media.

Jessica Baladad, six-year cancer survivor, is the creator of Feel For Your Life, a free mobile application that provides resources on how to perform self breast exams and when to get screenings, while allowing users to track and monitor their changes and set reminders. An unexpected breast cancer diagnosis at 33 years old empowered Jessica to channel her experience into a mission that is changing the way women advocate for their medical care. It's the first of its kind created by a breast cancer patient and has been downloaded tens of thousands of times all over the world. In 2024, Jessica implemented an AI feature into the app to help patients interpret and better understand pathology reports from their breast cancer screenings. Jessica's history with breast cancer catalyzed her dedication to building Feel For Your Life. She's the fourth generation on her paternal side of the family to be diagnosed with the disease, and yet, no known gene mutation has been found in her lineage. She first learned how to do a self breast exam after having a benign tumor removed at 18, and nearly 15 years later, Jessica was diagnosed with Stage 2B invasive ductal carcinoma after performing a routine self exam in the shower. She underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, 24 rounds of radiation, a hysterectomy and 10-hour flap reconstruction. Since launching the app, Jessica has expanded her advocacy into healthcare reform. She has helped write legislation in the State of Tennessee to promote risk reducing measures against cancer and disease. Billed as the Feel For Your Life Act, it requires high school students to learn about self breast exams, testicular exams and skin exams. Additionally, Jessica has spoken out against insurance companies before members of Congress. She is working to eliminate quality-adjusted life-year (QALY) scores, Pharmacy Benefits Managers (PBMs) and co-pay accumulators. Jessica plans to grow her efforts further by working with medical providers, patients and vendors to bridge the gaps that keep individuals from getting access to the care they deserve. Jessica has been featured on Good Morning America, Tank's Good News, USA Today, The Dave Ramsey Show, UpWorthy and several national and international media outlets. She's worked with the NFL on their Crucial Catch Campaign to promote cancer screenings, received the Hometown Hero Award from Ponce Law on Nashville's Fox 17, has been recognized by the National Breast Cancer Foundation for her leadership initiatives and was the recipient of the Mona Lisa Foundation Grant in 2023. In 2020, the NFL's Crucial Catch Campaign partnered with Jessica to spread awareness about the importance of screenings being missed during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. She serves as an active committee member of the Tennessee Advocate for Breast Cancer (TA4BC) group. On this edition of Parallax Views, the Quincy Institute's Karthik Sankaran—writer, analyst, and longtime observer of global macroeconomic trends—joins the program to unpack the Trump administration's sweeping new tariff policy. Billed as a "reciprocal tariff" strategy, the move abandons long-held trade norms like Most Favored Nation (MFN) status in favor of a confrontational approach that targets countries based on bilateral trade deficits with the U.S. We'll end begin by discussing the logic and methodology that Karthik believes are driving the Trump tariff policies. We'll also delve into why the tariffs have been criticized across the board by neoliberals (of which Karthik describes himself as), right-wing libertarians like Thomas Sowell, and even progressively minded protectionists. The conversation will also delve into an area of particular interest to Karthik: how this will effect the Global South. We'll also delve into what the tariffs mean for U.S. foreign policy and international relations, why Brazil may come out of this better than other countries, what the tariffs mean for Europe and the EU, nearshoring vs. off-shoring and how nearshoring could be beneficial to Mexico, the U.S. move towards economic protectionism even under Biden, and what the tariffs mean for China. Also, Karthik will address listeners that disagree with his neoliberal worldview. Karthik describes himself as a "Neoliberal Peacenik". Whether or not you agree with his overview worldview, hopefully you'll find it interesting and informative.

