In a tech-driven world, can businesses stay human? Dan Sullivan and Jeffrey Madoff explore how to balance automation with genuine connection. From Chaplin to Spartacus, they explore resisting dehumanization, celebrating the human touch in business, and reclaiming creativity. They also reveal how to ensure technology elevates—rather than diminishes—your entrepreneurial spirit. Show Notes: Tech can empower or dehumanize. Confidence and human connection are crucial. Customers crave real conversations, not automated prompts. Knowing how to ask the right questions is an art form. Real solutions that address people's pain points require empathy and personal connection. Layoffs aren't a sustainable path to success (or profitability). Inflating profits by slashing costs is a short-sighted strategy that executives often resort to when preparing a company for sale. The most interesting people are always the ones who defy conformity. The U.S. founders aimed to create a society where individuals could thrive. Prioritizing quality, service, and the human touch is a smart business plan. The Chair of Clare County Council's housing committee has accused the Government of inflating its housing delivery figures. It comes as the number of households on Clare's social housing list has climbed above 2,900 for the first time in over two years. Department of Housing figures indicate 32,695 new homes were completed nationwide last year while 11,939 social homes were delivered by approved housing bodies and local authorities. Shannon Independent Councillor Gerry Flynn believes nowhere near enough social homes are coming on stream to cater for the level of demand.
Welcome back to the show! In this episode, Steve discusses very little about the consequences of getting older and the ever-increasing bill situation for aging Americans. It seems common sense to look into the future and envision a time when all of your bills will be under control, your home will be paid off, student loans will be eradicated, and all the furniture you ever need will be purchased. This thought process is a trap, though. Let Steve guide you through a new reality's discovery and recovery phase. Please remember that Steve loves emails! Prioritization and Self-Worth: Keys to Fulfillment In my coaching sessions, I often delve into what I consider the cornerstone of daily life: prioritization or values-based living. How we structure our day, what we choose to prioritize, ultimately shapes our lives. This aspect is not merely about time management but also about nurturing our self-worth, a fundamental element in our overall well-being. Self-worth is the foundation upon which we build our lives. It encompasses both self-esteem and self-value, the balance between feeling esteemed and recognizing our inherent value. While self-esteem may fluctuate, influenced by external factors and internal dialogue, self-worth remains steadfast, rooted in strength, resilience, and authenticity. It's crucial to acknowledge that for every high, there's a corresponding low. Inflating our self-esteem excessively can lead to inevitable crashes, followed by feelings of inadequacy. Conversely, dwelling in low self-esteem undermines our potential. True self-worth lies in recognizing our inherent value, independent of external achievements or validation. Our actions speak volumes about our priorities. Despite our aspirations, our daily behaviors reveal our true desires. It's easy to declare lofty goals—wealth, health, fulfilling relationships—but our actions tell a different story. Left unchecked, we default to habits that may not align with our aspirations, leading to stagnation or regression. Decision-making is a constant in our lives, with thousands of choices presented daily. Many decisions are automatic, driven by ingrained habits or societal norms. Yet, the distinction lies in discerning between short-term gratification and long-term fulfillment. Choosing immediate pleasures over sustainable growth may provide instant satisfaction but jeopardizes our future well-being. Striking a balance between present enjoyment and future goals is paramount. It's essential to savor the moment while remaining mindful of our long-term aspirations. Each decision carries weight, influencing our trajectory. By consciously evaluating our choices, we navigate towards a fulfilling future without sacrificing present joy. Our internal dialogue shapes our reality more than external circumstances. How we speak to ourselves—the language we use, the tone we adopt—impacts our self-perception and, consequently, our actions. Mastering the art of self-talk involves understanding the rules of the game, cultivating a supportive and empowering inner dialogue. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/chris-walker70/message

This week, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was higher in January than analysts had been predicting. The markets didn't like the news, much like consumers. The question remains: how much longer will inflation be a problem? If higher interest rates can't do it alone, what must happen in the economy? And from what Washington has been telling us, the economy has been chugging along nicely. In this week's Trading Perspectives, Sam and John discuss the recent inflation and their thoughts on where prices are headed over the next twelve months.
