John's Gospel records Jesus using the Greek word paraclete four times, translated into English differently depending on the Bible version, e.g. Advocate, Helper, Comforter, Intercessor, Counsellor, Strengthener. Perhaps the best word for our experience of the Holy Spirit is Friend, and we better understand the other translations when seen through the lens of a close friend. We learn that the Holy Spirit is "another friend", the same as Jesus; that he is our "forever friend" - always with us; and that he is our closest friend - so close he is even within us. So what is your experience of the Holy Spirit right now? We can ask for a fresh filling with our Friend today.

Don't forget to grab your free scripture journal at PrayingChristianWomen.com/journal today! How do you defend yourself when the people you trusted most become the very ones seeking your downfall? Where do you turn when you need more than just a temporary helper, but a true advocate to stand beside you in the courtroom of life? In this devotional on Psalm 54, we walk through David's desperate prayer for defense—a Maskil written after being completely sold out by his own kindred, the Ziphites. We shift our focus from the sting of betrayal to the profound, ancient legal language of God as the "sustainer of our souls." We explore what it means for the Almighty to step into the role of our legal Defender, uncovering the beautiful thread that connects David's protector to Jesus's promise of the Holy Spirit. We move past surface-level comforts to the deeper truth: that God didn't just send an angel to assist you; He sent the Paraclete—another of the exact same kind—to live within you and plead your case before the Father. The sermon centers on Abraham's intercessory prayer for Sodom and Gomorrah as a profound illustration of God's justice, grace, and the believer's calling to holy living and persistent prayer. It highlights God's sovereign decree—chosen before creation—for His people to live in righteousness and justice, reflecting His character and fulfilling His redemptive purpose. Through Abraham's bold yet humble petitions, the sermon emphasizes that true intercession is not about manipulating God but aligning with His justice, recognizing human unworthiness, and trusting in His mercy. The passage calls believers, especially fathers and household leaders, to model priestly faithfulness by commanding their families in godliness and offering sacrificial, continual prayer for the lost, grounded in the assurance that Christ intercedes for us and God grants access to His throne. Ultimately, the message combines comfort in divine election with conviction in the necessity of holy obedience and intercessory faith.

In this episode I talk with Arlene Goldbard about her new book that I think takes on a quiet but consequential democratic problem: how, in unstable times, the hunger for certainty can slide into surrender—of discernment, of agency, and responsibility.Rather than offering answers or heroes, her book The Intercessor uses story to explore how people learn to stay in relationship, inquiry, and ethical choice without handing their power over to charismatic leaders, rigid belief systems, or the promise of spiritual or political shortcuts. In this conversation, we explore three deeply relevant themes:Intercession as a practice of discernment, and learning how to listen without disappearing yourself in the process. How artists and cultural workers can function as bridges , helping communities resist the pull toward false certainty. And repair as a practiced skill, not an abstract ideal, but rather personal, communal, and spiritual repair that only happens when people remain accountable to one another. You're right to call that out. The Silent Partner. We often remember the preacher most, but God remembers the intercessor more. This episode explores the sacred bond between the world-shaking Charles Finney and the man who labored in secret, Daniel Nash. We reflect on their legacy of fervent prayer and ask what it would take for a fallen nation to experience a fresh outpouring of divine grace today.------America Pray Now publishes a magazine on prayer that is free of charge and can be delivered directly to your home. John 17 ; 6-19
On Day 36 of our fast, Guest Intercessor Pastor Reginald Mack delivered a powerful and hope-filled word rooted in Philippians 1:6, reminding us to be confident of this very thing—that God, who began a good work in us, will perform it until completion. This encouraging session centered on assurance, endurance, and trust in God's faithfulness. Pastor Mack exhorted listeners to remain convinced that God will finish what He started and that each believer will receive their portion in due season. He spoke of an anointing to finish strong, even as God shakes foundations and prepares His people for new beginnings.Through inspiration and prophetic encouragement, this moment strengthened faith, renewed hope, and affirmed that the season ahead is marked by completion, confidence, and the fulfillment of God's work in our lives.

