In this episode, I'm diving deep into the world of emotions with Part 3 of a 4 part series based on my most popular workshop: The Yoga of Emotion. Emotions are often misunderstood. We think that emotions are simply reactions to events. It's all about how we think about those events that create those feelings. Ten different people can witness the same event and experience ten different emotions based on their own thoughts and perspectives. The Three Laws of Emotion are: Law 1: The 90-Second Rule. Discover what emotions actually are and where they come from. I reveal a jaw-dropping study finding that shows how failure to manage emotions can age you by a whopping 35 years. Law 2: The 50/50 Rule. Life isn't always sunshine and rainbows, and that's actually a GOOD thing. Learn how to make peace with the “shitty 50” and navigate life's challenges more easily. Finally, Law 3: Fuel for Your Actions. Emotions are the GAS that takes you from where you are to where you want to be. These 3 laws are a start to emotional mastery —a transformative tool that can revolutionize your daily life. If you're ready to master your mindset and your emotional life, I invite you to book a free 45-minute strategy session with me. In this personalized session, we'll address any challenges or roadblocks that may be holding you back. Click here to book a time. Limited spots available.

If you think about it, some of the best lessons that you have learned in life have come indirectly from the choices that others have made and the examples they have set for themselves. What is the lesson? By setting a standard, you can lead others far more effectively than if you rely on rank or title alone.  And by living to a standard, you will be far more effective at achieving your goals in life.   “Never call yourself a philosopher, nor talk a great deal among the unlearned about theorems, but act conformably to them. Insecurities on the Dance Floor?   I am not good enough I will never be as good as X person   How to deal with your insecurities? 1.Why I made this video? TO discuss Insecurities This is something we all deal with in all facets of our lives. I will tailor this to the dancing scene. 2. I have often found myself thinking: I am not good enough I will never be as good as X person 3. How I would aim to resolve these issues: Ask yourself what is In your control? What do you have power over? Your Actions. Also understand that comparison is the thief of joy.   I would also like to say that, your insecurities are something you will always deal with. But as you become more confident and as you put the time and effort into your craft, you build up this level of trust & confidence within yourself. And I also think you start to build this sense of abudance mentality versus scarcity. For me I had this sense of scarcity mindset, thinking   The more you do this, the better you become, and the more positive experiences you can draw upon. As a beginner, you may not have as many positive experiences to remember and think about. But after you reach a certain level of skill you can understand that and comprehend that just because this one person may not enjoy dancing with you does not mean someone else wont. You have experienced it firsthand. To sum this video up: YOU will always deal with your insecurities. I deal with them now on the dance floor. But as with anything in life, the better you become at this skill the more confidence you have in yourself. The more trust you have in your capabilities.     #Salsa #Bachata #Kizomba #Podcast #BrazilianZouk #Rueda #Tarraxinha #Zouk #Passada #Ginga #Forro #LambaZouk #Afro #Latin #African #Socialdance #Socialdancing #Partnerdance #Partnerdancing #Pachanga #Lambada #Dance #Dancers     2LF Links   _______________________________________________   Twitter: https://twitter.com/Tw0LeftFeet Instagram: tw0_left_feet Website: https://2leftfeet.blog/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2171874589599779/ Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoLeftFeetPodcast/ iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/two-left-feet-podcast/id1454425997 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5bQSnwKDmHbDQdgnZ0OrC3 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/Twoleftfeet Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCR109vJ4Pbl146Ok1u5vSuA Anchor: https://anchor.fm/twoleftfeetpodcast

