"You're a bold one!" An episode all about our beloved General Grievous!! We just couldn't resist talking about the cranky, snarky Separatist leader. But we have to confess, we learned some things along the way... like why Grievous hates the Jedi and what parts of him are still organic.Support us on Patreon for as little as $3/month: patreon.com/MostThingsKenobiInstagram: most_things_kenobiWebsite: mostthingskenobi.comYouTube: MostThingsKenobiThreads: most_things_kenobiTumblr: MostThingsKenobi

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 1: Alex's Favorite EpisodesIn this episode of Star Wars Generations, Matthew and Alex continue our coverage of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 1 by discussing Alex's favorite episodes. After covering Erin's favorites in our previous episode, we dive into Alex's selection of three self-contained stories: Episode 5 "Rookies," Episode 10 "Lair of Grievous," and Episode 15 "Trespass."We begin by exploring why Alex chose these particular episodes, noting how they effectively establish major themes that run throughout the entire series. Each episode, while self-contained, provides crucial insights into different aspects of the Clone Wars conflict—from clone individuality to the war's effect on Jedi, to the impact on neutral worlds caught in the crossfire. What makes "Rookies" a standout episode?"Rookies" introduces key clone characters like Echo and Fives, who later become essential to the series' narrative. We discuss how the episode demonstrates that despite being genetically identical, the clones develop distinct personalities and approaches to problem-solving. The episode highlights the sacrifices made by clone troopers and establishes Captain Rex's leadership style as someone who leads from the front. How does "Lair of Grievous" reveal the war's impact on the Jedi Order? We examine how this episode explores the transformation of Jedi through the character of Nahdar Vebb, Kit Fisto's former Padawan. We discuss how the war has changed Nahdar, making him more aggressive and vengeful—traits that ultimately lead to his death. The episode foreshadows Anakin's potential fall and showcases the pressure the war places on Jedi who may not be ready for its challenges. Why is "Trespass" significant to the larger Star Wars narrative? We break down how "Trespass" tackles themes of colonization and indigenous rights through the conflict between the Pantorans and the Talz. We discuss how the episode portrays the growth of Senator Riyo Chuchi as she finds her voice and chooses diplomacy over war, contrasting with the Chairman's rigid militaristic stance.Other topics we cover include:The origins of General Grievous and the horror elements in his portrayalHow rushed training affects both clone troopers and Jedi Padawans during wartimeCaptain Rex's character traits that make him a fan-favoriteThe connection between the Talz and characters seen in the original Star Wars filmSenator Riyo Chuchi's character development and her later importance in the seriesYoda's concern that the war is threatening the Jedi's identityThe discussion concludes with a reminder about our sponsor, Level Up Lightsabers, and information about becoming a podcast member to access bonus content including our continuing coverage of the From a Certain Point of View book. **************************************************************************This episode is a production of Star Wars Generations, a The Ethical Panda Podcast and part of the TruStory FM Entertainment Podcast Network. Star Wars Generations: Revisiting The Clone Wars Season 1 Ryloth ArcIn this episode of Star Wars Generations, hosts Matthew and Erin dive into the Ryloth arc (episodes "Storm Over Ryloth," "Innocents of Ryloth," and "Liberty on Ryloth") from the first season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Rather than doing a complete rewatch, they're focusing on their favorite episodes from each season, sharing perspectives across different generations of Star Wars fans.Erin chose the Ryloth arc, which focuses on the Republic's attempt to liberate the Twi'lek homeworld from Separatist occupation. The hosts break down the three-episode storyline, examining how each episode builds upon different aspects of war – from space battles to ground assaults to the civilian impact. What lessons does Ahsoka learn about command? The hosts discuss how "Storm Over Ryloth" shows Ahsoka Tano's early leadership struggles when she disobeys orders during a space battle, resulting in lost clone trooper lives. Matthew and Erin analyze how this mirrors Anakin Skywalker's own leadership style and foreshadows later character development. They debate whether the Jedi's approach to military command shows their fundamental unsuitability for wartime leadership. How does "Innocents of Ryloth" show the human side of clone troopers?Erin explains why "Innocents of Ryloth" resonates so deeply with