In this story, I share a "sales tool," which works in the workplace or our daily lives.  Deciding to make change little by little, not feeling like you have to tackle everything, learn everything, change everything, but instead methodically making change at our own pace. I learned the One Thing around 30 years ago.  It is time to pull it out and dust it off.  In sales, the change might be a simple process or step that you are forgetting or you may not be comfortable with, and so you either avoid it or mismanage the process.  In life, it can be our family time, our time with our precious children, or catching up with old friends.

A story of how learning sales enhanced everything about my life.  The importance of Shared Values and how learning what not to do can be more important than learning what to do. Listening more than you speak, confirming that what you are hearing is what you are hearing.  And, Sharpening your Saw Daily. 

Fly over states, and the people who live in these beautiful states are misperceived.  Having traveled and worked in many of the states in "middle America," I have learned that these Americans' have true grit; they work the soil and live for family and country with a place in the heart for all things American.  In this story, I tell you about a man named Harold, who left a lasting impression.

I learned so much from my children, and even more when they became adults.  Yesterday evening while talking with my son Mario, he said, Mom, you need to turn on ESPN and watch this speech. I gotta go. I was in a hotel….and even if I was at home, I honestly could not quickly locate ESPN…… so I grab the remote and tried to find ESPN channels…. I found it and turn it on, and it is Jimmy Valvano, who I quickly Googled on my blackberry to figure out why this was so important.  After watching Jimmy V’s speech, I sent a text back to Mario, it read AWESOME.Click here for the Story and Links to the Jimmy Valvano speech.

The story of a Father, his Beautiful Children, and an Angel in Concourse C.

The following story has been all over the internet, and I cannot locate the original writer. A successful Christian businessman was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business. Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children, he decided to do something different. He called all the young executives in his company together. “It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO,” he said. “I have decided to choose one of you.” 

Two great stories written so long ago, but still relevant and valuable today.   Unwitting the Devil – written in 1929 – released in 2011, the responder to the questions is either the Devil or Napoleon Hill’s “other self,” Napoleon Hill. 1929 would have never been ready for Unwitting the Devil, and so it was released in 2011. In Three Feet From Gold – Napoleon Hill tells the story of R.U. Darby who gave up his dreams of becoming rich by prospecting for gold, a mere three feet before a major gold vein was hit.

In a Shift in Paradigm, I give examples of How our Perceptions can hurt us in our Life, Family Life, and in Business Relationships.  It took years for me to tell this story without too much Emotion….

In Dad Had A Simple Life - I think about the Value of a Simple Life.  Meaning a less complicated life.  How less is more and learning what we "carry on" as we raise our children.  

Ignore the Noise and Move Forward.  I give thought to not listening to the noise around you, either directed at you or all around you.  Knowing where you want to go in life, where you have been and analyzing what is uniquely yours.

So, What's My Why?  Everyone has a Why.  Exploring how the words around us can stifle our growth in every part of our life. How we have the power to make more of our lives by understanding how those words impact our lives and how we can grow in spite of our flaws.

The story of how one life experience changed my perception and the meaning of the word Hope.  I wrote about this experience in June of 2011 while flying to Atlanta for an Internet conference.  I cannot tell you how many times I have read this story for motivation.
