Se nos termina la serie de comics menos esperada, y una de las mejores adaptaciones audiovisuales que hemos visto. Hacemos una RE: seña de la temporada cuatro de Doom Patrol, repasando también todo lo que nos provocó la serie a lo largo de toda su duración, con su tratamiento de la salud mental, las relaciones interpersonales, actuaciones y guiones maravillosas, y sobre todo, la completa falta de vergüenza de mostrar toda toda toda la falopa del material original. Y, hablando del material original, también reseñamos los primeros seis números de la etapa en el comic de la recientemente fallecida guionista Rachel Pollack, con Richard Case, Linda Medley, y otros. Esta, junto con la de Grant Morrison, fueron etapas esenciales para la adaptación televisiva. It's a rare thing to get a season finale that hits as hard as this two-part season 2 capper of 'The Bad Batch'. Lucasfilm Animation was firing on all cylinders for much of this season, with gorgeous animation, top tier performances, and scoring from Kevin Kiner that is as good as anything you'd get in a feature film. Yet somehow they took it to another level with "The Summit", and then somehow found yet another gear for the heart-wrenching "Plan 99". For which it's episode title alone now carries more emotional weight than probably any scene from 'The Rise of Skywalker'. For our money, Star Wars doesn't get much better than this folks. There probably isn't much more to be said about how great these episodes were but Julian and Rachel dedicate the entirety of this nearly 2.5 hour podcast to Clone Force 99 and it's well deserved. Look for coverage of Mando later this week, because since when "have we ever followed orders".

Bad Batch continues to impress with character focused episodes in Season 2 and "The Outpost" might be its strongest example yet. The HBO Max series, Peacemaker, the spin-off from director James Gunn's The Suicide Squad has become a massive hit for the streaming service, and not a small amount of its popularity comes from its deft use of music. However, while much as been made of the series' use of under-the-radar or forgotten rock 'n' roll and hair metal, composer Kevin Kiner's work on the series, alongside Clint Mansell, helps set the tone for a show which is by turns outrageous, violent, and surprisingly introspective and thoughtful. Ahead of the Peacemaker series finale, we spoke with Kiner about his work on the series, as well as his past compositions for the Star Wars and DC universes.