her. The story follows clone troopers Waxer and Boil as they encounter a young Twi'lek girl named Numa. The episode showcases the clones' humanity beyond their military purpose, with Waxer's immediate compassion contrasting with Boil's initial reluctance. This connection becomes even more poignant when listeners learn that Waxer appears later in the series during the Battle of Umbara. What political themes emerge in the Ryloth liberation storyline?Matthew highlights how the Ryloth arc explores the complex political reality of war, where planets and their people become caught between opposing forces. The hosts discuss the conflict between Twi'lek freedom fighter Cham Syndulla (father of Rebels character Hera Syndulla) and Senator Orn Free Taa, examining how this storyline shows that not all Republic-aligned characters have the best interests of their people at heart.Other topics discussed include:Rose Tico's famous quote from The Last Jedi ("We don't win by fighting what we hate, we win by saving what we love") and how it connects to the clone troopers' mission on RylothSeparatist leader Wat Tambor's portrayal as a calculating villain focused on stealing Ryloth's resourcesHow the storyline foreshadows events in later Star Wars series like Rebels and The Bad BatchThe Clone Wars' consistent examination of how wars impact civilian populations caught in the crossfireNuma's character and her later appearances in Star Wars RebelsClone trooper individuality and personality development through visual and character choicesThe hosts wrap up by teasing next week's episode featuring Alex's picks: "Rookies," "Lair of Grievous," and "Trespass," which will explore a newly knighted Jedi, the Kaleesh cyborg general, and more Clone Wars adventures. **************************************************************************This episode is a production of Star Wars Generations, a The Ethical Panda Podcast and part of the TruStory FM Entertainment Podcast Network. The Grievous Evil of Hoarded Riches | Ecclesiastes 5:13-17

Resolute Podcast

Ever put everything into something, only to watch it crumble? A business deal, a retirement plan, an investment—all gone in a moment. Solomon calls this a grievous evil because he saw it happen time and time again. Money was hoarded, but instead of bringing security, it brought ruin. Riches were lost in risky ventures. A father worked hard, yet had nothing to pass on to his son. And in the end? He left this world the same way he entered it—empty-handed. Welcome to The Daily. We go through the bible verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter, every single day. Our text today is Ecclesiastes 5:13-17. There is a grievous evil that I have seen under the sun: riches were kept by their owner to his hurt, and those riches were lost in a bad venture. And he is father of a son, but he has nothing in his hand. As he came from his mother's womb he shall go again, naked as he came, and shall take nothing for his toil that he may carry away in his hand. This also is a grievous evil: just as he came, so shall he go, and what gain is there to him who toils for the wind? Moreover, all his days he eats in darkness in much vexation and sickness and anger. — Ecclesiastes 5:13-17 When Money Owns You This text isn't about wealth—it's about what wealth does to you. Solomon describes a man who spent his life chasing riches, only to lose them. But the real loss wasn't the money. It was his peace. His joy. His purpose. He worked endlessly, yet it amounted to nothing. That's what happens when money owns you. It promises security but delivers stress. It promises freedom but demands your worship. It promises joy but leaves you toiling for the wind. What's the Answer? Hold wealth loosely. You came in with nothing, and you'll leave with nothing. Use what you have for God's purposes, not just your own gain. Invest in what lasts. Money can be lost in a moment, but character, faith, and relationships have eternal value. Live with peace, not fear. The man in Solomon's story lived in darkness, sickness, and anger. But when our treasure is in Christ, we're free from the anxiety wealth can bring. #EternalInvestment #TrustGodNotMoney #TrueRiches ASK THIS: Have you ever held onto something so tightly that it ended up hurting you? Do you find security in money, or in God's provision? Are you investing in things that last, or chasing after things that can disappear overnight? How can you shift your focus today from earthly gain to eternal impact? DO THIS: Write down one financial goal you have. Then, ask yourself: Does this goal serve God's kingdom or just my own comfort? If needed, adjust your mindset and priorities. PRAY THIS: Father, help me to see wealth for what it is—a tool, not a treasure. Keep me from chasing riches that fade and instead teach me to invest in what truly matters. May my heart be set on eternal things, not fleeting wealth. Amen. PLAY THIS: Alive.