Mental strength can be described as your amount of resilience & confidence. But if you're unsure how to become stronger mentally, I have 10 tips on how to work towards a stronger mind & become even more capable of overcoming the struggles that come your way.Show Notes:I always thought mental strength was tough to work on, but it was because I was a people pleaser. And being a people pleaser meant I had to do what I could to put everyone else first & not make myself a priority ever. This meant that I allowed my mindset to be continually crushed by those I thought I needed to serve to be accepted, to be liked, to be recognized. I had to extract myself from that lifestyle, that behavior before I even had a chance to become stronger. You don't get stronger when you allow others to basically step on you & hold you down. And as most of you know, all I talk about around here is emotions and mindset and how to ensure you are not held captive by your emotions & how better to manage those emotions that will assist you in getting your desired outcomes in life & continue on your journey to becoming your best self. And it's what many of you are here for, which is great because I can deliver on that. And talking about different topics individually can help you understand those topics better, but sometimes it's nice to have a quick list of things to work on to either get a jumpstart on your emotional wellness work or just to have a condensed reminder of what's important to work on, in general. And that is what I plan to provide for you today. A quick list of things for you to do to work on your mental strength. But first, let's define what mental strength is: Being mentally strong means you are able to deal with the stressors, challenges & problems that come your way. This also means you have the ability to cope with any negative emotions that come with those struggles & respond the best way you can, despite the circumstances.Sometimes referred to as mental toughness, it can also be boiled down to the amount of resilience & confidence you have to figure whatever out & keep moving forward. As always, please note that becoming stronger mentally is not an overnight project. It doesn't happen right away & takes time, like most things. Please be patient with yourself as you develop this skill.Today I want to share with you 10 Ways to Work On Becoming Stronger Mentally:Learn to Set Goals That Are Realistic & ManageableWork on Managing AnxietyDon't Camp Out in the Past Learn to Respond Rather Than React Set Limits/Boundaries for Yourself Indulge in Positive Activities & Things that Bring You Joy Embrace Changes in Your Life Be Responsible for Your Actions & Behaviors Work On Being More Patient Celebrate Other People's Success Thank you again for listening & I hope this episode was helpful.Come visit me on my Instagram page @sabrinajoyperozzo to say hi or on Clubhouse @sabrinajperozzo to chat!Have any questions, comments or feedback?  Send me an email at realpositivegirlpodcast@gmail.com or check out my website, www.sabrinajoy.com where you can listen to all my episodes, send me messages & sign up for my weekly newsletter!Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/sabrinajoy)

Today I want to talk to you about Creating Certainty in your life.   This is a topic that I have heard over and over from experts and thought leaders in my life.  Robert Stuberg spends a great deal of time on this subject.   The Roman philosopher Seneca said, "Nothing is certain expept the past" Erich Fromm also said, "The quest for certainty blocks the search for meaning. Uncertainty is the very condition to impel man to unfold his powers."   I love this second quote because I believe sometimes we place too much effort on finding certainty in our lives.    Of course certainty is important...but no less that the benefits obtained from a degree of uncertainty in our lives.   Tony Robbins talks about the need for both:  certainty and uncertainty   STORIES OF CERTAINTY & UNCERTAINTY   Right now the world is definitely in a state of chaos or uncertainty.   So, how do we learn to create a degree (or more) certainty in order to create some "peace of mind"...?   My Mentor Robert made a statement to me that really hit home, and I'd like you to really think about this...   ...People make the mistake of looking for certainty "outside" of them selves...the only sure bet is to look inside of yourself to create certainty.   What does this really mean?... How do we create certainty inside of ourselves...?   Well, I believe that the best way to create certainty in our lives is to focus on the only thing we truly have control over...our Actions and Mindset...   By focusing on our goals and unique talents in life, and taking massive action, we can create and maintain a degree of control and certainty in our lives.   We can create confidence, self esteem, and peace of mind when we create a plan and follow through with that plan.   And...when aligned with our unique talents, purpose and passion, it makes for a great recipe for success in our life.   So many people are relying on their jobs, parents, leaders and influencers in their lives to create results and certainty and security for them in life.   It's time that we begin to realize that "no one" is going to come and rescue you.  No one is going to be the hero of your own story in life.... ...you need to be the Hero of Your Story.   This is what will create Certainty, Peace of Mind and Results for you in Life.   Your Actions will create the life you are seeking.   I understand that sometimes we feel that life is out of control. Maybe you feel like... ...your job is grinding you down. ...your business is riding waves up and down. ...your relationships and people around you are demanding your time. ...your circumstances are "outside" of your control.   Well the truth is that none of that really matters when it comes to creating your life, because the only thing you can control, influence and FOCUS on is Your Own Actions.   And when you develop a deep sense of Purpose and Commitment to YOUR life and Path...that is when you will continue to move in the right direction... ...a direction of Health, Wealth, and Happiness.   You've probably heard me refer to the story of the iceberg in the past...   Many years ago, ancient sailors use to be amazing by a strange phenomenom they witnessed in the ocean with icebergs they would pass.  The sailors used to wonder why the wind would be blowing a particular direction and yet they would see these massive icebergs moving against the wind in the opposite direction.  It was because they didn't realize a couple of important priciples that were happening.    First, the iceberg they saw (although enormous on the surface) were actually only 10% of the actual mass of the iceberg...the rest was under water.   Second, the deep ocean currents were actually what was moving the iceberg, and those current were not flowing the same direction as the wind.   This principle is also one we can apply in our lives.    When we learn to develop deep commitments to our Unique Talent and Goals that are aligned with our Passion and Purpose in life...we can develop our own deep "internal" currents that will continue to move us in the direction of our Destiny regardless of what is happening in the world around us.   Learning to develop certainty in our lives "internally" is the best way to find that Peace of Mind and Certainty...   The key is to look internally, not externally, to create certainty in your life.   I hope that makes sense to you and you can find ways to do that in your own life.   Remember, Your Actions will create Certainty.  The Program Robert Stuberg Developed called Creating Your Ultimate Destiny goes into this in much more detail, but truly all you need to do is...   1- Decide what you want in life... 2- Adopt the beliefs and emotions that will lead you to that goal... 3- Decide what you need to do by making a plan of action... 4- Take Action.  It isn't rocket science and it isn't a secret...   Taking action will get you to your goal and will create the certainty you are looking for.  Remember what I said earlier...   All the perfect planning, thinking and organizing will never Create Your Life.   Only Actions and Alignment with your Unique Talent will do the job.   Thanks for listening to these ideas today, and I hope they have inspired you to take control and responsibility for your life.   Talk with you more tomorrow...   George Wright III

