Dustin Nielson is back in studio to join Lt. Eric to break down what happened in game 5 of the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks series! In the game, the Oilers lost in a 3-2 with the Canucks scoring in the final minute of the game. Right off the hop, Mike Johnson joins as the 'Pro Am Sports Big Guest of the Day', bringing up Scottie Scheffler being arrested before diving into game 5 of the Edmonton Oilers series. Johnson eludes to the fact that the big guns weren't on their game and passed up a lot of big opportunities. He gives his view on what happened on the game-winning goal from J.T. Miller and how the Oilers' communication happened at that time. After giving his thoughts on that, he moves on to where he thinks Kris Knobluach might go for game 6. MJ thinks that Knoblauch can't really pass up playing Calvin Pickard again but would understand if KK went to Stuart Skinner. He talks a bit about the performance of J.T. Miller and how Connor McDavid has to respond in the next game. MJ then goes into the overall response of the Oilers where he highlights the Oilers play physically with a purpose, where they only do it to get the puck back. He thinks, if they do that and do it well they have a chance to push game 7. Mike Johnson also shares a story about his former coach in Arizona, Rick Tocchett and how he's a hard-nosed coach who calls out his players and does it well. The boys then shift over to the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers series. Johnson shares his frustration with the Hurricanes and how he has picked them for the last 4 years. He discusses the fantastic player of Chris Kreider in game 6 and how the Hurricanes broke down giving away a 3-1 lead in the game. Johnson closes his time on the show by sharing some words about Darren Dutchyshen and what kind of person he was. After MJ leaves, Dusty talks a bit about Dutchy as well before moving into Scottie Scheffler being arrested. To recap what happened last night in sports, Dusty moves into 'Morning Announcements' presented by 100.3 The BEAR! Finishing that segment, the boys get into a conversation about the Oilers game during 'The Morning After Show' for E.M. Utility Locating! The boys talk about how fans have been flip-flopping between being anxious, being comfortable, being anxious to being comfortable with the play of the Oilers this series. However, Dusty got fired about how the Oilers got a fourth-line game but only 3 shots on the powerplay. Lt. Eric gives his big moment of the game, fourth star of the game, 38th star of the game and the Steady Eddie of the night! We hear the voice of Captain Connor McDavid before hearing Atif's big speech from yesterday. Before the end of hour one, the fellas get into 'The Crack Pack' powered by Wayne's Sports Cards & Collectibles!
On this episode James and Steady Eddie are joined by Marcus O'Halloran from Agri Aware. Marcus from Tipperary talks about his own farm enterprise and the role that Agri Aware take in educating the Irish Public about farming to give those out side the community a greater understanding of the role farming takes in society. The Sod Pod; https://ie.timacagro.com/podcast-the-sod-pod/
To start the show, Dusty and Lt. Eric recap what happened during the game and how their night was at Hudson's on Bourbon Street. Then the boys lay out the show. To recap what happened last night, Dusty gave his 'Morning Announcements' presented by 100.3 The BEAR! Lt. Eric and Dustin Nielson dive into 'The Morning After Show' for E.M. Utility Locating! For the EST Big Moment Eric picked the 39-second stretch where Zadorov and Garland scored for the Canucks to take the lead. Dusty picks the Nuge post as he thinks that would've given the Oilers a very good chance to keep in it. The Super Stat of the Night was the special teams and Zach Hyman scored 2 goals. The PK went 3/3 for the night and the Oilers scored on the powerplay. Three stars were Dakota Joshua, Nikita Zadorov and Zach Hyman. LTE's fourth star went to Connor Garland with the winner. For the 35th, 36th, 37th and 38th star, Dusty went to Mattias Janmark, Nurse, Ceci and Skinner for their bad play. The Steady Eddie of the Night went to Zach Hyman and HM Mattias Ekholm. We then hear the voice of Kris Knoblauch and what he had to say after the game. Kris Knoblauch said that the Canucks DIDN'T outplay the Oilers in the second half... The boys then play 'We Built This Smitty' to try and take away the pain fans are feeling this morning. Each Nielson Show song is presented by Sportball!