Why does Star Trek's utopianism grate against Aspen? This week, Kenny and Aspen talk at length about where the hell the ideals of Star Trek and the cynicism of Star Wars come from. Storm Over Ryloth slows down Star Wars to give us a beautiful character piece about failure. Meanwhile, Requiem for Methuselah shouldn't work, but Kenny and Aspen try to figure out why.We also talk Grievous, Vader, and ableism and if art should live in a context-less vacuum. Finally, we get frustrated at Star Wars fanbois hating the Holdo Maneuver when Storm Over Ryloth has the same maneuver (albeit, much, much slower). We continue our watch-through with a very typical Clone Wars episode with some fun lightsaber fights and exciting battles, followed by half of an episode which discusses the moral quandary with using Clones, with the other half being a continuation of the less than exciting chase for Grievous. We end up wishing that the focus had been entirely on the Clones, and the question of whether they are allowed to have free-will, but it does lay some interesting groundwork for later seasons of Clone Wars and The Bad Batch. An old-school “Lucasfilm Limited” logo, nice and green, introduces our show, followed by a red Clone Wars logo and title card:  Part 1 Old Friends Not Forgotten. For the first time in the series, we have no Jedi Fortune Cookie.Grievous has launched an offensive across the outer rim. On Yerbana, Obi-Wan arrives in the knick of time to slice a missile in half before it kills Cody, and sticking a Marvel superhero landing. Anakin refuses to take cover because “there's only 1000 droids, tops,” and pulls a full Obi-Wan false surrender to lure out the tactical droid; which he force pulls the length of a football field then slices its head off. Rex's clones fly in on jetpacks and finish off the droids.Admiral Yularen tells Anakin and Obi-Wan they have an incoming transmission using the code “Fulcrum.” It's Ahsoka with a lead on Maul's location! Ahsoka and Bo-Katan arrive on the ship. Anakin tries to buddy up - but he gets the cold shoulder. Bo-Katan proposes a joint operation to capture Maul.Anakin surprises Ahsoka with a visit to Rex and the 501st. They salute her, even though she's no longer a commander. Before Anakin can present her with a special gift alarms blare: Grievous is attacking Coruscant! This means the boys can't go to Mandalore with Ahsoka and Bo. Anakin promotes Rex to commander and splits the 501st, assigning half the company to aid in the capture of Maul. Anakin gives Ahsoka her lightsabers, which he took very good care of, and even made some improvements.Ahsoka, Bo, Rex and the now halved 250 ½ clone squad arrive on Mandalore and meet with resistance. Bo goes after Almec, and Ahsoka goes after Maul. Ahsoka falls into Maul's trap, which was meant for Kenobi and Anakin. We end once again in a fade out with no fanfare music. We begin again without a Jedi Fortune Cookie, but the radio announcer...actually, no, the radio announcer is gone too, along with the opening theme. We are really at endgame here. Ahsoka is surrounded by Maul and his loyal Mandalorians, as he informs her he was hoping his plan would lure Obi-wan here. While he soliloquizes, Ahsoka signals Rex and the clones with her location: they free Ahsoka, but Maul escapes. In the throne room, Ahsoka and Bo-Katan speak to Obi-wan via Spacetime(tm). He informs them that we're now past the opening of Revenge of the Sith, and that Anakin and he rescued the Chancellor and killed Dooku. Back in the tunnels, Ahsoka learns that Maul has captured ARC Trooper Jesse and is searching for her. Prime Minister Almec is killed by Gar Saxon, who is tying up lose ends under Maul's orders.Maul decides that with Sidious's plans coming to fruition, the time for action has come - he fires up his Mandalorians with a speech about dying gloriously in battle, and then sneaks into the throne room to surprise the heroes. Maul and Ahsoka discuss their differences. Now that Maul knows Ahsoka's full history, and that she has left the Order, he offers her an alliance to defeat Sidious. She agrees to the plan, but only if Maul explains what's up with Anakin. Maul tells her the truth: he's the key to Sidious's plan, and has been groomed to be the new Sith apprentice. Unwilling to accept the truth of this, Ahsoka decides that she must fight Maul instead. And we get the best lightsaber battle of the series!Maul disarms Ahsoka, and offers her one last chance to join him, but she sticks to her convictions. Then, with an assist from a number of clones, she captures Maul and secures him for transport back to Coruscant.https://twitter.com/ClosingCrawlhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/closing-crawl/id1530133296https://www.closingcrawl.com/Merch at: https://bit.ly/spacetimetm

