"Put on your new nature, created to be like God -truly righteous and holy." Eph4:24 NLTDealing with crucifixion, Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane. He felt intense emotions. "Being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground" (Lk22:44 NKJV). So strong were these emotions that He prayed for the cup of crucifixion to pass. But that night, Jesus broke the domination of emotions by obedience to the will of His Father, saying, "Not My will, but Yours, be done" (V. 42 NKJV). Not only can emotions be ruled by obedience, but they will obey faith. Emotions will do what we, in faith, order them to do. David said, "Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name" (Ps 103:1). David ordered his soul, the center of his emotions, to bless the Lord.He believed his soul and everything in him would do what he commanded. Feelings can be transformed from drama to blessing. Paul believed that negative emotions can be put off, and positive emotions can be put on. "Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God-truly righteous and holy" (Eph 4:22-24 NLT). Again he writes, "Let the peace of God rule in your hearts" (Col 3:15 NKJV). It is clear from the Scriptures that emotions can be governed, and the will can respond to God's power and faith rather than the drama of emotions.Send us a textSupport the showChanging Lives | Building Strong Family | Impacting Our Community For Jesus Christ!

If the hardest thing in the Bible is to bow the knee to God, the 2nd hardest is to FORGIVE one another. You'll probably need some help. Fortunately, we have a great tool at our disposal: COMPARISONTo help us with turning to forgive our sisters and brothers here, we are to look at the forgiveness that GOD HAS GRANTED US. "Oh wait, God has forgiven me a LOT, so I can forgive a little" is the idea. It will still be hard, but this is our help. Without God's forgiveness to us in the equation, we'll likely get this very wrong. Listen just 7 minutes a day for other helps. Kindness:Kindness is for GOD. He's been kind. That's the big startKindness is for ME. It is a command. It is an imperative, essential element of the Christian walkKindness is for US. I hope you are in a Christian community where you can practice your kindness muscle. You won't get this online.Kindness is for FRUIT. This is the product that others around you will taste and see; kindness is the only Gospel some will ever read.Kindness is for SEEKING. Before kindness is evident, it is desired, sought and pursued. God sought us, and this is our fuel to fire our prioritizing kindness.Let's seek kindness today. And then, if you share or sign up via bewithme.us, you can seek tomorrow too. Thank you for 7 minutes of listening attention. Well done.
Let's demystify "grieving the Holy Spirit". It is simply the Spirit saying at the end of the day, "YOU CAN DO BETTER." There are plenty of categories to consider. It would benefit us all if we considered our connection to the other limbs of the body; our words, our anger, wrath, etc. As we go to bed tonight, let's listen where the Spirit reminds us that we could have done better at. There is a blessing in the IDENTIFICATION of the area. But He doesn't leave us there, all alone. He is specifically the HELP in assisting us to do better. We are left NOT alone, we have a HELPER in the areas He's identified as needing some do-bettering. bewithme.us bewithme.us@gmail.com Apple Podcasts.
We are "members of one another". This means literally "limbs of the body." That is, we are appendages on the same body. Therefore we should treat each other with particular truth, and particular care, just like you would with your own arm. Hence, our concept for today: Talk to the hand.It affects the truth we speak. It affects the care with which we speak that truth. It affects the severity of the interactions, as I am assuming I'm gonna have this arm for a long time. We are members of one another. Let's act like it. bewithme.us or bewithme.us@gmail.com or Apple Podcasts.