Midweek surprise as the boys' welcome Spirit Lake High School Alum, 2021 Iowa State Runner up, 2023 top 10 finisher at the Northwest Am, and now the 2024 GPAC Individual Medalist, Jackson Laven.Support the Show.

5:05-6:08: “The second pleasant surprise and the second I said was that Dereck Lively needs to become the second coming of Tyson Chandler. Again, he's not Tyson Chandler. However, he looks incredible. He looks so good that you actually see some of the deficiencies of not having more support in the big area. … But when Lively is healthy and when he's in and when he's not in foul trouble, they look pretty awesome. And then the third and sort of final one is some of these role players, they look incredible too. Grant Williams has been Steady Eddie for us, and he's not only a good vibes guy on the bench, which every team needs; he is amazing from the 3-point line. He's just a little bit more versatile than role players we've had in the past and same with Derrick Jones Jr. Derrick Jones Jr., who is an NBA journeyman, I can't recall him looking this good, really ever.” 8:28-8:47: “If they're playing a team, say the Wolves or someone like that, [they have] the ability to be able to speed up but then also grind the game to a halt and make it a half-court contest. I think Dallas has the versatility, offensively, to play both ways.” 12:55-13:25: “In terms of bringing in these huge stars, I'm sorry, the NBA is too good, and you have to have a training camp and you have to learn how to play together. And those are the positive signs we're seeing from Luka and Kyrie and why I feel really good about this team, even with the defensive woes. It's simply because they look like a team that has an identity, a philosophy, schemes. If you're a team with that in place, you have a leg up on a bunch of other teams.” 18:12-18:29: “When you watched [Doncic] last season, you literally had the thought, ‘This is not sustainable.' As great as he is, it is not sustainable to watch this guy control the entirety of every single possession, and it [ultimately] played out exactly how we thought.” 24:33-24:48: “Now, in my head, Luka has to show that he is clearly better than Jokic to win the MVP, and I don't know if he'll do that. But it's funny that our brains do that, all because Jokic has a ring.” 26:39-28:17: “Being a big next to Luka, you just have a very specific job…and he's excelling like crazy at that. … If I am, say, playing the Mavericks in the playoffs and I am scouting, the very first thing, the literal No. 1 agenda item is ‘get Dereck Lively in foul trouble.'” 39:19-39:30: “In terms of growth from year over year, it's been nice seeing them just handle these bad opponents because they didn't. I can tell you, ‘They did not do that in the past.'”

It's a nice sense of normalcy (not to mention money) and he gets to see Robin more because of it. However, between working together and sharing the same best friend, he's also been seeing a lot more of Steve Harrington. He wants nothing more than to enjoy mindless fun with his friends now that everything with Vecna is over, but Eddie's finding it hard to move on from what happened. Even if the strangest thing in his life right now was simply the fact he and Steve Harrington might actually be friends.

