Dylan Buckley is the founder of "Producey", former AFL Player & one Australia's biggest podcasters. He has led and paved the way for sports podcasting in Australia through some of the country's largest shows including "Dyl & Friends". This interview has been a long time coming and it was great to finally sit down with Dyl in the studio and chat about the past, present and future of Dyl's incredible vision. This will give you some great insight into Dyl's company, "Producey" and how he's been able to build such an empire. Plus, the behind the scenes frustrating aspects of podcasting which from the outside, we don't even notice! Dyl shares some of the biggest groundbreaking moments in "Dyl & Friends" history including the famous Damian Hardwick interview and the recent coaches series. Plus, the one unspoken rule in podcasting that the audience usually overlooks. We get a glimpse into the future plans for Dylan and the next steps to taking things to a new level...which is so intriguing to hear compared to making media kits and trying to sell sponsors after training at the GWS Giants! Tour Edge Show and Tell returns with a story from a whole different aspect of Dyl's life away from work and footy and as usual, this episode is full of laughs. We can't wait for you to hear this one and we know you'll get so much out of this...especially if you've ever had a vision of building something. Enjoy our chat with the podfather, Dylan Buckley! John and Elizabeth had the chance to talk with Ieva Jusionyte, anthropologist, journalist, emergency medical technician. Her award-winning books include Exit Wounds, which uses anthropological and journalistic methods to follow guns purchased in the United States through organized crime scenes in Mexico, and their legal, social and personal repercussions. The three also talked about how language captures and fails to capture violence, the ways violence and the fear of violence organize space, and the importance of a humble, responsive, and empathetic approach to speaking with people touched by gun violence. "Choc's Chat" is one of Australia's favourite and funniest social media accounts boasting close to 400,000 followers across TikTok & Instagram. It's always great to sit down with Choc, have a laugh and chat well...a whole lotta nothing! Amongst all the laughs you'll hear Choc's accidental rise to social media fame and how if it wasn't for one of his mates...it may have never came to be! We watch back at some his classic content including a hilarious Valentines Day skit, a car Salesman Skit, his infamous umpiring content and the rising star of his newborn! Show and Tell returns with Choc's alter ego, we hear about his (unimpressive and probably illegal) business idea and we talk about the hilarious pub crawl we went on which was the first time we all met. Gavin is about to share with you his incredible story where his AFL career hit the ultimate highs but personally was battling the lowest of lows. He shares his battle with alcohol, gambling and drug addiction and the absolute peak of the problem. From traveling through airports with drugs to taking them on game day and the lengths he went to hide it...your eyes will be opened to the issue of addiction. Plus, how dangerously close he got to taking meth. He shares the shame he felt and incredibly how no one (apart from his dealer) knew what was going on. What's up Bros? We made it to the finale and this show is amazing. While many of us feel as though they got shafted with the reunion being same day as the finale and only a ten episode run. Let's keep this crew humble as long as we can because all signs are pointing to this show is going to be a hit. Emmy put together a law prom to make up for missing Will's, although from what we see this episode, his enthusiasm is hardly shining through. Joe and Maddi look like theyve reached a better place as Joe realizes he needs to stop pushing. Michols and Preston make it exclusive in a very touching scene. Prom goes how we all thought it would. Austin dances around the subject with everyone else at the party but doesnt talk to Will until Mia forces the issue. Brad and TJ did a little more digging and as everything comes to a head, all the info comes out. Will deflects and tries to put a fed up TJ down, while the rest of the group just wants answers. G Lily proves shes the worst friend on the planet when she shows up with The Milk Man... It was a beautiful disaster we watched in this finale and we give all the props to this cast for a damn good season. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

This week Jeff and Dave are back in the studio to discuss the leading light of early fourth-century Christian rhetoric. 'No whey', you say? Yes, it's true. The guys again take a look at the North African rhetorical tradition that produced such greats of Christian apologetics as Minucius Felix, Tertullian, Cyprian of Carthage, and Arnobius of Sicca. What should we make of Lactantius' accomplishment? Is he really the crème de la crème, or merely pushed forward by inevitable social forces, not an instance of the 'great man theory'? And what about his rhetorical feats in the grisly Deaths of the Persecutors, Divine Institutes, God's Workmanship, and more? Was Pico della Mirandola correct that Lactantius "equalled Cicero, or maybe even surpassed him in eloquence"? Come along for the ride as we wrap up this two-parter on the man who was well suited to his times, interacting with the cabbage-loving Diocletian, a host of enemies of the Christian faith, and even the big guy, Constantine. And bee sure to check out Dave's free Latin lessons here: Deaths of the Persecturors Epitome of the Divine Institutes
Kaip niekada anksti koncertinį sezoną pradedantis Dady Was A Milkman turi naujienų – į „kepyklą“ atiduotas naujas vinilas, metų vyšnia ant torto gali tapti plokštelė iš akustinių koncertų ciklo. Pernai įvykusi pažintis su Latvijos gitaros virtuozu Gintu Smuku (Gints Smukais) subrandino akustinių koncertų seriją: „Tas kūrybingas žmogus, mano naujas draugas, jis ir elektroninius kūrinius perkėlė į akustinį skambesį. Kažkoks kosmosas, kai vienu instrumentu groja ir perkusiją, ir išlaiko ritminę dalį – žmogus groja kaip keturi instrumentai, o gitara viena. Man pačiam labai įdomu klausytis net pačių repeticijų, taip skambančių savo kūrinių dar negirdėjau, jaučiuosi tarsi būčiau mini koncerte“, – apie scenos partnerį pasakoja Ignas Pociūnas, Daddy Was A Milkman. Naują albumą atlikėjas pristatys vėliau, vasarą, Kalnų parke. Ved. Marius Andrijauskas