Inn this powerful and encouraging session, Pastor Richard Nickerson taught from 1 Samuel 30 and Joel 2, releasing a timely word on restoration and recovery. Drawing from Scripture, he emphasized the divine partnership between God and His people; God brings restoration, and we are empowered to recover what was lost. This teaching reminded listeners that recovery is not passive. Through God's restoring work, believers are given authority, strength, and clarity to pursue what was taken and reclaim what belongs to them. As we continue this season of consecration, this word affirmed that loss is not the end of the story and that God's restoration positions us for intentional recovery. Before closing in prayer, Pastor Nickerson offered a moving prayer over Overseer Azizah Morrison, acknowledging her call and assignment to lead God's people through this 40-day fast, and invited the community to pray for her as she has faithfully prayed for them. This session was both strengthening and affirming, calling God's people to step forward in faith, partnership, and expectation as restoration leads to recovery.
The fourth episode of the series "Walking with God" focuses on our relationship with Jesus Christ, God the Son. In this episode, Pastor Frances highlights several distinctions between God the Father and God the Son by explaining the ministry of God the Son for and within the Church. We hope this episode provides you with a deeper understanding of why Jesus is truly our Savior, Intercessor, Prince of Peace, Bread of Life, and our Big Brother. For more information visit: globalgraceministries.com/

On Day 20 of our fast, Prophet Reginal Mack led us into a powerful teaching and prophetic charge centered on 2 Timothy 1:6, calling us to stir up the gift of God within us. This session marked a significant moment in our consecration as we approached 21 days, a prophetic threshold signaling transition, completion, and new beginnings. This teaching focused on divine stirring, God awakening what has been dormant, reigniting spiritual capacity, and preparing His people for the closing of one season and the opening of another. As we near the 21-day mark of this fast, this word affirmed that endurance produces alignment and that consecration positions us for movement into a new era. This was a timely and weighty moment of teaching and prayer, reminding us that what God stirs in this season is not accidental, but purposeful, as He transitions His people forward.

Eugene Stowe explores why specific prayers often go unanswered and refutes "prosperity" theology. He argues that effective prayer must align with God's sovereign will, which humans cannot fully grasp. By linking Philippians, 1 John, and Romans, Stowe posits that the Holy Spirit acts as both an "Intercessor" and "Interceptor." When believers offer "improper" prayers outside God's plan, the Spirit intercepts and corrects them, substituting human desires with divine necessities. This process ensures God always supplies a believer's true needs, allowing them to trust the outcome even when it differs from their original request. Jesus Christ's present-day ministry, post-ascension, focuses on His role as heavenly High Priest, Mediator, and Intercessor, advocating for believers before God, presenting their prayers, and providing access to divine grace through His perfect sacrifice, while the Church, empowered by the Holy Spirit, continues His earthly work of spreading the Gospel and meeting people's needs. On Day 15 of our consecration, Elder Sybil Street led us into a powerful and timely teaching on the manifestation of God's strength. Drawing from 1 Chronicles 16:11, she reminded us that strength is not something we generate through effort or endurance, it is something we receive through God's presence. This teaching explored how different seasons and circumstances of life require different manifestations of God's strength. There are moments when we need sustaining strength, moments when we need stabilizing strength, moments when we need renewing strength, and moments when we need the quiet strength that carries us when we feel depleted. Elder Sybil emphasized that God does not offer a single expression of strength, but meets us with exactly the strength required for the season we are in.Rather than seeking solutions alone, we were invited to seek God's presence as our primary source of strength. This session reminded us that intimacy with God is not only comforting—it is empowering. His presence renews what has been worn down, steadies what has been shaken, and supplies strength where human capacity ends. This was a grounding, faith-filled teaching that reframed how we understand strength, presence, and dependence on God in the midst of consecration.
On Day 13 of the 40 Day Consecration fast, guest intercessor Executive Pastor Paulette Lundy, Esquire, leads a focused teaching and prayer centered on the Scripture, “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after.” This session emphasizes the necessity of single-minded devotion, right priorities, and intentional pursuit of God. Pastor Lundy addresses the danger of divided devotion and calls believers to renewed clarity, disciplined seeking, and wholehearted alignment with God as the fast continues.

