Before the events of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, Grievous and Mace Windu actually meet to fight one another. The battle is one that I wish we got to see on screen in live action, however, at least we got it in this book: Labyrinth of Evil by James Luceno. The book takes place before Revenge of the Sith where it follows the Jedi Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi on their mission to get the holo chair from Nute Gunray, and track its information down to find Sidious and reveal his true identity as Palpatine. This all happens before Anakin fights Dooku, and of course, before he becomes Vader. Had Mace beaten General Grievous, I think things would have been very different, because then Obi-Wan would be at the temple most likely when Anakin revealed the truth about Palpatine being the Sith Lord. I think Obi-Wan could have guided Anakin better in that moment, perhaps, or at least it would be down to Obi-Wan and Palpatine surviving, and that's a choice Anakin would have a hard time making. It could have potentially changed Order 66 from happening. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In this week's episode, Amanda and Brody break down the Nute Gunray arc of The Clone Wars season 1 (Episodes 8-10). Despite not ranking incredibly high, the duo discuss how Ahoska manages her emotions while away from her master, whether Vader or Kylo Ren had the better redemption arc, and which Star Wars characters are heading to the theatres to check out Barbenheimer.
Ahsoka mentions that Grogu's memory grows dark and faint after the he was hidden at the end of the clone wars, aka, order 66. He was raised at the Jedi temple on coruscant. Many masters trained him over the years. At the end of the clone wars, he was hidden. Someone took him from the temple, then his memory becomes dark. My next theory here after the Anakin one, is that perhaps Sidious took him. This would make sense since Sidoius was at the Jedi temple after Anakin raided it with the 501st. A lot of people miss this detail, but we can actually see Sidious in the Jedi Temple as Anakin kneels before him, calling him his master. Obi-Wan is watching the security recordings from the temple. If this was in palpatine's office, which is not in the temple, then it wouldn't make sense for Kenobi to be able to see this. Sidious sends Anakin away to Mustafar. This is right before Anakin goes to stop by at Padme's place, before blasting off to Mustafar to officially end the Clone Wars by having Nute Gunray deactivate all droids across the galaxy. So when Anakin is here with Padme. Sidious is at the temple, and it's this time gap that I'm thinking could allow him to search for any hiding Jedi who survived. Perhaps this is where he senses Grogu. Now how does he know about Grogu? Dooku! Dooku was a Jedi Master who left the temple after decades of being there since he was a small boy, and who is old enough to know Dooku? Possibly to even be trained by him? Grogu. Palpatine was always mulling over the idea of a new apprentice, and in the revenge of the Sith novel, the plan was for dooku and anakin to be alive and serve him. To which of course we know what happened there. I believe Dooku would have told Sidious all about Grogu and how he was immensely powerful, just like his father, Yoda, if that is his father I'm just saying that to make the story more dramatic. Sidious had a personal vendetta against Yoda, so to take his child would be sweeter than killing him. Imagine turning his son into a Sith Lord, or, harvesting Yoda's genes and force powers for his own twisted Frankenstein abominations. Operation resurrection, perhaps. Palpatine wouldn't go after just any force user. He needed a being with very high Midichlorians in their blood. Grogu would have been maybe 15-20 years old during Revenge of the Sith, and his force powers were far more powerful than what we see in the mandaloirna. He had to subdue his powers as to not be found by the empire. So what I'm thinking is, he was found and taken from the temple by Sidious, and maybe sent to KAmino to be an experiment and to learn from, and there during the next 35 years until we see him in the mandalorian, he perhaps escaped, and then came under the custody of the remnants of the Empire. Now, Sidious's clone in episode 9, looks to be about 30 years old. Rey was born in 15 aby, 5 years after the Mandalorian, just about, so this would mean if he was put on Jakku around the age of maybe 6, meaning 21 ABY, then palpatine's cloned son, Rey's dad, was born about 10 years after Revenge of the Sith. This means Palpatine was trying to clone himself for quite some time, and trying to experiment with different ways to put the force inside a new body. This could give life to this theory that Palpatine did indeed take Grogu from the temple. Personally, I like the palpatine theory. If he took him, he'd just run tests on him as much as he could, perhaps keeping Grogu alive so that his body would grow, allowing the empire to harvest more of his blood as it grew. Perhaps this is why they didn't just kill him off. They tried with other things as much as they could, but they ultimately knew that if they killed the child, they wouldn't find another entity with as high of a force power in their blood. This actually could all be plausible, or, Grogu went wandering alone through the galaxy once the empire was destroyed, only to be put into Gideon's control. Learn more about your ad choices. Just go over to patreon.com/civilized (lol) to support us and gain access to our monthly Q&A podcast. We're keeping it super simple for now. A single tier, a single reward. We don't want to bury ourselves in work. But we also have some ideas for how we'd want to expand this down the road, and we'd love to hear ideas from you too, so let us know! Given the extra work of launching the Patreon this week, we'd love to say that this week's episode is a light one. And on paper, it should be. These episodes cover three distinct stories, with marginal narrative overlap, each tackling a different genre and theme. Unfortunately for us and our runtime, even the worst of these episodes (the Jar Jar vehicle "Bombad Jedi") has enough to chew on for damn near fort minutes. And if that was the case for the comic relief episode, then what could we have expected from our conversation about the one-two punch of "Cloak of Darkness," perhaps our best episode yet, and "Lair of Grievous," which gives us a small taste for the Separatist Supreme Commander's backstory that we've been so thirsty for? Silas Carson played 4 different characters across all of the Star Wars prequels, especially known for his iconic portrayals of Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi and Trade Federation leader Nute Gunray. Yup, same guy. (Listen closely to when he starts doing voices of these characters and figure out if you can hear me have a minor freak out.) Mr. Carson's time, stories and incredible charm was such a thrill. I am so proud of this fantastic interview and, as I said over and over again, it was a huge honor. And, quick announcement: since August would have been a time for us to all meet at Star Wars Celebration, and I would have had swag to give out to you all, I’m instead giving away a ton of rare, signed stuff online, instead. Head to our Twitter account (www.twitter.com/TalkingBay94) to see how you can win by just leaving a 5-star review this month for the show. Next week we’re talking to production designer of The Rise of Skywalker, the legendary, Kev Jenkins, and this Thursday, TOMORROW, there might be a small merch announcement on our social channels. It is always so appreciated if you can leave a 5-star review of the show right here on your favorite podcast app, or on Podchaser: podchaser.com/TalkingBay94 For more behind-the-scenes stuff, as well as a link to some of our other in-depth interviews, check out: Website: www.TalkingBay94.com Twitter: www.twitter.com/TalkingBay94 Facebook: www.facebook.com/TalkingBay94 Instagram: www.instagram.com/TalkingBay94