Activity vs. Productivity: Enjoying the Process That Leads to Output (#003)

Startup Struggles

Even when you understand your purpose, it's still hard to stay motivated — to be productive and active. We often equate progress and productivity with activity, which makes enjoying the whole entrepreneurial journey difficult. As with everyone else, a founder has to live his or her own life. In a world driven by output, many entrepreneurs feel guilty for letting life happen. Many people forget how being part of a family, spending time with friends, and doing things they love, help them to be more effective and efficient. In today's episode, we tackle a different perspective on productivity. Sean and James discuss how to appreciate the slow days, enjoy the lack of activity, and value the learning time.Key Takeaways:Slow days when founders have to deal with life and enjoy time spent doing non-work-related things are also productive. Taking some time off doesn't mean you're neglecting the business. Time spent on thinking, recalibrating isn't a lack of progress. We often think of output as a sign of productivity, but doing thinking work is just as important.Episode Quotes:The Importance of Taking Time Off[00:07:14] I feel like most CEOs and founders that I talk to are frazzled out of their minds. Or working a hundred percent of their time. Taking time off, like what? Five days to really take time to spend with family. Go up, celebrate. I think we often forget that we have to celebrate the stuff.Taking Responsibility for Your Actions[00:08:51] I mean, your company hasn't caught up in flames and dying in those couple of weeks, right? I wouldn't say that you're going into this place of not replying to any single email. You're not completely ditching your day-to-day responsibilities of being a CEO, being a founder, being a father, husband, and being a friend. You have all these lists of things that you're probably already doing. You might be saying, “I'm not productive in this last few weeks or a couple of months”, compared to your peak, the most productive time of your life when the company is just getting started and things are super exciting. Like the Stages of Grief, There are Stages of Acceptance Too[00:13:34] I think it's something that's very hard to grasp because of this concept about how everything is tied to the output. If we're only chasing that, and if we're tying any sort of meaning to life with outputs, then this goes into not ever being present for the moments that lead to the outcome. And if you're not enjoying this, at some point we are not enjoying the conversation that we're having, we should stop. Even if there are millions of listeners, it wouldn't matter at that point.

Struggling is akin to climbing a mountain. You start strong and motivated. As soon as you reach the top, you realize going back down is just as hard. Once you reach the top, you assume that going down will be easier. That's not the case. In this episode, Sean and Andrew discuss how summits in entrepreneurship are as much a part of our struggles as our successes. A reminder that these peaks are not the end, but just the first step toward higher peaks.Listen as they discuss what it takes to cope with life's daily struggles — from recognizing that it's going to be persistently part of your life to considering what kinds of challenges you're willing to take on. Key Takeaways:Struggles are persistent. It's not going to stop, even though you reach summits in your entrepreneurial journey. To deal with struggles, you have to go through awareness to acceptance. Awareness that it will always be part of your life, and finally accepting the kind of struggles you're willing to put up with.Struggles are not necessarily bad, it's the stepping stone to get to better places.Episode Quotes:The Importance of Accepting Your Struggles[00:05:56] It seemed to me how you accept what's going on in your life and accept the struggles if you know that it's always going to be there, the struggle evolves with you as you evolve. It's just about trying to accept that it's going to happen, and then how you deal with it, and what kind of struggles you're willing to put up with.Taking Responsibility for Your Actions[00:24:06] Of course, everything that I decided to do is my own decision. It's one thing to understand that, but it's completely different from actually accepting it. Because I think once you accept that decisions are yours, then there is a really hard truth that you alone are responsible for where you are in your life. Like the Stages of Grief, There are Stages of Acceptance Too[00:25:42] Life doesn't work that way and our minds do not work that way. Once we even accept something, it's not like all of a sudden things become easier. It's not that, “Oh, I've accepted that. You go through like the grief thing. Even though you accept that something bad has happened, and you struggle with it. Just because you accept it doesn't mean that the grief goes away. It's just a different level of understanding.Show Links:Mark Manson Author ProfileMark Manson's BooksEntrepreneurial Operating System: Free Tools