“More Leaks,” the fourth compilation album by Baton Rouge rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again (Kentrell Gaulden), dropped on March 7, 2025, via Never Broke Again and Motown Records, serving as a gritty send-off before his anticipated prison release later that summer. Clocking in at 48 minutes across 16 tracks, this project arrived while YoungBoy was still incarcerated, serving a 23-month sentence for federal gun charges stemming from a 2020 arrest in Louisiana, with additional legal woes tied to prescription drug fraud in Utah. Billed by his team as his “last project” before freedom, “More Leaks” compiles previously teased snippets and unreleased cuts, offering fans a raw, unfiltered glimpse into his relentless creative output despite confinement. The album kicks off with “Trapped Out,” a menacing opener that sets the tone with booming 808s and YoungBoy's signature raspy aggression, reflecting the claustrophobia of his legal battles. Tracks like “Rich Junkie” and “Cut Throat” maintain this high-octane energy, driven by producers like D-Roc and Jason “Cheese” Goldberg, who amplify the trap-heavy sound YoungBoy's built his empire on. The lead single, “5 Night,” released February 28, 2025, pairs a hypnotic beat with visuals of YoungBoy dancing beside a G-Wagon, a stark contrast to his prison reality. Posts on X from fans like @YoungboySnippet highlight the vault's depth, with one noting, “Shows how crazy his vault is man, stuff [has] been getting leaked for months and still has songs which are very good.” Indeed, the title “More Leaks” nods to this chaotic rollout, embracing the flood of unofficial releases that have kept his name buzzing. While “More Leaks” lacks the polish of albums like “Sincerely, Kentrell” (2021), it compensates with raw intensity. Tracks like “Never Stopping” and “Meet the Reaper,” briefly available before being yanked from Spotify post-leak, resurface here, satisfying diehards who've tracked his every move. The production leans minimalist—think distorted bass and eerie synths—mirroring his isolated mindset, though some criticize its lack of variety. HotNewHipHop called it a “love-it-or-hate-it album,” noting its appeal to fans craving aggression over evolution. Features are sparse, with only a rumored Lil Baby verse on “Lost Soul” making the cut, keeping the focus squarely on YoungBoy's unapologetic delivery.Thematically, “More Leaks” wrestles with fame's weight and street loyalty, though introspection takes a backseat to bravado. Lines like “I'm still thuggin' ‘til I'm gone” from “Cut Throat” underscore his defiance, a sentiment echoed in his legal saga—pleading guilty yet dodging harsher penalties via a global settlement. Billboard reported its debut at #3 on the Top Rap Albums chart, a testament to his loyal fanbase, even as critics argue it's more a stopgap than a statement. Recorded partly before his December 2024 sentencing, the album's sound quality impressed peers like engineer Jason Goldberg, who lauded similar prison-recorded efforts on the “Ray Daniels Presents” show.As of March 27, 2025, with YoungBoy reportedly released early on March 24 from Talladega, Alabama, per HipHopDX, “More Leaks” bridges his incarceration and freedom. It's not his strongest work—lacking the cohesion of “Top” (2020)—but its chaotic energy mirrors his life, making it a fitting cap to a turbulent chapter.
Turning the desert into a $7 billion development project is no easy task. Billed as a "city within a city", Halo Vista will feature 2,300 acres, 28 million square feet of mixed-use development capacity, and up to 8,960 residential units as well as industrial, retail, and office spaces. This truly is a story of dirt to development.
Billed as a simple “High School Musical,” it was actually a global phenomenon. The 2006 made-for-TV Disney Original launched the careers of actors like Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, transformed the Disney Channel's programming, and garnered $4 billion in retail sales. Which elements of the movie were based on the screenwriter's own life? How was director Kenny Ortega able to film a Broadway style musical with such a young cast and only $4.2 million? Why were Zac Efron's vocals dubbed by another actor? Were they really all in this together– what were the relationships between cast members like? This week on "Streaming Without A Paddle" Andrew and Ted binged Netflix's original eight episode series "Running Point" starring Kate Hudson as well as featuring Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, and Brenda Song. Billed as a situational comedy, the series follows Isla Gordon (Hudson) as she tries to manage and grow the family run L.A. based professional basketball team "The Waves". From dealing with advertisers, player relations, as well as her brothers (each with their own issues) the series takes us through her daily life in this "Moneyball" meets "Ted Lasso" series. Tune into "Streaming Without A Paddle" to see if Andrew and Ted thought the series is a dunk or did Netflix throw up a brick shot.
