Touring is finally back and we get the honor of speaking with guitarist Stevie D. of hard rock band Buckcherry. In the duration of this interview, Stevie is currently on the road and on the 3rd day of touring the States – and we ask him how exciting this all feels getting back in the groove of things. It's been a long road back from nearly a year and a half away from live music, and Stevie is grateful for any opportunity he gets on stepping onto the stage to shred again. Being a father, and being a musician are two different dynamics that he possesses with great passion, and it's been something he's learned a great deal about who he is. Alongside the positivity surrounding the mental and personal growth, Stevie also talks about the new music and the 9th album “Hellbound” that the band is gearing up to release later this month, and this new chapter is one page they cannot wait to show the fans. Bringing back the vibes of AC/DC and Motley Crue, Buckcherry fuse it all in with their own creative identity that will get the headbanging up to maximum level. We also ask Stevie about their newest label partner in Round Hill Music, and the path that placed “Hellbound” on being their first album released under this moniker. It is a fresh new chapter for Buckcherry, and as for the rest of the world, that new chapter is more than needed. Whether it's their debut album or their 9th album, they've had records which have gone to be certified double platinum – which is never an easy thing to do, yet here they are doing what they do best. Tune into our episode with the talented Stevie D. as we cover top to bottom on his storied musical career and be sure to buy and stream the new album from Buckcherry, titled “Hellbound,” due out June 25 via Round Hill Music.Stay connected with Buckcherry, visit: https://buckcherry.com/, https://www.facebook.com/buckcherry, and https://www.instagram.com/buckcherry/Stay connected with IUF, visit: https://interviewunderfire.com/

Buckcherry are a band synonymous with hard rock.Throughout their career they have released the hit singles "Crazy Bitch", "Lit Up" and "Next To You” but have also cracked the charts with slow burners such as “Sorry” and “Everything”.Although equally at home with the ballad or rock number, long time fans will be pleased to hear that their upcoming ninth studio album Hellbound is definitely more of the former, with guitarist Stevie D joining HEAVY to talk about what we can expect."We've had our fair share of shake-ups during the last few years," he began, "but I think we dialled it in. Josh and I - during quarantine here in the States - wrote twenty-something songs and went to Nashville and paired up with a guy called Marti Frederikson and brought the whole thing home and dialled it into ten rock and roll songs for you. There have been times when we had something specific in mind, like a certain sound in mind, but I think for this one it served us best to just write the best songs that we could. We ended up with over 25 of them and then we whittled them down to ten and Marty was the one who chose the ten that we were gonna concentrate on and they all happened to be consistent with each other and cohesive and they were all rock and roll - or guitar-driven - songs and maybe had an overtone of being that 70's rock and roll classic band."In the full interview, Stevie runs us through Hellbound in greater detail, the writing process, working with Marti and his role over the whole album process, his own joining of Buckcherry back in 2005 and what was expected of him, the ensuing album 15 and why it resonated with fans, the EP Fuck and how it was received, plans for 2021 and more.

Stevie D returns for his encore performance with America's Podcaster, Kurt Caceres, in front of 70,000 screaming fans. He's not entitled, but emphasizes the fact that after 25 years on the big stage, he has earned the right to request certain accommodations, just like any successful artist who has paid their dues. Life on tour destroys the mind and body, it's a whirlwind ride, night after night full of adrenaline. But what happens after a 300 show tour ends? How does one handle the silence after the storm? The quiet in solitude, alone after months on a traveling high. Many performers fall into drugs and alcohol to fill the empty void, it's a dangerous trap that so few have the ability to cope with. As he's aged, so has his wisdom and ability to balance life on the road, time in the studio, and his duty as father to his son. He closes out with a discussion on Rock Star hair, ink and fashion and says "it's not what you wear, but how you own it". Musicians can do anything to their style and the fans accept it because they are bigger than life, confident shapeshifters, setting trends that everyone is willing to accept. Stevie D says "it's not always about being the best guitarist, it's about the craft, and most important, the song". He sits with America's Podcaster, Kurt Caceres, to talk about guitar greats in the history of Rock-n-Roll. He studied Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and Angus young, but "Eddie Van Halen was shredding in ways that no one had ever seen or done before and no guitarist understood what was happening" exclaims Stevie. You couldn't be a guitar player in his generation without being influenced by Eddie. "They say to never meet your hero's, well often times the bigger they are, the nicer they are", Stevie says of the times he met Eddie in person. "The intro to Mean Street, was like, wtf was he doing, it was so foreign and alien to the industry" says Stevie. Starting his musical career on piano, he fell into guitar after a woman broke his heart, so he locked himself away for months distracting himself with the guitar, which would end up being his instrument of choice for life. Like many kids of the 80's, his parents would take his Motley Crue or KISS albums because they were considered violent, to sexy and devil worshipping. Of course, every parent of the 80's was wrong, but Stevie followed that path and became a rock star himself. Finally, Stevie digs deep into his decades of sobriety and the daily struggle many face, especially during a time of pandemic. From performing in front of 70,000 fans to flying coach, this is a behind the scenes look inside the life of a Rock-n-Roll band. Please Follow and Subscribe to the Podcast. Stevie D is best known for playing lead guitar for the rock band, Buckcherry, who has multiple award winning hits that topped the charts for many years. He sits with America's Podcaster, Kurt Caceres, to talk about his rise to fame, but not without it's usually Hollywood pitfalls. Drugs and Rock-n-Roll are always synonymous, in this case, taking Stevie D down a path he's had to struggle with and overcome his entire career. He has continued to write and record powerful music that still stands the test of time. The life of a Rock Star never ends, always dealing with record labels, fans and the temptation of substances that would make most tailspin. He is here to help us understand the fight millions battle each day and is a testament to beating the demons that live within us all. XXPlease Follow and Subscribe to the Podcast. Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon presents Buckcherry's Stevie D. (recorded January 2020). Stevie D. discusses the band's latest album Warpaint, the spirit of Buckcherry, the band's sound, why Josh Todd & The Conflict, Spraygun war, how important is radio play to the band, the new collaboration with WifisFuneral, their upcoming ACOUSTIC project, the album 15, drummer Francis Ruiz and much more. "It was important to us (when the band splintered) to keep the spirit of Buckcherry and what that is. It was important to keep that intact. So, in writing, that was definitely in the forefront." "Rock is still alive and selling out stadiums." "For us, radio is important, but it's not the answer because we built a great touring business. We can still go out and sellout where ever we play. It would be nice to have the radio support but it wasn't necessary during the Warpaint tour." "You've got to stay true to who you are... Buckcherry has never been a band that is doing what every one else is doing. And getting successful has been icing on the cake for us." "We'll do another full length record by end of summer. We're constantly working on stuff. Right after Wifisfuneral, we do have a couple acoustic songs coming out." The 15 album: "There was nothing riding on it. We were at this place where we could do it or not. There was no record company. There was no manager or nothing. It was just five guys in a room. Go figure, the thing blew up."