Why Improve Your Emotional Intelligence

The Traveling Introvert

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 14, 2021 5:23

Controlling your emotions or possessing proper emotional intelligence is vital for a successful life. Feelings, along with rational thoughts, ensure you get what you need out of life financially, physically, and mentally. This is essential to understand your emotions and improve or possess emotional intelligence. The following five tips, when implemented, will improve your emotional intelligence:   Recognize Your Good and Bad Emotions   When you feel a particular emotion, recognize and label it right away. Don't push it away or ignore it. Allow the feelings to happen, good or bad. Let them rush over you. Then take a moment to recognize how it makes you feel and what reactions you took or want to take. To understand your emotions better, you need to experience them first, not avoid them.   Identify Your Triggers   A trigger is something that starts or causes you to react and experience an emotion or feeling. Before you feel something, there is likely a cause or culprit. Take note of the cause, how it makes you feel, and what actions you take now. This is important so you can learn to control your emotions before they happen. If you know that you will be around a particular trigger, you can bring resources to cope or avoid it altogether.   Understand the Difference Between Responding and Reacting   Often people tend to react to conflict instead of responding to it. This situation can lead to further consequences. These reactions don't benefit the situation. Learn to take the time to listen and then respond instead of reacting.   Receiving criticism from a peer or manager is often an excellent example of this type of situation. Imagine the last time you received constructive criticism. Did you take the time to listen to what they had to say genuinely, or did you feel attacked and react?   Utilize Active Listening Skills   This includes your own thoughts before you express them to others. If you have difficulty processing, your emotions pause for a moment instead. Reflect on your behavior and truly analyze what is being said by others and yourself. "Think before you speak" is an all-too-common phrase that is just as easy to avoid as it sounds. It takes determination and will power to control this behavior.   Be Mindful of Your Actions   Last but certainly not least, you must practice self-awareness and mindfulness. You need to understand your actions or lack thereof can have a negative or positive consequence at any moment. With this in mind, you won't allow your emotions to overcome or control the situations. Instead, you will likely choose a rational solution or make a good decision.   Keep track of each of these tips by investing and writing in a journal or diary. By keeping track, you allow yourself to look back on your progress, and seeing that proof can help you find the motivation to keep growing and improving. You have more control of your emotions than you think, if you keep trying and doing the work necessary to understand yourself truly.

Embodying Change: Cultivating Caring and Compassionate Organisations

This episode is dedicated to humanitarians around the world on World Humanitarian Day.Melissa and Torrey Peace of Aid for Aid Workers Leadership Podcast do a podcast exchange about people-centred leadership. In this conversation they cover: The importance of empowering the people closest to the problem, as they know best how to solve those problems. This relates to high performing teams as well as to the localisation conversation. Three common limiting beliefs that hold leaders back and what to do about them:  “Leaders always have to be available.” Actually, leaders are more effective when they – and their teams – schedule and protect regular, uninterrupted time for focused work. “Leaders have to have all the answers.” On the contrary, no leader has all the answers. A coaching approach that supports individuals in solving their own problems can bring profound results to management relationships as well as partnerships.  “Setting boundaries is selfish.” In reality, saying “no” when someone asks you to do something that doesn't work for you or the organisation can protect the quality of work. It is okay to say no! Topics that are currently in demand in the aid sector from Torrey's vantage point as a coach, podcast host, teacher and blogger: Time management  Well-being How to set boundaries How to be more inclusive Decolonising aid and nationalising positions Creating cultures in which people and partners feel comfortable speaking up.  Ask for feedback and take action on that feedback. We don't have to call it feedback, as the word itself can be triggering, but consider methods from compassionate communication to connect and improve. Make the organisation's values come alive by being clear on what they are and what they look like in action and revisiting them often. With twelve years experience as a leader in international development Torrey facilitates rising and established leaders in the aid world to achieve optimal fulfillment in life and work through creative solutions that align with their organization's values as well as their own. Your attempts to build a relationship? Sometimes its like water off of a duck, it just rolls off… Sometimes it can be excruciating… Have you ever felt that type of “misunderstood?” My encouragement to you today is this… YOU ARE IN GOOD COMPANY. Let me repeat today's quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson… “Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood.” What would today look like if — instead of worrying for hours about someone's thoughts about you, your email, your text message… you allowed them to misunderstand you. Of course work to an understanding with people closest to you, but give yourself the gift of allowing someone to misunderstand you. Because… being misunderstood does not mean you are misunderstand-able… Only that someone doesn't fully understand the greatness inside of you. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/kevin-ilich/message

