At the beginning of a vision or ministry, there is a coexistence of power and weakness. Bishop uses the metaphor of light and darkness (John 1:9-14) to illustrate that people often struggle to accept the "light" when it arrives in a vulnerable, human form—the "flesh".The Challenge of Reception: Bishop highlights the tragedy that a leader's ability to impact lives is often blocked not by a lack of grace, but by a lack of reception from their own people. He warns against relying on external opinions or "googling" leaders, which can prevent people from receiving the true spiritual transfer intended for them.Suffering and Leadership: Using the apostle Paul as a biblical reference, the Bishop explains that true visionaries often carry personal "infirmities," "reproaches," and "needs". He argues that the Kenyan church is often weakened by opinionated individuals who mistake perfection for authority, whereas real spiritual growth comes from accepting and walking with leaders through their human vulnerabilities.Feeding on the Flesh: Referencing John 6, Bishop explains that just as Jesus offered his "flesh" to his disciples, followers must learn to "eat" the vision of their leaders—including the uncomfortable parts of their lives—to access the eternal life and power embedded in that relationship.

Fatherhood often comes with unseen pressures, quiet sacrifices, and the lingering question, “Am I doing enough?” In this Father's Day message, dads are reminded that the legacy they leave behind isn't found in possessions, achievements, or even perfect parenting—it's found in the faith, values, and example they pass to the next generation. All sin separates us from God. Some sins—pride, envy, wrath, sloth, greed, lust, gluttony—can destroy us. Today we're going to conclude by talking about living in the power of virtue. We want to avoid the assumption that the answer to vice is simply to exhibit virtue… to “just be good.” Living in victory over your brokenness does not come from a better you, it comes from a new you who is transformed by Jesus through the Holy Spirit. As we reflect on its past and looks toward an uncertain future, it emphasizes unchanging truths that anchor believers in every season: God is faithful, humanity is imperfect, and the mission of the church remains the same—to faithfully live out the gospel in a changing world. Rather than clinging only to the past or focusing solely on what's ahead, believers are called to hold both in tension, learning from past faithfulness while stepping forward in obedience today. Our sermon series continues through the end of Philippians second chapter. After Paul instructs us to work out our own salvation, he tells us how- "without grumbling or disputing." He then references two brothers in the faith who exhibit christlikeness. As we consider Paul's instruction, let us fix our eyes on Christ, our perfect example.