Were 7,000 reviews for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League scrubbed from Steam by Valve or developer Rocksteady Studios? That's what's been alleged, but did it actually happen? If so, why would Steam allow that many reviews to go missing? Were the reviews actually INFLATING the positive score instead of "review bombing" the game? ➡️ Tip Jar and Fan Support: http://ClownfishSupport.com ➡️ Official Merch Store: http://ShopClownfish.com ➡️ Official Website: http://ClownfishTV.com ➡️ Audio Edition: https://open.spotify.com/show/6qJc5C6OkQkaZnGCeuVOD1 ➡️ Gaming News: https://open.spotify.com/show/0A7VIqE3r5MQkFgL9nifNc Additional Context: The controversy surrounding "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League" (SS:KTJL) seems to have taken another dramatic turn with allegations that around 7,000 reviews were scrubbed from its Steam page. In the digital age, where user reviews can significantly influence a game's reputation and commercial success, such a claim raises eyebrows and a flurry of questions about integrity, transparency, and the mechanisms in place to manage user feedback. Steam, the digital distribution platform operated by Valve, is a major hub for PC gaming, where user reviews are an integral part of the ecosystem. These reviews help gamers make informed decisions and offer developers feedback. However, the system is not without its challenges, particularly when it comes to "review bombing" — a practice where large numbers of users leave negative reviews en masse to artificially lower a game's ratings, often in response to issues unrelated to the game's quality or content. In the case of SS:KTJL, the situation appears to be the inverse of the typical review bombing scenario. Allegations suggest that the missing reviews were, in fact, inflating the game's positive score. If true, this would be an unusual twist, as manipulation efforts are generally assumed to tank a game's rating rather than boost it. The reasons behind such a move could range from attempts to salvage the game's reputation following its critically panned launch and reported technical issues to more strategic efforts to influence consumer perception and sales positively. The question of why Steam or Rocksteady Studios (the developer behind SS:KTJL) would allow or facilitate the removal of such a significant number of reviews hinges on the specifics of the situation. Steam has mechanisms in place to detect and address anomalous review activity to maintain the integrity of its review system. If these reviews were deemed to violate Steam's guidelines or were flagged as part of an orchestrated campaign to manipulate scores, Steam might intervene to remove these reviews to preserve the authenticity of the user feedback system. However, without concrete evidence or official statements from Valve or Rocksteady Studios, the details of what happened remain speculative. Both Valve and Rocksteady have policies addressing review manipulation and ensuring the Steam platform remains a reliable source for user feedback. An official investigation or statement would be required to clarify the circumstances under which these reviews were allegedly removed and to address the concerns and speculation from the gaming community. This incident, whether confirmed or debunked, underscores the ongoing challenges digital platforms face in managing user-generated content and maintaining trust with their user base. It also highlights the high stakes of online reviews in the gaming industry, where perception can quickly become reality, influencing a game's success or failure in a highly competitive market. Recent data shows the average scores of Grade 12 students have risen significantly in the past 15 years. Universities in Ontario have seen an increase in applicants with averages over 90 per cent. Experts have speculated that such a spike could be resulting from educational changes like de-streaming and the growth of online learning, a shifting perceived value of post-secondary education, or a new generation of tech-savvy students. Are students just smarter, or working harder? Is grade inflation damaging? If grades no longer distinguish students, what will?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
State funding for public defenders is being scrapped by Governor Gavin Newsom, who ran for office on a platform of reforming the criminal legal system. While over-funding an already-inflated policing budget over false claims of a retail theft crisis – to the tune of $300 million – the Governor has announced $40 million in cuts to public defense funds that were intended to support reducing the state's prison population. There is a mathematical aspect to economics, but it's not the fundamental core. Mathematics is just about taking what we observe and know and reducing it to a formula. The underlying principles of economics are actually the fun part and not mathematically oriented. Mike Winther focuses on these underlying principles in this lecture. He spends the first part teaching us economics. The best way to learn is to teach, and his focus for the next part of this lecture is teaching us how to teach economics. The rules of how you run a household, business, or nation is the study of economics. Mike kicks things off talking about micro and macro economics as he helps increase our understanding while making economics fun. You'll Learn: [01:36] Economics or the rule or law of the house. [03:03] Microeconomics is the study of a household or a business or industry. Macroeconomics is the economics of an entire industry or nation. [04:42] How economic and fiscal issues are also moral issues. [08:45] The