Therefore, you should always ask yourself what is the RESPONSE YOU WANT from your team?If you are snapping and being erratic all the time, that's exactly how your team is going to behave. Think of the BEST LEADER you've worked with, the one who made you want to be better and give more at work. That's EXACTLY what you should be thinking about when you lead. One commonality across leaders worldwide is that they TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES. People often think that leaders should sleep 2 hours a day, barely eat, and exist solely for their jobs to be successful. This is an absolute LIE! The best leaders make sure they take time for themselves, usually using it to stay active be it by practicing a sport or any other activity that engages their mind and allows them to connect WITH THEMSELVES.Do you do the same? This is the only way in which you can truly take care of your employees. To promote responses instead of reactions you need to UNDERSTAND where your employees are coming from, their buttons, and their triggers. Otherwise, your workplace will be in constant chaos. The key here is to CONTROL WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL. This allows you to manage the things you can't control more successfully. Jade and Kyle provide great real-life examples and tools to help you implement these strategies. It's all TAKING THE TIME to invest in how you manage your team and being willing to let go when it's necessaryReady to learn more? Go NOW to linkKey points (00:00): Welcome to Barrels and Business!(04:50): The importance of avoiding a breaking point or threshold that leads you to react instead of responding.(07:16): There are usually many stressors that might lead you to accumulate pressure until you explode and react in an unproductive way.(09:40): Nutrition can have an important impact on the ability of leaders to lead and communicate with their team as well as the energy they transmit to others.(13:57): The dangers of making a decision when you are overly energized from things like excessive caffeine intake or crashing from a high intake of carbs.(16:20): As a leader, it's important to understand how others work and what their triggers and buttons for reacting instead of responding are.(22:30): Leaders need to be “the meat in the sandwich” and manage the pressure they are putting on the rest of the team in the best way. (25:37): The most inspiring leaders take care of themselves, practice a sport, or are physically active, which allows them to take care of others.(29:24): Tools to help employees to be more active during work and helping them activate their mind in the process. (37:06): As a leader, you can help a team that has become negatively competitive by encouraging them to play for outcomes instead of goals. (41:58): Sports can be a good example of how to improve the strength of a work team. (43:58): Sometimes, as the business changes, one of the team members can't change with the business. It's important to identify when it's time to help them find the right role for them somewhere else. Key takeaways & quotes It's important to process stressors as they come to avoid accumulating them until the point of exploding and reacting instead of responding.Controlling the things you can allows you to better manage the things you can't control. As a leader, it's important to act keeping in mind the type of response you want from your team.“Exercise reduces the possibility of reaching the reacting threshold.”Men need to connect with nature, which can be applied in the workplace.Leaders need to be able to respond and interact with employees by understanding what they need to thrive.“The best leaders are people who take care of themselves.”Connect with Me and the Barrels and Business Community Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/barrelsandbusiness/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jadegreenau/Linkedin - https://www.linkedin.com/in/jadegreenauYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/JadeGreenWebsite: https://www.jadegreen.com.au/Connect with Kyle Probert Website: https://www.apthydraulics.com.au/Instagram: @kyle_aptLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kyleprobertMentioned resourcesWealth Dynamics test: https://www.wealthdynamics.com/ Love Language Test: https://www.5lovelanguages.com/ Legacy: https://www.amazon.com/Legacy-Sports-James-Kerr/dp/153181218X Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. Will our Boys Take Action or Not towards their Financial Freedom

