If you make it your obsession to treasure Christ above all else in Babylon, it will cost you dearly. Just ask Shadrack, Meshak, and Abednego. But it will be worth it. And the Lord will make sure you have what you need to remain faithful to him against all odds.Treasuring Christ in Babylon...1) The opposition we'll face2) The miracle we'll pray for3) The fellowship we'll receiveText: Daniel 3:1-30
Message from Bro. Ricky Cunningham on February 16, 2025
Embrace the challenges of following Jesus by living daily in the light of the Cross, where sacrificial love gives purpose to inevitable suffering.
On Sunday morning, Jared walked through Philippians 3 and reminded us of the promises we have in Christ Jesus. As the New Year brings new challenges, trials, and tribulation- look to Christ. He will hold you fast. We hope this message blesses you in the Lord. Originally January 5th, 2025. Jared Dearing. Covenant Church. Tuscaloosa, AL.
In today's reading, Emily Small reads through Luke 2:16-19, treasuring Christ and prompting us to reflect on what we hold dear in our spiritual journey.
Is it possible to enjoy the glitz, glamour, fun, and gifts of Christmas without being CONSUMED by them? It's the first day of the 3-part Christmas series here on the podcast, and I'm so excited to kick it off with a solo conversation about how to not be overwhelmed by the gift guides, budgets, you name it - and instead, behold Jesus. I'm talking to the one who feels like this year is anything but simple and giving some biblical and practical truth on how to keep what's first, well... first. I'll see you here next week for the second episode of the Christmas series, all about what Advent is, how it's really not that complicated, and how to integrate it with your family. You don't want to miss it. The best safeguard against being taken captive to vain philosophy and empty religion is knowing and treasuring Jesus Christ and all that He accomplished for us. Grace Community Church exists to build spiritually healthy people for ministry in the world. One of the ways that we pursue this mission is by gathering each Sunday for corporate worship, prayer, and biblical teaching. The corporate nature of this gathering is both edifying to the believer and a witness of God's grace to the world. Sermon speaker is Scott Patty unless otherwise noted.

Text: Colossians 2:1-5 Treasuring Christ Leads to True Community (2:1-2a) We have mutual encouragement in Christ because our hearts have been united in love by Christ. Treasuring Christ Leads to Understanding the Wisdom of Christ (2:2b-3) In Christ, we have access to the abundance of His sufficient wisdom and knowledge. Treasuring Christ Leads to Steady Resistance to Error (2:4) Because we possess Christ's wisdom, we are empowered to stand firm against persuasive, unbiblical teaching. Treasuring Christ Leads to Enduring Faith in Christ (2:5) We possess a lasting faith that rests on the solid foundation of Christ.
In stark contrast to our dark former life, as Christians we now have immeasurable blessings because of our union with Christ.
Christmas serves as a powerful reminder of Jesus' love for all humanity. In the story of the First Christmas, we see unlikely witnesses to the birth of a Savior… from shepherds—often considered outcasts, to Mary—a seemingly improbable choice to bring forth the Savior, to Joseph—an ordinary man from Bethlehem. How do we worship Christ while enjoying the Lord's Supper together? In this episode of Light + Truth, John Piper explores that question in 1 Corinthians 11:17–34.
This week's episode is a special edition where we feature a recorded radio program on this essential teaching of how to treasure Christ in our hearts above all else! Jesus tells us to "lay up our treasure in heaven." Why? Because wherever our treasure is, that is where our heart will be, and ultimately, that is his greatest interest, our heart! The greatest treasure our heart can hold is the loving, valuing, and desiring of Christ above everything else. But how can we do that? What does it look like to treasure Christ above all else? Write us at codeofmangen127@gmail.com A special thanks, as always, to Bruce Frye for the theme song, "Heart of a Champion." What does it mean to 'fix your eyes on Jesus' for individual believers and the church as a whole? This week, Jordan Thomas joins the Gary Wilkerson Podcast to discuss how individual Christians can only experience the full blessings of this command to fix our attention on our Savior when we are within a community. Cultural norms make this an unpopular idea, but we will not mature and grow more like Christ unless we are living with like-minded believers.View the show notes: https://wcm.link/gwp224c