This week the guys teeter on the edge of Late Antiquity, caught in that liminal space between pagan and Christian, west and east, Latin and Greek. And what better guide through it than Lucius Caecilius Firmianus Lactantius (the "Milkman"), the early Christian apologist who converted to the faith during Diocletian's persecution and ended up working for Constantine? Dave and Jeff spend the hour trying to assemble the threadbare, but fascinating biography of the man, all the while investigating such questions as: where does Lactantius stand in the larger picture of apologetics? What was his career like before his conversion? What does it mean to call him the "Christian Cicero"? And what's with all these North Africans punching above their weight? Is there something in that Carthaginian coffee? Lastly, speaking of coffee, if you're out driving and the brew in your tumbler is less than ideal, just try to keep 'er steady, ok? (Don't ask, just tune in).

Everyone, we assume, wants to be their best person. Few of us, perhaps, none, hits all their marks in this pursuit even if the way toward the goal is generally apparent. If you want to know how to do a better job hitting those marks, whether its walking 10,000 steps, learning Esperanto, or quitting smoking, a good person to consult would be Katy Milkman. Working at the nexus of economics and psychology, Milkman – the James G. Dinan Professor at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and co-founder of the Behavior Change for Good Initiative at Penn – studies the almost alchemical process of turning good intentions into solid actions. In this Social Science Bites podcast, she details for interviewer David Edmonds some of the biases and some of the critical thinking processes that both define and then overcome the obstacles to changing our behavior. These range from concepts with such academic names as present bias and temptation bundling to the more colloquial ‘what the hell effect' and its antidote, the emergency reserve. But the point of her research – especially as it gets translated to the public through her podcast Choiceology or her 2021 book How to Change: The Science of Getting from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be – is to find practical ways to change yourself. For example, she explains that “it's important for goals to be measurable and achievable, although they should be a stretch. You know, if your goal is ‘exercise more,' how can you measure that? How could you even set a commitment device, for instance? … It's also important to have a plan of, sort of, when will I do it, where will I do it, how will I get there. These are called “implementation intentions.” I think the most important part of them is they associate a cue with the action. So just like an actor needs a cue to know when to say their lines, we need to not forget to take action on our goals.” Her influence in turn is felt practically. Choiceology, for example, is sponsored by the brokerage house Charles Schwab, and Milkman has been a consultant for organizations ranging from the U.S. government and Walmart to 24 Hour Fitness and the American Red Cross. She is a former president of the Society for Judgment and Decision Making and a fellow of the Association for Psychological Science. We'd love to hear your feedback on the Social Science Bites series. Please let us know your thoughts on Social Science Bites by taking our short survey, and you'll be entered to win one of five free copies of the Social Science Bites book, Understanding Humans.

The beginning of a new year often represents a clean slate for people hoping to make a change. But by this point in January, many have let go of their resolutions. It can be difficult to make goals stick, especially when they require actions that aren't inherently rewarding. Katy Milkman, a behavioral economist at the University of Pennsylvania, has spent her career researching what it takes to achieve our goals. Her 2021 book How to Change: The Science of Getting from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be, offers research-backed strategies to help new habits stick. In today's episode, Milkman speaks with Here & Now's Jane Clayson about some of those strategies, like combining tasks with temptation. Then, listeners share their New Year's resolution wins.To listen to Book of the Day sponsor-free and support NPR's book coverage, sign up for Book of the Day+ at plus.npr.org/bookofthedayLearn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy
I wasn’t planning on releasing this episode, as it was a wastedmemory fill-in show, but then I went and got sick last week, so I had to have something to edit this week. Enjoy This episode of CORNDOWN spirals through the chaos of the holiday season, starting with attempts to salvage Christmas amid mishaps and misunderstandings. I grapple with dumpster dilemmas, creative gifting ideas, and moments of defensive reflexes, while Hootis brings stories of peculiar staff interactions and unconventional conference room gatherings. There's also a run of events involving misplaced hotel items and an array of “practice” Christmas efforts. Bhenchodester contributes tales of extra requests taken to comedic extremes, and Milkman reflects on seasonal plans gone sideways. Amid all this, the recurring theme of vampiric vibes keeps popping up, bringing the strange holiday energy full circle. This show is made possible by donations from listeners like you. This week on The Whiskey Trip, the adventure leads to Richmond, Virginia, for a visit to Reservoir Distillery. Big Chief sits down with Founder, Dave Cuttino and Director of Distillery Education, Shelley Sackier, who deliver far more than he expected, filling the day with education, warm hospitality, and spirits that had him dancing in his seat. Reservoir's Austria-built brandy still is key to producing their exceptional single grain whiskeys. The episode starts with a tasting of their four-grain Bourbon, featuring a mash bill of 69% corn, 14% rye, 14% wheat, and 1% barley. This bourbon was crafted to help the distillery grow into new markets while staying true to their unique identity. To finish the first half, they explore the 100% single grain rye whiskey, a bold spirit with rich, antique flavors of sorghum molasses and sassafras tea. The second half opens with Holland's Milkman, a Bourbon finished in an Ardent Milk Stout barrel, showcasing the exciting collaboration between distillers and brewers—whiskey's new frontier. The grand finale is the Hazmat Expression: a 142 proof, 10-year-old Bourbon that explodes with fiery, hot cinnamon candy flavor. What a way to finish! This episode has reignited Big Chief's passion for whiskey, inspiring him to seek out even more captivating stories to share with listeners. Cheers to another unforgettable stop on The Whiskey Trip!