This episode is for anyone who feels trapped in a behavior or a sin that they cannot seem to get out of. Paul gives the key: Stop doing by STOP THINKING. He pleas for peeling off the callouses and re-engaging with "the life of God."This life of God entails ceasing to alienate oneself from the people of God, the practices of God, and yes, the thinking of God. Last I checked, temptations were still enticing, alluring and frankly, tempting. Likely, we will need a full-court press to get out of the mess they make. It all starts with the THINKING.Think with me for 7 minutes please at Bewithme.us tomorrow and the next day if the Lord gives us those days. Even better: sign up at Apple Podcasts and listen at the same time every morning.
Join me for 7 minutes to see how the Lord defines a GOOD CHURCH. Spoiler alert: it is not one in where, "the sermons are good."It won't be a group of people who are never hit by the waves. In fact, a good church EXPECTS to be hit by waves of doctrine, waves of trouble from people and even waves of some evil. A Good Church is one that WHEN HIT BY these waves, doesn't get tossed to and fro. People there are dug-in, reliable, and holding their ground through the onslaught.Bewithme.us or Bewithme.us@gmail.com to find out more.
I suggest plopping yourself onto God's lap. This is to say that I suggest plopping yourself into God's church; His people. It is there that you will find:His PROVISION in all the gifts He's given the people around youHis PRESENCE because His particular character is displayed in each of those gifts given to particular peopleHis PROTECTION as this is where the spiritual-glue is; where truth is; where accountability is.To plop yourself in the midst of God's people is to plop yourself onto the lap of God.Bewithme.us or deezer podcasts to subscribe for more plopping tomorrow.
I suppose one can be HOSTILE or INDIFFERENT to maintain team-unity. Hence Paul's charge to be EAGER to maintain it.Join me for 7 minutes to get our arms around the singularity which is Christianity. The truths are the same no matter what part of the planet you are on; no matter if it is the year 1800 or 2200. We're looking at the book of Ephesians to help us assess our attitudes towards being on TEAM-UNITY. May we be eager to hear the challenge.Bewithme.us and Bewithme.us@gmail.com. Three things today:PATIENCE is the quality of self-restraint in the face of ongoing PROVOCATIONthe BEAR-WITHING of people in God's church probably with COST YOU something. If it is occasionally hard, you know you are on the right trackBeing EAGER to maintain unity means really showing up when you show up to the body of ChristBe eager for another little spiritual snack tomorrow by leaving an email at bewithme.us or bewithme.us@gmail.com. Walk in a manner worthy. Today, you won't be static: there'll be dynamic thinking, watching and saying. But be careful, in the end, it is supposed to be worthy. What must be in our minds? humility. "think lowly"-Paul actually makes up a word to describe the position of our minds. What must be in our souls? Gentleness, sometimes translated meekness. In unfortunate American thinking, this = WEAKNESS, but in the original language is much different. It really means this settled condition of the soul with its power under control. Finally, my favorite "patience". Yes, it's patience regarding TIME but also patience regarding PROVOCATION. It is self-restraint when life has its FINGER IN YOUR EYE. For more gentle, humble spiritual provocation, subscribe at bewithme.us or google podcasts.
Have you ever had family members who didn't believe in you or maybe they wanted you to do things that you didn't want to do? How would you respond to finding out that people were planning to do harm to you? What about people hating you just because you tell the truth? Do you think you are strong enough to carry such a weight? To say yes to Christ means more than just receiving salvation. There is a price to follow Him, a weight of bearing Truth. In these opening verses in John 7, we will see what it takes to be a Truth Bearer. Scripture Ref. Ephesians Sit Walk Stand, Watchman Née Think about this: The least seated in the Kingdom of God -the most immature Christian who is seated with Christ, is greater than anyone who might be considered great in this world. 1. Eph2:6 Sit We are seated in heavenly places at the right hand of the Father Getting rid of things, are not sitting in heavenly place Every Christian has to begin their life from a place of rest The place of rest starts before walking Seating position experience We are seated at the right hand of the Father What does this mean as far as our stance with God We have to learn how to sit before we can walk run or stand Psalms: Be still and know that I am God 2. Eph4:1 Walk -Walk worthy of your calling He didn't say go our and get a decent job, and carry on with life (in the world) 3. Eph6:14 Stand Flesh and blood is not your enemy “Take a stand” means to dig in and not be pushed back To have that peace your have to give up your right to understanding everything If and when God instructs you to do something, he may be actually be willing to obey If you try to understand may be when you lose your peace of God Enemy can take you out Stand forth in the Gospel not in your own doctrine Prayer has the power to overcome temptation Our spirit has an appetite to pursue the spirit, but our flesh can shut it down

Who's voice are we listening to? Everyone and everything around us? Or are we listening to God's voice?
Mike Hanchett joins us to impart equipping towards a faith that is strengthened for God to move-- right where we are today.
A distracted life will eventually prove to be detrimental spiritually, emotionally and relationally. The key to an effective life is focus (Eph4:15-17). How do you do that? By asking the right questions! If you can answer these five questions you'll know what to cut out of your life and what to add and your stress level will go down and your satisfaction will go up and you'll live a more significant life.
We invited Terry and Sandy Kreuger, from Redemption City Church in Westminster, CO, to come and minister at Church in the City. Terry preaches here on the supremacy of Jesus as Lord-- and the fullness of the Gospel for EVERYONE.
We invited Jody & Vanessa Romero (from Restoration Church, East LA) to come and minister with us for a weekend. They have an incredible testimony of God's faithfulness and salvation in their own lives, and we were privileged to have them. Jody and Vanessa left a rich deposit of God's goodness and passion for those who don't profess Jesus Christ as their Savior-- and for the partnership the Church has with God to reach them.
Jody Romero visits from East LA to share about the fullness of the power of the Gospel-- and how we must not disqualify anyone from God's full intent for them: to know Jesus Christ and salvation through Him (Part 2).

We invited David & Kathy Swart from 614 Church in Columbus, OH to minister to us at our 12th birthday celebration weekend. Kathy shared an update on 614 and how God has been working there, and Dave shared a foundational word of challenge and encouragement about our good Father and the importance of knowing and walking with Him.

There is immeasurable safety and identity in how the Father has pursued us and made us a part of His family through His Son, Jesus.
Who do you say that Jesus is? God wants us to know His Son, Jesus Christ, and to be compelled by continual revelation of Him.

Terry Krueger, a dear friend of Church In The City & member of NCMI’s Ephesians-4 Team, ministers to us and ordains new elders in our church — Mat & Sheetal Philip — and celebrates the return to eldership of Mark & Courtney Nelson. In this message, Terry challenges us all to look to the Good Shepherd and find Him as our source of life and example of leadership.
