This one might get you a little bit steamy or rather it might actually be a mood killer because the woke mob media can't let simple folk enjoy sexy anthropomorphized candy mascots. Yes, you read that right. There was a bit of kerfuffle a while back on the internet because Mars Inc., the makers of M&M's decided to redesign their mascots and in doing so they reduced the femininity and sex appeal of the green and brown M&M. Now while we have to deal with the fact that Tucker Carlson went on a huge rant about how he can no longer derive sexual pleasure from these mascots, could there be another reason why Mars launched this rebrand? Fellow podcast person Alex joins me this week as we get deep in the topic. We’re back! Only a few weeks into 2021 and already I don’t know how this year will go. I’m still holding out that it will be an improvement over the last. Anyway, back to the podcast. This week I’m joined by the new voices of fellow podcast people Roxanne and Megan! We take a look at the Harry Potter film series. That’s right all 8 films will be discussed so strap in for some over analysis of a mostly kids film series! If you’re asking yourself ‘what about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them?’ you’re out of luck because this is only about the main series. One small, minor note. As you may have read from the title this is part 1. This episode will focus on the first four films. Stay tuned for next week’s episode for the rest. That’s all for this week. Oh and one other, small, minor note. Don’t forget to check out the podcast October Jones & Fish with Legs featuring fellow podcast people Dexter and Alex. They are also back for 2021 so give them a listen! Thank you for listening! Peace.

We’re back! All this podcasting sure does make me hungry. I sure could go for some food to fill me right up. Speaking of food, have you ever thought about why some foods are praised above others? Why is it that French cuisine is so highly regarded? What’s the proper way to make a pizza? Is it New York style? Chicago? Somewhere in Italy? So many food related questions! That’s right in this episode we take a look at the show Ugly Delicious. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend you give it a watch. We don’t normally ask the “why” about food other than why isn’t it in my belly. Here are some articles I mention: https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/netflix-s-ugly-delicious-succeeds-because-david-chang-understands-food-ncna857151 http://reappropriate.co/2018/05/digging-into-the-racial-politics-of-ugly-delicious/ That’s it for this week! We’re back! In this episode I’m joined by fellow podcast people Dexter and Alex. As you might guess from the title we’re talking about online shopping. It can be the worst freaking thing and what makes it so back is the rise of the speculative market. Anything can be the target of making a quick buck. It becomes super frustrating to buy things online when sites get clogged with traffic and people can buy up all the stock with bots. Alex also has issues with regards to the environmental impact from things like 2 day shipping. That’s it for this week! Thank you to special podcast people Dexter and Alex for joining me. We’re back! In this episode I am joined by fellow podcast people Dexter and Alex and we discuss Marshall McLuhan's media theory “the medium is the message.” Now don’t worry. I can see some of you are already sweating bullets at the thought of theory but we don’t go academic on you or anything. But we do talk about how this can be used to understand the cultural impacts of certain aspects of our society. We give a definition in the ep but if would like to read it here: "a medium affects the society in which it plays a role not by the content delivered over the medium, but by the characteristics of the medium itself." Of course you can always check out McLuhan’s work if this idea piques your interest. Here is the article I mention where the New York Times profiled someone alt right: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/25/us/ohio-hovater-white-nationalist.html That’s it for this week! We’re back! This week I’m joined by fellow podcast person Alex who is suspiciously without other podcast person Dexter. Oh well. In this episode we take a look at how corporations try to present themselves as though they’re just like your friends. They’re just so darn relatable it's hard to even think of them as companies. Make no mistake, they are not your friend, no matter how good those twitter roasts you might read are. But why do they wanna be relatable in the first place? Also note that this is a two part episode. Check back next week for the second part of our discussion. We’re back! This week I’m joined by fellow podcast people Dexter and Alex. In this spooky episode we discuss the finer points of gatekeeping. Now I know what you’re thinking. Why is it spooky? We recorded this on Halloween, an obviously spooky day. Speaking of recording, the audio on this one may sound a little off due to some technical issues experienced. Back to gatekeeping. It’s basically when you try to dictate who belongs in a community. Who is a real fan if you will. Also, I might’ve gatekept during the episode. So there’s that. We then go on to changing opinions. How exactly does one do so? I tell a story of one opinion I held and how I came to change it. That’s it for this week! Special thanks to spooky podcast people, Dexter and Alex. We’re back! This week we’re looking at historical accuracy on film, which you should know because it’s right there in the title. Is it important, though? Do we need to know that Napoleon and George Washington high fived? Ok so that didn’t actually happen. If you saw it in a movie would you be like, “Napoleon and Washington never met.” Fellow podcast person Christian joins me to find out. We’re back! Have you ever gotten that feeling, like deep down, where you just know that you’re right about something? But then you come across some information that categorically disproves what you thought. Welcome to truthiness my friend. First coined by Stephen Colbert in 2005, truthiness is when you believe something that feels true even if it isn’t supported by fact. This week we examine why people are going with their gut instead of what’s in their brain. That’s it for this week! Thanks for listening. Peace.

We're back! I used to have a teacher who would, during exams, say, "a stroke of genius scheduled for 5 minutes after the exam." I found it incredibly annoying but sometimes it does happen. Anyway, if you didn't know the LA Lakers are the 2020 NBA champions and LeBron James got his fourth ring. So the question is who's the GOAT? James or MJ? What about James' legacy? Wait what? Yes, watching ESPN or FS1 that's all you hear. Yelling about how good James is or isn't. Day in, day out. Is he better than Jordan? Is he washed? Why all this discussion at high decibels? We’re back! This week I revisit the Air Jordan 1. If you remember our very first episode (if you don’t it’s ok) I mentioned that it wasn’t really banned. That hasn’t changed but what has is now people are realizing this but are just saying a different shoe was the REAL banned shoe. Once again it’s time to set the record straight: None of the shoes Michael Jordan played in were banned. What would lead a shoe to getting banned anyway? I’m glad you asked because I take a look at what might cause a shoe to be banned. You might think a certain product has gone up in price compared to 5 years ago, but have you taken inflation into account? If you haven’t then we’ve got a problem because you have to remember that money loses value over time. People use The Simpsons as a way of stating predictions for some reason. But I disagree completely with the idea that the show offers predictions. Instead the show has made references to certain things that were relevant or recent to when a specific aired and because everything is cyclical some of these things come back around again.
