Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

Join me for a humble look at a psalm that was very important to Jesus. He quoted it. He quoted it at His most difficult moment, twice. It starts with a feeling (forsakenness) and ends with a fact (it is finished). In between, we'll see whether the Father leans in or out. Does that make me a knucklehead, or does it make me NORMAL?Here's one:If you cannot (yet) serve the Lord with gladness, then serve along side someone who is serving the Lord with gladness. They will teach you how to be glad.Where do I find these people? You will find them in the bowels of the church serving the so-called-unlovely. Subscribe and comment : https://youtu.be/ksoUzAo2fXo

Remember with me today how NOT to be a "sheep-emergency". We'll let the wisdom and comfort and challenge of Psalm 23 wash over us. The Lord is my Shepherd. He has not come unarmed to His job. That is why we can be comforted. Then we'll turn to Psalm 73 and hear about a guy who ALMOST gets it wrong. His feet had ALMOST stumbled by admiring the wrong kind of people. He almost trades the precious for the passing. Whom have I in heaven but YOU?https://youtu.be/KqfBnVEF1bA

Getting a heart of wisdom requires some MATH. We are to number our days. ( I have 1648 days left, according to Psalm 90)Doing so affords us something precious: a soul that has the skill, aptitudes and ability to apply knowledge. Lots of things fade as the years go forward, wisdom is not supposed to be one of them. The AWARENESS of the days will increase the VALUE of those days. Start with the next 7 minutes by clicking here.https://youtu.be/7PMnx5DlBL8

We weren't created to be finite. We are infinite, eternal beings...just not here in this life. Someday, death will be no more.Meantime, Psalm 90 teaches us how long a typical life is. It is important, because there is stuff to do before the final bell tolls. Join me for 7 minutes today, at -3F, to find out how long you are going to live. https://youtu.be/FPSXEfLvHP4

Oh, if we could just make it to heaven by comparison. One of the great offenses of the gospel is that none of us is "good enough". We all fall short. The Bible notes that everybody, even our own beloved mothers, don't earn heaven by being "good enough." So is God thwarted in His desire that none should perish? Nope. He makes a way thru Jesus that gives access to all to call on Him. Our "earning" is discarded for His accomplishment. Join me for 7 minutes to see if being "better than Hitler" is enough. https://youtu.be/wTO84eP0V4s

The ancient Egyptians had a mythology that visually describes the big point today from Psalm 53: they believed that at the moment judgement, if the cumulative bad deeds of one's life, weighed more than a FEATHER, you were condemned and then instantly devoured, consumed by this evil creature that stood at the ready for such a moment. How many of us make it to heaven based on our own merits. Listen 7 minutes to find out! Subscribe. Like and Comment.https://youtu.be/SgxDdZKN_AY

You will need these 7 minutes. Perhaps not today, but soon. I know that some big difficult circumstance is hurling towards you. A lot will be asked of you on that day, so my humble suggestion is to be ready. As we discussed yesterday, one of the challenges will be: Do I trust God? Today, we'll look on the foundation that this trust sits upon. It is this: Do I know that GOD IS FOR ME? If so, it changes everything. KNOWING THAT GOD IS FOR YOU, will help you turn your HARDEST DAY to your finest day.https://youtu.be/HpzTJPEJb30

The interior spiritual work of trusting God is for many, the hardest thing they will ever do. In fact, the struggle will be so difficult, that tears will be shed over it. So what happens to those tears? Psalm 56 tells us. You might not believe it is in the Bible. I certainly didn't. Subscribe if you are surprised to.https://youtu.be/KvRzKbr98sU

The US dollar, which you might be carrying in your back pocket SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT YOU. Literally. It declares something about you that Psalm 56 reinforces. What does the dollar say about you?The dollar says you trust in God. It says that WHEN you are afraid, you trust in God. And then, that trust ultimately results in not being afraid. What does the dollar say about you?The dollar says you trust in God. Now go and do so!https://youtu.be/JXLBJD28NdA

Ps 118:24 Here's the truth about those days: Eventually, either the days are gone, or we are gone from the days.Who is sovereign over my days? Why did that guy have to die "so soon"? Who is in charge over the number of the days? What if I am grumpy about the whole topic? If so, these 6 ½ minutes of this particular day, will be of good use to you.https://youtu.be/6lTKMl3XTNo

If God's GREATNESS is "unsearchable", what happens next?Unsearchable doesn't mean we DO NOT SEARCH. If God has been active and kind to you in designing and implementing a rescue plan for you over many generations, you might want to take notice. Psalm 105 helps us do just that. Happy New year. I have a new year's prayer for you: I wish you the joy of His presence. In Psalm 21, David is pretty excited that the Lord shows up for the faithful national leader. He also warns what happens to those who "make mischief" against Him. Let's just say it isn't pretty. It is like getting shot in the face with an arrow. All the punishment and wrath is so unnecessary. As the year starts, I recommend the joy of His presence. Start the year right with a watch now, and another tomorrow. https://youtu.be/-ovLRzt42No

"God save the King" is in the Bible, Psalm 20 specifically. It is a good prayer for him, or her if you have a Queen. Who wouldn't want their national leader to have access to the wisdom of the Lord of the universe? This psalm teaches us how to pray for our President or King or Prime Minister. Our vote is optional, but our prayers are not. Some trust in chariots and some in horses (or tanks) but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. Subscribe and share: https://youtu.be/vX1zO-QSADE

David writes a psalm to remind everyone to pray for the king who happens to be David. One of my favorite things is to watch a thunderstorm roll in and then jump into the safety of a strong building. One of my least favorite things is to endure a thunderstorm while in a tent.Ps 29 is all about the Thunderstorm Power of God. Ironically, it is from this earth-shaking power that our PEACE with God comes from. It is only because the Lord kindly shares His POWER with us, that we can enjoy PEACE with Him. Psalm 63 gives us permission to use our spiritual imaginations for a great purpose. David tells us about something that is "BETTER THAN LIFE". He comes up with a valuation that declares this particular "thing", God's faithful relationship with people, is WORTH MORE than life itself. It is an an audacious e-value-ation. See if you agree with David: God's steadfast love to humans is more valuable than LIFE ITSELF. Join me for 6 minutes in Psalm 63: https://youtu.be/fmps48w1pyM

David has a superpower. He is able to say, "I'm a sinner. Please forgive. Please help." We have a lot to learn from him.God has made a way for us, the unholy, to have a relationship with Him, the holy. It involves first recognition and verbalizing the real state of affairs. This is where we do relatively poorly. We squirm at our sin and don't even want to use the word.If God had to find some sin in your life, where would you encourage Him to look? Under what rock would you tell Him to look? Now we are getting somewhere...Subscribe if you find any: https://youtu.be/iaOJ5vdmtrs

In our previous video, we left with a beautiful image of jumping on the bed for 1 ½ hours straight. Today, we have another vision worth considering: "Offer yourself freely to God."God does not compel belief. He offers us the opportunity to offer ourselves.