As the fast enters Day 11, we begin a new phase with our guest intercessors. In this session, Evangelist Joyce Moon leads with a teaching from Psalm 51, calling believers into deeper consecration and intentional surrender. She teaches that receiving more of God requires giving Him more of ourselves through right choices, disciplined devotion, and the intentional building of a holy altar before the Lord. This time of teaching and prayer challenges listeners to examine their posture, establish sacred rhythms, and realign their lives with God's presence as the fast continues.
In Romans 8:33-39, we encounter one of the most powerful declarations in all of Scripture: nothing can separate us from God's love. This message takes us into the spiritual courtroom where we stand accused, yet remarkably justified. Through the vivid account of Joshua the high priest in Zechariah 3, we witness a profound picture of redemption—standing before God in filthy garments, with Satan as our accuser hurling true accusations, yet God Himself rebukes the enemy and clothes us in pure vestments. We learn that we have four key figures in our spiritual reality: a Judge who justifies rather than condemns, an Accuser who speaks truth about our failures, an Intercessor in the Holy Spirit who prays what we cannot articulate, and a Redeemer who exchanges His righteousness for our filth. The message challenges us to recognize that God's love isn't dependent on our circumstances—whether we face tribulation, distress, persecution, or any other trial. Paul's declaration that we are 'more than conquerors' isn't empty optimism but a theological reality grounded in Christ's finished work. The story of Darlene Dibler Rose in a Japanese concentration camp illustrates how God's presence remains tangible even in our darkest moments. As we move into a new year, we're reminded that our hope transcends temporary suffering because this world isn't our final destination—we have an eternal reunion awaiting us with both our Savior and our loved ones.**Sermon Notes:**1. **Introduction:** - Overview of Romans 1-8, focusing on living in Christ. - Today's focus: Romans 8:33-39, a pinnacle passage.2. **Key Scriptural Insights:** - **Romans 8:33-39:** - Assurance that no charges can stand against God's elect as God justifies. - Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. - **Zechariah 3:1-10 Vision:** - Joshua the high priest accused by Satan. - God's intervention to cleanse and justify.3. **Spiritual Warfare Context:** - The presence of a judge, an accuser, an intercessor, and a redeemer. - Satan's accusations are true but overshadowed by God's justification.4. **God's Justification and Love:** - Our righteousness in Christ replaces our polluted garments. - In Christ, we are clothed with salvation and righteousness.5. **Role of the Redeemer:** - Redemption detailed through the story of the prodigal son. - We are brought back as sons and daughters, not slaves.6. **Inseparable Love in Trials:** - Paul's resilience through tribulations as evidence of God's steadfast love. - Testimony of Darlene Dibler Rose's faith in adversity.7. **Living as Conquerors:** - We are more than conquerors through Christ—empowered to overcome worldly challenges.**Practical Applications:**1. **Strengthen Faith in Trials:** - Regularly remind yourself of God's inseparable love during hardships. 2. **Embrace Your Identity in Christ:** - Reflect on being justified and clothed in righteousness; live out this new identity.3. **Exhibit Christ's Love Daily:** - Let the love of God shine in your interactions, especially in trying situations.4. **Practice Solitude and Prayer:** - Set aside noise to deepen your relationship with God and hear His voice.**Discussion Questions:**1. In this urgent and powerful message, Dr. Michael Youssef proclaims the unshakable confidence believers can have in uncertain times—because Jesus Christ is interceding for us at the right hand of God the Father. Teaching from John 17, Dr. Youssef highlights three vital truths: Christ prays for His glorification, for the sanctification of His disciples, and for the unity of the Church. These are not mere theological concepts—they are promises rooted in the inerrant Word of God and fulfilled through the divine authority of Christ. As the world trembles with fear and falsehood, the true believer stands secure in Christ’s eternal priesthood, clinging to the Truth that sanctifies and unites. The future may be unknown—but the Savior is known, and He holds it all.