Our boys are good boys and we are very proud of them and love them to death. But they still worry me that they may not be Financially Free in the future because of their lack of Action towards Money and Education. Like is hard and even harder if you don’t have money. We constantanly tell them they need to live with the Consequences of their Choices they make. In Robert Kiyosaki book called “Retire Young Retire Rich” he said that “Alan Greenspan, chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, recently said on television, “We need to start teaching financial literacy in our schools” We need to start teaching our kids to take care of themselves financially, rather than teaching them to expect the government or company they work for to take care of them after they retire.” Robert wrote “The Leverage of Your Actions. There is an overused story about three birds sitting on a fence. The question is, “If two birds decide to fly away, how many birds are left?” The answer is, “Three birds are left.” The lesson is, just because you decide to do something does not mean you will do what you decide to do. In the real world less than 5 percent of the U.S. population is rich because 95 percent of the population may want to be rich but only 5 percent takes any action.” We hope our boys will be the 5% that take action towards their Financial Freedom Goals and their Education. But currently they are sitting back thinking others will come to them and teach them. They think they just need to know the basics to get by in life. They are not showing any extra drive to be that 5%. For instance, our oldest Son that dropped out of the Navy signed up for College and we pushed him hard to get a job and sign up for College. Currently at his job he just does the basics and not trying to add value to himself by learning more about the company. He started his schooling but is only in class for one to two hours a day and doesn’t try to learning stuff on his own. He says that school will teach him all he needs to know. So, his free time is spent playing Xbox or on the phone with his girlfriend. We told him starting in October he has to start paying Rent so he better start taking some Action in his life to be more productive. Our youngest one seems to be following in his brother’s foot steps also. He is on his Xbox or phone most of his free time. He does the basics he needs to do to just get by in High School and isn’t trying to study and get good grades. We have given him tons of ways to make money around the neighborhood or on-line but he chooses to ignore them and just keep getting by. Consequences both boys could face is being in that 95% of the population that just gets by. The 95% that gets by probably have just an average income, has debt and has little saved for Retirement. They may end up working till there bodies won’t let them anymore. They have to be able to live with there choices they are making. What choices are you making towards your Financial Freedom and Education? As always, I am not giving you any Financial Advice and you should seek advice from your Professional Advisors to see what is best for your situation. See my Disclaimer at MillsWay.com. "Your Growth Mindset Defines Your Perceptions & Your Actions" “Your will to succeed remains one of your greatest assets.” Clifton-Taulbert According to Clifton L. Taulbert, noted author and entrepreneur businessman, he could have failed had he not encountered community builders and entrepreneurial thinkers early on in his life. Taulbert was born on the Mississippi Delta during the era of legal segregation where he completed his secondary education. Though opportunities were few and barriers were plentiful, Taulbert managed to dream of being successful, not knowing the shape that success would take. Today Taulbert is the President and CEO of the Freemount Corporation (a human capital development company) serving clients nationally and internationally-Fortune 500 Companies, small businesses, federal agencies, professional organizations, community colleges and K-12 leadership. Additionally, entrepreneur Taulbert is the President and CEO of Roots Java Coffee-an African-American owned national coffee brand, importing coffee from Africa. To pass his life lessons along, Taulbert shares his entrepreneurial journey with others as a Thrive15.com mentor. He is a Generational Bridge of Segregated Times tio Integrated Times Today. In "The Invitation," Clifton Taulbert returns to the themes of "Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored," his award-winning book and the source of a major motion picture. This new memoir chronicles Taulbert's transformative experience of a supper invitation to a former plantation house in Allendale, South Carolina, where the successful adult confronts his childhood memories and wrestles with the legacies of slavery and segregation that demand to be acknowledged in his present circumstances. Transported back to a setting that looks and feels like the cotton fields and shotgun shacks of his childhood, Taulbert finds himself expected to cross racial barriers that no "colored" man could have broached without dire consequences. "The Invitation" is the story of the man and the little boy inside him wrestling with a past they both know so well, and of stepping into a future that is still being determined. © 2021 All Rights Reserved © 2021 Building Abundant Success!! Today’s Issues and Problems Give You the Opportunity To Mirror Jesus in Your Actions, Even With a “Mask” and “Distancing” MESSAGE SUMMARY: Paul, in Titus 3:4-8, powerfully lays out that we, as Christians, receive our Salvation through our faith and God’s Grace and not by our works. However, we are, also, given the opportunity to mirror Jesus’s good works in our actions and works: “But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people.". What would happen, if the next time you are in the grocery store, you see a young family in need at the register and you pay their bill? Or what would happen if you paid the bill of a young family in line behind you at a fast food restaurant? Or what would happen if you got in your car and visited the shut-ins living in your community? Or what would happen if you went next door and actually met, got to know, and helped your neighbor? If we want to be real Christians, then we need to follow the “Great Commission” set forth by Jesus, for us, in Matthew 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”".  Our most powerful tool, that we can use to follow Jesus “Great Commission”, is for our life to let others see Jesus in our faith, actions, and works.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Fear. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Faithfulness. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): John 13:34-35; Romans 2:6-10; Titus 3:4-8; Psalms 27:1-14. In the cognitive model of psychology, all three are connected and influenced by each other. You need to understand that your actions lead to your RESULTS. More specifically good actions = good results and bad actions = bad results. You also need to understand that WE CANNOT CONTROL OUR CIRCUMSTANCES NOR CAN WE CONTROL WHAT OTHER PEOPLE DO. In addition to this a circumstance is just an event and it doesn’t have any additional meaning until we give it meaning with our thoughts. Hey friends, Welcome back to another episode, one that is relevant in these times of need and when mental health is at its utmost important while we are all faced with tons of uncertainty in our lives as we know it.  If you think life is a bed of roses, you will find that beneath the sweet smelling flowers lie numerous sharp thorns. This is a quote that always makes me think a little deeper of the true meaning of our lives and the purpose and how all the thorns are challenges that test our resilience and give us a chance to get stronger. Another one that naturally keeps coming to mind is “When life throws you lemons, make lemonade.” Sometimes even the best one among us faces difficulties in managing himself. Maintaining our peace of mind, keeping ourselves motivated, utilizing our time productively and performing at our level best needs proper guidance. In such times, we look towards our family, friends, and well-wishers. However, we don’t find desired results most of the time in spite of the intervention of our loved ones. It is because despite having the best intentions our near and dear ones don’t have the competence and expertise of a professional life coach. Sometimes I hear from people, why do I need a life coach that’s what I have friends for. Also a friend will only be able to give you their perspective based on their own experiences, fears, limiting beliefs etc.  Life coaches are trained professionals who are passionate about improving the lives of their clients and help them to achieve their goals and live up to their maximum potential. That is always the outcome of a good life coach! Why You Should Hire A Life Coach Here are the top seven benefits of seeking the assistance of a life coach: #1. Gives You Clarity about Your Dreams and Aspirations Seeking help from a life coach will give us the clarity to know our dreams, aspirations, and goals. A life coach can connect you to your heart’s longings and can help us find out what you most deepest desire. Seeking the help of a life coach can assist you in determining your priorities and necessities. #2. Helps to Strike a Perfect Balance in Life Clichéd as it may sound, but the balance is the key to a good life. We tend to get frustrated and stressed out if we don’t strike a right balance in our lives and this affects our well-being, productivity, peace of mind and health. These, in turn, inhibit us from achieving our goals and living up to our full potential. A life coach can help us in attaining a perfect balance in your lives. #3. Taps into Your Full Potential Seeking the help of a life coach can help people reach their full potential. The steps taken by the life coach will fill the person with motivation, enthusiasm, zest for life and positivity. When people are motivated to work towards achieving their goals, they always make extra efforts. One of my first seminars that I attended to learn how to tap into my potential is Tony Robbins’ Unleash The Power Within. In that seminar, I absolutely learned to access another inner level which I did not know was possible. Everyone has their own experience and the levels that they individually rise at.  #4. Gives You Unbiased Input If you seek the help of your closed ones and ask them to point out your shortcomings and limitations, they may not be able to tell you. In fact, they may hide your mistakes to save you from feeling miserable. However, a life coach will make no concessions on this and will point out the things that hold you back. This is because they work with so many people and are able to identify patterns of behavior or thinking that are universal. I always say that no matter how different we think we are are as human beings, we all have similar patterns that help keep us stuck or to not get the results that we are looking for.  #5. Makes You More Responsible for Your Actions and Commitments When you seek the help of a life coach or any other type of coach, you tend to be more accountable for your actions and commitments. They help you to become more disciplined, and they ensure that you own your actions and commitments and take them seriously. In other words, they give you accountability and support so that you can learn how to show up for yourself in this way, increasing your self respect. #6. Helps You to Grow as a Person To help you grow as a person, a life coach will make you undertake activities which are out of your comfort zone. You will be exposed to newer perspectives, experiences, and ideas when a life coach works with you. Moving beyond your comfort zone is the necessary and only way to get those different results that you are looking for. It's the only way that you will ever evolve as a human being into the fuller version of yourself. This is where happiness and meaning will start to show up and you will feel alive and wake up everyday with a new purpose.  I hope that I was able to explain the results that life or any other coaches can do for you and also to give you a clearer understanding of why I believe that everyone needs a life coach. Thrive By Design: Business, Marketing and Lifestyle Strategies for YOUR Jewelry Brand to Flourish and Thrive

