The Duel of the Ranks: A Star Wars Show podcast is a recent addition to my playlist, and I must say, it has quickly become one of my favorites. One of the best aspects of this podcast is the way they give hard scores and have developed categories for those scores. This adds a level of depth and structure to their discussions and rankings, making it easy to follow along and understand their thought processes. Additionally, I appreciate the civil discourse that takes place when there are disagreements among the hosts. They counter argue with respect and provide great examples of how Star Wars fans should be discussing things. After all, Star Wars is all about fun, and this extends to the discourse surrounding it as well.
Another aspect of this podcast that I really appreciate is how they bring back underrated terms like "milquetoast" into discourse. It's refreshing to hear unique vocabulary being used in conversations, especially ones centered around a beloved franchise like Star Wars. Furthermore, I find the hosts' perspectives to be engaging and insightful. As young Star Wars fans themselves, they offer a fresh viewpoint that often challenges conventional opinions. This different perspective adds a layer of intrigue to their discussions and keeps me coming back for more.
On the flip side, while there are many positives to The Duel of the Ranks podcast, there are also some areas that could be improved upon. For example, occasionally some arguments may come across as flawed or less convincing than others. While it's understandable that everyone has different criteria for their subjective conclusions on Star Wars content, it can sometimes lead to weaker arguments being presented. However, despite these occasional flaws in argumentation, I still find value in listening to these discussions and appreciate hearing diverse opinions.
In conclusion, The Duel of the Ranks: A Star Wars Show podcast is an enjoyable listen for any fan of the franchise. With its structured ranking system, civil discourse among hosts, thought-provoking insights, and the infusion of fun into the discussions, it offers a unique and entertaining perspective on Star Wars. While there may be room for improvement in certain aspects of the podcast, overall, it provides a refreshing take on the beloved series and keeps listeners engaged throughout. I highly recommend giving it a listen, whether you agree or disagree with their rankings.

Amanda finds episode 6 more engaging with its darker story elements, while Brian enjoys episode 7's exploration of Sol's perspective and the Jedi's role in their own troubles. Both agree the episodes tackle the Jedi's moral failings and develop a compelling villain. Brody admires the action sequences and the portrayal of the Wookie Jedi, but on the other hand, criticizes the show's illogical plot points and unbelievable character motivations. With the finale around the corner, our hosts attempt to understand the show's message amidst its chaotic pacing and appreciate the contributions The Acolyte has to offer to the Star Wars universe. To stay up-to-date on all things Duel of the Ranks, be sure to check out our links below!Website: www.dueloftheranks.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/dueloftheranks/Twitter: https://twitter.com/DueloftheRanksTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dueloftheranks?lang=enDiscord: https://discord.gg/3eZZbuXbr3
Our hosts, Brian, Brandon, and Chaco, share their thoughts on the newest episode of The Acolyte: Night. Brian and Brandon are fans of the action-packed episode, praising the best choreography, music, and tension we've gotten in this season. Brian particularly likes how Sol's character is evolving, while Brandon questions whether the villain, Quimir, is a true Sith. Brody is less impressed. He finds the acting uneven and the plot predictable, although he acknowledges the show's impressive visuals. On this week's episode of Duel of the Ranks, our hosts Luke, Alanis, and Choco debate the latest episode of The Acolyte. While some found the cliffhanger ending to be exciting, others were critical of the clunky dialogue, rushed character progression, and short run time. Speculation and intrigue for new characters such as Mae, Jecki, and Bassil are thriving despite recent outcry from segments of the fandom. Additionally, the episode explores long-running questions about the Jedi Order, particularly their struggles with open-mindedness and appearing in control. Speculation flourishes around the mysterious "Darth Smiley," as our hosts craft theories about their identity and the significance of their mask. Reviews for episode 3 of "The Acolyte" are all over the map. Brody finds the episode the weakest of all Star Wars content with a predictable plot, uninteresting characters, and being too focused on lore for die-hard fans. Luke and Choco offer a more positive take, enjoying the new information about the Force and the portrayal of the fallible Jedi. Brian agrees with the criticism of technical aspects of the show but finds the episode more rewarding on a second viewing. The discussion takes a more speculative turn as connections between the witches, the Sith, and Jedi prophesies begin to evolve. The episode's effectiveness in establishing a compelling story, however, remains a point of contention as heavy lore appeals to a slimmer subset of the fanbase. While the episode has garnered a lot of negative attention online, our hosts attempt to dissect how much of the criticism is fueled by bad faith arguments while rationally assessing the flaws in its production. An important discussion on what constitutes “filler” helps rationalize “Bad Territory” and helps us appreciate the details of the episode, such as the atmosphere and character design, while acknowledging the roundabout plot development. As major Asajj Ventress fans, "The Harbinger" is decidedly more engaging. Hosts Brody and Brody discuss the fifth episode of season 3 of "The Bad Batch" titled "The Return." Is it filler, or does the situation advance the characters forward in a meaningful way? With Omega and Crosshair back in the batch, the conflict revolves around unresolved tension between Hunter and his "prodigal brother." Brody argues that "The Bad Batch" is a far more compelling story than "The Mandalorian". While "The Mandalorian" relies on guest appearances rather than a cohesive story, "The Bad Batch" focuses on developing its characters and their relationships. Brian, Amanda and Brody tackle the three-part arc concluding The Clone Wars season 2 finale.
