It has been nearly 5 months since we last visited the crew of the Ghost, but finally, we are back. Today, we return to Geonosis... which is.... uhhhhh.... mysteriously empty? Shouldn't there be like... millions of giant bugs here? Instead, it looks like there's only one... itty bitty Geonosian and maybe the most cartoonishly wicked version of Saw Gerrera that we've seen yet. Oh well. At least Sabine gets to do some cool jetpack tricks. Support the show by going to Patreon.com/civilized! OUR FIRST EPISODE OF 2025! DIVA CHAOS WARNING: Y'all know when we take a break, the episode we return is a little messy. This episode was extra messy and chaotic, so apologies in advance! In this episode of Dark Side Divas we discuss the Star Wars Rebels episode "Ghosts of Geonosis Part 1" (s3e12). This episode was the first to air since the release of Rogue One, so there's some "vertical integration" happening with this episode which manifests in the return of a Star Wars character who makes everything worse. The Ghost Crew travel to Geonosis for reasons only Hera and Rex really understand, but when they arrive to the planet where The Clone Wars started they find that someone has been keeping and maintaining battle droids. What do the divas think about this episode? Listen to find out! From there events unfold unexpectedly, especially with lesser-known companions of Anakin and Obi-Wan who are the focus of the narrative. We finally end our five episode "Second Battle of Geonosis" arc with a two-part horror story line, which we find to be one of the most unique stories told in all of Clone Wars. Somehow managing to delightfully toe the line between scary and fun, it leaves both of us wishing we had more horror themes in Star Wars content. We continue on, a week delayed, with the middle part of our 5-part Geonosis arc. Standing strong on their own, Landing at Point Rain channels the best parts of Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan without becoming too adult, and Weapons Factory takes a hard look at the master-padawan relationship between Ahsoka and Anakin, in a way that is strongly reminiscent of some scenes we have seen recently in Ahsoka's own show. Oliver and Chris return with the third season of Rebels! Things get more chaotic but at least the mystery is solved! Or is it..?
Oliver and Chris return with the third season of Rebels! A planet we've seen before, along with a familiar face and a mystery in this one...
A surprisingly decent episode that feels like the first real attempt at fleshing out Anakin and Padme's relationship in the Clone Wars, and also serves as a bridge to the Geonosis arc. We were surprised to learn that this episode was actually referencing a Hitchcock movie, Notorious, from 1946, which helps to explain why the story ends so strongly. Around 2010-13, on a now-defunct podcast called “Saber Chats,” my friend Stephen and I had a recurring segment called “Saber-piece Theater,” in which well-mimicked Disney characters were portrayed in scripted Star Wars scenes that involved lightsaber battles. All seven tracks have been recovered and are presented here once again. You can clearly discern the improvement of the sound quality between track 1 and track 3; Saber-piece Theater was where I perfected my sound editing skills which I would later apply to HoloNet Audio Dramas and other projects.
This week’s Territory Battle has been a SAGA. ROTE sort of happened? We think? Then we all took a Star Tour to Geonosis, for a day or so. Then it wasas if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced as the whole thing got scrapped. We talk about this series […] The post Galactic War Report – Episode 385: Going Back to Geo (I don’t think so) appeared first on RADIO FREE TATOOINE.