This week Will and James are joined by Dr Aron D'Souza, president of the Enhanced Games. Billed as 'the ultimate demonstration of what the human body can do', the Enhanced Games seeks in part to answer that age old pub question, 'What if athletes were allowed to dope, how much better would they be?' It's a divisive topic unlike any other in sport, but having secured funding - including from Donald Trump Jnr - D'Souza and his team are confident the first edition of the Enhanced Games will run within the next two years, and in so doing will change not just sport but humanity itself. Unlike the Olympics, athletes will be directly paid to participate and bonussed to break records, and thus the edges of human limits will be smashed through. There'll be input from pharmaceutical companies, profits will be recycled into the research of newer drugs to push boundaries ever further, and the trickle down effect will be that one day, that drug you saw on TV that helped that 69 year old woman run a sub-10 second 100m will be available to you.Is it madness or is this the future? Let's just begin by saying there is nothing in Nashville like Pitch Meeting, Eric Fortaleza's weekly musical highwire act. Billed as “Nashville's Best Writer's Open Mic” the weekly show, which resumes this Tuesday February 25th features a powerhouse band of Nashville heavies (often of 10 or more players) whose job it is to back the any songwriter who's name is drawn from dozens of hopeful singer-songwriters. The catch - no one has heard the song, not the audience, and more importantly, not the band.“No chord charts, no pre-song run through,” says Pitch Meeting founder Eric Fortaleza. “We just go for it.”I've been to a few Pitch Meetings, and I count them among the most exciting musical experiences I've ever seen. Not only does the song somehow congeal around the band, but an arrangement seems to spring out of the ground like witched water — horn parts, a guitar solo, a bridge breakdown. I feel like you don't believe me. It's totally crazy. It all happens because of Eric Fortaleza, who has something of a gambler's taste for musical thrills and guts to spare. To me, he represents a new crop of Nashville musician, something different from the guys you see down on broadway, hoping to move their way up the ranks of touring musicians to become what is the gold standard of the Nashville Cat — the A-List studio musician. That's a laudable goal, to be sure, but in its application there's a sense of reticence, a holding something in reserve, because “you never know who's gonna be in the room.” People trying to get discovered may fire their flashiest tricks, but tricks are different from taking chances. Eric is ALL about taking chances. He came to Nashville from Sydney, Australia a couple months before the Pandemic. But he was born in the Phillipines. We talk alot about how being the child of immigrants had something to do with his inveterate hustle. We talk about alot of stuff in this episode. His unlikely but somehow inevitable move to Nashville after ten years on the Australian scene. Why he founded Pitch Meeting, what he likes about it, what's next. At some point in the conversation, the studio door opened to the afternoon glare and in stepped Eric's bandmate Owen Fader, who looks like and sings like a baby faced angel. They played a song together, which shifted the direction of the podcast moving forward. What do you think I mean? The Morse Code with Korby Lenker is a reader-supported publication. In this eagerly awaited episode of Mr. Biz Radio, Ken "Mr. Biz" Wentworth takes center stage to offer a forward-looking analysis of the economic landscape for 2025. Billed as a "special episode," Ken provides a deep dive into crucial topics that will impact business owners in the coming year, covering everything from inflation and interest rates to unemployment, supply chains, and market dynamics. With meticulous projections and strategic insights, Ken lays out the economic terrain, empowering business owners to navigate the future with confidence. Ken confidently forecasts a steady decline in inflation throughout the year 2025, attributing this trend to easing supply chain disruptions and stabilized commodity prices. He reflects on the potential impact of political shifts with the Republican party, led by President Donald Trump, taking full control of the executive and legislative branches. Ken discusses how these changes might influence inflation, interest rates, and the overall economic climate. By leveraging both current events and historical trends, he provides business owners with clear guidance on what to expect and how to prepare for economic shifts. Key Takeaways: -Inflation is expected to gradually decrease, potentially reaching the Federal Reserve's target range by the end of 2025, which offers a stabilizing outlook for business owners. -Interest rates will likely remain steady for the first half of the year, with possible reductions in the latter half as economic conditions stabilize. -Unemployment is anticipated to hover around 4.2% throughout 2025, suggesting stable, albeit tight, labor market conditions. -Geopolitical tensions, particularly involving the Panama and Suez Canals, might pose challenges for the global supply chain. -The stock and crypto markets could benefit significantly from pro-business policies, with potential for above-average growth as institutional investors increasingly embrace cryptocurrencies.