This Christmas sermon explores the profound hope found in Jesus Christ as the light that penetrates a world of pain and moral darkness. Drawing from the ancient prophecies of Isaiah and Psalm 110, the text highlights how the Messiah was foretold as both a sovereign King and a compassionate High Priest long before his birth. The speaker emphasizes that while humans often reach for insufficient comforts during times of crisis, Christ serves as a "sunrise" that offers a complete perspective on life's difficulties. By stepping down from his heavenly throne to experience human suffering, Jesus became an intercessor who sympathizes with our weaknesses and offers unmerited forgiveness. Ultimately, the source serves as an invitation to rely on this divine authority to navigate the complexities and "dark woods" of the human experience.Support the showThanks for listening! In this teaching, Pastor Azizah Morrison takes us into Genesis 17 and 18 to reveal Abraham not just as the father of nations, but as one of Scripture's earliest and most mature intercessors. This message explores the marks of a true intercessor , walking with God, standing in His counsel, praying from identity instead of fear, and partnering with Heaven in bold, confident intercession.Stay for the full prayer as Pastor Azizah prays for every watchman, gatekeeper, and intercessor on the line, asking God to deepen their walk, refine their discernment, and strengthen their authority in prayer. This episode will ground you, stretch you, and remind you of the weight you carry as one trusted to stand before God on behalf of others.

Sermon Summary — “Jesus the Great Intercessor” Main Theme: Jesus Christ stands eternally as the Great Intercessor — the one who steps between humanity and judgment, taking our place, wrapping Himself in our condition, and offering access to God through His continual intercession. 1. Defining Intercession Pastor Denis begins by distinguishing intercession from ordinary prayer. All prayer is not intercessory, though intercession may happen during prayer. The Greek roots of “intercession” convey two ideas: To come between or to obstruct/prevent something harmful. To be wrapped up in — implying full personal involvement. An intercessor steps into the gap—on behalf of others—to obstruct harm or judgment and to bring about God's will, not personal desires. Example: Esther interceded for her people, risking her life to stand between them and destruction. True intercessors, like her, are willing to “wrap themselves” into a situation regardless of cost. 2. The Nature of True Intercession True intercession is not “safe” or comfortable, but rooted in faith and obedience. It is not motivated by emotion or pity, but by alignment with the will of God. It involves risk without fear, because “to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Pastor Denis uses a story of a mayor taking his mother's punishment to illustrate substitution — a reflection of what Jesus does for us. 3. Biblical Examples of Intercessors Job 9:32–33 – Job longs for a “mediator” (daysman) to stand between him and God — a foreshadowing of Christ. Elijah (James 5:17–18) – Elijah prayed for drought and then rain, aligning his intercession with God's word, even though it brought hardship upon himself too. True intercession seeks spiritual restoration above physical comfort. Moses – Offered his own life for Israel's forgiveness (“If you destroy them, destroy me too”). Shows intercession as willingness to bear another's burden or consequence. 4. Modern Application — Interceding with God's Will Sometimes God calls believers to pray difficult prayers, not just “bless them” prayers — to ask for repentance, breaking, and surrender. True intercessors pray for God's will, not people's preferences. Intercession might require standing against popular opinion or suffering personally for the sake of truth. 5. The Great Intercessor: Jesus Christ Hebrews 2 reveals that Jesus is the ultimate mediator who: Took on flesh and “tasted death for everyone.” Fully identified with humanity, walking through temptation, pain, and rejection. Now “lives to make intercession” for us continually before the Father. Jesus is the only one who: Stepped between judgment and humanity to absorb sin's penalty. Wrapped Himself in human weakness to redeem it. Now stands as our refuge, mediator, and hope. Key Insight: Saying “I can't overcome” or “I can't change” is not humility — it denies the power of Christ's intercession. Every believer must personally step into what Jesus has already provided. 6. Call to Action Seek Jesus first, before friends, family, or social support. Develop a personal relationship with Him — He's awake at every hour, listening and interceding. Make Him the center, not a part, of your life. Everything else should revolve around Him. Understand that Jesus' intercession is ongoing, not a one-time act — He is continually standing in the gap for us. Closing Message Jesus, the Great Intercessor, has already obstructed judgment, absorbed our punishment, and secured eternal life for those who believe. Now, He calls us to reflect His nature — to stand in the gap for others, to align with His will, and to give ourselves wholly to the purposes of God. “He lives to make intercession — not because He must be convinced, but because that's who He is.”
Jesus died for your sins, rose again, ascended to heaven, and will one day return. So what is He doing now? And why does it matter? In his deeply personal and powerful message, “Jesus, Our Intercessor and Advocate,” Pastor Harrison Conley explores Christ's ongoing ministry of prayer. You'll discover how, through intercessory prayer, Jesus is strengthening you through trials, securing your salvation, and carrying you all the way home. Listen and be encouraged that you are never alone—because Jesus is always interceding, and His prayers never fail!