Have you ever wanted to spend half an hour debating the moral calculus of war and the conflicting ethics embodied by Saw Gerrera? Boy are you in the right place! In “Ghosts of Geonosis,” Rebels' mid-season 3 arc, we do a deep dive into fanaticism, rebellion, and the meta-narrative of a character who has been in just about every single Star Wars series up until now. Saw Gerrera is one of the most puzzling and polarizing characters in Star Wars, and Ghosts of Geonosis pitches his rebelliousness against the larger backdrop of the Rebellion. Mace Windu was a revered Jedi Master. Highly respected on the council in throughout the galaxy, he never showed fear towards the Sith or any of his enemies. The first time Mace showed some sort of concern or fear, was during this scene in Shatterpoint, which isn't canon anymore, as it's not legends material. I find it also interesting how he senses something like the battle on Geonosis would happen again. I suspect he must have felt Order 66, but didn't know exactly what to expect as to how catastrophic it was. Anakin Skywalker turned his back on the Jedi during Order 66, and I believe the second time Mace actually showed fear, was when Anakin took his hand and Palpatine blasted him with lightning. In Attack of the Clones Mace Windu actually regretted killing Jango Fett in the arena on Geonosis. The reason for this will be explained in the episode along with how Yoda knew why he couldn't kill Count Dooku. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We got confirmation that Boba Fett's dad, Jango Fett, was recanonized as a mandalorian foundling. Now in the episode, Boba shows proof that his armour has belonged to him and his father for a long time, for 25 years it's been in his possession alone, as he ignites the hologram on his wrist which now has been decoded by a Star Wars fan on reddit, so all credit goes to Kinneroth and everyone else who confirmed it in the comments from his finding. Now I'll explain what the code means: so here's the code we got, and here's what it actually read - foundling, confirming Fett was brought into the mandalorian creed via other mandalorians, Fett was born on Concord Dawn, his mentor was Jaster Mereel, where as here it's cut off as Jaste but we can assume the last letter is an r. Father is Jango Fett and the armour belongs to Boba Fett. Jango was a foundling on Concord Dawn, a surrounding world in the Mandalore sector. Long story short, Jango was the son of a farmer on Concord Dawn. A man named Jaster Mereel who was leader of the True Mandalorians, was on the run from a traitor named Tor Vizsla from Death Watch. Jango's dad hid Jaster Mereel in his farm, and told Jango that he was feeding some homeless men. When Tor Vizsla came looking near Jango's DAd's farm, he found Jango's Dad and beat him up infant of Jango, until Jango's mom created a distraction and Jango ran for his life, leaving his parents who were immediately murdered, Fett ran into Jaster Mereel who eventually took the boy under his wing and recruited him in the Mandalorian Civil War against Death Watch, as one of the True Mandalorians. Jaster died eventually and Jango avenged him, becoming the leader of the True Mandalorians. Now the people who found Din, were death watch, so the two clans have always been waging wars against one another and have varying beliefs. Now this means that the armour is like a ranking system, and it only helps that the coding proves he is the rightful owner of it, passed down from generation to generation. That means he's the rightful leader of House Mereel, who was the leader of all the Mandalorians before the civil war. This would grant Boba a high clan status, as definitely clan fett, but also, clan Mereel, as Jaster Mereel was avenged by Jango Fett and his rightful heir, who then took his mentor's place, becoming the ruler of mandalorians. the right to rule once again as the leader of Mandalore, and as such, to claim the dark saber for himself from Moff Gideon. Well, this comes to how Jon Favreau will write the story for Boba. Maybe the right to rule Mandalore isn't something Boba even cares for, as he said, he's just a simple man making his way through the galaxy, but if they do decide to elaborate on the whole clan title, then theoretically, Boba would have a rightful shot as the ruler of Mandalore, since his dad was, and his dad's mentor, aka, his adopted father sort of before the mandalorian civil war. Now what I think could happen, is that there are two scenarios based around this theory. The first being, Boba dies in some last effort to save Grogu as per his promise to Mando, and in doing so allows Bo Katan to get a clear shot at Moff Gideon, killing him and taking the dark saber, owing her ruling of Mandalore to his sacrifice. Or, he straight up beasts Gideon and kills him in a trial by combat. Jango killed tons of Jedi in his hay day, this is why Dooku convinced palpatine to choose him as the Clone template for the grand army of the republic. The guy had skills unlike anyone else and he proved it time and time again. That whole incident of him dying to Mace Windu, was because of the jet pack he had that got crushed by the Reek in the arena on Geonosis. Otherwise, he would have stood a good chance at killing Mace, at least better than what happened. If you didn't know, he tried to acitave his thrusters at the last second, but they were broken due to the beast's attack, resulting in his death. Learn more about your ad choices. Yoda and Obi-Wan discuss why Dooku let Anakin Skywalker live during their fight on Geonosis, as to why THEY think he told Obi-Wan Kenobi about the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious. The answer from Palpatine himself will be revealed in an upcoming episode, but until then, here are Yoda and Obi-Wan's belief as to why all this happened. Learn more about your ad choices.