20 years ago, a ground-breaking sci-fi movie starring Keanu Reeves came out that changed cinema forever. That film was The Matrix. But that's not the film we're talking about today. That;s right, also celebrating its 20th anniversary is Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its UK release, on 16th July 1999, Jack and Alex freestyle the episode. No plan, no structure, no guest appearance from Nute Gunray. Just pure opinions of what they got right, and what they got terribly wrong. The Force is with the boys as they chat George Lucas' controversial, fan-splitting film.

Mild spoilers continue in my discussion of E.K. Johnston's Star Wars: Queen's Shadow. We know from Attack of the Clones and the Clone Wars cartoon series that Nute Gunray holds a grudge against Padme Amidala. Johnston's novel fills in more of that backstory, and how it affects Padme's first year in the Senate. Plus, the fate of Captain Panaka, and a Battlefront II tie-in... Punch it! ***I'm listener supported! Join the community at http://Patreon.com/sw7x7 to get access to bonus episodes and other insider rewards.***
Alyce & Laura of Force Toast Podcast join us this week to talk about their show, hopes and expectations for Celebration and a Rey origin fan theory. We’re back with another review of The Clone Wars and Blaine is back! Of course, he has to tramble his way back onto the show and review one of the best episodes of Season 1. He takes some time to discuss Nute Gunray, as well as this episode being a microcosm for the Clone Wars itself. All that and Ventress vs. Ahsoka in this week’s Return to the Clone Wars!
How could a Jar Jar-centric episode featuring the much-maligned Gungan disguised as a Jedi and a griping C-3PO be any good? Well, it takes careful maneuvering, the solid presence of Padmé Amidala, and Jar Jar almost dying twice. Throw in some galactic political chess match and Nute Gunray and you have the episode “Bombad Jedi”. Josh pleads for us to consider Jar Jar and celebrates/laments his canonized fate. All that and a real bombad intro on deesa episode of Return to the Clone Wars.
In this weeks Clone Wars Rewatch episode, Separitist leader Nute Gunray is the center of the story as we follow a plot to see him captured by the Republic and the desperate attempt by Dooku to have him retrieved... or silenced. This week’s episodes are season 1 episodes 8, 9, and 10. Afterwards be sure to let us know what you thought of these episodes. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/nerdherder/support

The captain looks to her view screen, where Nute Gunray, an odd-looking Neimoidian trade viceroy, waits for a reply.
