The April 19, 1976 issue of Sports Illustrated had Ray Floyd on the cover after he absolutely ran away with the Masters, winning by eight shots at 17-under par in a wire-to-wire masterpiece. The story made it clear this was a different Floyd — more mature and more locked in than ever— while still giving props to guys like Ben Crenshaw who finished second. It was classic Augusta in the middle of the Bicentennial spring. On the baseball side, SI was excited about the Giants' fresh start after new owners kept the team in San Francisco and packed the house for Opening Day. But while there was new found enthusiasm in SF, Brooks Robinson's days were nearing an end in Baltimore. The greatest defensive third baseman ever, was still grinding at the plate even as his hitting had slipped from his MVP days. quite a bit. The issue also had some wild stuff — a diver going into the giant shark tank at the New England Aquarium, Honest Pleasure looking like a Derby monster, and notes on the Yankee Stadium renovation. It was a fun snapshot of spring sports in 1976, mixing big moments with the raw edge of the era. And speaking of raw, the NHL section delivered with the “Week of Disgrace on the Ice,” where multiple Philadelphia Flyers players were charged with assault after a violent playoff game in Toronto. The piece also introduced readers to Pete Demers, the longtime head trainer for the Los Angeles Kings, who later earned his place in the LA Kings Hall of Fame, the PHATS Hall of Fame, the Rhode Island Hockey Hall of Fame, and the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame. Demers was the guy stitching up faces and taping ankles through all the blood and chaos of 1970s hockey — a true behind-the-scenes legend. Pete joins us on the podcast to talk about his time in the NHL, how tough the players were that he treated back then and how the players lined up at his door for treatment in order to play. He talks to us about how Wayne Gretzky almost cost him his job after his trade to L.A. and how the difference between owners Jack Kent Cooke and Bruce McNall. And he tells us how a beer he kept in his drawer for almost 20 years was the best tasting beer he ever had in 2012. It's a week of golf, horse racing, baseball, and the crazy days of 1970's NHL action relived by a man who saw it all... Pete Demers on the Past Our Prime podcast. Learn more about your ad choices.

This podcast is brought to you by Outcomes Rocket, your exclusive healthcare marketing agency. Learn how to accelerate your growth by going to outcomesrocket.com Even with insurance, nearly half of Americans delay care simply because they can't find a doctor in their network. In this episode, Eric Demers, CEO of Madaket Health, talks about the growing issue of healthcare access and cost in the U.S., even for insured individuals. Madaket commissioned a national survey to better understand how bad provider data impacts patients, finding that nearly half of Americans delay care because they can't find in-network providers, especially millennials, who are more likely to seek alternative care routes. Demers explains that the root cause is outdated, inaccurate, and poorly synchronized provider data, worsened by the lack of national standards and inconsistent systems across payers and providers. Even vertically integrated health systems suffer from internal data mismatches. Madaket Health aims to fix this by acting as a data bridge between payers and providers, leveraging its platform, used by over 80% of U.S. providers, to keep information up-to-date and aligned, improving directories and patient access to care. Tune in to learn how broken provider data is quietly undermining healthcare access and what's being done to fix it! Resources: Connect with and follow Eric Demers on LinkedIn. Are you a GOODIST? Identified by mindbody pioneer Dr. John Sarno, goodism is a personality trait where highly conscientious people put pressure on themselves to be "good" at all times (and to be perceived as "good" and selfless by everyone). Some other characteristics of goodism include: putting others' needs and desires above your own, most or all of the time getting your sense of self-value from being "needed" by others finding it intolerable when someone else criticizes you, gets mad, or disagrees with you (and so trying to avoid this at all costs) playing the role of peacemaker in others' disagreements  going along with what others want, rather than making your voice and preferences clearly known avoiding conflict by not speaking up when others disappoint you or overstep your boundaries In this episode of INNER WORK, we'll explore this trait of goodism and how being a "goodist" can become a problem... because it leads you to suppress your authentic self and to give all of your energy and power away. If this discussion has intrigued you, I highly recommend reading Dr. Sarno's books The Mindbody Prescription and The Divided Mind. **************** You're lovingly invited to join my email community and get access to my free Akashic Records Mini Course + weekly newsletter: https://josephinehardman.com/akashic-records-intro/ Explore the next round of my Akashic Records Certification Program: https://josephinehardman.com/work-with-me/akashic-records-certification-program/ Connect through my website: https://josephinehardman.com Thank you for being here, doing your inner work, and leading the way for others with your light. As humans, we all have an ego self. This is the persona or identity we've developed (unconsciously, as part of our human development) to be able to cope, survive in the world, and maintain a certain appearance in front of others.   The job of your ego mind is to protect you, keep you safe, avoid change, and maintain the status quo - even if the status quo is not serving you. (Ego will always CLING to the familiar and old patterns.)    To try to keep you safe, your ego mind will use sneaky tactics - including making you doubt yourself, making you feel inadequate, and triggering fear when you try to expand beyond your comfort zone.   In this episode, we'll talk about fear and doubt as (counterintuitive) forms of ego protection, and how you can begin moving beyond these ego patterns that may hold you back.   You can watch this episode as a video here: https://youtu.be/lDsunj4W6as   Thank you for tuning in! The specific words, prayer, ritual, or method you use to access the Akashic Records are NOT as important as the frequency, energy, and state of being you're holding when you access them.   Your frequency matters above ALL else, and it includes: the level of openness, curiosity, and beginner's mind you're bringing to your readings how grounded & anchored you are in your physical body when accessing the Records (i.e., not using the Records for spiritual bypassing or to "escape" reality) the level of safety you feel in your body and nervous system the beliefs and thoughts you're holding about yourself, about the Records, about the process of accessing them (especially beliefs having to do with your worthiness & ability to access them) your capacity to recognize and dissolve ego mind interference your level of emotional regulation & stability how much you're trusting yourself and the Records   These are all essential components that make up your overall frequency.   They determine how deeply, how powerfully, and how effectively you're accessing the Records -- and, consequently, what kind of healing you experience while you're there.   This episode will support you with setting and holding a high-level frequency to POTENTLY access the Records and get the most from each journey there.   This episode is also available as a VIDEO TRAINING. One of the key ingredients that can "make or break" an Akashic Record reading is HOW you're formulating questions for the Records. There are some questions that can unlock potent healing, insights, and shifts when you're in the Records... ... and other questions that don't work as well, because:  they aren't appropriate for the Records (such as "should/shouldn't" questions) they're too general/broad they stay only at a surface level of insight they lead you to a dead-end This is why the kinds of questions you're asking -- and how you're asking them -- are both really important. I created this episode because one of my students recently asked some awesome questions about what we can ask the Records. In addition to giving you specific examples of what you can ask the Records, I walk you through some guidelines for formulating effective, impactful, powerful questions for the Records so you can get the MOST out of every reading.