concept of capital. It's a means of production. It's also excess production or profit. [11:58] How productivity is a spiritual and economic obligation. [17:48] We are better off having more goods and services, not more money. [23:31] The free market where people buy and trade at will. [24:42] Socialism was prescribed and advocated by Karl Marx. Communism is a subset of socialism. [28:02] Degrees of free market versus degrees of socialism. [28:31] Socialist capitalism is called monopolistic capitalism. The free market is competitive capitalism. [28:52] With capitalism both parties benefit from any voluntary exchange. [33:09] God ordains and speaks highly of private property and ownership. [36:01] Karl Marx steps to socialize a nation. A lot of them have to do with property rights. [37:27] Some of the steps include abolition of property and land, a heavy progressive or graduated income tax, abolition of all right of inheritance, confiscation of property, centralization of credit, centralize transportation, factories and production owned by the state, organized workforces, redistribution of the population, free education for all children. [42:23] How socialism is actually incompatible with nature. [47:16] Inflating the currency reduces the value of people's savings. [47:48] If we increase the money supply by 10%, prices will go up by 10%. [48:17] Milton Friedman and The Chicago School of Economics. [48:42] The Austrian School is the most free market school of economics. [49:13] Time to talk about teaching economics. If we want our kids to learn this, we need to be interested in it ourselves. [50:00] An example of teaching kids the idea of mutual benefit. [57:39] Socialism is redistribution of wealth. Today's question comes from John who writes: "You have answered a question for me in the past and is was well received for me. Next question is I have heard a few different people say that back in the 80s, the debt was inflated away. I only know how to pay down debt. I don't understand how debt can become inflated away? Saving Elephants | Millennials defending & expressing conservative values
The name Edmund Burke is used quite liberally on the Saving Elephants podcast as host Josh Lewis makes no bones about being a “Burkean” conservative. But who was this Irish statesman, economist, and philosopher? What were his contributions to conservative thought? Why does Josh hold him in such high regard? And why do some conservatives argue there's no place for Burke in conservatism? Rather than inviting one guest to tackle these pressing questions, Josh explores the various conversations had on the podcast with past guests about Burke to help us navigate this rather complex and often misunderstood political thinker. The lineup includes: Wes Siler Podcast appearance: 71 – Exploring Burke with Wes Siler Wes is the founder and Director of The Burkean Conservative, a website, social media presence, and video platform that produces content focused on educating and expanding the conservative movement on the basis of Edmund Burke's principles. Jonah Goldberg Podcast appearance: 82 – Ruminating Remnants with Jonah Goldberg Jonah Goldberg hosts The Remnant, a podcast featuring a “Cannonball Run”-style cast of stars, has-beens, and never-weres to address the most pressing issues of the day and of all-time, mixing history, pop culture, rank-punditry, political philosophy, and, at times, shameless book-plugging, and the nudity is (almost) always tasteful. In October of 2019 Goldberg co-launched and became founding editor of the online opinion and news publication The Dispatch. He was the founding editor of National Review Online, and from 1998 until 2019 he was an editor at National Review. A prolific writer, Goldberg writes a weekly column about politics and culture for the Los Angeles Times as well as a frequent “newsletter” The G-File. Former President Donald Trump is standing trial yet again. This time it's in a civil case in New York City, where he's accused of inflating the value of his real estate empire. A week before the trial began, Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that Trump, his children, and his company deceived banks, insurers, and others by exaggerating his net worth. Trump had called out the determination early on. In order to come to the conclusion, he says the judge put the value of Mar-a-Lago at $18 million. Trump claims otherwise, and alleges that if anything, his properties may be undervalued. He argues Mar-a-Lago is worth “at least a billion, maybe $1.5 billion.” So what's really going on? We'll discuss more in this episode of Crossroads. ⭕️

Ritu started her e-commerce journey over 10 years ago, sharing her knowledge on over 100 podcasts, blogs, and conferences, including Global Sources Summit, The Billion Dollar Seller Summit, and The Prosper Show. In this episode… Amazon sellers use PPC data to determine their cost of advertising. Inflated data leads to overspending and wasting away profits. So how can you avoid sabotaging your advertising campaigns? Business leader and PPC guru Ritu Java of PPC Ninja recommends these three strategies: Devise a PPC budget, caution sponsored display ads, and perform periodic audits. Regarding a PPC budget, Ritu warns against allowances based on your competitors' TACoS. Instead, she suggests using a formula to determine costs. Besides being expensive, sponsored display ads can be ineffective since it targets audiences with specific interests, and may fail to generate sales. Audits ensure your PPC data is accurate, identify potential issues, track campaign performances, and provide you peace of mind that you're in compliance with Amazon's policies.
