De son vrai nom Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, il était le fondateur du redoutable cartel de la drogue Jalisco Nueva Generación (CNJG). « El Mencho » était considéré comme le dernier des grands parrains du pays et était activement recherché, avant d'être appréhendé puis tué à Tapalpa (État de Jalisco).