Detailed Description of Weaver's Motor Fuels Tax Minute, Episode 4200:00:00Leanne: Welcome to Weaver's Motor Fuels Tax Minute, the vlog where we talk all things motor fuel. This week Kelly is going to go back to the basics and talk about net billed or gross gallons.00:00:11Kelly: All right. Well before we go too far back into the basics, we're going to get a little technical to start off because this gets a little bit scientific. We're going to talk about a law of nature known as thermal expansion. So gross gas volume refers to what leaves the rack, and the net volume refers to the amount of gas the customers receive, which is temperature corrected to 60°F. So why does that matter? Well, you can see on our little graphic that when fuel moves from a tanker truck, that might be at above 60 degrees, into a storage tank that is at a lower degree, our fuel will shrink. Now we can all think from a marketing perspective, as the customer, you're probably not too thrilled with that at this point. But on the flip side, when we move from a cooler truck into a hotter storage tank, our fuel will expand. So probably right now as a supplier, you're not happy because your customer is going to get more or less based on the temperature control. So, here's where we get a little bit back to the basics with fuel tax. Where it matters for our purposes, outside of the marketing realm, is that states will require you to report based on net, gross, or billed. Billed will be whatever you bill to your customer, whatever's on the invoice. That could be net or gross, but you'll want to make sure that you report the correct gallons so that you are reporting the correct tax to the state. That can also result in some gain or loss that you could see a little bit of savings from or even a little bit of a loss from. So, it is going back to the basics, but we do get technical here.00:01:51Emilda: That's true, Kelly. And I don't think that a lot of people know this, you hear the term gross net difference, they don't really apply that in certain regions in the United States. There are certain regions that are hotter, then in other regions it's colder so you always have that fuel expansion going on, and so there is a gross or net variance with inventory. So, good point. That wraps up this week's Motor Fuels episode. Join us next time.

Welcome to Director Watch! On this AwardsWatch podcast, co-hosts Ryan McQuade and Jay Ledbetter attempt to breakdown, analyze, and ultimately, get inside the mind of some of cinema's greatest auteurs. In doing so, they will look at their filmographies, explore what drives them artistically and what makes their decision making process so fascinating. Add in a few silly tangents and a fun game at the end of the episode and you've got yourself a podcast we truly hope you love. On episode 78 of the Director Watch Podcast, the boys are joined by AwardsWatch contributor Karen Peterson to discuss the latest film in their Nancy Meyers series, The Holiday (2006). Tis the season at Director Watch, as the boys and Karen have come together to talk about one of the most popular modern holiday classics, The Holiday. Billed as a house swap story of two heartbroken women wanting to leave their world's behind after terrible encounters with the men in their lives, Meyers sets a more dramatic, sweet tale of finding love and confidence during the holiday season. In what feels like her version of Love Actually, Meyers is able to deliver a much more compelling, romantic film than that British film from just a few years before, lead by an all-star cast of Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, and Jack Black. Ryan, Jay, and Karen break down their thoughts on the film, what their holiday traditions are with their families, who character gets a better deal within the house swap, Jude Law's summer tan, singing in a Blockbuster video, the charming Eli Wallach, and, of course, the most important person in cinema history, Mr. Napkin Head. You can listen to the Director Watch Podcast wherever you stream podcasts, from iTunes, iHeartRadio, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Spotify, Audible, Amazon Music and more. This podcast runs 2h06m. The guys will be back next week to continue their series on the films of Nancy Meyers with a review of her film, It's Complicated. In a very sad development, a once-abundant species has formally been declared extinct. A highly migratory member of the wader family, the Slender-billed Curlew was a close relative of the Eurasian Curlew that we know and love here in Ireland. The last confirmed sighting was of a single individual at Merja Zerga, Morocco in 1995.