Spiritual leaders on the somehow-still-peaceful planet of Bardotta are disappearing, and that Queen Julia has called upon the Senate for help. The ghost of Senator Onoconda Farr chimes in with an undignified snort, but no one in the Senate has a sense of clairaudience or of irony, and so it goes unnoticed. Chancellor Palpatine calls the Jedi Council to let them know it will in fact be a mismatched duo comedy episode starring bad cop Mace Windu and clown cop Jar Jar Binks. See, the Bardottans hate the Jedi, because they steal children, and so want Jar-Jar and no one else to come help them. When they arrive on Bardotta, we learn that the Dagoyan Masters, non-Jedi, non-Sith force wielders, are disappearing one by one. We also learn that Jar-Jar and Queen Julia are, let's say, more than friends. Shortly after this the queen disappears. The Bardottan council explains the source of the prophecy is the Frangawl clan, who worshiped a demon in a shrine below the temple, and we realize that this is not just a buddy cop movie with a side-helping of Orientalism, but an Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom pastiche. Our heroes journey to the caverns below the palace, where Jar Jar is immediately captured and placed in a cage hanging over lava. After a standard amount of Jar Jar hijinks, Master Windu locates him, and the battle rages! The cultists are defeated but the cult leader escapes with the still-captive queen. Jar-jar promises the Bardottan council for the second time that day that he and Mace will recover the queen. The Frangawl cult gets to take over the Bardottan government if Queen Julia isn't found. I'm not sure kidnapping is a good basis for transfer of power in governments, but at this point, as an American, maybe I should be more open to new ideas.Jar Jar breaks down what happened to the Bardotten master. The terms ‘crispy fried' and ‘force sucked right out of him' are referenced. Meanwhile the cultist Ornithopter lands on Geidi Prime, and if Julia is fitted with a heart plug to extract her living force I'm going to start enjoying this arc.The Great Mother (who?!) has told the cultists that they have Jedi on their tail. The cultists are being sneaky by dragging the kidnapping victim and a glowing sphere of living force through a crowded marketplace and Jar Jar and Mace still almost miss them.Mace and Jar Jar run into what looks like a genestealer cultist who sicks a couple Gundarks on them. Jar Jar's prehensile tongue comes into play, and somewhere Kit Fisto senses another erotic disturbance in the Force. There's talk of planetary alignment and apparently Lovecraftian cultists are now in the mix; we're one pair of Nike Decades away from a cultist connect four.Hey, it's Mother Talzin! More fighting with some rejects from the Uldaur raid and at this point I had to lay down for a while with some pretty severe WoW flashbacks. Mother Talzin and Mace fight, and she holds her own against a Jedi who made Darth Sidious look like a chump. Where was this when Grievous invaded Dathomir? Anyway Jar Jar rescues the Queen, Mother Talzin's scheme unravels and Mother Talzin dissolves with a scream…? The queen decides that maybe the Bardottens should reconsider their attitude towards the Jedi, and she just has the absolute worst judgment of anyone on this show and that's saying a lot.https://twitter.com/ClosingCrawlhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/closing-crawl/id1530133296https://www.closingcrawl.com/Merch at: https://bit.ly/spacetimetm

This week we have the privilege of closing out the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy by watching, reviewing, and ranking Revenge of the Sith as a part of our Star Wars movie marathon. In this movie it has been three years since the Clone Wars began. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) rescue Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) from General Grievous, the commander of the droid armies, but Grievous escapes. Suspicions are raised within the Jedi Council concerning Chancellor Palpatine, with whom Anakin has formed a bond. Asked to spy on the chancellor, and full of bitterness toward the Jedi Council, Anakin embraces the Dark Side. #starwars #darthvader #skywalker Time Codes 00:00 - Intro 06:55 - The Opening crawl 10:30 - Initial Thoughts/ Reactions this time 23:45 - Movie Talk 1:11:50 - Lightsaber Duels Ranked 1:29:14 - Favorite Character 1:38:50 - Favorite Scene 1:48:50 - Box office/ budget 1:49:25 - Academy Awards 1:50:45 - Critic scores 1:52:50 - Our Scores out of 10 2:08:25 - OUR Ranking/Where is Falls 2:12:35 - Next Week is Clone Wars: The Movie Check us out on Letterboxd Ben's Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/5nFMd Ethan's Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/4QIVr Micah's Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/1bjyt Intro and Outro theme is from @Auralnauts Andor synthwave and "The Book of Boba Fett" (synthwave cover) Follow us on Instagram https://instagram.com/multiversemonologues?utm_medium=copy_link Logo done by the fabulous @chameleo.angel on instagram. So here's one of my favourite Clone Wars arcs that wasn't ever made into the show, however, it does have an epic series of comic runs. After The Clone Wars season 5, Darth Maul is captured by Darth Sidious, the rightful heir to the Darksaber after defeating Maul. Maul is interrogated by Count Dooku and later fights General Grievous per Dooku and Sidious' design. I have covered every issue before several years ago, however, I went back and redid the entire thing for issue 1 and I think i'll redo the whole issue, with better voice acting, better sound fx, better editing.