Boundary markers show us where one property ends and another begins. Here's the paradox: recognizing those markers in marriage will make for a better union, not a more disjointed one. In this lesson we talk about four major areas where healthy couples set up boundary markers.Marriage doesn't mean you lose your identity or that being one means you have no sense of self. You do! You should! Conflict in marriage often comes when one infringes on the other's boundaries and tries to control the spouse. Or when we make our spouse responsible for our feelings or meeting our unspoken desires. How You FeelYour spouse can't control how you feel. That's on you. You are responsible for your emotions and you have to be brave enough to articulate them to your spouse. (Law of Responsibility)You can express how your spouse's actions affect you but your angry outburst or silent punishment is your choice.Steady Eddie vs Roller CoasterYou don't need to run cover for your spouse's moodiness or angry outbursts. They are responsible for their own actions. And, we need to loving confront our spouse when they are manipulative or toxic. The doormat (compliant) vs. The bulldozer (controller)What You ExpectThe Law of exposure says you need to voice your desires and needs so your spouse can get on the same page. Your spouse can't read your mind so you have to share your expectations and be ready to compromise. The vault vs. the over-sharerYou can't punish your spouse for unwritten rules. The Work You DoYou can't do everything for everyone, so be honest with your spouse about your limitations.Go-getter vs. Video-gamerThe people pleaserYour Time TogetherYou don't have to spend all your time together. It's okay to ask for some free time. It's good to have personal hobbies apart from your spouse.. It's okay to enjoy time apart. Being one doesn't mean you lose all sense of self.Introvert vs. ExtrovertThe TakeawayBoundary markers show us where one property ends and another begins. Here's the paradox: recognizing those markers in marriage will make for a better union, not a more disjointed one. It takes two people with tender, responsive hearts to make a marriage great. https://www.pursuegod.org/boundaries-in-marriage/
1979 ALCS Game Two After a thrilling walk-off win in game one, the Orioles look to take a commanding 2-0 series lead against the Angels. Baltimore sends their Cy Young winner, lefty Mike Flanagan (23 - 9 3.08 ERA 265 IP), to the mound. He has been a workhorse all season, but has been known to lose it quickly if he really gets in trouble. Opposing him is California righty Dave Frost (16 - 10 3.57 ERA 239 IP), who is having a career year, unfortunately the only one of his relatively short career. This game will once again be close at the end, but it will play out in a much different fashion than game one. Can the Orioles take control of this series, or will the Angels even it up. Tune in to this barnburner. Audio clips from joeydbball Youtube - NBC Broadcast: Dick Enberg, Wes Parker, Sparky Anderson As always, shout out to Baseball Reference and SABR for statistics, boxscores, background information, and much, much more. Catch you next time, P.C.O.
I'm racing to write and record this for you in the moments before my second surgery. But before I go in, I want to tell you something odd.Cancer has been good for me.I can't lie. In the first 24 hours, I journeyed through some very difficult feelings relating to my mortality and how that would impact my three children. I let those feelings truly sink in and tenderize me. That felt important.I recognize not everyone will agree with this take, but when it entered other people's lives, I'd always thought of Cancer as an important messenger. So when it knocked on my door, I wanted to fully receive my message. What came up for me was grief. So much grief. This made a lot of sense. See, before I was separated from my husband, my mammo was all clear. So The Big C came on after the separation. I will spare you divorce details, dear reader, but ever since my husband moved out of our home, my focus has been on keeping things steady for the children. I wake them up the same way, I put them to sleep the same way, the breakfast and dinner tables are set the exact same way, our vacations haven't changed. No matter what shit storm is happening behind the scenes, I've kept it all Steady Eddie on my end. I rarely let myself grieve the dream I had for our family. I wanted to be the face of resiliance. The all powerful Momma. After all, if I fell apart, it would make everything so much worse for them, right? Maybe. Maybe not. It doesn't matter. I didn't fall apart. That's the path I chose. And so, perhaps, that's why Cancer chose me. Again, maybe. Maybe not. This is how I see it. How many women do you know who've gotten some form of female cancer during or just after their divorce? The unprocessed grief takes a toll in my opinion. So diving into and sitting with that abject grief felt important to me.In meditation, we stay with the breath. But when a very big wave of feeling comes, we release the breath and stay with that feeling and allow ourselves to feel it fully.Just after the diagnosis, when I felt that grief come on, I allowed it to engulf me (when my kids were at school and asleep, of course) and eventually, it passed. When I allow hard feelings to come in full force, they usually pass through me within 24-48 hours like a rough storm. I suspect I will weather many such storms during this process Today, I have another surgery. They didn't get it all the first time.I fall into the 10 percent who need a second surgery. Some people would call that unlucky.I see it differently. I am lucky. They caught the problem.Out, out damn spot.Whether the source of the proverbial spot is the divorce or something else, I don't really know. Whether I will ever fully get it out, I don't know that, for certain, either. But I am committed to the exploration and understanding of my internal life in tandem with the exploration and understanding of my physical body. I believe the two are linked. Many people use the phrase, Fuck Cancer as a source of strength to fight the disease. I don't gain strength from that personally. I do see the Cancer as a toxicity that needs to come out, but it feels like emotional waste for people who have gone through something hard. So Fuck Cancer feels, to me, like being mad at your bowel movements.