1) You Feel Overly Defensive of Your Biz Someone asks a critical question about your business or offers constructive feedback, and you immediately snap into defense mode. That’s a red flag. As the creative visionary, you may be too close to your biz to see some of the big-picture problems.  I get it, you’re passionate about what you do. That passion is what fuels your success, but it can also get in the way of growth if you let it. If you find yourself feeling overly defensive of your business decisions, that’s usually the first sign it’s time to get some outside perspective on things. 2) You’re Operating from a Scarcity Mindset You feel stressed because there’s not enough money to go around, not enough room in the marketplace for your work, etc. It’s not true. Repeat after me, and believe it: money is limitless, sales are limitless, your opportunities for growth are limitless. It’s only a matter of getting your head in the right space and putting in the work. The best cure for a scarcity mindset is to reach out to a supportive community of like-minded artists who can help you shift your thinking. 3) Your Actions and Goals are Misaligned You are setting ambitious goals but not making a plan or implementing the actions that will allow you to follow through. Here’s the unfortunate truth: sometimes the person you are today is not going to the person you want to be in the future. Recognizing this forces you to reflect on your own approach to business. This is where a coach or mentor can really help you out. If you’re feeling a little called out right now, don’t be too hard on yourself! This is the first step of tapping into your potential for growth. Listen to the rest of the podcast, where I talk about the actions you can take once you’ve identified that it’s time to ask for help. We have all probably said it at one point or another, "Well that wasn't my intent." OR "I didn't MEAN to hurt you." 1) No one said you MEANT to or INTENDED to hurt someone. We get that you are trying to do the right thing in you mind in the moment. 2) Your ACTIONS fell short. 3) NO ONE is going to let you off the hook. Not your mom, the gov, the electric company, GOD, or your client because you "intended" to do something, or didn't intend something... it happened and there are consequences one way or another.  Enjoy this scathing episode of Weaver and Loom. [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWQUWzuUBkk[/embedyt] I believe it's strikingly important to remember that when you know better, you can do better. With higher levels of awareness, you can make smarter choices. And the more clarity you get as to who you want to become, the quicker you can start making the choices need to get you there. - Robin S. Sharma We have all the choices around us to create our best in life, business, and our organizations yet seeking the perfect choice can lead to disaster. It can lead to paralysis by analysis. You would think choice leads to freedom. Choices can give us freedom yet for having too many choices can lead to anxiety. Sometimes that anxiety comes from worrying about what others will think. You may have heard the phrase, “What others think of you is none of your business.”, so don't stress over it. When there is an unlimited amount of choices or an overload of options to choose from it can lead to the inability to make a decision. Weighing the pros and the cons of a choice can be exhausting and anxiety provoking. Anxiety puts us on guard and directs us to play it safe. A little bit of anxiety or nervousness is not always a bad thing. It alerts you to pay attention to details and your intuition. However, sometimes being too cautious can hold you back. The front part of your brain, prefrontal cortex is responsible for decision-making – weighing the consequences and processing your thoughts. The prefrontal cortex helps release some of the emotional steam from decision making by calming the amygdala, a small part of the brain responsible for instinct (the flight or fight response), impulsiveness, and fear. When emotions are high, the amygdala goes into high gear by reacting to protect versus calmly responding. Decision-making can be impaired when emotions are high as rationale thought tends to go out the window. Focus moves from facts to feelings. Paralysis tends to occur when there are too many choices. You may have even narrowed the choices down and now you are worried that you are going to make the wrong choice. Chances are if you were able to narrow it down that neither choice would be the wrong choice. What if you made a decision that no choice would be a bad one or the wrong one? There are some things you can do before you get caught up in paralysis by analysis – basically overthinking things. Practice Mindfulness. When you practice being mindfulness, you pay attention to everything around you. You can pickup on things that are that may add to anxiety such as distractions and clutter. You can eliminate or avoid those distractions so you can feel confident in your decision-making. Identify Your Triggers. What triggers you to feel anxious about making a choice? How is the anxiety influencing your decision right now? Where is this trigger coming from? Past events. Childhood. Slow Down to Be Self-Aware. What feelings come up for you? Remember when emotions are high, rationale thought is low. What thoughts are you having? Be Intentional with Your Actions. Self-awareness is important. Your thoughts and feelings impact your behaviour and the actions you take impacting your results. How what you think and feel about your results impact your next set of actions. Act As IF. Why not act as if you were making decisions and handling situations with ease? Your subconscious mind does not recognize the difference between reality and your imagination. Better yet, think to yourself, “What would my mentor or someone I admire do? How would they respond to this situation?” Act as if and soon enough you will. What choice have you been deliberating on? Go through these steps to help you move through making the choice you need to so you can feel the freedom you need. The peace of mind knowing that you made a good decision and no matter what you have the skills and ability to move through your decisions with grace and resilience, if needed.