If there is only one thing you take away from the show this year, make it this one: Comply with the CTA. The Corporate Transparency Act (“CTA”) is one of the scariest legislative actions in the history of the United States, effectively turning tens of millions of Americans into felons on January 1, 2025 unless they somehow learn about the reporting requirements of this new law and get a lawyer to file a form with the U.S. Treasury by January 1, showing the details of their small business operations. Billed as an anti-money laundering law, the CTA requires disclosure of the details of your LLC, S Corporation, HOA, etc., to FINCEN - which might not seem like such a big deal until you learn that failure to do so could result in over $500 in daily fines and two years in prison!! Surveys show that a very small percentage of small business owners know about this new law, which appears to be a trap by which the government can ensnare and gain leverage over the small business community. Surely the newly elected federal legislature will reverse this law, but until it does, you are on the line whether you operate a mom-and-pop oil company or a hair salon. Call your lawyer NOW. Jessica Baladad, five-year cancer survivor, is the creator of Feel For Your Life, a free mobile application that provides resources on how to perform self breast exams and when to get screenings, while allowing users to track and monitor their changes and set reminders. She underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, 24 rounds of radiation, a hysterectomy and 10-hour flap reconstruction.Since launching the app, Jessica has expanded her advocacy into healthcare reform. Jessica plans to grow her efforts further by working with medical providers, patients and vendors to bridge the gaps that keep individuals from getting access to the care they deserve.Jessica has been featured on Good Morning America, Tank's Good News, USA Today, The Dave Ramsey Show, UpWorthy and several national and international media outlets. She serves as an active committee member of the Tennessee Advocate for Breast Cancer (TA4BC) group.https://www.feelforyourlife.com/meet-jessicahttps://www.linkedin.com/in/jessicabaladadhttps://www.instagram.com/jessica.baladad/?hl=enhttps://twitter.com/jessica_baladad?lang=enhttps://www.facebook.com/JessicaBaladad01/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/i-am-refocused-radio--2671113/support.
Ben and Rob examine ‘Joker 2: Folie A Deux' so you don't have to! Billed as the biggest film event of the year, ‘Joker 2' will go down in history as one of the all time box-office bombs, reviewing lower than ‘Madame Web' and left with no route to recouping its massive budget. Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga and Brendan Gleeson with Todd Phillips returning to direct, all seemed set for success for this story of an unwell man facing an unjust world. So how did the original team behind such an excellent original deliver such a dead-on-arrival dud? Was the film deliberately aimed at punishing the ‘wrong sort' of fan? Was the musical element a bad idea in total, or just poorly executed? And did Ben and Rob decide THIS episode should also be a musical? They didn't, did they? For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/jessica-baladad Highlights from today's episode include: Jessica Baladad So let's say you have a screening, and you get this pathology report back, and you're reading it, and it's like, what does this mean? I don't understand it. And you start Google things, and it doesn't make sense. So I took the guesswork out of that. Jessica Baladad 06:01 Yeah. So we even have a little term in the breast cancer community called scanxiety, where you are afraid of getting scans and exams. I mean, they're necessary, and we joke about it, but it's real that we have that fear of getting scanned, Jessica Baladad And so, you know, it's...people have a lot of different feelings about it, but ultimately, I want women to understand how their screenings work, how the pathology is done, and what they can do to empower themselves to get through that fear, because knowledge helps overcome that anxiety. ABOUT JESSICA BALADAD: Jessica Baladad, six-year cancer survivor, is the creator of Feel For Your Life, a free mobile application that provides resources on how to perform self breast exams and when to get screenings, while allowing users to track and monitor their changes and set reminders. She is working to eliminate quality-adjusted life-year & QALY ; scores, Pharmacy Benefits Managers (PBMs) and co-pay accumulators. She serves as an active committee member of the Tennessee Advocate for Breast Cancer & TA4BC& group. When Jessica is not working on patient advocacy, she enjoys traveling and exploring new places, attending sporting events with her husband and photographing animals. Core purpose/passion: To help prevent breast cancer by starting checkups and screenings early. In addition to their scientific names, birds are also given "official" English names. Take the bird commonly known as the rain crow, for example, officially referred to as the Yellow-billed Cuckoo by the American Ornithological Society. Its scientific name is Coccyzus americanus. Of course, the bird doesn't care what you call it, so long as it has plenty of hairy caterpillars to snack on.More info and transcript at BirdNote.org. Want more BirdNote?