Soccer Comic Rant #459 Steady Eddie Scores, Man Utd Win The Carabao Cup And Potter Loses Again. United beats Newcastle 2-0 and win their first trophy in 6 years. Love how Casemiro and Varane love Utd. Should Potter be fired after losing to Spurs 2-0? Tottenham's assistant coach has more wins in the Premier League than Potter this year. STEADY EDDIE- FAITH FOR ALL SEASONS Among my favorite stories of fables and myths from our childhood is the one about the tortoise and the hare. As the story goes, the hare, or as you may say, the rabbit, was speedy and always witty. The second character in this fable is a turtle, slow and boring. One day they decided to have a race to see who was the fastest one in town. Everybody laughed at the turtle even entering the race, let alone thinking that he could win this one. On the other hand, the rabbit was bragging about his incredible speed and taking congratulations even before the race began. On the day of the race, when the gun went off, the rabbit zipped off over the horizon before the turtle could even get out of his shell. Well, if you remember the story, you already know the outcome. The turtle won the rabbit lost. How in the world could that happen? I'll tell you exactly how it happened because I see it daily in the Christian world. In all reality, the rabbit in this fable goofed off and took time off play the fool. Meanwhile, the turtle kept plotting one step at a time; he never slowed down and never quit. He's what we call "Steady Eddie." I have watched it for years in the church and throughout the body of Christ, where those that should have won the race have lost it because they were wasting time. They didn't achieve their goal and won the race because they were slow or without scale and talent. The plain fact is they didn't get there because they took too many detours along the way. It seems they have the attitude that God will take care of it no matter what they do. Well, here's a news flash for you. God already took care of it on the cross and resurrection, handed the keys to you, and said go to work. If there ever was a day that we needed steady Eddies in the church and our national leadership teams, we need them today. Those that keep plotting one step at a time until the race is won and the battle is over. I believe we will win in our spiritual conquest and national domination if we are the "Steady Eddies of our day." Taylor Payne hosts your go-to Newcastle United podcast alongside The Athletic's George Caulkin and Chris Waugh.Ten months since he arrived at Newcastle and ahead of his former club's visit to St James' Park on Saturday, we're focusing this week on Eddie Howe. Steady Eddie's turned around performances and results, fostered an 'us against them' mentality, and readily admits that he's fallen in love with the place. What a guy. Ahmed Shooble, The Athletic's Bournemouth reporter, joins us to discuss how Eddie's developed as a coach and what we can expect from the game this weekend.Plus, we've only gone and signed Loris Karius on a short term deal! Can Eddie's powers of redemption work on a keepr whose career has been defined by two horrendous errors in a Champions League final? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It's baseball season! So, it seems only fitting that episode 14 is about Past Prime Pastime! Matty is joined by Past Prime baseball correspondent, Kevin H. Blake to discuss the greatness of former Baltimore Orioles great, Edward Clarence Murray -- specifically his abominable final season, with the Angels and Dodgers in 1997, wherein he bounced between the Majors and AAA. After a Hall of Fame career defined by uncanny consistency, "Steady Eddie" had nothing left in the tank at the age of forty-one. His body was finally breaking down, he struggled to bat .200 and he'd been left merely with "warning track power." For a quarter of a century, Matty -- a lifelong Eddie Murray fan -- has been scarred by his hero's feeble last stand. Matty had once been so inordinately invested in Murray's great career that, in school, if his (so called) friends wanted to insult him, they would simply shout "Murray sucks" in his general direction. Fortunately, Kevin is here to help provide counsel through the rupture of fandom. With one psych class under his belt but an honorary PHD in neuroses, Dr. (he's a lawyer) Blake gently helps Matty understand "why Eddie" and what those final few weeks that the great, middle-aged ballplayer spent in the minor leagues actually signify. This is a podcast about professional baseball in middle age and the attachments we make and break with our heroes. Also, it's completely funny. So, oil up your gloves. Throw some pine tar on those bats. And get ready for "Steady Eddie." To read more about Eddie Murray, check out the full essay at Past Prime.