“Your actions speak so loud, that I cannot hear what you say.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson Your actions speak. Similar to the old phrase “It’s not what you say, but how you say it.” I’m going to add one more step to that equation… “It’s not what you say, but how you say it accompanied by YOUR ACTIONS.” It’s SO easy to say one thing and do another. You can only control two things in life. Your Attitude and Your Actions.- Darren Hardy       Thank you Darren for sharing this truth. Your attitude and your actions are all you can control and as we are striving to achieve our #WorkOnWellness goal, we have to accept this and learn it, embed it in our mind, in our hearts. When we start getting frustrated and feeling like we don't want to go to the gym, or eat properly, we need to remember that you can control your attitude and your actions. You can control these two things. Yes, you can control that feeling of negativity, those feelings of desire for the donut.  We can also control our actions. We can make the decision to go to the gym, to work out that extra ten, fifteen minutes. We can change the habit of looking for sweets and treats when we are depressed or stressed. We can do the things we need to do when we need to do them. We have that choice. Some days it harder than others to get up early and hit the gym. I know. I have been trying to get up early and go to the gym. There are days I decide not to go. It's not anyone's choice but mine when I don't go. I can control my attitude and my actions. The good or bad are my choice. What choices are we going to make? If it's difficult to make the right choice, we need to turn to our Why. Remember Why you are striving to achieve this goal. Knowing the reason why we do what we do, will help remind us why we started this journey to begin with.
