In episode 105 of The Johnny Rogers Show I caught up with stand up comedian, Marc Hallworth! Marc is the happiest person you will ever meet in your life and every time I chat with this guy it's always an insightful and hilarious conversation. Marc's original word for the episode was ‘happiness' but we made a pivot to the word 'community.' Make sure you check out his new comedy album, “Happy Pappy” available now! Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Marc moved to Toronto in 2009 and has since been part of NXNE, YYComedy, FunnyFest, the Brantford Comedy Festival, “Funniest Clean Comedian on the Lakeshore”, and the Bollywood Monster Mashup, where he opened for Aparna Nancherla. He was the second place winner of the Flat Tire Comedy Competition, a semi-finalist in both the Toronto Comedy Brawl and Prove You're A Comic Competition, has appeared on SiriusXM Radio as part of “Canada Laughs,” and was chosen to host the Ontario Celebration Zone as part of the PanAm Games. His Canadian Comedy Award nominated sketch troupe Vest of Friends are the winners of the Best-of-the-Fest Award at both the Toronto and Montreal SketchFests, and were named one of Bite.ca's “10 Canadian Sketch Troupes You Need To See Right Now.” He is an improv tournament champion at both the TheatreSports Micetro and Toronto Beerprov, and got to be part of The BooProv Halloween Spooktacular with Colin Mochrie. With material that's not out to offend, his few goofy ideas mixed among a ton of personal anecdotes all culminate towards a ton of laughs and some real optimism! In Episode 90, I sit down with comedian Bobby Knauff and we get a surprise appearance by his hilarious puppet, Andre The Alien. In this episode, Bobby shares his passion for puppets, his creative process for writing jokes for himself and Andre, and his inspirations in the world of comedy. We also delve into Bobby's early experiences in comedy, his battle with addiction, and how comedy played a vital role in his journey to sobriety, including the transformative impact of Michael Pollan's book, "Change Your Mind," and the role of psychedelics in his healing. Originally from Thunder Bay, Bobby Knauff moved to Toronto in 2006 to pursue his comedy career. With achievements such as winning the 2012 Toronto Comedy Brawl, being a semi-finalist in SiriusXM Canada's Next Top Comic in 2013, and headlining with Yuk Yuks on a cross-Canada tour, Bobby has made a name for himself in the comedy scene. He has appeared on notable platforms like The Fresh Meat Showcase at The Second City, NXNE Music & Comedy Fest, JFL42, and has had numerous appearances on Much Music and MTV Canada. Additionally, Bobby's debut album, "Rock Bottom," released in May 2020, received widespread acclaim and can be heard on satellite radio and various streaming platforms. Beyond stand-up comedy, Bobby's versatile talents extend to commercials, guest roles on television, and voice acting in cartoons. He is also one half of the sketch duo "The Two Sues" alongside Josh Stone and is a skilled puppeteer, bringing joy and laughter with his puppet buddy Andre.
